Just imagine how many Super Bowls this Bears team would have won if McMahon hadn’t spent half of his career on IR.

McMahon deserved to be the MVP of that game. The only reason he didn’t get it was because Pete Roselle didn’t like him. What a rip off.

McMahon wasn't the best quarterback. He was a winner. He was one of those guys that had an undefined ability to rally those around him .

I can remember so many of the details of this game like it was yesterday. I was supposed to be studying for a history test the next day. Little did I know that the Bears were on their way to making history in 1985.

McMahon's miracle could have died before it even started. The first pass would have been a big sack, if it hadn't been for Payton stopping the oncoming blitzer. A successful sacking could have easily suppressed any 'comeback' mood the Bears were trying to muster. This makes me a little curious about the game analyzing skills being demonstrated by the Da Punky QB's channel. Giving ALL the MIRACLE glory to Jim seems kind of narrow minded, to me.

The days of big shoulder pads, small head referees, and when it's 1st and goal to go, run it straight up the middle 3 times in a row. Also, I didn't remember they played Thursday night games in 1985.

I can’t figure out why quarterbacks hand off to the running backs up the middle near the goal line. Every attempt to run it in is completely futile the D is waiting and keying on the back it never works and yet offensive coaches call the play time and time again whether it’s the 85 Bears or the 2024 Bears! I have never understood such play calling

I'm not a McMahon hater but he wasn't the leader of that team. If anyone was Singletary was. But I'm not sure it really had a leader. A demonic force decided to reside in the 85' Bears defense and what you saw was its fury.

Looking at this, I never realized how solid Kramer was as a quarterback. And how about that block by Walter Payton that led to that touchdown bomb by McMahon?

I wasn't a Bears fan or anti-fan back then, but I knew a thing of beauty when I saw one. The '85 Bears were sure fun to watch. McMahon didn't even have to step into his throws, just flick the ball 40 yards to a wide open receiver. TD. A team of destiny.

The NFC was tough then. The 49ers, Redskins, Giants, Bears. It's amazing the Bears only won one Super Bowl.

McMahon won that game. The defense made big plays when they had to but got walked like a dog up and down that field all night otherwise. It's a testament to just how good that Minnesota passing attack was. Minnesota obviously came in with a game plan of pass all night, key on Walter and shut him down, beat them on special teams. And it almost worked... Who could predict McMahon would throw two passes for two TDs and otherwise, scorch their secondary like they weren't there? His field presence and overall generalship set him apart as one of the greatest to ever play, REGARDLESS of his overall stats. Nobody had that kind of lightning, either before, or since. McMahon, stands alone in this regard.

Why is this called a miracle. The Bears trailed 17-9 early in the 3rd. Had it been 47-9, ok. There have been a lot of comebacks much larger than this one.

I remember this game like I remember my Cowboys getting destroyed 44-0 by the Bears that year. 😂 Man that team felt invincible, until Marino pick them apart. Still, it felt obvious by that time they would be SB champs.

as much as I like JM... he was a pretty average to below average QB. Never was able to start a full season... 100 TD and 90 INT, the SB win was more about the defense than JM

I think the 10-6 eagles team that missed the playoffs, and the 93 Vikings playoff team, gives credence to the notion he was one of the greats.
