I recently went out on a two day solo winter car camping adventure into the mountains of Idaho. Like many winter trips, the weather made me change my plans along the way but I had fun none the less. I camped in my Subaru and went snowshoeing the following day. Enjoy!

This video should win an award. The views, time and effort, and work put into this is fantastic. Honestly, do people watching this even realize how much time and effort was put into this. Those shots don't just happen, you have to set up constantly, and I also noticed, when you set the camera, you made a point of not having footprints in front of it. which means you walked around in order to just set the camera up. Your editing skills and effort are above par.

A lot of work goes into this. I worked in video production years ago. Remember what a :30 spot took to put together. B-roll, script, editing, audio, etc. This is a bit over 20:00 minutes. Agree that this gentleman should win an award. By the way, proud owner my first Outback. Love it.

As an owner of two outback’s and a very well built out sprinter, I can attest that I still love camping in the outback if it’s just me. Once you can just leave everything in the vehicle it allows even more ability to just go on a minutes notice. Being able to change clothes and use the restroom are game changers also. Love your video and drone shots. Keep it up.

hey chase im following the same path, these last couple years ive fallen in love with being outdoors ive car camped so much and just recently got a subaru to expand the places i could go to. You really did motivate me and took away most my worry thank you.
You put a lot of work into what you do and it shows. Great footage and build. I also just did a small build on my 12 outback. Not as fancy as yours but I’m proud of it.

Great video as always. Funny enough I tried to make my first TH-cam “overlanding” video this past weekend of a solo winter car camping and skiing trip and sadly nothing went right. Forgot camera battery, had a Ranger tell me I would be fined if they found me camping inside my car, and temps dropped below 10°. While the video didn’t work out I certainly learned a lot and still had some fun.
Sounds like a good time to me! Haha I’ve been there- i’ve forgot memory cards multiple times and it’s always a buzzkill. But hey, we don’t go because we expect everything to be perfect!

Ive camped in my 2008 WRX. Not even the hatchback, just the sedan. Not the most comfortable choice but certainly the easiest. The AWD is just so insanely good, i was even towing my friends out of being stuck on the trail lol.

At nearly 74 I envy your youth and certainly miss mine spending much of it overseas while serving in the military. I have my Jeep SUV set up for a trip out to the Appalachians this week. Being retired I can pick and choose my days out. I was going to fabricate an awning but after checking your selected Amazon site I think buying one ready to mount makes more sense. Wow, breathtaking views Chase. Nothing like I have ever seen before. Australia is beautiful but we don’t get the snow like you do there. Admittedly it did freak me out that road you were on thinking about landslides then you came across the large boulders. I am guessing it is a lot quieter and less people camping in your winter months. Keep up with the footage you have an eye for it and it is great to watch your videos after a long day. So peaceful and quiet.

Being laid up with a broken leg and being 76 years old is no fun.I mostly miss not being outdoors until OLD MAN WINTER gets out of here! you are nailing the camera work. So many difficult lighting setups and they all look great. The night shots are very classy. to know when to let detail disappear takes skill. To show detail with a spot light in the frame.... sweet.

I just car-camped in my HRV for the first time on BLM land outside of Saguaro National Park in Arizona. I was also in the Black Hills the week before. I’m hooked.

I was at the Subaru dealership yesterday looking for an Outback (I call it the motorized metal tent) to outfit and enjoy this great country just like you do....except, not in the freezing weather like you do. Now, being March, it is time to head out. Thanks for listing all of your gear. It will help me to prepare my new Outback. Will be watching y our other videos.

These adventure videos are extremely inspiring. Been kicking around the idea of car camping myself. And yep, in a subaru outback because it's not bad on gas and is spacious plus has a great awd system.

Props for good drone shots done solo whilst driving. Thats always a lot to manage.
Its pretty funny, he can actually see him struggling to keep the car on the road during the drone shots, definitely the driving of a guy using his knees to stear.

Have a buddy with an outback just like that but white - we've gone all over in that rig hiking. Honestly, it played a significant part of the decision to get my wife a Crosstrek and my current WRX.
