Hey GB a quick tip alot of us watch youtube videos on our phones in which annotations does not work so if you could list the videos you reference in your description box that would be very helpful. This way it keep us on your channel watching video after video. Just throwing this out there. Hope it helps.
Great video as always. After understanding porosity, I was able to manage my daughter's dry hair better. We focus more on porosity rather than on hair typing.
same here I been trying to find methods that work great for my hair. Has anyone tried the aloe vera leaf on high porosity hair. If so any ideas on how to use it.
Charlisa Duncan I use it and I love it. You can make an aloe Vera gel out of the leaf and use it as a pre poo or in a diy curling creme. You can also use Aloe Juice as part of a leave in and/or detangler. It’s extremely versatile especially for the cost. I’m high porosity and I’m contemplating buying an aloe plant it’s just that serious
OH my God!!! I've been doing it wrong for years! I did the hair float on the water test and it never sank. I though I was low porosity,, but when you describe the tangles, the thin hair, the easy to break, the water gone after washing, its all me! this video even explain why I can't grow my hair after 6 years and numerous setbacks it still neck length....thank you green beauty
I definitely thought after the water test I was low porosity as well and went and got the shea moisture low porosity line which didn't help 🙄 and after watching this I learned I'm high porosity
naturallyme same here sis. Exact same story! Did the test and thought I was low po , meanwhile I LOC and wake up with oily dry hair! So frustrating but I understand now thanks to green beauty and my own trial and error.
Came back to tell you that the porosity series has reeeeeeeeeally helped my hair. I now retain moisture and have shine because, thanks to this series, I know what works for my hair.
I have high porosity hair too so these past few years have been some serious trial and error. But once I started using your protein treatment ohmygod my hair is alive! It's so moisturized. Your product was a serious game changer for me.
SO HELPFUL!!! My hair has always been high porosity and fits into evry one of those HP parameters. It's hard to find info on HP hair that helps you actually build a routine. These tips you provided were excellent and affirmed what I've been doing, with some needed reminders as well. My hair is finally thriving (at 6 years natural) after a consistent moisture regimen, quarterly protein treatments, scalp massages, always sealing, DC'ing for LESS time, no blow drying, and keeping it stretched. Great job! Thank you so much :-)
I've been watching your videos ever since I was 15 years old and I'm now 19 and because of you my hair grew so Much...I would like to share sum pics with you
My hair is coarse, dense, high porosity and my mother's hair is fine, dense, color treated low porosity so I've had to learn to care for both. My hair loves aloe vera juice and gel, I use it in my final rinse hair tea blend and as the L in my midweek LOC routine. I don't like heavy greasy residue in my hair, even though it is very absorbent and sucks down product so I apply products with a very light hand, building up the layers until I reach optimal coverage. I wash my hair every week to 10 days to insure a thorough moisture infusion regularly and I DC with every wash. I wear twists most of the time because they help my hair retain moisture longer, I can re-moisturize without restyling and style transitions are very simple.
Did the test and thought I was low po , meanwhile I LOC and wake up with oily dry hair! So frustrating but I understand now thanks to green beauty and my own trial and error.
I have just come across your TH-cam channel and I am HOOKED! Now, I've figured out why I have had a major love-hate relationship with my natural hair. Your educational approach has helped me choose my products and care for my high porosity hair in a much more effective way! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
What I like most of you and your videos is the way you explain everything, and graphically. The knowlege about the origin and the science of the things is so important too, more in this world where the industries bring us a lot of products with a lot of chemicals that we don't know if really work for our curly hair. Thank you very much. Greetings from Venezuela and excuses for my English!!
I talk about silicones in these videos on Product Build-up. I hope they are helpful :-) th-cam.com/video/hYRYe5y1msg/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/0PFKSdYAo04/w-d-xo.html
my crown area has high porosity characteristics while the rest of my hair has low porosity characteristics. never would have thought that until this video. thanks.
Thank you Sis *GreenBeauty* for this Valuable Information!!!! I had a hair stylist that had perming my hair since the 1980's never had any problems with her until 2017. She applied the perm not only on my new growth but also on my old permed hair!! Then 2018 my bad judgement call I went back to her for just the touch up and she did it again..put the perm on my new growth and old hair...causing breakage and shedding at a all time high!!! SMH! I have now High Porosity Hair! I will not EVER allow her to put hair hands back in my hair again!! I am transitioning into Natural Hair now. I haven't had any perm in my hair since June 2018. This is was a Great Wake up call for me to leave the chemicals alone and take care and continue to grow my own hair as I have been minus the chemical perm touch up! Thank you again Sis!!! :-)
This video was extremely helpful in helping me identify my hair porosity. This whole time I have had this backwards thinking my hair was low porosity. The upside is that my regimen is actually a high porosity regimen although I thought its was a low porosity regimen! Thanks for the info!
No joke...I washed my hair and headed to YT for your LCO/LOC info to see where my hair is now. Thankfully, I found THIS video through a link in one of your others. Unfortunately, my hair is almost bone dry now.😫 LOVE your channel!😘
your channel gives me life i went natural 3yrs ago an my hair is at a stand still i have a green thumb when it comes to other peoples hair but my own an ive been learning a lot from your channel that helps my clients now its turn
Impressive. There are NO videos on Utube like this one, a pleasure to watch. This video is informative, professional & educational with no unnecessary fillers. You are a trail blazer. Thank you. Of course I subscribed!!!!
Cheers, Tichophobia-a fear of hair, especially seeing or touching fallen hair on clothes, floors, walls etc. I struggle with this phobia. Trypophobia is a fear of holes.
i've never heard that high porosity hair is easier to stretch, but it makes so much sense when u think about it. i've always wondered why my hair is so much easier to stretch/lay than ppl with similar curl pattern, density, and thickness but now i know it's because my hair is high porosity! i've been taking care of my real texture for 5+ years and i'm still hearing new stuff from you, never stop making videos 💞
I enjoyed watching your video. Now I know my hair is high Porosity. My hair always gets tangle aftre washed. It's dry very quickly and it is also very fine. I take very good care of my hair to provement breakages. My hair has grown a lot since I have been taking good care of my hair, since locked down. Thank you so much for your help and advice.
I did not need a test to know my hair was high porosity- I just needed to learn the terminology. Thank you for information to aid in hair care for us sponges... I have learned ALOT thru experience and even more from you on the science= which together has given me a better 'common' sense on my 4c thick porous hair and what it likes season to season.
I wish I could like this video a thousand times. You have actually helped me learn about the porosity of my hair. It's been so confusing, but you make it so much easier to understand and remedy. Thank you so much!!!
Wow!!!! I always learn soooooo much from your vids. My hair is definitely high porosity hair. And I was wondering why my hair was drying out every other day. One...I haven't done a protein treatment in a months and second I've never done an ACV rinse....my hair is very coily, it's grown a lot but I didn't really understand why knowing your porosity mattered. You've made it so clear and easy to understand. thanks for helping us. 😍 blessings ❤❤😇
Omg you just described my hair . Thin , easy to break if wet or dry , easily tangles , dries super quick and its super fragile . My hair loves coconut , pumpkin and olive oils , shea butter makes it super straight even though its naturally super kinky . I always keep it in two strand twist because if i dont it becomes a tangled mess which breaks by the handfuls while trying to comb and maintain order .Now i have learned i should try protein and i will . Very insightful info and thanks for keeping us informed !
Im so glad I remembered this video. I stand by this. I went a little extreme on the "stretching" by just straight up just adding heat (carefully) to my routine. Because I use to be so confused as to why it felt like I couldn't keep length when my hair was 100% natural as opposed to when it was heat damaged I had the longest hair I ever had, the damaged parts just were unfortunate. Im hoping I finally got how this is suppose to work now
I ordered your hydrolyzed protein last year some time and it really helped my high pro natural hair!!😍 My hair was literally one dry M-e-s-s!👀 I had no regimen...Im still learning as I go but my hair really looks and feels much more healthier.. Even my hubby (who pays attention to nothing😒) comments on how healthy it looks..Lol, lol. I reeeeally wanna say, this Protein jump started my healthier hair care routine. Thx for all you share !Blessings🙏🏽💜
Your channel helped me grow my natural hair from hydrolyzed protein treatment segment a few years back. I also love the science behind aloe vera juice. Thank you.
Your description between 3-4 minutes in is the exact description of what my hair does. I realized last year that my strands needed some kind of coating to keep them from tangling so tightly. But, I did not think of a connection to high porosity. I learned something today.
I'm so confused because I did the floating test and I thought my hair was low porosity. Then I watched the two videos on porosity and my hair fitted in both categories
MekaSharee that's a good idea. It due to the follicles. Follicles and hair strands in the back tend to get more nutrients and sebum coverage/protection then the hair in the front. Mainly due to gravity. It's an interesting topic so I'll do a video on it. Thanks for the great idea 😀
Green Beauty Channel ™ so it would grow slower because it gets MORE nutrients? I'm confused 😩 all i know is for as long as i can remember the back of my hair has always been shorter than the front. The front will grow so long that i have to cut it to make it even with the back and the texture is more manageable.
MekaSharee I have the same problem except the "trouble area" is the middle of the back of my head ... below the crown and above the nap... I kinda figured it was because the area there is the kinkiest...
Cyu Hen if i part my hair starting from directly behind my ear all the way straight across to the other side, that's the area. So it's kinda like my hair grows in a natural bob 😕 i hate it plus the back is kinkier and shrinks up more than the front too.
This is the most useful video I’ve watched (out of what seems like thousands) regarding how to properly care for my hair. Thank you for you time and expertise!
I have thick strands of (coarse) medium/high density high porosity hair that tangles easily and dries quickly. My hair has no natural shine to it loves heavy products and oils/butters and if it is humid outside my hair will shrink up if stretched or revert if it’s been straightened. My hair loves aloe vera in products but not straight up juice. My hair really likes olaplex and protein treatments in moderation. Thank you so much for your informative videos they really help me to understand my hair.
I successfully grew out my hair while using relaxers. I don't anymore and I know I've suffered some damage. I'm going to watch the other video on low porosity and make a decision. Thank you so much. I'm subscribed.
The rice water has been so helpful for me. I have high porosity hair and I have never had color. I do rice water rinses bi weekly. I skipped one time and I paid for it. Great video!
This was so timely and definitely needed. I'm working with 3 different heads of hair in my house. Sounds like I'm on the right track for the one that's hi porosity. I have seen major improvement in the hair as well. Still working on sealing in moisture. The acidic spritz appears to make the biggest difference as well as choosing a very gentle shampoo bar for cleansing. Thanks so much!
My hair loves rice water! Every time I use it my hair looks full and healthy. My hair dries out super fast so I know I have high porosity. I always use oil after conditioner but only light like almond or grapeseed. If I use heavy oils then I avoid conditioning too much. I learned how to make my own avocado oil 😊
I love your videos... but can I make a tiny suggestion? I have high porosity 4C hair. And I watched the low porosity video and noticed that (because you are low porosity) you basically had 2x as many tips for that hair type. I understand that's because you've lived it! I was kind of hoping that if you end up doing specific videos for other hair types, you could ask your subscribers/fans with that hair type for specific questions of the kind that are addressed in the low porosity video. So e.g. you address coconut oil and low porosity hair. But I also struggled with coconut oil as a high porosity, because it turns out it doesn't seal enough! Also, I, like a lot of high porosities, have had trouble with butters because they were drying my hair out. I realized that I wasn't layering enough product underneath. Also, glycerin and high porosity hair! And another example, you recommend water only washing but I just don't think water only washing would work for a high porosity because of the roughness of the cuticle and the potential for tangling. In reality your hair will be long broken off before you ever reach full coverage. I know I am slightly jealous because I wish there was a science based high porosity blogger who was as good as you are who I could follow! Love your videos!
Yeaaaa...I’m definitely high porosity, and got so frustrated with it lately that I cut it all off after being natural for 7 years. I needed to be free of the high porosity, 4c headache. I’ll start over with a new regimen from here.
This was very informative. I can safely say that my hair falls under high porosity. I was a little hesitant about the rice water rinse but since i know where my hair falls, i can do it with ease. Thanks.
Hey just wanted to say all of your videos have really helped me to understand the reasons why my hair behaves a certain way and how to remedy that. I wanted to chop my hair off, but after taking your advice I realised I didn't need to, I just had high porosity hair that was prone to drying out, and the end becoming rough despite not having split ends. Apple cider vinegar rinses have been my saving grace. You are a life saver! thanks
Thank you so much I used to use a hair steamer and leave my deep conditioner overnight...now I know that this is wrong I really hope this helps my hair I started moistrising my ends and putting warm oil on my scalp(I’m in a protective style)every two days, trust me when I say it was super duper soft! ❤️ I love you you changed the whole game! Love your vids 😘 New subscriber!
I'm so glad I came across your videos and channel. This is THE BEST explanation of high porosity hair I've watched! I love that you back it with science! Thank you for sharing this info. I've had ups and downs with my natural hair journey. I have high porosity hair and this info is really helpful for me in making more informed choices and to fine tune my hair regimen. Thank you. SUBSCRIBED!
Such informative videos, yes I just subscribed. THANK YOU!! U made it so clear I FINALLY understand! I was able to identify using the characteristics you listed.
Finding out that I was high porosity was a game changer for me. No more guess work at the beauty store. I found a great protein conditioner and buttercreme. Both superb products.
Wow I learned so much for you. I found difficulty in determining my hair for a while now, but I can say for certain that I am in between the medium and high porosity spectrum. Thank you!
Soooo glad I found your channel! I did the "float test" about a year ago and my hair was low porosity, but none of the low porosity information did anything for my hair. I just realized the reason why is because I actually have high porosity hair hahaha
As always, your videos are informative. Nerds rock! Now, on to my dilemma. I have always thought I had low porosity hair, but after watching this video I could be high. Except for the quick drying, my hair tangles, knots and breaks easily. I also have thin strands. I think I will have to rethink how I moisturize my hair. Again.
I don’t know how I stumbled on your station, but let me say I love it. Your videos are so detailed and informative. I love the visuals and everything. New subbie 😊
Reall a big thanks, for year I thought I have low porosity hair because of the floating test... Now I understand why my hair broke easily and they were driyer than the sahara. They did not grow and i was frustrated. 3 weeks in my routine for high porosity and they look better. Again thank you so much!!
I now believe I'm somewhere in the middle. Think I used to be normal to high, but I started using henna over 5 years ago. Now my hair absorbs like low porosity, but looses moisture like high porosity! Love my natural hair, but goodness and mercy so much work!
Great video but I'm definitely not high porosity. I used to think it's bad but I'm loving my hair so much now. You help people like me understand their hair better. 😊
Thank much for providing actually hair FACTS This video is edited really well and easy to follow I appreciate the illustration’s details also Keep up the good work
I think I have high porosity. My 4c hair has been natural since 2013 and I have tried numerous products.I feel like I’m always learning and discovering more stuff about my hair.
Been a HYPO forever but whenever I go to the salon for a cut they always say my hair is medium and I'm NOPE...been dealing with this my whole life it's HYPO. I use the tension method to stretch my hair for the initial styling then use bands during the week to maintain the stretch. One thing with HYPO hair is that ours shrinks like no other during humid days because it soaks up all that moisture in the air. No matter what you try if you have HYPO hair you will either have to put it in a puff or allow it to shrink but it won't stay stretched if the humidity is above 60% 😒
Thank you so much for your video's. I can't wait to see your video on low porosity because right now I don't know what I have but once I see your next video I'm sure I will finally find out. BTW - You have such a calming voice and I could listen to you all day. Thanks Again!!!!!
I hope the next video helps b/c it has a lot of information in it. I have to warn you in advance it going to be kinda long SMH. I tried to make it short but it was close to impossible.
It’s hard to find people with high porosity hair and get advice on it. Thanks for the video! Preciate it.😊
Saw that microscope in the background and knew she was dead serious. You know she has hair strands on slides back there ready to go.
She's truly dead serious.
LOL!
🤣🤣🤣 For real lol
😂 I said the same thing!!
😂😂😂😂

This is the nest natural hair channel I've come across! So informative! All of my questions have been answered! Wow! Def subbing!
Can you do a video on why the back of someone's hair is kinkier and grows slower than the front?
MekaSharee that's a good idea. It due to the follicles. Follicles and hair strands in the back tend to get more nutrients and sebum coverage/protection then the hair in the front. Mainly due to gravity. It's an interesting topic so I'll do a video on it. Thanks for the great idea 😀
Green Beauty Channel ™ would the inversion method change that ?
Thank you!!!!!!!!!!! I finally understand what’s going on with my hair, it all makes sense now.
I really learned a lot and I enjoyed the video and the tips, thanks.👍👌
My hair loves rice water! Every time I use it my hair looks full and healthy. My hair dries out super fast so I know I have high porosity. I always use oil after conditioner but only light like almond or grapeseed. If I use heavy oils then I avoid conditioning too much. I learned how to make my own avocado oil 😊
i have learned a lot of this thru trial and error and i find that so cool! your videos are so informative and affirming.
Can't wait for the Low Porosity video! You have the best informed videos, keep up the wonderful work. Education is power!
I love your videos. Please do a video on Scalp care for us with Seborrheic Dermatitis or Psoriasis. I can't seem to get my scalp right.
This was very informative. I can safely say that my hair falls under high porosity. I was a little hesitant about the rice water rinse but since i know where my hair falls, i can do it with ease. Thanks.
I'm so happy to hear that !!!
You are a life saver! thanks
Thank you so much I used to use a hair steamer and leave my deep conditioner overnight...now I know that this is wrong
I really hope this helps my hair I started moistrising my ends and putting warm oil on my scalp(I’m in a protective style)every two days, trust me when I say it was super duper soft! ❤️
I love you you changed the whole game!
Love your vids 😘
New subscriber!
Thank you. SUBSCRIBED!
Thanks Monica :-)
Such informative videos, yes I just subscribed. THANK YOU!! U made it so clear I FINALLY understand! I was able to identify using the characteristics you listed.
Good video! I had to figure all of this info out on my own using trial and error and common sense. Glad you put it in a video!
Finding out that I was high porosity was a game changer for me. No more guess work at the beauty store. I found a great protein conditioner and buttercreme. Both superb products.
What were they? Please share
@@divinefeline6467L’Oréal everpure bond repair pre shampoo is a good protein conditioner
Wow I learned so much for you. I found difficulty in determining my hair for a while now, but I can say for certain that I am in between the medium and high porosity spectrum. Thank you!
Omg 😲 this whole time I've been thinking I'm low porosity. This video has been of great help to me. Thank you so very much!!!!
Soooo glad I found your channel! I did the "float test" about a year ago and my hair was low porosity, but none of the low porosity information did anything for my hair. I just realized the reason why is because I actually have high porosity hair hahaha
OJFinCho lol those tests can be tricky
As always, your videos are informative. Nerds rock! Now, on to my dilemma. I have always thought I had low porosity hair, but after watching this video I could be high. Except for the quick drying, my hair tangles, knots and breaks easily. I also have thin strands. I think I will have to rethink how I moisturize my hair. Again.
I don’t know how I stumbled on your station, but let me say I love it. Your videos are so detailed and informative. I love the visuals and everything. New subbie 😊
Thanks to you, I now know the porosity of my hair. Good job.
Reall a big thanks, for year I thought I have low porosity hair because of the floating test... Now I understand why my hair broke easily and they were driyer than the sahara. They did not grow and i was frustrated. 3 weeks in my routine for high porosity and they look better. Again thank you so much!!
Great video, it helps me so much!! For many years I thought I had low porosity and now I know I was wrong. Now I understand how to retain length
I have high porosity hair, thank you so much for sharing this useful information. Will be making some slight adjustments to my regimen
Low porosity gang here lol. waiting for the next video. tfs
Yea, I can talk all day about low porosity so, the next video may be a bit long. Apologies in advance 😁lol
Green Beauty Channel ™ However this High Porosity video is excellent for the unlearned!!
Green Beauty Channel ™ hahahahahha no problem at all. We will sip some tea while watching 😊😊😊
I'm trying to learn what my hair is. And never knew porosity thing existed. Thank you!
I now believe I'm somewhere in the middle. Think I used to be normal to high, but I started using henna over 5 years ago. Now my hair absorbs like low porosity, but looses moisture like high porosity! Love my natural hair, but goodness and mercy so much work!
Great video. Wondering what are your thoughts on gelatin masks as a protien treatment
Great video but I'm definitely not high porosity. I used to think it's bad but I'm loving my hair so much now. You help people like me understand their hair better. 😊
wow. this describes my hair to the root. thank you
💚
Thank much for providing actually hair FACTS
This video is edited really well and easy to follow
I appreciate the illustration’s details also
Keep up the good work
Scoop & Spread Method. 💙
I think I have high porosity. My 4c hair has been natural since 2013 and I have tried numerous products.I feel like I’m always learning and discovering more stuff about my hair.
awesome information! I always thought I had low porosity hair.
Great point on high porosity hair and the difficulty of maintaining stretched hair !
Siiiis you just described my hair in this Louisiana humidity. My braid out turns into a bush lol
So glad I came across your videos.
I looooove your channel. Thanks for the info!
💚💚
Thank you so much for your video's. I can't wait to see your video on low porosity because right now I don't know what I have but once I see your next video I'm sure I will finally find out. BTW - You have such a calming voice and I could listen to you all day. Thanks Again!!!!!
I hope the next video helps b/c it has a lot of information in it. I have to warn you in advance it going to be kinda long SMH. I tried to make it short but it was close to impossible.
I love how you explain contents in your video
I thought my hair was low porosity. Just found out it’s actually high porosity 😩😭
It's so overtly complex unnecessarily lol
Love the detail and how you concisely explain this topic🙌🏽
Thank you for this information. It has been a life changer for me. I have discovered that I must include a cream in my hair care regimen.
Thank you for the information. This explains a lot for me and why my hair does better with butter creams.
Very educative
Thanks 😊
omg every time i watch a new video of your channel, it helps me sooo much !
So based off this I have 4c, really thick hair. Thank you this helps a lot with my hair nd daughters
