What if star swirl was testing the apples and when he made the alicorn, made luna and celestia alicorns those star places what if somewhere in between he found out what it actually does because we do have the wishing flower, there could've been a whole field of them back then and that was one of the last ones in the episode. What if star swirl casted a spell in order for the golden apples to grant eternal youth to royalty it's possible because we know how much star swirl is capable of.

Difference is, Celestia never looks any different, but in the first 2 eps of season 1, when the Mane 6 healed Nightmare Moon, Luna came out looking decidedly youthful. By 'Luna Eclipsed' she seemed to have "grown up again". Not sure about Luna, but I reckon all those cakes Celestia eats have something to do with it! No, seriously, think about it: I don't know if we ever see her eating a golden apple, but we certainly see her eating cakes!
