Either that, or it's the "came back wrong" resurrection trope. But with "chaos" instead of "evil". That would explain why Discord is afraid of Fluttershy getting hurt: resurrecting her would result in a parody of her walking around, mocking the very memory of her.
Idk people considering Sombra the most Evil villain. Tirek, Chrysalis and king storm did so much worse than him. And Cozy Glow did actually learn about fiendship and still used to evil
It's because......*takes a deep breath* Sombra took over Crystal Empire, arguably THE most magical and powerful kingdom for over 1000 years... He hid the crystal heart with such safety...... first, somepony have to use dark magic on the throne (which I'm sure many ponies can't do) and go through a very long set of stairs and then when you expect to use dark magic again..... but this time it opens to your greatest fear which some ponies might get stuck forever in..... when you use light magic..... ANOTHER SET OF STAIRS and finally a trap that will not let you go out........not only that but in season 9 he took over Equestria in 5 seconds!!!!!! AND destroys the Tree of Harmony
Yeah because they love to use the episode "frienenemies" as an excuse and sure they some redeeming qualities (minus storm King) their crimes are much more dangerous than what sombra can do
That would mean that Discord destroyed the Tree of Harmony. Sombra in season 3 is voiced by the director, Big Jim. Apparently he also voiced Trouble Shoes. I didn't know that. He's not really a voice actor by trade, all of his voice roles are in MLP:FiM according to BTVA. And the actor who voiced Sombra in season 9 also voiced the grumpy grandpa from Strawberry Shortcake and the Beast of Berry Bog. I can't believe I didn't notice that before, it's literally the same voice.
Sombra is based on Sauron, so the Sombra in S9 is definately just like a 'image' of how discord sees him. When the one ring is destroyed Sauron does not die (he is, in tolkien's lore basically an angel, and therefore, cannot """TRULY""" die.) But sauron is cut off from the world and cannot return. So when Sombra is defeated in season 3 he (unless you count twitter trolling saying he is "definately dead" by megan mccarthy who is a total troll and gives false info all the time) simply ''cannot return to the mortal world'' based on who he is based upon. Otherwise, word of god (tvtropes) says that sombra is dead on twitter (2013)
King sombra in season 9 is voiced by Alvin sanders the same guy who voiced demolisher from transformers armada. I was wrong about Michael bell voicing king sombra. He voiced g1 grogar
Since the comic book events are not part of the main continuity of the MLP FIM show, What's the best thing about Sombra in the MLP FIM show? Did Discord control him?
I think that Discord can manipulate memories, like how he erased everyone's memories of Cosmos in the comics, so maybe he erased everyone's memories of the Real Sombra & Radiant Hope so that no one would remember that Sombra was reformed, then used a fake Sombra that he created to cause trouble & get defeated to help boost the Mane 6's confidence, this might also help explain the inconsistencies between the Cartoon & the Comics, I mean the same trick was used in the Mighty Magiswords franchise to explain why the Warrior Siblings had no memory of the events from the earier shorts during the mid-later shorts, because a character within the series was using a magisword that erases memories, and with Discord's powers, what would stop him from altering the memories of others in the MLP franchise?
This theory has a lot of potential. Thank you for sharing it with us. You know, I have a theory about G5 that I would like you to discuss. A theory that the reason we don’t see Izzy’s parents is because they judge her for her creativity and they think she’s too positive for them. That would explain why she’s fond of Alphabittle because she sees him as a father figure. I bet he even took care of her when her parents weren’t around. Something that she really appreciated. Heck she even called Alphabittle dad at one point. Please think about this theory. It has a lot of potential.
Preferences from the comic aside, even if he had little characterization. I can’t see s3 and s9 as the same character, at least season 3 is show he is quite clever and tactical. In 9 he is just all force and power, even in s5 he still has his intimidating voice. Personal I also hate they gave him mind control and isn’t important to the plot. And for no reason the cristal heart doesn’t make him anything
Yeah a lot of people theorized this as well. :P I remember back in 2019, I asked Jim Miller on the explanation on Sombra's new voice, and he told me that back when he voiced Sombra in Season 3, he was voicing him in a "ghostly form" which is why his voice is deep and threatening. Once Alvin Sanders came to voice him, he starts voicing Sombra in a much more "fully-formed" voice. So who knows if Season 9 Sombra is the real Sombra or not. xD! But then again, its up to people's interpretations. :) I still theorized on Cozy actually being an dwarf adult pretending to be a "filly", but that's just me. xD Great video regardless!
I'm sold on your theory. Even if it doesn't completely fit in the cannon. It's very possible that it's true. Also that's the correct attitude to make theories. To increase the joy the show brought us.

Eh, I prefer the idea that he's actually the transformed Mirror World Sombra better, but your idea is more plausible. As Discord said, he can do whatever he wants, whenever he wants.
Doc anubis, quick question, so is it possible that radiant hope could actually be in the tv show and could possibly be that she also be canon in the show as well, and is it also possible his comic origins be could actually canon in the show too, as well 🤔🤔
I've always believed that S9 Sombra wasn't the real Sombra and even they say they did it in response to the comics to who their disregarded so make of that with would you will.
@@doc_anubis At 2:33 through 2:43 well Lauren Faust said that the MLP IDW comic books are Canon they're just a different continuity, So you didn't necessarily have to include that line. 😅😅😂😂🤣🤣
I love this theory. I myself believe no one or in this case, no pony is truly evil. Plus I blame it all on the crystal hard fir whst it did to colt sombra with thst evil vision and mentally breaking an innocent colt.
Sorry but to me this Sombra looked like he came from the depths of the shadows and that's why he destroyed the Tree of Harmony, making Twilight Sparkle unable to continue on her way
Interesting theory! If that King Sombra a fake then that's probably why Discord quickly let him get rid of by the Mane 6! Because he's fake and Discord didn't want "the fake" to reveal the truth of his plans with Twilight and her coronation? Or Maybe also right off the bat due to the "fake" King Sombrea being the only one who was arguing with Discord in his Grogar disguise he knew Sombrea wouldn't be so eaisly agreeable and controlable as the others?
I have a head cannon that "sieage of the crystal empire" takes place after season 10, with the end of it showing chrysralis escaping the statue, at that time spike is older and starts making the comics we all know, however some mystery villain apperes and impersonates sombra causing fear, so after the villain is defeated, Spike retells the sige of the crystal empire but with some changes such as making himself younger.
I don't see what you achieve by insisting that the comics are the same canon as the show. To me, it just brings down both. The comics routinely ignore the show lore and miss important character traits, and the show repeatedly de-canonizes storybeats that the comics made whole HUGE arcs about. There's no synchronization in lore nor general vibe. ...Buuuut, when they stand on their own, their awesome. And why isn't that enough? The comics really get that great Golden Age feel, where shit's gonna get weird, and everyone's just gonna get turn into produce, or something like that. It really feels like they really GOT classic comics, took the FiM source material, and ran with it. Like that Mirror World stuff? That's classic, old comic book stuff from +70 years ago, reframed for a new era and its rad as heck. Its not really what FiM is about. But its what the FiM *Comics* are about. It really makes My Little Pony feel like a real, developed franchise, and not just a flash in the pan, because just like, say, Superman or Spider-Man, you can see those same characters doing different things, in different mediums, exploring different stories with different tones, because they're just such strong characters that can support these ideas. I do actively begrudge the decision to push the "Season 10" comics on the part of Hasbro for this reason. The comic's strength was always telling the stories the show was never generally interested in or able to tell. (and a few key fumbles, but no series is perfect, and in retrospect, I suspect there may have been some Together/Harmony Tree ideas scrapped for g5 that may have led to some corporate meddling) That all being said, I'm still interested in this theory, because the comics are treated generally as a B-canon to the Show: meaning that Finale Sombra being an imposter is a VERY viable theory for the comics continuity. So I'd run with it- what WOULD happen in a comic ccontinuity where, suddenly, all of Equestria sees Sombra as a recent usurper, and starts with the torches and pitchforks the second he sees him? How would he and Luster prove he's the real one? I mean, I assume they both left Equestria entirely in their search for Crystal Princess fragments. Or... Worse... Did Discord just... not know? Could he have actually summoned the real Sombra? Would it be that hard if you had the Bell? And Teilight and the Princesses were to biased to question his relapse? (Perhaps due to the presence of that DARK magic?) Then there's that whole avenue of speculation about whether Alicorn magic is Evil without friendship... I mean, the comment from the episode Princess Twilight Sparkle, the Alicorn Amulet, the many, many times in EqG when Equestrian magic (distinct from evil magic) drives people insane and/or turns people into demons... Whose to say Discord didn't just summon Sombra and give him an Evil Equestria Girls-esque Glowup at his convenience? Didn't he get a bit "Reborn" at the end of his comic arc? That could explain the voice change.
I have a theory that King Sombra from season 9 is in fact Illy the Imp is disguise. Let me explain, after Cozy Glow was defeated, Illy was distraught. But he later found about about what happened to the CMC. So, he goes after every foal who didn't get their cutie marks and hypnotise them. But the CMC saved the day and Illy escaped. But Illy them took in the disguise as King Sombra after the note from Discord about forming the Legion of Doom. That explains that the real Sombra was reformed in the comics and Illy took his evil form. That explains the events of season 9.
As a user on tumblr once said: Plot holes are merely the pockets in which your audience keeps their fanfiction ideas.
Either that, or it's the "came back wrong" resurrection trope. But with "chaos" instead of "evil". That would explain why Discord is afraid of Fluttershy getting hurt: resurrecting her would result in a parody of her walking around, mocking the very memory of her.
How come we never saw Grogar in the MLP FIM show if we got someone like Sombra? Who would win between them?
Grogar because he is normally stronger than the terrible trio in their weak forms and he's bell is stronger than discord and 2 alicorns combined
