Not just the black powder rifle, but pretty much every gun has something stupid (Charging an open bolt weapon, loading a shotgun while the action is backwards)
Some wasteland yokel might not know how much powder to put it so it's a little understandable. (That's why I liked the story of Fallout 4's main character being from before the war and actually fighting in the war (If your a male character), they actually have knowledge on how to work firearms right, which is why it makes sense they go through clearing out raider bases.)
xXLoneLoboXx yeah but if you play as the female character you’re canonically a lawyer and you being able to clear raider bases no problem suddenly makes much less sense. This is why in the old fallouts they’d let you makeup your own backstory, that way you could match it up with your special stats and there’d be no contradictions. This is one of the things I really didn’t like about Fallout 4, no one was asking for the main characters to be voiced, and no one was asking for predetermined backstories, it just takes away from the RPG style and complicates the narrative.
@@freedoomer2524 I'll ignore the fact that many of these guns, such as the pipe weapons, wouldn't even function in real life. For starters the hunting rifle bolt Is on the left, when in reality it would likely be on the right, and when you cycle the bolt you can't see any bullets going into the chamber, nor any in the magazine, and when you use the hunting rifle with a scope on it, you still cycle the bolt even though I'm pretty sure the scope blocks where the shells are ejected, making the action pointless, there's a single action revolver in game, yet it's pointless to add a revolver specifically meant to be single action when all the revolvers are used as single action. Then there's moving parts on guns like the 10mm that do nothing, gun names which don't make sense etc, you should watch gun expert reacts to fallout 4s guns for a more detailed explanation, seeing as most of the guns in 76 are in fallout 4.
@@cyanoticspore6785 the pipe revolver could definitely work, the mirrored guns is a design choice like with Far Cry 2. The scope doesn't block the action and doesnt block the bullets. The invisible bullets thing isnt very excusable, the "Single Action Revolver" is based on the Colt Single Action Army, the revolver in every western game, show, and movie. The moving parts on the 10MM are probably just for looks but they could be serving a purpose inside the gun. I watch expert reacts and have already seen his F4 video
The other revolvers are double action. Dumbthesda just designed the guns to be cocked after every shot which you don’t have to do with a double action.
Actually, in a way, it does make sense. The named “Single Action Revolver” is modeled after the Colt Single Action Army. What doesn’t make sense is how the .44 pistol and Western Revolver shoot in single action in the first place. They should be double action.

Bethesda doesn't have actual weapon animators. I feel like there are good ways to to cross-hand bolt operation in games, but this sure's hell ain't one of 'em.
I say this all the time, but Jesus Bethesda disappoints when it comes to animations. Like, FO4's weapon animations were mainly below average, but seeing them steep this low is just sad. The new weapons aren't even stylistically similar to all of the FO4 weapons. You can't have calm animations mixed with spastic and messy ones. It just doesn't work...
ToxicityF3 Well, that’s why mods exist for Fallout 4. The animations were only as bad as you wanted them to be. You could also just use modded-in weapons with custom (and hopefully good) animations. The stock animations are pretty lackluster, though, except perhaps in the case of the AK-style rifle from Nuka-World, which fits the weapon’s model just right.
So I just came across your channel a few days ago, and lemme just say that I love the format of these videos. You actually take the time to fire off each weapon, instead of burning through them like some other channels, and it really helps you get a good look at the animations. Edit: also holy shit, why is the recoil on some of these guns so absurd?
Mate, it's like if I said that real life is unoriginal because there is the same type of soda in America and in Russia, however i agree on the last 2 points, 76 needed at least another year of development
@@55_reasons_why74 ill be editing in examples add I watch, bear with me. every revolver is strictly single action even though they have different names. On the single action, they show hitting the ejector also rotating the cylinder. That's not a thing. Lasers don't have recoil, but I can forgive them on that. I cannot however forgive the recoil combined with the ludicrous spread of the beams. That's literally 2 stupid things that lasers wouldn't do, put together. If you reloaded a black powder gun like they do in this game, you could bend the rod, potentially predetonate the powder, over or under fill with powder, and on top of that, the gun wouldn't shoot because they didn't put in the part where they replace the primer cap on the nipple. The pipe pistol has a moving bolt component on the right side, yet has a non moving, lockable charging handle on the left? And why is there any differentiation between the regular pipe pistol and the bolt Acton pipe pistol? It's literally the same design, just with extra animations for some reason. Hell, just watch it, the bolt piece still moves on the bolt Action model, which would mean it's part of the firing pin, yet it locks back again after the shot, meaning recoil recocked the pin, which is about the dumbest over complication in a weapons design if it weren't for the fact its only like that because Bethesda was too lazy to add a second model to the game. I'm gonna skip a few because you can't really screw up a flare gun, and I'll give them artistic license pass on the assaultron head. But the gun obviously based on the Thompson sub machine gun only shoots 400 rounds per minute? The slowest those ever shot in the real world would have been around 650-700 rpm for early ww2 models. And for the 10mm smg, I'm gonna say I can't stand when they don't match the sound to the fire rate in game. That seems like a simple problem to fix given that most of the guns fire together with the sound. For the lmg, it'd require a few more seconds at the minimum to load a belt fed gun like that, they skipped the belt placement. The combat rifle literally looks like it's built to only eject 22 long rifle cases, yet the magazine looks like it's for full powered rifle rounds (a'la .308, 8mm, 7.62x54r, etc) "Handmade rifle" haha. It's much more subtle on this one, but if you watch the mag change, it gets pulled slightly towards the character as it is removed, tilt wise, yet inserting the new mag is done in the proper AK way, by putting the front lip of the mag in, then rocking it backwards into position. If you tried pulling the mag out like that, it isn't going to be comfortable. I'm not even gonna try on how awkward the bolt action rifle is. Why does the laser rifle have weird rotating bits? You couldn't even argue cooling purposes because you could have 3 stationary diodes that reflect out of the same focusing lens and wouldn't have any of the alignment issues a rotating assembly would have. Too much desire for cool factor, imo. Big lmg pipe rifle has a bolt that gets locked in the down position on reload, yet still reciprocates back and forth on firing? Why would they even bother to add that last tweak of animation when just a cycling of the bolt like you're charging an AR would have be all you need. Why does the shotgun shell come out of the bottom of the pump action when your hip firing, yet come out properly on aiming? Looks so awkward. Once again, with the combat shotgun, the charging handle looks like it's made to cycle baby shotgun shells compared to the magazine size. The next few actually have no solid issues, besides the plasma gatling gun, which just goes balls out on the 'rule of cool' with way too many spinny bits to be practical. Then there's the old timey gatling gun. Talk about wtf. Gatling laser has the same issues of all the other laser guns, cranked to 11. The broadsider is so ridiculous I can't help but give it a pass on sheer ludicrous factor alone lol. But whoever modeled the crossbow clearly was drunk when they put graduated sights that didn't move, but then also threw them in front of the aim point instead of targeting them properly. And I think that covers most things.
@@kaiserc2471 first off holy shit dude, you really went over the top with this comment, so kudos to you. 1. yeah I can't help Bethesda a ton with the single action revolver, but the reason they have different names is so people would be able to tell that they're different, and they couldn't call the new revolver a wild west revolver because that was already in the game. 2. for all your problems with the lasers in the game the spread and recoil is there for balance. I thought the reason they made the full auto lasers have multiple barrels was because the one barrel could only shoot so fast with their technology and soldiers wanted to have more sustained fire. 3. the black powder guns are reloaded incorrectly cause the character firing it doesn't really know what he's doing, and why would some random person know how to correctly fire gun that has been outdated for multiple centuries (the reason they didn't have an animation for the cap was because the reload was already super long.) 4. I'm not really an expert on how to make guns, but in a nuclear apocalypse as long as it can shoot it's good, I think that's the kind of mentality the person designing the pipe weapons had, which would explain why it has a lot of dumb features on it. 5. with the lmg, I'm pretty sure those magazines would put the belt where it needs to be already, I'm not an expert on the mg42 so that might not be the case but it was also like that in cod waw so my statement is probably accurate. 6. your problems with the handmade rifle and pump shotgun is such a small detail that I'm just gonna call it nitpicking. 7. the reason the Thompson has a slower fire rate is cause the U.S is being stingy, that's why the grease gun was invented after all. 8. the bolt action rifles' animation is awkward in game cause it's awkward to fire a left-handed bolt using your right hand. 9. when I look at the combat rifle and the combat shotgun I don't personally see the problem with them, so I'ma call it a you problem (I think the combat rifle is suppose to be a more modern version of the BAR, but that's just a hypothesis) 10. the Gatling gun, broadside, minigun and 50.cal are all meant to be used with power armor. 11. yeah even I hate the crossbow, and the 10mm smg should be fixed as well. anyways thanks for the comment and I am happy that we are able to debate this (if the comment seems weird at points, I was making it from the notification screen and it was bugging out)

It definitely has some greater weapons variety, that's one good thing I can give this game. Not as good as new Vegas, but more what I was expecting from Fallout 4. If we could tweak the animations and sound effects, along with adding some other weapons like the classic assault rifle from Fallout 3 and the Antimaterial rifle from New Vegas in the next Fallout, then I'll be more than fine with the weapon variety.
4 years late, but I feel like every Fallout game's weapon variety has gone into a looping pattern. Fallout 1 has a decent, yet very basic variety that is simple to get used to. Fallout 2 adds a handful of new weapons to the mix alongside the first game's to add more flavor to variety and combat. Fallout 3 goes back to a basic weapon sandbox, with DLC adding enough cool new ones to keep the combat fresh and our collections full. New Vegas expands upon 3 greatly with the biggest weapon selection in the whole franchise, including all DLC offering more than one game at that time could handle on an old-gen console. Even on PC, it's abit much. Fallout 4 goes back to basics with the most piss poor weapon selection in the series, including DLC, mainly due to the introduction of weapon modding & crafting. They didn't need to put any effort into adding more exciting weapons than what we got, especially with them all being lazily animated. Fallout 76 remedied this a little by adding onto 4's selection, adding two handfuls of new weapons that were desperately needed. Even adding new ones through new expansions and updates. Might not be as big a sandbox as New Vegas, but a definite improvement. Though the animations for many of the new guns still suck. Each entry gets a worse weapons variety, followed by a better one than the last. Makes me scared for Fallout 5, if they go all out with weapons, or keep it plain and simple. I prefer the former very much.
New Vegas also have some questionable and cursed designed weapons like the Service Rifle and the Marksman Carbine having no charging handle on top of the receiver but instead on the right side like in Dead Island.
That's what I was thinking. The 10mm SMG and hunting shotgun models appear to be based on mods from Fallout 4, but in the hunting shotgun's case the custom animations the modder uses are significantly better (the 10mm still uses the Handmade Rifle's reloads because they're pretty close). The new weapons are the worst for this but most of the animations seem to be missing some frames.

xXLoneLoboXx yeah but if you play as the female character you’re canonically a lawyer and you being able to clear raider bases no problem suddenly makes much less sense.

ToxicityF3
It’s like Fallout 3 animations.
The black powder gun animations weren’t too bad.
FireX CGB Eeeeeeeeeeh...
Edit: also holy shit, why is the recoil on some of these guns so absurd?

every revolver is strictly single action even though they have different names.
The combat rifle literally looks like it's built to only eject 22 long rifle cases, yet the magazine looks like it's for full powered rifle rounds (a'la .308, 8mm, 7.62x54r, etc)
"Handmade rifle" haha.
3. the black powder guns are reloaded incorrectly cause the character firing it doesn't really know what he's doing, and why would some random person know how to correctly fire gun that has been outdated for multiple centuries (the reason they didn't have an animation for the cap was because the reload was already super long.)
9. when I look at the combat rifle and the combat shotgun I don't personally see the problem with them, so I'ma call it a you problem (I think the combat rifle is suppose to be a more modern version of the BAR, but that's just a hypothesis)
10. the Gatling gun, broadside, minigun and 50.cal are all meant to be used with power armor.
11. yeah even I hate the crossbow, and the 10mm smg should be fixed as well.
anyways thanks for the comment and I am happy that we are able to debate this (if the comment seems weird at points, I was making it from the notification screen and it was bugging out)

Modding guns are more better with their reload animations
Yes
New Vegas also have some questionable and cursed designed weapons like the Service Rifle and the Marksman Carbine having no charging handle on top of the receiver but instead on the right side like in Dead Island.

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mk_19_grenade_launcher
7:15 woah Woah WOAH my guy just reloads the gun and LOCKS the bolt handle, yet it somehow decides to reciprocate anyway. A+ Bethesda, truly 10/10 weapon design and animation

If there’s anything I like about this game’s guns. It strikes a really nice middleground between high quality and simplicity!
@GreenTea💚 nah both
16 times the detail
16 times the shit
4x the size of fallout 4🤣
etihwtaerg Palmer the map technically is, doesn’t make it any less empty tho
Captain Rex it was just one of the things Todd was bragging about.
etihwtaerg Palmer i know I’ve watched the presentation
I’m just saying he technically didn’t lie
6:01 Where are the rounds???
I guess they developed crazy new caseless rounds! (lol)
You have to buy rounds animation for only 200 atoms
@@citizenblu What do you mean? Theyre invisible cased rounds
@@goldenbucket2484 I was just making a joke.
@@citizenblu You were. The invisible cases were pretty good but adding on to it I would say nonexistent rounds because my gun does 0 damage.
Took me a while to realize this was Fallout 76, as in "Oh this _is_ Fallout 76", even after reading the title my mind was like "Cool, I've never actually seen Fallout 4's weapon animations and sounds"
The left hand bolt action will never not be cursed.

Artlas game still sucks though
nice opinion 👌
Artlas by game still sucks I meant It sucks because it's a fallout game, it's still an enjoyable and fun game despite it's crappy launch and pay2win mechanics
where all the grim, realistic, intimidating, 90s atmospheric weapons in the classic series?
Gone , reduced to atoms
@@LordTrashcanRulez Impossible...
“Submachine gun” (Thompson) in this game looks like a toy gun
4:32 thats a odd sound for a black powdered rifle
4:06 the bombs dropped in 2077, and F76 takes place in 2102, meaning 20ish years have passed since the bombs dropped and the fact that the radium rifle, and EVERY radium rifle have the radion effect means that the radiation effect on it was PRE WAR. At least thats my theory
I honestly like a lot of the new additions to the arsenal in Fallout 76, especially in terms of their sounds.
That M79 sounds hilarious though. I kinda expected something with a little more *Thump* when it fires.
Sounds like a tweeting bird
It's amazing the design team had the creativity to make some of these weapons. Too bad there isn't any other game that's worthy of these kinds of firearms that is singleplayer and doesn't try to constantly antagonize you to buy stuff from the Atom Shop.
OH WAIT.
6:55 *>Enclave Plasma Rifle*
Wasn't the Cryolator an original invention by Vault 111's overseer?
Not only are you right, you just made Bethesda look stupid.
Yep.did the sole survivor visit the Appalachian wasteland the🤔
@@josephstalin6471 The sole survivor came out of 111 WAY after the 76 players came out

Oh forgot the timeline...so my only reason fallout 76 sucks

Yeah, but almlst all of them are fallout 4 assets directory copied over.
I love the little spark effect on the ultracite variants
Oh look, he uploaded the fallout 4 video twice.
4:00 is that a VG 1-5 german semi auto rifle?
its been almost 12 years since Bethesdas first fallout game, and most of the reload animations still give me anxiety
What's the use of calling it "The single action revolver"? They all are single action
Because it looks more like a single action army than the others. One guy prolly played mgs3 once and said "wee ned thus in thu gaem"
ehhh. double action revolvers have the ability to swivel their cylinders out for easier loading. they can be fired by just pulling the trigger or doing it the way the fallout guy does it.
Goddamn, modders are better then Bethesda’s own team.

I like how instead of making a separate animation
Bethesda just reused the single action animation on the double action
76:Auto grenade launcher whistles now... New vegas:Look what they did to my boy..!!!
The single action revolver animation are so damn static
some of these animations look like they came straight from fallout 3
Awesome weapons, WFG (new acronym for WEAPONS FROM GAMES). Keep up the good work.
i like how they didn't left fallout 76 behind, the updates it until this game is now cool
12:52 mmm nostalgia, this smoke animation reminds me the first Doom-it had pretty the same one
