Nice to see you also use a table in the back. I use a repurposed dawn dishsoap 1 gallon jug that has a pump then locks down counter clock wise. Then i use solar string lights and solar lights that spike in the ground for outside lights. I also have a cigarette lighter powerstrip. I didnt know if a bigger power box like yours would give enough power from the cigarette lighter in the back. Thats good to know. I also use my carry on travel bag for clothes and pack other stuff up top with a rain proof cover that i got free and tie it down with straps. Thanks for the video happy camping
Thank you so much my friend yes my original setup was a blow up mattress that covered the whole back but then when I added the refrigerator because I was going to travel across America the refrigerator and power bank it was best to set it up on that side and then sleep on the other side it can get a little cramped if you roll around a lot LOL
Definitely stay safe with the propane I do have a CO2 detector But I have only kept the unit on for Maybe five minutes at the most My camping blanket works amazing
You are awesome Jessica and best wishes on your goal I really enjoy car camping having a lower profile like this allows you to get in and out of places a little better
What a cool set up! Very impressive! I ran an oil refinery. We made propane. It's deadly, be sure if doesn't get loose inside your vehicle. It doesn't take much to ruin your day!
Hi Tony. Nice setup. I like how you can put the car back to normal. Not everyone wants to permanently modify their car. I noticed your subscribers have certainly grown since the last time I checked in. Congratulations!
Thank you Craig yes I like it this way because it can be back to a regular vehicle very quickly. Thank you so much for checking in yes I'm hoping we continue to have much success with the channel I am having an awesome time. Thanks for checking in and don't be a stranger LOL take care my friend
I like that table idea, also I’m glad I was able to see the wethetech from the inside, I can see some gaps so I might build my own, tho I’ve been wanting to get those.
Yes the table works out perfect and since this video I've gotten my windows tinted to make it more like hiding in plain sight because people do not see the WeatherTech reflections
Thanks for the great tour, Tony! Looks amazing! Next month I am going on a trip from my hometown The Hague in The Netherlands all the way to Norway, together with my buddy: a 2000 Subaru Legacy. First time to sleep in a car as well. And thanks to you I now know where to setup the window shields and where not to, great advice! Wish you all the great trips!
Absolutely my friend you will have to keep me informed on your progress when I do my camping videos you can see if I make any modifications but pretty much it is how it is right now and I love it took a little bit to get it that way but I think this is the best setup for me. Take care and I appreciate you watching
Yeah I will kind of have to do that on another video the more I thought about it I really didn't have anything in the car carrier as I have since moved everything down into the car and eliminated certain items that I thought I would need
Thank you Jeff this works out a little better than when I was traveling but I did have a few more things while traveling but all my essentials this is what it would have looked like there were things that I took on my trip across America that I never used. I think this is more streamlined
Yes and it serves two purposes one to cook on and two it fits perfectly in the flat spot to make the whole bed level because when the seats down it inclines but this kind of levels it right out
Yes I tell you what for the 7 and 1/2 weeks or the 9,350 Mi that I drove across America this thing worked perfect and I have changed the setup since then but very small like I moved the water jug and a couple other things but very minimal changes
Good looking set up. I did not pay that close attention to your set up while you were on your trip across America, but it looks very similar to what you had then. Be safe my friend and thanks for sharing. Jake McClellan The Oregon Boy 👦 God Bless
Thanks Jake and yes the video while I was traveling across the United States I did do a walkthrough when I stayed overnight in the desert in Arizona but that was actually part of the whole video which most people would not have seen so I wanted to do just a single video of the car and how it is now take care of my friend
I was impressed when I saw your setup in June. Everything is set up in a perfect place and no space is wasted. One thing I should suggest is that you might want to unhook the propane tank from that burner just in case the tap gets bumped on and propane leaks out into the car. That and maybe try not to sleep on the cutting board. I bet that doesn't feel that well under the bed😂 Have a good one and I will chat with ya soon👋
Yeah good suggestion about the propane and where are The Cutting Board is on the bottom corner of the bed that's where my foot is usually I don't even feel it that thermal rest blow up mattress that stays blowed up all the time is very comfortable
Great video great personality. Thank you for sharing. I also have a Subaru outback 2015 Limited, but I have a German Shepherd. I’m trying to see how I can fit her in with all my other stuff. PS I have one of those clothes hanging bars across mine with the lights on it and it helps to strap rubber bands on an iPhone to watch something in the early evening. But mostly to help me turn over from side to side and slide out the passenger door while I’m hanging onto it.
This is so practical and simple! I don't really camp much ... where do you use the bathroom haha? Just dig a hole? Wonder if you could fit a Porta Potti 365 in there somewhere if you're solo.
Thank you very much believe it or not I did not show it but I do have a collapsible emergency porta potty and uses plastic bags that didn't turn into the collapsible party. I have used it on my trip across America especially if I was late night and had to use or go to the restroom and there was no open gas station or place that I can use. However if I'm not in an urban situation correct to go home LOL
Your content is great. LOve the useful tip and creative 2.0 food approved options. I have an Outback myself and grabbed one of the Hasika hatch tents - great product! Question for you - what is your roof top storage storage and what is the backseat table?
Why thank you so much my friend and the Rooftop storage was given to me by a subscriber I think it used to be sold by Sears not available any longer but the table set up is from Amazon to gaming table and that was given to me by Alpine Warrior who found it on Amazon
Great video! You showed me a lot of things that car camping can be so much easier, thank you. Do you have a link where you purchased the screens for the front windows?
Hey thank you so much and I really appreciate your feedback and I do not have a link for that because that was a gift from a subscriber when I saw him outside of a Cracker Barrel on my way to California last year. I am so sorry
That’s a well organized set up You must feel nice and secure sleeping in the car Are the mattresses comfortable and not too hard? That was a well done demo of your car set up Looking forward to the next video 🇨🇦❤️
Definitely way more secure once the hatch goes down and I can lock the car turn on the little fan that makes a little noise and I am out like a light LOL
Awesome video! We’ve got very similar set ups! I was looking for a table that is about 20x40 to go under my exped mattress. I stow my WeatherTech screen set under my mattress- so they all lay flat. I also pull the rear headrests out and put back in reverse so they angle toward the ceiling for more mattress support. Do you have link to electric kettle and table? I just went with a yeti roadie cooler stowed behind the passenger seat but may invest in a fridge. I actually went with two cargo boxes on top (Thule sport force)… which provides a lot of extra space. Do you put your hatch window cover on when sleeping? Again, kudos to your channel and happy 2024.
Hi Tony, new subscriber there 🙋🏻♀️ loved your video! I’ve been considering getting a Suburu Outback to go camping and found your video really helpful! Question, I noticed you had a Z-Lite pad (the bumpy one) underneith your blow up mattress. I just got myself a similar blow up mattress, do you feel the Z Lite pad makes a difference? Or do you think I can get away with just the blow up mattress?
That's one of the thing I forgot to mention I used a hack that a guy out in Quartzsite Arizona showed me. And I wanted to show that on this video but forgot I have it on other videos but you push the latch on the back door hatch until it activates it will lock and the lights go out and it can stay open all the time to get it closed again pull manually the trunk lid down and then push the button to make it go up and that will unlatch it then it works like normal once it goes up to close it just push the button and it will go down
Hey Tony, new to your channel and love it. I just recently got a 2020 Subaru Outback Onyx XT and want to kit it out for car camping. Thank you for sharing your setup with us. One thing I was curious about: I see the luggage box up top, but you didn't seem to cover storing anything in it. It seems like a lot of the stuff you keep inside could be stored up there. Do you use that box? If so, what for? Thanks!
Awesome my friend the cargo box actually doesn't have much in it I put that on when I headed across the United States to take along a little bit of extra year but since then I found most of the stuff that I would use is in the car now so I really only have some MREs a heated jacket and ax in a few other small items that I have decided that I'm probably going to take the car carrier off. You do get better gas mileage with it off and plus when I car can it's even less obvious
Howdy camper! Hey what do you use for leveling your car for a good sleep? I made some wood planks with sandpaper and using random rocks from the uneven ground, but... still didn't make a good night sleep so far. What do you think?
I actually don't use anything to level the car I just always position the car so the hood or front end is pointed up slightly kind of in a small uphill position the only other thing that I do is I have that Walmart table under my sleeping pad that fits from the crease of the back seat to the back end of the car
Hey thanks for the question the power bank that is in the back of the car runs into the cigarette lighter that is in the back of my 2017 Outback so it is not an inverter it is a power bank
Would you be able to provide a link to the table you use or name or sizing? I’m interested in making my sleep level more flat like you did quickly without a platform build. Thanks!
Yes it's at Walmart folding table 22 in by 40 and it fits perfectly from the fold of the chair to the back hope this helps take care you'll have to let me know how you make out
Yeah that could definitely be a problem but I do a hack for the hatchback and what it is I've shown it in a several of my camping videos but if you take when the patches all the way open and take your finger and close the latch it will automatically go closed and then that tells the car that your hatch is locked. Then in the morning or whenever you want to close it you just pull the hatch closed and then push the button to open it back up it will not go completely closed just lower it about a foot and a half to 2 ft and then push the button to have it reopened and you'll hear the lock disengage and then once it's up there hit the button again then it closes like normal works perfect
That's a great question last time I checked I'm still 5 ft 8 in so I'm not shrinking yet LOL and with this setup I have about 10 in above my head to the back of the seat and I can always put that seat forward I have it level for the same distance back as the driver side but I can always make it go more forward
This actually wasn't an advertisement I have a lot of people asking me what do you use in your vehicle how do you car camp. And after having it set up for 9 and 1/2 months finding out what worked and didn't work this actually works out pretty good. But thank you for your advice I will keep that in mind
Nice to see you also use a table in the back. I use a repurposed dawn dishsoap 1 gallon jug that has a pump then locks down counter clock wise. Then i use solar string lights and solar lights that spike in the ground for outside lights. I also have a cigarette lighter powerstrip. Nice setup sir. I have a no build setup myself. I need the whole back to sleep in cause I move around alot when I sleep.
Thank you so much my friend yes my original setup was a blow up mattress that covered the whole back but then when I added the refrigerator because I was going to travel across America the refrigerator and power bank it was best to set it up on that side and then sleep on the other side it can get a little cramped if you roll around a lot LOL
I like the simple set up and everything fits well. Be safe with propane. Love your enthusiasm.
Definitely stay safe with the propane I do have a CO2 detector But I have only kept the unit on for Maybe five minutes at the most My camping blanket works amazing
I love it ! I am a lifelong hiker, car camping is my new goal for my love of outdoors. Best of luck 👍
You are awesome Jessica and best wishes on your goal I really enjoy car camping having a lower profile like this allows you to get in and out of places a little better
Man you just chuckling away at all the stuff you’ve done to your ride made my day 😂 it’s a great no build build! Keep on keeping on man!!
Way better setup, than my outback, mines cluttered
What a cool set up! Very impressive! I ran an oil refinery. We made propane. It's deadly, be sure if doesn't get loose inside your vehicle. It doesn't take much to ruin your day!
Good thinking thanks for the tip yes I will probably take a look at maybe doing something a little different with that

I've got a buddy with a white one of those and we've gone hiking all over with it - super functional vehicle
Yes very functional I slept out of it for 7 and 1/2 Weeks as I drove to California and back
Thanks for the great tour, Tony! Looks amazing! Next month I am going on a trip from my hometown The Hague in The Netherlands all the way to Norway, together with my buddy: a 2000 Subaru Legacy. Loved the video! I plan on buying an outback to be able to weekend camp like this! I really appreciate you showing this

I really wish you had pulled out all of your stuff. That’s what I’m interested in.
Yeah I will kind of have to do that on another video the more I thought about it I really didn't have anything in the car carrier as I have since moved everything down into the car and eliminated certain items that I thought I would need
Great setup. Awesome use of space. Very smart.

Very nice set up Tony I like how you use your cooking table and then it quickly slides under your sleeping pad. 👍
Yes and it serves two purposes one to cook on and two it fits perfectly in the flat spot to make the whole bed level because when the seats down it inclines but this kind of levels it right out
Subaru makes a really good vehicle.
Yes this is my first Subaru and I'm sold
Awesome vehicle setup, ready for anything.
Yes I tell you what for the 7 and 1/2 weeks or the 9,350 Mi that I drove across America this thing worked perfect and I have changed the setup since then but very small like I moved the water jug and a couple other things but very minimal changes

That's awesome Subarus are so cool I really enjoy mine I hope you can figure out how to get your puppy in there with you
Mine is a no build as well ...this car was made to live out of or car camp! 😊
Oh that is awesome and you are correct spending seven and a half weeks in it driving across America that sold me
I’d do that with my 2000 Mercedes ML320, except it has a big slop in the back. If I come up with something, I’ll pass it along. Thanks Tony.
Yeah that would be great if you do and certainly if you can figure it out definitely share it
Fantastic Tony, love it.
I'm still trying to get a video out on the SQWIBshack, hopefully soon.
Awesome I can't wait to see that video do you have any ideas on when we can get together maybe give me a call I'm always available
@@randomadventures2.0 when it's a little cooler out, I would love to do a truck camp where you did the cook-off Challenge, any ideas.
That could work I've got a couple ideas

I would call the VTOMAN …… VOLT-TO-MAN just my thought.
Yes bringing voltage to this man I like that
Am looking at no build camping Van setup
Yes a van would be pretty awesome
My Subaru Outback runs out of battery when I leave the hatchback open for a little while. It is a problem with Subaru.

I must have missed something. Where is Lisa?
She's at work. I was just showing what the car look like for traveling now for a car camping
Jesus man how long are you going out, a month?
