    Great video. I was experiencing all type of electrical gremlins and light on the dash. They were all resolved after replacing the aux battery.

    Yes, go through the fender liner and there is no need to need to take wheel off. Start the car and turn the wheel.
    You will bust the two small round headed clips at the bottom of the liner. Easy to replace. The clips around the liner you don’t remove, just pull the liner off them from the back of clip. Three is good. I bungeed the liner away from the work area.
    The hardest part for me was getting the aux battery cables back on by myself. The video doesn’t show that part. I found out why. It is easier to do if the battery is completely even. Hard for me with only two hands. But got an assist from my spouse and in a few minutes they were on and tightened. Easy to put the liner back on.
    It was an hour for me but I am a 62 yo woman who never did this before and am not a mechanic.
    I think I saves at least $450 doing it myself. Thanks for the video.

    Absolutely awesome video. I just finished my install and this video was a game changer. Probably took me 35 mins. Most of that time was gathering up tools and setting up a fan because it’s Hot outside. Nothing ever breaks down when it’s nice weather… 😂

    Just an fyi my spouse just replaced the auxiliary battery in my 2021 Jeep gladiator and you don’t have to take that fender around that wheel off. You can bend the edge on that wheel and go from underneath. He just finished up on my jeep and it’s working and cranking wonderful!🙌🏼

    If you remove the aux battery then take the positive from the aux battery and connect to the positive of the main battery then tie the ground from the aux out of the way you wont need the aux anymore. I removed mine 4 years ago.

    • @danielsmith5351
      @danielsmith5351 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      None. The Jeep only needs one battery. I run extra lights, winch,etc. But I never run the stop start system . But the stop start system will still work on a 2018 Wrangler but you would run the risk of killing the main battery while waiting in long traffic stops or when sitting for extended periods in traffic just turn off the stop start or unplug the stop start and never worry about it. The aux battery doesnt start the vehicle the main battery does. The aux battery only runs the accessories while the vehicle is in that mode.@@adventurethirty

      @@danielsmith5351I have a 2020 Gladiator and my remote start does not work… (bought it like that 3 months ago with 52K miles)
      When I press the button on the remote I get nothing… no lights, no horn… nothing.
      Could this be the AUX battery? And could I do the AUX delete, I never use the start/stop… it’s the first thing I do after I start my truck… lol

    • @danielsmith5351
      @danielsmith5351 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jlautomotive6349 It shouldnt have anything to do with the aux battery because the system is still connected to the main. Its usually a faulty key fob. Do you have two key fobs and if so does neither work? Do you have to touch the fob to the start button on youre dash to start the vehicle? If you have some mechanical skills you can remove the aux battery. But there are videos out there that show step by step how to unhook certain switches or plugs to disable the start stop. Get back to me on the questions and ill try to help you figure out the problem with the remote start. Its a process of elimination with this sort of thing.

      @@danielsmith5351 Thank you for replying… I can start the Jeep with the key in my pocket… when I bought it it only came with one key (no bag for the freedom panel or tool kit) I did just buy a new battery for it that I’m going to install today to see if that changes anything… but I get the message for the start/stop after starting and for regularly I’ve been getting the A with the arrow after I start…
      So I’d like to just delete the AUX battery as I never use the start/stop I always shut it off as soon as I get in the Jeep…

      I did mine this way years ago and evidently pulled the cables too much. The positive pulled on the strip fuses too much and damaged a fuse. You couldnt tell. All dealerships wanted 1500 for a new power distribution block. I finally found the strip fuses for like 300. Moral of the story disconnect the cables up top so there is slack

      This is actually the easy way to get to that aux battery this way! You can get to it from the top side but it's under the main battery and fuse box so it's a bit of a trip to get to it!

    • @77339futura
      @77339futura ปีที่แล้ว

      The Aux battery controls the auto start stop system. You'll know it's bad when it no longer turns off at red lights. Also when it gets really bad it will throw a warning symbol on the dash that looks like an @ sign.
      It's a bitch getting to through the top.

    How do you know its your auxiliary battery that is having problems vs your regular battery

    • @adventurethirty
      @adventurethirty  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You'll notice issues with the auto start/stop, aux buttons and other functions that are kinda secondary. A main battery might not show signs of trouble unless you're noting low voltage on the gage (that you have to dig for) or it goes dead completely. If you ignore the aux for too long it does eventually take out the main battery.

      It's not actually necessary to pull the fender liner, doing so would probably make the battery more accessible and the install more comfortable but I pulled the fender liner back and crawled up inside the wheel well to do mine, didn't even have to pull the wheel (although ymmv there).
      Was I half blind while doing the install? Yeah, kind of, but i really wasnt in a position to be breaking body clips/pins. Just one less thing to fix.

    You forgot the part about cussing the braindead kiddie engineers at Jeep who designed the stupid ASS (Auto-Stop-Start) system that resulted in them putting that battery in the vehicle in the first place plus their compounded idiocy of putting the battery in such a ridiculous place. And you might as well start out by buying some more of those clips because some of them are going to get lost / broken every time you remove them.
    The way the kiddie engineers designed the dual battery system on the Jeep was such that you had twice the failure points and none of the benefits of a true dual battery system.
