the great thing to know in companies pushing the boundaries like this is that when the technology developed for these gets trickled down to normal devices. But this in itself is super cool product as well. would love to pick one up if I had more time for gaming.

This design concept is at least 5 year old, "tricked down" from Asus ROG Mothership($5k, 11 lbs) onto the ROG Flow Z13 ($1300, 2.5 lbs). So this final product IS indeed a "normal device" meant for average users.
@@blue4059 ya, it’s a more of a normal product than mothership, i think it would be even better next year. But also the fact that they pack so much power in such a small tblet with great noise level is good coz they can implement similar stuff on normal laptops. So either way it’s good to see innovation like this.

Asus has always been really good creating unique products that actually work as intended and expected. I have always been happy with all of my Asus products.
Imagine playing your favorite game in paper thin tablet powered by rtx 6090 In the near future, where you can basically carry it anywhere with you and game on every possible scenario.

Exactly surface has had the chance to literally own this space but they have constantly kepts shipping underpowered devices and are more concerned with partnerships than actually trying to bring perfomance to users. Asus ROG literally changed their approach now they are as popular as Dell Alienware , msi.and razer. They will continue to rise to the top with their business model.

Many tech tubers are showing off this tablet but none of them was allowed to show off gaming just yet. They have to wait for the retail model to do so.

This was a gaming tablet video, and he didn't play even one game.
That’s the problem with so many TH-camrs… They’re genuinely excited about making videos when they first start, but after they become popular it just becomes a job to them.

Ahh 2022 looks really interesting because of the recently rolled out CES , surprisingly this device serves as combination of ipad& macbook . More over gaming on this would be real fun with the EGPU. Just thinking about about the price and I guess we need to sell atleast a kidney for this.

I’m interested to see if this tablet will be worth it. I’m looking for a new portable gaming set up, and the functionality to plug in an external GPU will be interesting though I might not capitalize on that part.

@@ratinder2233 I’m interested to see a review of the thermals, And how well it performs when not plugged in. It’s a tablet so I’m hoping the battery will be decent for things that aren’t intense video games.
Also concerned about the quality of the keyboard.
Then there’s the whole price of the thing, I’m hoping it’s not going to be stupid expensive.
I feel like this is mostly for mobile gaming, there are some new ROG laptops out with impressive specs they recently released.

I just wonder how good it is for art, bexause this seems the closest to an all around laptop that I could play AND draw on! I absolutely love it!
Legitimately contemplating selling my Lenovo Legion 5 Pro and Galaxy Tab S7+ for this beast. I don't game much, so the 3070 in my legion is unnecessary...
My laptop is also my desktop but I hate having a separate tablet. I want it all, a device I can plug in and turn into a desktop, or take out with me with the keyboard as a laptop, and when it's time to write notes or watch movies as a standalone tablet.
My concern about this device is its gaming performance away from the power outlet. How long will the battery last and will games run slow when unplugged like gaming laptops?

as for andriod games like codm battery is okay.

It's a gaming PC in a tablet form factor.
The real question is if this tablet has a MUX switch. That's the most important thing nowadays for Windows gaming laptops/tablets.

60hz 4k 500 nits is a pretty huge negative, if you use this on the go. But other than that, it's really solid. Just hope the price is worthwhile to those who want it.

one of the questions i have is its cooling that amount of hardware in that small of a space has got to require quite a bit of cooling it can't be quite also what about its power efficiency most laptops especially gaming laptops can't hold a charge anymore because their focused to much on gaming hardware
Apparently the cooling is really good it puts shame on all of the Microsoft Pro's which have a similar look and build with a weaker hardware, idk about the battery life though I imagine it took a big hit considering the really good hardware.

Superb! unlike xg13, this one uses intel chip, so that means any egpu can be plugged into this device, not just the XG mobile.

1440p would have been better for people who want to use it for gaming AND creative/productivity. I wish these manufacturers would get it through their thick skulls, there are lots of people out there that want to do both in a mobile form factor (with pen support) and 1440p is the best balance

For gaming? I don’t think it’s ideal for touch screen battle royales it’s a bit bulky. Imagine streaming for 8 hours holding this baby. Does it run screen recording graphics card well too?

Actually when you pull out the keyboard, and you use your own keyboard and mouse, that would make a very nice on the go Full Gaming Experience. If you think about it, it's like an portable All-in-One. Might consider this, but would love to see an i5 12400H version instead of an i7 and in an 1080p reso screen for better battery life. Not exactly the best audio speakers but not so fussed over that.

Not at all. Next level will be smartphones that have more powerful SoC's such as the Exynos 2200 with AMD RDNA2 graphics with passive cooling.
This tablet has active cooling hence why it's powerful. It's awesome but it's not next level. This is just a smaller baby version of the Asus ROG Mothership.
Can't wait for full performance test

I honestly love this innovation. A more portable but still powerful device. Really fits a lot of people that aren't enthusiasts as well.
Would love it more if they make all AMD in the future (GPU and CPU are from AMD), and more ports (wished there was at least two more USB 3.0 or something).

Well this year intel will probably win in terms of battery performance with their efficiency and performance cores. One is good enough for a mouse dongle. Besides you won't use such a device as a desktop replacement by itself so you won't be in need of that many ports, however their external gpu comes with tons of them so there's that.
All the games that you tried during this video really show that this is one capable gaming tablet !

I have this device but instead im rocking i9 12th gen with RTX 3050 ti .
Its pointless for most, but animation and game development is a blast in such tiny package! Huge fan of....well... The fans lol .air blows out the top like 18 wheeler stacks. Never over heats when in bed

Ever since I’ve picked up a Surface Pro tablet I’ve been wishing they’d throw a dgpu into something like this. Finally! If it’s reasonably affordable I’ll pick one up for sure!
Surface Pro is meant for mid-range workloads at best.
The price is going to be crazy. Even X13 was extremely expensive, we can get a 3050ti at the price of a X13 with 1650 and XG mobile costs even more than the laptop itself. Even though it’s an incredible and beautiful piece of tech it’s only needed for professional gamers who need extreme portability with performance.

it is to connect the xg mobile, which itself is a VERY portable eGPU (even smaller than the laptop itself) up to 3080Ti, (im not sure if there are amd options, probably). And if you dont want to have it you could use part of the proprietary port as a usb C.

The thing about it is that it’s kinda useless. There are thinner and lighter gaming laptops than this and for productivity you have the M1 iPad or the Samsung tablets with respective keyboard/touchpad covers which is still probably much less expensive.
Nevertheless the concept is unique and may even be practical in distant future but as of now it's just not, in my opinion.

I mean why would anyone want touchscreen in a gaming device? And if you want a windows tablet just go for surface which is a much better option because of it's portability factor.

This is the perfect device for students who like gaming. You do not have to decide anymore. Buy the pen with it and take notes while you're in a lecture and use it to study comfortably on your bed and whenever you want to play a game you can start playing. An all-in-one device. Of course there are better laptops or desktops but I think this is for casual gamers who also want to use it for other stuff and I think this is great. If this came out a couple years ago when I was in university, I would've bought it!

The beautiful thing about firms who push the limits like this is that the technology produced for these products eventually finds its way into everyday devices. However, this is a fantastic product in and of itself. If I had more time to play games, I'd take one up.
