    Hiya, brilliant videos. I'm just wondering if you knew which screws you've used for the motor mount to the chassis. I need to get some new ones for a recently bought 911 and can't find them listed anywhere. Thanks in advance, David

    First up: thank you for the updated intro!
    And yes, those wires colours are always reversed =D
    I also converted my GT2 from the older small tire to the new wide tire. I didn’t notice a performance difference, I have to admit that it isn’t fully race ready, hence less practice time. If the performance is identical, I have it easier with every car using the same wheels and tires =)

      Glad you noticed the updated sound level 😉.
      I was initially concerned that the wider tyres would cause more drag on the straights but it seemed fine.

    With the Plastic Spurs I tried five to find a snug fit on the Axle and yep there was one that was very snug yielding a more even mesh.

    That motor and gearing is remarkably good performance-wise.
    My Marcos came with narrow rears, I didn't realise this until a club member bought a set of cars for club use and some had wider tyres but as someone else said lap time doesn't seem to suffer with the narrow tyres. I suppose tyre life will be better with wider tyres.

    • @CleaveTech
      @CleaveTech  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There are plenty of racers who still use the narrow tyres and have good grip 👍🏻

    If you think the chassis has to much ground clearance, because of the tire and wheel size .put thin shims between the chassis and axle blocks.

    • @CleaveTech
      @CleaveTech  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would like to do that, but the rules don’t allow those sort of modifications. ☹️

  • @user-rs8zg8ey2b
    @user-rs8zg8ey2b 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    If rules allowed it, I would of flipped the endbell 180 degrees to get the timing back positive.
    Also slimming the pinion up for less weight. But sounds like a stock racing class.
    Should make a milliohm meter for $1 from lm317 and 12.5Ω resistor to check things like wire to pickup brush resistance, pickup to track and other things.

  • @Fabio-ns4ql
    @Fabio-ns4ql 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    With angle cut spurs if the motor axle line is below the wheel axle line you want the endbell side of the motor to be slightly lower than the can end to allow for the angle cut. That said the spurs are so average its not going to make any difference. The spurs are not concentric. You in fact got a pretty good one. Ive had some that are almost unusable.

    • @CleaveTech
      @CleaveTech  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      My spare spur was pretty bad so I will only use it in an emergency.

      @@CleaveTech Im looking forward to seeing how close you end up being to the pointy end of the field at your first meeting. Your spurgear and pillar block are rubbing, despite oil. I place a very thin ring (0,25mm) between the parts so the ring touches and rotates only the inner ring of the bearing.

    • @CleaveTech
      @CleaveTech  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      They do look like that would be the case but I have turned 0.2mm off of the boss on the spur gear to form the equivalent of a small washer. I just didn’t want to publicise that fact 🤫 😂

    The comm (or brushes) must be effectively advanced when motor is running in reverse. Unfortunately there is no way of taking advantage of that. Pity. Gear mesh for BRM and Revo is average (Im being kind!!). Our club doesnt allow for different brands to be used. I would love to use better spurs. The spurs are the issue. The pinions are superb.

      @@CleaveTech I would be interested in the new designed analyser . Looking at the REVO motor you will notice that it is completely sealed. You cannot see the armature nor the motor brushes wear pattern. The motor label covering I think also prevents the worn brush material from exiting the motor can. Can this cause the motor to eventually foul ?

      The brushes in those sorts of motors are very short and generally quite hard. They don’t really generate a lot of carbon deposits so I wouldn’t be concerned about the motor failing for that reason. They are also very mildly wound so they don’t generate any significant heat.
