    What a fantastic and realistic review of this unit. Right down to earth on the pros and cons. The limitation for charging will definitely put me off and the aftersales support is also crucial for my case. Based on the information you provided, i will most definitely give this version a miss, not because i think its a bad unit, but ideally i'd like them to have more charging support as well as the inclusion of a 4/5G LTE connectivity... I travel a lot for business, and i absolutely HATE tethering my phone since i also need the battery life on my phone to make calls etc.
    Keep up the good work on these reviews, Liked and subbed.

      Thank you, I'm glad this was helpful. Built in 5g would be great I agree with you. Bummed by a few of the decisions they are making, it seems they could fix these issues without too much trouble.

      Agreed re LTE. Here in UK I picked up a refurb Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Tablet Gen 3 for equivalent of $400. Kickstand i7 16GB RAM 256 GB SSD LTE and superb backlit keyboard. (I bought a stylus separately.) It is a business machine so graphics or cpu heavy apps kill it, definitely not for gaming. I use it for business and CAD. Alas Lenovo never released a more recent more powerful version since. I hope ASUS sort out the battery life, add an SD Card slot for us photographers and improve cooling so it can game, video edit and/or 3D CAD without an external GPU.

  • @newsgraphics6067
    @newsgraphics6067 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Ignore the handle - I must be logged in with my work account. I was just wondering what you had repaired on your Z13? I just got mine back. I had this weird USB problem where if I plugged something into the second Type C port, the laptop would stop charging. It would charge fine if only the charger was plugged in. They replaced the mainboard and I was only without it for 6 days. I found the whole support experience, here in Australia, to be really good.
    I bought mine a year ago and I realised the other day that I haven't taken the stylus out of the box it came in. I find the touch experience in Windows 11 really good so I mostly use my fat fingers if I haven't got a mouse handy.

    I'm tempted to get the ROG Flow Z13 (2023) GZ301 because of the 100% DP-3 color gamut alone. But, if the thing is only going to last 2 hours before I have to plug it in, and the customer support is that bad, then I think I will settle for the smaller color gamut in the Surface Pro 9.

    Hmmm Just switched to an Rog Flow Z13 from Surface Pro 7+, Surface is nice as an tablet for note taking and drawing as students or 2D Artists but I found it running rly slow and laggy with some Adobe programs. I'm a fashion design major college student, I need a more intense power machine to help me survive through learning 3D CAD, Fusion360, and CLO3D programs for 2nd semester so that's why I got Rog Flow Z13, it's a much powerful version of surface pro with dedicated graphic card to perform difficult tasks. This is gonna be the main pc I'll be using for doing homework other than the Alienware desktops at college. Btw rly hope the Surface Pros have dedicated GPU versions rather than integrated GPU, and Surface Laptop Studio is way too expensive for students.

      How has your experience been? I'm thinking of replacing my aging workhorse 2-in-1 (lenovo thinkpad X1 tablet gen 2), and looking at the options in that space nowadays (Surface, other tablet-form lenovo), the situation looks dire. They usually only have two USB C ports (I need at least one USB A for my unifying dongle), possibly no 3.5mm jack, and the absolute worst: no micro SD slot.
      I'm eyeing a much lower specced Flow Z13 (the one without the dedicated GPU, which lowers the whole price to 900-1k USD). I don't mind at all the performance hit (since I don't really game on my laptop anyway), but I don't know how ASUS' built quality is and how good their pen/stylus is

    Have any of the stylus-related issues improved with driver and software updates? I just ordered a Z13 to replace my surface laptop studio 2 because I just couldn’t live with that screen. Loved the performance while using the slim pen, but felt like I was using a panel from the 90s. Lol. My main use case is diagramming and other drawing apps so hope I didn’t make an even bigger mistake buying the ASUS. They do have a history of ship-then-fix, but support for the ROG Ally has been great since launch so I’m hopeful…

    • @TabletPro
      @TabletPro  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No changes that I am aware of. However installing Wintab (for Surface Pro 4)
      did help with some pen and touch issues, although it may have reverted on its own back to pre-wintab status.

    • @TabletPro
      @TabletPro  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm trying to figure out how to sell my Z13 to buy the Surface Laptop Studio 2. But have to figure a few things out about the switch. Curious how much the screen will bother me or not. I didn't have an issue with the Surface Laptop Studio and so I'm hoping it's negligible.

    • @Antwort2und40
      @Antwort2und40 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for the thoughts! I can confirm the palm rejection is pretty bad.. in fact, a lot worse than my yoga book 9i, which is just on the OK side of things for me. That’s a dealbreaker for me. I will try the wintab drivers but I suspect I’ll be returning this one. I’ve had 3 BSODs in 1 day so, also, so it hasn’t been a great start for me.
      I’m more sensitive to display issues than most-you may be fine with it. The ghosting on the SLS was 2000s-era bad, and the shimmer as you move your head around (naturally) isn’t great, either. All around a very underwhelming screen. From a pen perspective, though, it was smooth as butter! And the performance matched the Z13 even though the SLS I had was a 4050, and my Z13 is a 4060. Impressive optimization from Microsoft and the build quality is off the charts. Just don’t use the NPU for video or battery life is ~90 mins on Teams calls.
      Would love to know what you think when you get a hold of one.

  • @GrantSR
    @GrantSR 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Finally, I will re-ask my question, without any links, hoping UToob doesn't block it.
    Have you tried using the Microsoft Slim Pen 2 with this tablet. Does the tilt work? The Stylus that ASUS recommends for this tablet doesn't mention tilt in its description. However, an older ASUS stylus DOES mention tilt. So it is hard to tell whether this ROG Flow Z13 (2023) GZ301 tablet actually senses stylus tilt. In ASUS's huge, fancy web page, describing this tablet, they barely mention stylus support at all.

    • @TabletPro
      @TabletPro  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I’ve tried the slim pen 2 on the z13. It doesn’t perform as clean a line as the surface pen 2017 model does. Since the Slim Pen 2 is very expensive, requires a separate charger, and doesn’t draw as nicely I don’t recommend it at all for this model. The surface pen and the r530 stylus by renaisser are my recommendations. All the stylus including the Asus one support tilt on this device and almost every device. Hope that helps

The quoted me parts only to just replace the Keyboard. Don't even get me started on basic things that never worked no matter how hard I tried. I tried my best to overlook the shortcoming but I hit my limit at some point. I could never do wireless mirroring to my TV, something a 6 year old Surface could do, my 3.5mm Headset didn't work properly, the fan was almost alway on all the time.....
