Cheers mate, I was feeling a bit rusty at first but it’s nice to get back into the swing of things again and because i was so impressed with this new shifter I really wanted to share my thoughts.
I am so into those super touring years that having a decent sequential became a must have and it’s why I ended up with this new Sim Jack shifter over my trusty SHH shifter.
Thanks for the review! My SHH shifter is currently gathering dust in my cupboard as the more I used it, the more disappointed I was with it! This looks a much better option for my rallying and BTCC, especially as I'm not that interested in h-pattern these days.
I was not sure what to expect but it’s was a nice surprise when I started using this shifter and just how good it is for the price. It’s not got the biggest clunk in the world but it doesn’t clank so loud the whole house can hear it ! I am going to play around with the tension settings during the week to see what effect that has but so far the shifter feeling is a real step above what my SHH shifter could ever manage.
Cheers mate and I was happy with my SHH shifter, in fact it will go back on the rig as a H Pattern shifter, but I just wanted something a bit more substantial for when I was fully in tin top mode !
Hi thanks for the review I own a hh shifter first generation but it just broke at the 3D plastic enclosure where The holes are at the front. So I wanted to go for a sequential only and I was between this one and moza but for what you said this is what I am looking for not too loud and good feeling and luckily I found the sim jack on sale so I just ordered
Been really happy with this shifter and still believe it has the best noise to feel ratio for the price point. I did make a couple of small adjustments to the overall force required to make a shift and I now have it at the point where it feels perfect to me. Glad my look at this shifter was useful mate.
@@SimRacingJason I got a moded thrustmaster h patern with fanatec csl dd( not ps5 compatible) working on ps5 with drivehub adapter. I also strapped a dualsense controller to a simjack handbrake so the lever pushes the trigger on the controller. The only option for sequential is a fanatec sq or thrustmaster sparco tss plugged into the drivehub for ps5 compatibility.
@@ivan-j4l9x it’s amazing with a bit of head scratching and a DriveHub box what you can get running on consoles. Shame it’s not just case of plug and play with all PC sim racing gear.
Nice review.. Can you tell if there's a plastic bit that goes in between the new knob and a shaft? Or did you install the knob directly metal to metal. I've got the same knob that I bought for HE shifter and I remember I didn't like it because of that plastic bit that went in
Yes there is a threaded plastic insert on the main metal shaft that allows you to screw a new gear knob on with. It looks like its just the same of the ones that you get with most aftermarket knobs.
I have just checked and this shifter is not on eBay any more just the H pattern version. After a bit more searching i could now only find it Ali Express or Bang Good. They do both ship to the UK but as i have never used them i can't vouch for them i'm afraid. If it was me i would set up an alert on eBay in case more turn up for sale. Let me know if you do manage to get one mate.
I know it works in Dirt Rally 2.0 and WRC24 as I have used it in both titles without any issues. It just registers within Windows and a game controller and as such most sims just see it as another button input device so it should work ok with any modern PC title.
Hi Jason, does your simjack SQ shifter have a clicking sound too? because i just got mine, it feels great, but it just sounds so clicky like pressing a micro switch inside (wich it doesnt have i know) so i dont like to use it just bc the sound distracts me. thanks!
No that's not a noise i have got with mine, but after putting my review video together i did find a sim racer who has not happy with either a feeling or sound with his shifter and he popped it apart and found one the plungers was not greased up and that was causing the issue.
i just ordered the la prima base and button box+ round wheel, are you happy with your setup so far? Also looking for a seq. shifter, i allready have the simjack pedals and im happy with them.
I couldn't be happier with my Asetek la Prima equipment mate, I am still impressed just how much that 12nm base kicks out and its just so clean and responsive ! After a bit of stiffening up of the Sim Jack Shifter its just gotten even better feel wise in my opinion.
For me that was a bonus as I fitted the shifter with the USB port facing away from me which is a lot better than the side mounted port on my SHH shifter on my setup, but with so many setup options available for us sim racers one mans plus is another mans minus !
Nice review of the SimJack Shifter Jason, and great to see you back in my YT feed!

Looks lovely and sturdy! That really brings back memories of watching the super tourers on tele ;)

My pleasure my friend.
Nice review Jason! My Aiologs SQ has been doing the job for a few years and also have the SHH Newt! I like the rebrand of the channel too.😊

Have a look at aiologs silent shifter, it might be a solution for silence.
I love this shifter. I wish I could get it working on ps5 for gt7
It’s really good for the money and yes it’s s shame it s PC only but making PS5 compatible would only push that price up !

@SimRacingJason what is the brand name of the metal shifter knob? Thank you!
Hello, great review.. Where can I buy one of these in the UK? Thanks.

Does the shifter works also in Dirt4, Dirtrally2.0, and EAsportswrc24?🤔

You tried the H shifter ?
No mate i haven't as i am still very happy with my SHH shifter in H pattern mode.
Where did Jason go ?
Still knocking about, just !
@@SimRacingJason say hi to him for me. We all called Sim these days! At least it's not simp I guess. Lol mate
@meecob ha ha I will mate, got to get sim in that title somewhere, somehow !
