- This is about the restoration of the wheel wells and fenders of my Porsche Classic. The project went on from February to April 2019. I invested an insane amount of time and effort to get this right, but hey, when today I look under the fenders, it's giving me an immense satisfaction.

Very good restoration Porsche 911 👍👍👍
Thank you! Doing my best ...
Warnt to see more from your cars 👍👍
Great work! Love to see so much care going into preserving the car for many years to come!!
Thank you, Thomas. You hit the nail to the head. That is exactly what is guiding me.
Excellent video sir. I've been trying to re-plumb all the fuel-tank breather lines after they were removed without documentation, and this video has helped immensely.
Thanks! I’m glad it it was useful.
Thanks for the video. I am getting ready to do this same job, on the inner wells. I’m removing the original fenders and installing 911R fenders(fiberglass). At least I won’t have to worry about rust on them, but I think the gasket channel has some rust, and maybe close to the cowl.
Hi again came across this video fascinating to watch bring back memories of supplying body shop parts years ago
Glad you like it, mate.
@@GreasyFingers not a fan of the newer models prefer older upto 993 🤗
Galvanised bodies indeed!, got a new nsf wing for my red 87 Carrera, £800 3 years ago, still plucking up courage to tackle it.Wish me luck, looks good wall art hanging up in garage.
Fingers crossed, Simon.
There’s an Italian proverb basically saying: the one who walks slowly and carefully will walk sanely and far.
Sound much better in Italian 😃
That’s my paradigm in doing restoration work and I’m sure it will also help you with the nsf wing.
GREAT!!!!!
Thanks, Frank. Much appreciated.
Please share with friends ...
Very good job, Johannes!
I plan to do the same on mine , starting in the next days.
Let's see what I find there :-)
Thanks, Peter.
Fingers crossed that it won’t be that bad.
Hi Peter. How’s your project? Any serious rust to be removed?
@@GreasyFingers not too bad, but definitely worth doing it now before it gets even worse.
In my experience rust converter is only a temporary fix. Best to sandblast the rust or dissolve it with naval jelly or similar acid based rust removal product.
Thanks for the tip.
Great work - do you apply the sealant tape to the fender as well?
Thanks, Jessica. No, just on one side.
Another quality tutorial 👌
Can the underside shroud for the petrol cap be removed with the wing in situ? And what is the joint sealant tape used?
Thanks, Pete. Don’t exactly know what you mean.
The joint sealant tape is an original Porsche spare part.
@@GreasyFingers
Ah, it's the part around the petrol filler and waasher bottle filler that is held by four screws.
On this car, why are you using a base/clear and on your red one a single stage?
Because that’s the way you deal with metallic paint.
@@GreasyFingers thanks, I didn’t realize that’s how the factory did it that long ago!
