Theory: If Celestia can turn into Daybreaker and Luna can turn into NightMare moon. Then MAYBE Chrysalis was the Lost Crystal Princess before she became into a changeling. But since she was the Princess Before, she is a "Princess Size" changeling. My theory is that maybe something happened between her and Sombra, leadinb to the war of them both. After awhile she finds out that Sombra became corrupt because of their argument. Falling into a deep regret she lost her sanity and became a changeling just like how Luna can turn into Nightmare moon. She knew she needed help to turn back, but she didn't know how. She returned to her kingdom and no one could recognize her, because of her holes on her body, everypony feared her. They would run away everytime she would step foot into the kingdom. Because of fear, she lost every ounce of love inside her and it drew her mad. She wanted the love that she had before, she wanted everypony to care fo her again. She decided to seek for revenge. After finding out she was replaced by Cadance, it drew her even more mad. She knew she couldn't defeat the new Princess without the love. Because the love of the crystal ponies she grew stronger, without it she's weaker. She needed to find a way to help herself. So she decided to turn her backs on the kingdom she onced love and take everything back. Especially the love she needed. I think its a great theory but im a really big lover of princess amore, the lost crystal princess (i think she is the lost crysta princess correct me if im wrong) also princess amore ISNT cadence. Princess amore is the first ruler of the crystal empire and a big part of sombras backstory
More proof that Chrysalis knew Sambra is because when they reunited in the season 9 premiere she looked surprised for a moment before instantly throwing the blame onto him. Also when Sambra is talking about Grogar, Chrysalis is looking at him like she doesn’t believe him

I’d also like you to note, during Chrysalis’s song “This Day,” when she kicks the apples over, her cutie mark is a heart instead of the Crystal Queen’s original crystal heart, I think this means that she *was* the former Queen of Love, then when Caidence became Queen, her cutie mark was the Queen of Love *and* crystal ponies.
I went and searched, yes it is a red thing. There is also the lyrics that in her "heart there is no room," so possibly a past marriage has ended in tragedy but she still loved the groom/husband after it all, so it is possible it could have been a King of the Crystal Empire, hint, hint, Sombra.
Actually, Princess Amore was the first queen of the Crystal Empire. She was turned into stone by King Sombra and the pieces of her statue were scattered all over the world. Though her name isn't exactly mentioned in the series, Twilight does mention her in the Crystal Empire library. She's the queen who established the Crystal Fair
What if Chrysalis IS princess amore? Maybe that’s why she looks like Swiss cheese! Because she was scattered into pieces, maybe the Changlings help rebuild her 🤔
Personal opinion: after the new seasons were released. I noticed that when the changlings were transformed, well they looks TOTALLY different. I think that it's possible that, that's how they originally looked when they lived in harmony with the Chrystal ponies and turned into the darker forms when they began to grow hungry from the loss of love
there was a idw comic where teh changelings weren't all.. hole-y, but still were he black and cyan color palette. i don't think the reformed changelings were what they originally looked like, but a matured/ascended form (yk.. reformed)
Honestly wish that we had gotten more lore on Chrysalis and Sombra as a whole. Would’ve been amazing to tie the Changelings in to the myth surrounding the Crystal Heart and to give Sombra more depth as a villain. And I honestly love the idea of Chrysalis possibly being the corrupted version of one of Cadance’s royal ancestors. Perhaps Sombra would punish her for going against him by making her always hunger for that which she protected: love.
This really needs updating. If Chrysalis was the Princess of Love in that other dimension, could that mean she is Princes Amore who was introduced in the comics? In the comics we are told that Princess Amore was frozen in black crystal by Sombra and shattered, but was that truly her end. Chrysalis's back story was given in the comics as well, where she and the changelings climb out of a dead tree growing in a pool of poison where we see the remains of ponies. Did Sombra dump his victims in that pool, and are the changelings somehow related to those victims?
My theory: Chrysalis doesn't want to reform in front of anypony because she is Princess/Queen Amore. If they knew it, she thinks it will destroy her reputation. Also, Celestia turned into Daybreaker before Luna turned into Nightmare Moon. Without hesitation, Luna used the elements to turn Daybreaker back to Celestia. That's why Celestia was hesitant when Nightmare Moon came, and Nightmare Moon is the reason why Luna was hiding when "A Canterlot Wedding" started.

You know, this makes sense so much it might be canon. And that thought scares me... Because of that did happen.... Then, wow. She is no villian. Just someone whom was hurt and had a cause to "turn" dark. That might be why she tried to take over Canterlot. Not only would she get enough food for her subjects, but she could get revenge on Celastia and Luna. To show them what she had been through and to make them suffer for what they did to her. Damn when you look deep in the mlp series, it is so dark.

I believe that the changelings are a lost race of Alicorn. Perhaps(this is just a theory) after the defeat of discord, Luna saw how much misery he had brought. Not wanting something like that to ever happen again, she created a tribe of Alicorn like ponies. But, Celestia, believing that it was wrong for them to play with life, banished the tribe from Equestria. Starving and powerless, the tribe were transformed into changelings. You see, Celestia, full of rage about her sisters new tribe, cursed them with eternal hunger and misery. And they became...the changelings!!!!
Not to be rude but that's not entirely accurate the changeling are flies who were turned into changelings by starswirl on accident. This is proven in one of the comics.

She's a sort of butterfly/unicorn hybrid. Her name is a pun. A chrysalis is formed by caterpillars turning into butterflies (pupa), she's the Queen of Transformation. Which is why she's a changeling, not a alicorn. And also the reason why her wings look the way they do is because butterflies have fragile wings that can be damaged easily.

I've read the comics and the picture of her is from the comic "reflections" I believe and they travel to an alternate world where the villains are kinda like the main six and in the alternate world, Luna and Celestia become evil (correct me if I'm wrong but that's what I read in the comics).

Here’s my theory: Following off yours When celestia shows twilight the history I think that this is a crystal that holds all history. The story of the crystal empire After a fight with T-Rek (idk how to spell it) she lost her home and the only other option was her cousin: Sombra He made her the “Crystal Princess” and she ruled with him for moons. The Crystal that Celestia uses is something that the Changelings got love from and love is the history. Then when Sombra went corrupt Chrysalis gathered her changelings and told them to evacuate. She tried to fight off Sombra but he was too strong for her so she ran. Leaving the Changelings source of love behind. Chrysalis goes back to her cave (T-Rek when to Tartarus) and she called Celestia and Luna for help. They fought. But as they were fighting they managed to save a Crystal pony, Thorax. He ran to Chrysalis and stayed with them soon asking Chrysalis to become a Changeling. Just like you said they broke to her that everything was gone. Chrysalis and the changelings felt hungry making their body’s turn to the state in “The Canterlot Wedding”. This is also why Thorax is so kind and gentle Just my theory that Celestia stole the Crystal that gave the love to Chrysalis and her subjects
Maybe Chrysalis used to rule in the Crystal Empire with King Sombra but the empire was just home to the crystal ponies. And then when Chrysalis ran away from the empire, she met the changelings. And then the changelings decided for Chrysalis to become their queen.
Or Chrysalis was in love with sombra and The changelings were at the empire and they fed of the love that the crystal ponies provided they split the love in 2 so half for the crystal heart and half for the changelings. But then king sombra was corrupted and with that chrysalis ran away and became corrupted without the love of of the crystal ponies provided and she isolated herself to be alone and darkness took over. I solved the puzzle !! I have a theory about Queen Chrysalis so this is the theory : Celestia , Luna and Chrysalis are sisters , Chrysalis was good but she turned evil for some reason ( like luna ) . In the show they say that Cadance is Celestia's adopted niece , but I think that she is not adopted , and that she is her real niece , and that will make her the daughter of Chrysalis . In the show they say that Cadence's full name is ( Mi Amore Cadenza ) , So her name is Mi , and Amore is her mother's name ( which will be Chrysalis ) . I think that Chrysalis' real name is Amore , and when she turned evil she changed it into Chrysalis ( like Luna to Nightmare moon ) . There's also something I noticed , she is called Queen Chrysalis in the show , we know that the big sister of the princesses turn into a queen ( like in the movie frozen ) , So Chrysalis is the oldest , then Celestia , and Luna is the youngest , that's why Chrysalis is a Queen , and Celestia and Luna are Princesses . i think a lot of people would see this as cowardly, especially for rulers of kingdoms. but everyone should remember that they are people (technically) with emotions, flaws, and fears. past trauma is a big reason why someone would run from their problem, especially if there is a possibility of someone else being able to handle it for them.
This is just cannon but, I belive that the changlings were the remanints of the alicorn Nation, then turned into changlings because there was no other foods, except love, and When candance was younger, forced to give the food to the chanlings.
I find it more likely that she was simply a crystal pony princess, and when sombra went corrupt, the princess that used to create love, fed on it instead. she then turned the citizens she could and fled. I don't think a symbiotic relationship would be logical.

Considering the finale of season 6, I find this theory much interesting! Considering the new form the changelings took on when sharing love it definitely goes with much of what you suggest. Maybe you should make a new video now considering the "confirmation" you got from the finale? :)
Here’s my theory: Queen Chrysalis was originally a princess and was a sister to Celestia and Luna. She was a princess of the Changlings and the Changlings were nice back then. But she got upset about sumthing idk and bam! She commanded the Changlings to attack Luna and tried to overpower her sister. She also probably tried to attack Celestia, but Celestia stopped her. Celestia banished her. Chrysalis may have been the Princess of Love. It would make sense, as the Changlings and Queen Chrysalis feed on Love. While Chrysalis was a princess, she was loved by pony’s and creatures all around.
King sonbra has a curved horn because of dark magic he released when he was younger and Luna left because they used to be good friends and possibly lovers so yeah
According to the comics, Chrysalis and her Changelings came from a tree enchanted by dark magic that fed on the bones of the dead. They were inadvertently set free by Starswirl the Bearded, and they've always had holes. She also doesn't care about her Changelings, seeing as she's even tried to feed them to a dragon to defend herself with no remorse, as she told Twilight in prison. Also, Sombra is not related to Chrysalis. He is an Umbrum. He took the form of a normal colt and his memories were wiped. Upon finding out what he really was, he tried to set the Umbra free and shattered Princess Amore-the previous Princess of the Crystal Empire-and scattered the pieces of her all across Equestria. He has since been redeemed and is searching for her shards in the hope that he can bring her back. Their eyes being green also does not mean anything, seeing as Sombra's eyes are green from using dark magic. His eyes are actually red with a white sclera. Hope that sets things straight. :)
I seem to recall the shows creators stating comics and show were not connecting and comics are mostly AU type things, so while that all world just fine in the comics, the show may be completely different.
Thoseweirdgirls Actually, one of the people who work on the comics once confirmed that the comics were canon unless Hasbro explicitly states otherwise, which they haven't. They work closely with Hasbro to ensure that everything is canon.

I have read the comics and they elaborate on Chrysalis and her origins, abilities, personality, etc. I would also agree that the comics are canon with the show. Most of the MLP: FIM audience tend to do "blind criticism" - critizing or denying the role of a show, movie, or book's contribution to a story based on other's opinions or personal stubborn neglection. Overall this was a fine theory. Perhaps a bit off now that is has been years since this video was published. But anything is possible.

I sorta have a theory..................... In season 7 episode 26 one of the pillars has a curved horn and when you look very closely you can see how she looks like chrysalis and the shadow pony has a curved horn also. Saying this I belie that somehow one of the pillars is Chrysalis comeback to life and King Sombra as the Shadow Pony comeback to life......... anyone agree? And................... The eyes and hair of one of the pillar pony's are basically a light shade of Chrysalis's hair and eyes..........
Chrysalis comes back in season 8. She never died. So she couldn’t have come back to life. And it wouldn’t make sense for her to randomly come back to life as a pillar??? Also the pillars existed thousands of years ago. This whole paragraph is just a mess.

Thats really interesting! They ruled together and loved each other (they shared love). I think Queen Chrysalis (alicorn) even created the Crystal heart before she was corrupted by king Sombra's dark magic and fake love ment for her. I do believe that Sombra got corrupted (even before Stigian) by Pony of Shadows (not discord) who made his heart turn black as night. Sombra then broke Chrysalis heart and then banished her from Crystal Empire using his newly obtained dark power. After that, corrupted by dark magic, heartbroken Chrysalis wanders around the land and is being slowly consumed by hatred and anger while being slowly turned into a love devouring monster she's today. Fun fact: Those holes in her body can be literal representation of this line: "being consumed by hatred and anger from inside". End. Its 3 a.m ! What am i doing with my life?! xD

i also think chrysalis has a past with luna and celestia and was the princess of love, but there is nothing to do with the crystal empire, and her crown is what made her a changeling/evil and it also has a connection with luna not being in the episode

Theory:
If Celestia can turn into Daybreaker and Luna can turn into NightMare moon. Then MAYBE Chrysalis was the Lost Crystal Princess before she became into a changeling.
But since she was the Princess Before, she is a "Princess Size" changeling.
My theory is that maybe something happened between her and Sombra, leadinb to the war of them both. After awhile she finds out that Sombra became corrupt because of their argument.
Falling into a deep regret she lost her sanity and became a changeling just like how Luna can turn into Nightmare moon.
She knew she needed help to turn back, but she didn't know how. She returned to her kingdom and no one could recognize her, because of her holes on her body, everypony feared her.
They would run away everytime she would step foot into the kingdom.
Because of fear, she lost every ounce of love inside her and it drew her mad. She wanted the love that she had before, she wanted everypony to care fo her again.
She decided to seek for revenge. After finding out she was replaced by Cadance, it drew her even more mad. She knew she couldn't defeat the new Princess without the love. Because the love of the crystal ponies she grew stronger, without it she's weaker.
She needed to find a way to help herself. So she decided to turn her backs on the kingdom she onced love and take everything back.
Especially the love she needed.

I went and searched, yes it is a red thing. There is also the lyrics that in her "heart there is no room," so possibly a past marriage has ended in tragedy but she still loved the groom/husband after it all, so it is possible it could have been a King of the Crystal Empire, hint, hint, Sombra.
Actually, Princess Amore was the first queen of the Crystal Empire. She was turned into stone by King Sombra and the pieces of her statue were scattered all over the world. Though her name isn't exactly mentioned in the series, Twilight does mention her in the Crystal Empire library. She's the queen who established the Crystal Fair

Honestly wish that we had gotten more lore on Chrysalis and Sombra as a whole. Would’ve been amazing to tie the Changelings in to the myth surrounding the Crystal Heart and to give Sombra more depth as a villain.
And I honestly love the idea of Chrysalis possibly being the corrupted version of one of Cadance’s royal ancestors. Perhaps Sombra would punish her for going against him by making her always hunger for that which she protected: love.

This really needs updating. If Chrysalis was the Princess of Love in that other dimension, could that mean she is Princes Amore who was introduced in the comics? In the comics we are told that Princess Amore was frozen in black crystal by Sombra and shattered, but was that truly her end. Chrysalis's back story was given in the comics as well, where she and the changelings climb out of a dead tree growing in a pool of poison where we see the remains of ponies. Did Sombra dump his victims in that pool, and are the changelings somehow related to those victims?

My theory:
Chrysalis doesn't want to reform in front of anypony because she is Princess/Queen Amore. If they knew it, she thinks it will destroy her reputation.
Also, Celestia turned into Daybreaker before Luna turned into Nightmare Moon. Without hesitation, Luna used the elements to turn Daybreaker back to Celestia. That's why Celestia was hesitant when Nightmare Moon came, and Nightmare Moon is the reason why Luna was hiding when "A Canterlot Wedding" started.

She's a sort of butterfly/unicorn hybrid. Her name is a pun. A chrysalis is formed by caterpillars turning into butterflies (pupa), she's the Queen of Transformation. Which is why she's a changeling, not a alicorn. And also the reason why her wings look the way they do is because butterflies have fragile wings that can be damaged easily.

I've read the comics and the picture of her is from the comic "reflections" I believe and they travel to an alternate world where the villains are kinda like the main six and in the alternate world, Luna and Celestia become evil (correct me if I'm wrong but that's what I read in the comics).

Following off yours
When celestia shows twilight the history I think that this is a crystal that holds all history.
The story of the crystal empire
After a fight with T-Rek (idk how to spell it) she lost her home and the only other option was her cousin: Sombra
He made her the “Crystal Princess” and she ruled with him for moons. The Crystal that Celestia uses is something that the Changelings got love from and love is the history.
Then when Sombra went corrupt Chrysalis gathered her changelings and told them to evacuate. She tried to fight off Sombra but he was too strong for her so she ran. Leaving the Changelings source of love behind.
Chrysalis goes back to her cave (T-Rek when to Tartarus) and she called Celestia and Luna for help. They fought. But as they were fighting they managed to save a Crystal pony, Thorax. He ran to Chrysalis and stayed with them soon asking Chrysalis to become a Changeling. Just like you said they broke to her that everything was gone.
Chrysalis and the changelings felt hungry making their body’s turn to the state in “The Canterlot Wedding”.
This is also why Thorax is so kind and gentle
Just my theory that Celestia stole the Crystal that gave the love to Chrysalis and her subjects
But there clearly is a scene where you can see Thorax getting hatched so this does not make sense

But then king sombra was corrupted and with that chrysalis ran away and became corrupted without the love of of the crystal ponies provided and she isolated herself to be alone and darkness took over. So she became the queen of the changelings. (This is just a Theory of mine)

I have a theory about Queen Chrysalis
so this is the theory :
Celestia , Luna and Chrysalis are sisters , Chrysalis was good but she turned evil for some reason ( like luna ) .
In the show they say that Cadance is Celestia's adopted niece , but I think that she is not adopted , and that she is her real niece , and that will make her the daughter of Chrysalis .
In the show they say that Cadence's full name is ( Mi Amore Cadenza ) , So her name is Mi , and Amore is her mother's name ( which will be Chrysalis ) .
I think that Chrysalis' real name is Amore , and when she turned evil she changed it into Chrysalis ( like Luna to Nightmare moon ) .
There's also something I noticed , she is called Queen Chrysalis in the show , we know that the big sister of the princesses turn into a queen ( like in the movie frozen ) , So Chrysalis is the oldest , then Celestia , and Luna is the youngest , that's why Chrysalis is a Queen , and Celestia and Luna are Princesses .
Oh wait !! there are more things , Amore means Love in Italian , but Chrysalis FEEDS ON LOVE , so she was The Princess of Love , and now she's the Queen of the Changelings , Maybe dark magic made her evil and turn her into a changeling , That makes sense , because this is what happened to Luna , Dark magic made Luna transform into Nightmare moon , Dark magic made Luna bigger and more evil and it changes the color of her skin and hair , So Chrysalis used to look different when she was younger .

Queen Chrysalis was originally a princess and was a sister to Celestia and Luna.
She was a princess of the Changlings and the Changlings were nice back then. But she got upset about sumthing idk and bam! She commanded the Changlings to attack Luna and tried to overpower her sister. She also probably tried to attack Celestia, but Celestia stopped her. Celestia banished her. Chrysalis may have been the Princess of Love.
It would make sense, as the Changlings and Queen Chrysalis feed on Love. While Chrysalis was a princess, she was loved by pony’s and creatures all around.

According to the comics, Chrysalis and her Changelings came from a tree enchanted by dark magic that fed on the bones of the dead. They were inadvertently set free by Starswirl the Bearded, and they've always had holes. She also doesn't care about her Changelings, seeing as she's even tried to feed them to a dragon to defend herself with no remorse, as she told Twilight in prison.
Also, Sombra is not related to Chrysalis. He is an Umbrum. He took the form of a normal colt and his memories were wiped. Upon finding out what he really was, he tried to set the Umbra free and shattered Princess Amore-the previous Princess of the Crystal Empire-and scattered the pieces of her all across Equestria. He has since been redeemed and is searching for her shards in the hope that he can bring her back. Their eyes being green also does not mean anything, seeing as Sombra's eyes are green from using dark magic. His eyes are actually red with a white sclera.

I seem to recall the shows creators stating comics and show were not connecting and comics are mostly AU type things, so while that all world just fine in the comics, the show may be completely different.
Thoseweirdgirls Actually, one of the people who work on the comics once confirmed that the comics were canon unless Hasbro explicitly states otherwise, which they haven't. They work closely with Hasbro to ensure that everything is canon.
+Sarah Johnston I couldn't agree more with the facts you stated. I have read the comics and they elaborate on Chrysalis and her origins, abilities, personality, etc.
I would also agree that the comics are canon with the show. Most of the MLP: FIM audience tend to do "blind criticism" - critizing or denying the role of a show, movie, or book's contribution to a story based on other's opinions or personal stubborn neglection.
Overall this was a fine theory. Perhaps a bit off now that is has been years since this video was published. But anything is possible.

In season 7 episode 26 one of the pillars has a curved horn and when you look very closely you can see how she looks like chrysalis and the shadow pony has a curved horn also. I think Queen Chrysalis (alicorn) even created the Crystal heart before she was corrupted by king Sombra's dark magic and fake love ment for her. I do believe that Sombra got corrupted
(even before Stigian) by Pony of Shadows (not discord) who made his heart turn black as night.
Sombra then broke Chrysalis heart and then banished her from Crystal Empire using his newly obtained dark power.
After that, corrupted by dark magic, heartbroken Chrysalis wanders around the land and is being slowly consumed by
hatred and anger while being slowly turned into a love devouring monster she's today.

Queen Chrysalis used to be the princess of love and crystals like Cadence That's when King sombra princess celestia tried to fight but failed witch caused luna to fall into sorrow watching over her sister to full of sorrow to battle esspecially sense they also used to be friends before he was corrupt would cause EVEN more sorrow apon her Chrysalis put celestia in a cacoon thingy witch used to be angelic and made out of a love Crystal. and then chrysalis began to fight King sombra It Was Crystal Vs Shadow but eventually she lost she knew she wouldent be able to fight and thats when she decided to release all her good crystal energy and aura she sent it to the daughter of her sister witch died in a Alicorn War witch was Cadence she sent her last prayers to reach them witch where to watch over cadence and train her to be the princess of the crystal empire witch they did chrysalis was expecting Death but she was supprised when king sombra spared her but he surrounded her with dark corruption crystals and forget the good and stuff... well most of i,t king sombra corrupted her chrysalis refused to be "on his side" she broke free with her newer Corrupted body (no holes yet and wings not so insecty ) thats when she refought him they both lost due to luna's sorrows where an angelic being of light,crystals, and celestial ballence and from the heavens shot down after a form of angelic power touched from when each one of the three princesses horns (btw celestia is out she is healed and regained magic) as a blue, pink and gold Aura and joined as one RAINBOW ANCIENT CRYSTAL.As The Being was weakend her she still somehow overpowered them both and ordered the to retreat casting sombra into the shadows and chrysalis into an old deserted kingdom chrysalis made new subjects with power of HATRED but in each one there was a small spec of Good with needed to bloom eventually wall she fought the being that created the holes during to pure love and light in form of fighting and she adapted the new insect wings due to the climate and surroundings of the castle

TiMoThY211991 Good point, but I don't think that necessarily implies that they have never been there. It just means that they have been to other lands too- lands that have less love than Equestria. They might not realize just how much love was in the Crystal Empire because they always used moderation in the past. Yes, they act parasitic and ravage most lands they go through, but this isn't necessarily how it has always been.
i also think chrysalis has a past with luna and celestia and was the princess of love, but there is nothing to do with the crystal empire, and her crown is what made her a changeling/evil and it also has a connection with luna not being in the episode
