    THIRD - And thirdly, and what I think could have been the big reason why you experience new split is that a lot of people wrongly assume that keeping your hair away for a long time in braids or weave is a good for persevering your hair while it grows. If you don't install and maintain it properly, it could cause even more hair loss and breakage.

    Just dropping a summary of the points as a reminder to self:
    1) Use real protein treatments which will strengthen your cuticles and slow down the splitting process
    2) Trimming is important but if you're trying to gain length you shouldn't trim your hair often.
    3) Trim your hair/Cut off split ends when your hair is dry not wet.
    4) Ensure the scissors you use is as sharp as possible (makes the cuts a lot smoother)
    5) When cutting your hair, try not to cut it at an angle, but straight.
    Lovely video, thanks @Green Beauty

      @@GreenBeauty My stylist cut my front ends in an angle, guess i'm doomed..I'm REALLY trying to grow my hair to my hips, (Im at elbows,) I think I still have some split ends on my hair, (I didnt want my stylist to cut length) but I have decided to just keep them moisturized, If I chop more off, I will just lose length and really regret my decision as I have been growing my hair now for 1 and a half year.

  • @GreenBeauty

    lol okay to clarify, what I mean is that your cuticles are scales that lay on top and protect your cortex like a shield. Over time activities like applying heat, manipulating, washing will eventually cause damage and strip away at your cuticles. Leaving your cortex exposed. Your cortex is very fragile and once its exposed will start to split. I was comparing your "cuticles to a protective shield" not "split ends to a protective shield". I hope this makes sense. :-)

  • @GreenBeauty

    FIRST - Okay so since split end equate to cuticle damage. the only way to avoid or at east slow down the process is to be as gentle as you can to your hair strands, eliminated any drying activities to your hair strands, and eliminate the use of harsh ingredients in the products you use. Your new split ends could have been caused from a number of things. First, the method in with the stylist cut your hair could be to blame for causing you end to be weak and unravel easily.

    • @khadscott7172
      @khadscott7172 5 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      @@k.5425 carrot oil is Awesome for my hair.
      You can dice a carrot, submerge it in a carrier oil for 5-7 days, Strain and then use.
      Or
      You can place the carrier oil on low heat, add the carrot, let heat until the carrot is soft and has changed the color of your oil. Let cool, strain, then use.
      Or
      you can grind carrots, put them in a cheese cloth and squeeze the juice into your carrier oil.
      I do the first method in order to get the most out of the carrot. I also use olive oil as my carrier oil, it is very nourishing to the hair, scalp and slit ends.
      Hope you see success. ☺

    FOURTH - I'm going to be uploading a video on how to properly install and maintain braids so it can serve a positive purpose. But, in the mean time get to know your hair but wearing it out more often and use your own hair when putting it in a protective style, especially in the summer months.

      hi, I've been watching your videos lately. I absolutely love all the information I'm learning. It's very detailed and I'm learning a lot. And I'm just starting my hair journey. So I'm looking to everything to help on my hair journey. But it feel like everything so overwhelming as I learn. Like what I shouldn't do or do so it's difficult. But I've always been natural. But I never put energy in my hair. Expect washing bi weekly and putting it into a protective hairstyles. Now I've found that high porosity hair and it very thick and medium dense. I'm just trying to find out a good place to start. I've started moisturizing my hair daily with loc method I usually use aloe vera spray or leave in hair milk spray, leave in cream, and castor oil or coconut oil. But still my hair comes out frizzy even after moisturizing it daily. For wash day, I don't have complete regiment yet. But I usually wash my hair bi weekly: shampoo, deep conditioner hair mask, rice water rinse (for my protein treatment), and then the loc method. Overall, I'm highly frustrated, confused, and stressed. Because I don't where to start on my hair journey. I was wondering if I could get some tips or info that could help me get started on my whole hair journey.
      Thank you, jamarrea

    SECOND - Stylist usually cut hair at an angle with increases the surface area of your ends and increases the chances of more splits. Secondly, its possible that the shampoo that was used to wash your hair at the place you got the braids and full weave could have been to harsh and drying, which causes your cuticles layers to just break off.

    I get dead end trims 3 times a year. I really don't start noticing symptoms of split ends until the 4 month, so 3x a year is enough for me. Even then, it's still really only a dusting that I need to get the tapered ends cut off completely. But I always tell my stylist to cut all the dead ends off anyway, just to make sure.

  • @GreenBeauty

    (1) Thank You... I sill recommend the LCO method over the LOC and the LOCO. B/c in both cases, the "O" is blocking your hair from absorbing the moisture from the "C". Oils should be use as the last layer to seal. If the oil you are using is not sealing is the moisture from the "L" and the "C" well enough,

    (1/2) Its not that your hair is not growing, its breaking as it grows. There is something you are doing or not doing that is casing you hair to break at an exaggerated rate. A REAL Protein Treatment (with Hydrolyzed wheat protein) will quickly stop the breakage. After your REAL Protein Treatment, revisit everything our use and do to your hair to discover what it is that you are doing that is causing this breakage.

    I just posted a video about how I have these Incomplete splits that have kept happening. It felt like I had a knot but when I cut a few of them, I noticed they were incomplete splits. This is so frustrating. I was trimming them and they would re-appear. I think it's because of my scissors which I ditched and got a new pair. Hello :-) Oil does not have a pH. pH only applies to water and water based products like shampoos, conditioner, leave ins, and creams. So, try not to complicate things by over thinking. Your hair will still receive the penetrating benefits from olive oil if you mix or layer it on the cream

    Great video I learned alot although im experiencing alot of damage my hair is feathering leaving the hair very sharp on one end. I would've liked to hear about the hair follicles and how that contributes to my condition. Thanks

    I hesitate on answer these type of questions b/c I don't want for people to run out and buy a commercial product b/c it works for me, and neglect to listen to there hair if it does not like the product. Part of your journey and getting to know your hair to is use trial and error. And its just as important to know what does not work for your hair compared to what works for your hair. I switch between the Giovanni brand and the Aubrey's brand. What conditioner do you currently use?

    Leaving splits and knots makes my hair tangle a lot more so I can't see myself trimming twice a year

    • @kennypryce4617
      @kennypryce4617 5 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Me neither. I will have to trim quite often to prevent them from knotting. I know in the middle of the hair strand! What witchcraft is happening on my ends while I sleep? Is my hair doing jump rope or something?

      @@kennypryce4617 once I started putting my hair in rubber bands at night about 6 banded pony tails it has saved my hair. I only started to stretch it and now I do it nightly to stop my hair from tangling.

    I didn't have or didn't notice any split ends before I started bleaching my hair. I sometimes regret when I start bleaching again(I take breaks). My hair was once so healthy and super curly.
