that moment when people hate on a game specifically because gun bad
It’s like if they don’t talk crap about that game for 3 minutes, their skin starts to melt. Just shut up and enjoy when the video has to offer
I love the grimy industrial design approach they took with Fallout 3, especially the weapons
I never liked how the 10mm reloaded. Just felt a little too quick. You can barely even see the ejection, and insertion of a new mag. Though, a lot of these are pretty bad, they still hold a special place in my heart.
Put your agility to 1, I bet you'll see it then.

Characteristics
The Terrible Shotgun is a unique variant of the combat shotgun and has the second-highest damage of all weapons in the Small Guns category. The weapon has a far larger spread than normal shotguns, and full damage is only done if all pellets hit, making it most effective in close-quarters.
Critical hit damage with this weapon is applied to each individual pellet the Terrible Shotgun fires (outside of V.A.T.S.). If all nine pellets sneak attack critical at the same time, the weapon's total critical damage is 360. Paired with the Better Criticals perk, it can go up to 540. Add in the base damage of the weapon, and then double the damage because of the sneak attack bonus, and the weapon's total damage increases to 880 or 1240, capable of one-shotting every enemy in the base game and its add-ons.
Durability
The Terrible Shotgun can fire a total of about 146 rounds, the equivalent of 13 reloads, from full condition before breaking. Even so, the weapon will not jam until 120 rounds are fired. Given that one does not reload until the current magazine is expired, they will have 10 reloads before the gun begins to jam, but the gun will only have three chances to jam before it breaks.

It's sad almost comical that most of these weapons from older Bethesda games had better animations and models, I've never played Fallout 3, but it looks like they actually put into some effort into their animation.
yeah theyre not great either but its at least got character unlike fallout 4's robotic ones they repeat across every gun

As someone who likes these animations, they're very janky and robotic. I am not a fan of Fallout 4's gameplay, but the weapon animations, while worse than most games at the time, were better than 3 (New Vegas had some that are alright in spite of being janky like the .357 revolver).

Fallout 4 has exponentially more when you consider customization. They sound and feel much better too
Playing this and NV again made me realize just how much the camera jerks around in these animations. It makes seeing what’s going on half the time damn near impossible.
It's the low vanilla fov capped at 75. It gives terrible eye strain when playing on PC. A simple fix is manually going to the ini and adding a couple of lines to force the FOV to 90 (nowadays I use 100 bordering fish at the corners but it's very gentle on the eyes) and first person fov to 70 (fov for your weapons, larger the number they are smaller and further from the screen)
I used to get headaches and get tired quickly when playing fo3 or new Vegas, specially in interiors maps. Using 90 and above makes the experience so much pleasant. I hardly notice the animations.

Inaccuracies that the subtitles didn’t spot:
The 10mm pistol doesn’t drop out its magazine.
The C96 locks open on a non-empty magazine.
The .32 revolver probably doesn’t use its cylinder release.
The scoped revolver doesn’t have recoil when ADS.
What bolt is the 10mm SMG pulling back?
The combat shotgun completely defies the laws of physics.
The Chinese assault rifle doesn’t rock in or out its magazine. And its magazine is too curved for 5.56.
The hunting rifle’s chamber is disconnected from its magazine.
The reload animation for the lever-action is fudged.
The minigun: see my comment on the previous FO4 video.
The missile launcher is unnecessarily complicated looking despite not using homing munitions, but normal rockets. Its name is a lie.
The experimental MIRV fires many mini-nukes despite only being loaded with one.
The reload animations for the flamer and incinerator don’t make sense.
The Gauss rifle’s charging handle doesn’t move when jammed.

Just wanted to mention that the 10mm smg receiver is from a M2 with parts of a cradle mount (thats often mistaken for a folding stock)
Man its been forever since I played FO3, is there just no in game recoil (not talking animations, but the aiming center/reticule getting pushed away from the trajectory of the last shot) for all of the guns or is it because of console commands?
Yeah, guns dont have actual recoil in either 3 or NV, only visual recoil.

And then, Bethesda in their infinite wisdom, double down and put the worst weapon in Fallout 4, the Combat Rifle 45. ACP, had to mod it to 5,56mm. What is worst is they removed the chinese rifle and G3 assault rifle for a mediorce 5,56 Lewis Assault rifle.

The first and the last Fallout game that I tried to play. I wanted to play it since back in the days when it first came out, but back then PC port had some problems and thus I was not able to do that. Second time I tried to play it few years ago and I did, but I didn't liked the game. Cause it felt like it was either unfinished or bugged. Like, half of the time when I got a quest to do, it wasn't displayed on the map and I had to wander around the bland open world for hours, trying to figure out, what I supposed to do. Then I was getting either bad and broken weapons or weapons that can't kill anyone in this game at all. Then walking around a huge open world on foot for hours became boring and that was bugging me because, like there is cars that has almost good condition but for some reason you could not use them but you could explode them. Like, why? What's the purpose of having cars in the game that you can't use but you can explode??? Wouldn't a simple explosive barrel be enough for that or what? I don't understand that game design choice. Sure, I know that there is a fast travel but, when I use it then it means that I could probably skip something important in the game's world. Like some secret quests or cool gear or something, I don't know. And the final nail in coffin for Fallout 3, for me at least, was the technical aspect of this game. It is so buggy that it is nearly impossible to play it on PC. Especially on modern OS like Windows 10 or 11. So in conclusion I feel like games like id software's original RAGE and Volition's Red Faction Guerilla are more Fallout than Fallout 3 itself. But it's just my opinion, so don't get crazy about it. Cause if you like the game then you don't have to agree with me and it's your personal tastes.

aaahhh the chinese assault rifle, one of the best guns in fallout imo, if it was in fallout 4 the game wouldve been a whole lot better, but nahh they scrapped it and made that goofy looking blimp instead.
