I'm stoked for the Z13 tablet and G14.
I HOPE THE PRICE ISN"T STUPID.
Wasn't the starting price for the Z13 is $1900, from their ROG CES stream? 💀

No pen support on the Z13?
I have a feeling the price for the Z13 will be pretty stupid
yo dave, ignoring the price, how does the blade 14 compare to the G14?
I bought the g14 last year following your advice and it’s the best pc I’ve ever owned. It’s solid, sleek, beautiful and doesn’t scream HEY I’M A GAMER. I love that it has no rgb. Thx man
Yeah that’s why I bought it. I wanted a gaming laptop with a more professional design. I’ve had a few issues here and there with it but overall it’s been fantastic for me. It has been a bit annoying having now webcam but I knew that when I bought it, and I use ASUS software to use my phone as a webcam which is far better quality anyway.
Same here 👍
Is it still worth buying?
well it does have rgb. the matrix on the back of the laptop has white leds, which r made from combining rgb lights actually.

Does the razor external GPU work with it?

i am also convinced by the g14, but it doesnt have a lan port. why does asus do this?

It was only a few years ago (2015/2016) that laptops were so far behind desktops, it was no competition, but now laptops are so good, they're a full replacement for a desktop, even to the point where you can host an entire livestream and game on them at the same time. It's crazy how quickly laptops advanced.
your statement only applies to moderate gamers and thats it. As soon as you start caring about quality you'd need a lot more power, and lets not even talk about productivity workloads. Mobile GPU's are FAR behind desktop GPUs. (You're literally talking a minimum of 200 watts difference)
@@untitled795 define moderate gamers. cause honestly anyone who isnt a big time streamer would find much more monetary value in a laptop. they're cheaper, and you can move your setups much more easily. desktops are still better for the high end setups. but if you're not planning on spending 5-10k on a setup. there is no reason to choose a desktop over a laptop.
@@bread6235 i think I define it as anyone who is willing to not play on high settings. I’m sure there’s laptops that can do high or ultra settings on most recent games now though.
@@untitled795 well those types of players usually get consoles. up until recently my laptop had a 1660ti and i could pretty much run high, maybe ultra on settings on any game and get 60fps+ steady. but those who don’t care about laptop thickness can get a beefy laptop with high end specs for $1000.

The 3060 and 3050ti models were so ridiculously overpriced here by retailers because of the demand but it's still a good laptop nonetheless
Ouch, buyer's remorse
why not G15? just curios. whats the different?
I love how Asus made the G14 and it made more laptop makers realise "holy crap, people want a powerful 14" laptop!" so now we have the Alienware 14, Razer Blade 14 and the Acer Triton (no idea if thats getting updated this year) that have insane specs in a tiny package. My bet is the G14 is going to be the most popular one this year. The only way that G14 would be perfect for me would be if it had touchscreen.
To be fair the Razer Blade was 14” from 2013 to 2016 if I remember right. The bezels were large though so it was about the same size as today’s 15” bezelless laptops. My 2015 Blade had the best screen Ive ever seen on a laptop to this day though.
It was only a few years ago the best gpu you could get in a 14inch laptop was the mx150. Now we’re up 80+ watts on the gpu alone. So incredible.
exactly!! i hate having a large screen, it automatically makes the laptop way bulkier imho

I love my m16 but the fans get super loud in turbo or performance mode. Have you found a way to get the dedicated gpu to come online but not at full clock? Maybe it would be quieter? I can't seem to find one. In silent mode it uses the i9 graphics.

IMO It has never made sense why the laptops, gaming tablets ect never seem to come with a sim card slot allowing the user 4G-5G access with a carrier of your choice. All portable devices should come with the sim card slot option. For those wondering, I use to play Ghost Recon Wildlands online coop on a 4G hotspot from my phone, overall, the sim card wouldn't really be for gaming, but rather basic online every day use.
I agree, only the business laptops from Lenovo have sim card slots, but expensive gaming don't have any, need to purchase a dongle

@@FHNC4Ever That part was hilarious. 😂😂😂
something i would love to see on a laptop is a physical switch which disconnects battery when charger is plugged in. i work 10 hours everyday on a laptop so just plugging in all the time might damage battery and also recharging again and again might have impact. So when charger is connected, it can play like a desktop
If your laptop has a battery charge limit (60% or 80%) it will work in this way. Dell, Lenovo and ASUS laptops for example have this. The laptop runs of the mains when it reaches the charge limit
Gaming laptop batteries are already designed to function this way by default. The battery is bypassed whenever the charger is connected, minimizing usage and wear.
@@crazyforiegner2 okay, yes but no. it might help but i used to have dummy battery for my previous laptop back then since it was like docked all the time, but when i need it to work outside, i can just slide the real battery. i hope this is a thing.

From where u have got this laptop?
The tablet looks really cool, but I think they shouldn't have put an i9 in it. I k ow they are no benchmarks yet, but I think that thing is going to mess things up. Battery life and overheating might be an issue on it. A Ryzen 6900HS would serve much better in my opinion.
Asus has pretty awesome thermal performance across all their 2021 models. I do prefer Ryzen CPUs over Intel though. On a one to one basis Ryzen just performs better with Smart Access Memory.
is it gonna be a 12th gen i9? if so thermals might not be a problem
@@finthetrashcan yes, Intel's new stuff is much better than before, but it's still more power hungry. I think a tablet like this shouldn't go for maximum processing power, it's a tablet, so battery and efficiency should be ahead of that. It's only paired with a 3050 anyway. BTW, it would be fine if the i9 is a choice, but you should also be able to choose a ryzen 6000 is what I'm saying. It would make it much more affordable, and efficient, and those chips are still beasts.
It needs thunderbolt though, if it didn't have thunderbolt you would not be able to connect to an egpu. With this laptop having a powerful cpu and a 4gb gpu, that gpu is definitely a bottleneck. They even advertise thunderbolt egpu capabilities on their site.
@@potatosalad6802 the Z13 doesn't need thunderbolt because it also has the XG Mobile port for even better eGPU performance. Although those are currently very hard to get.
There are also models with less powerful Intel CPUs, but if you want AMD, you'd need to go with the Flow X13 instead.
I am beyond glad that Intel is now back at it, making big improvements with their CPUs. This just gives Laptop OEMS waaaaaay more options to design cool products!
big floppa agrees with the changes
I have a theory on how they can increase GPU wattage without really changing their cooling solution. It could be that the new AMD 6000 processors are more efficient than last year so that they need less cooling and the GPU can be cooled more effectively.
@Pietro Figura If the AMD CPUs are more efficient, then both AMD and Nvidia GPUs can draw more power, how is that invalid?
maybe? but they're still rated as 35W and 45W chips though? we'll have to see. it is supposed to be a slightly more energy efficient 6nm architecture with ryzen 6000
@@Dave2D I think Intel may have the performance crown this generation, but AMD is focusing on efficiency. I come to that conclusion because AMD talked extensively about the efficiency of the Ryzen 6000 series in their CES presentation, Intel, however, has only mentioned the performance increase. Because AMD knew they wouldn't win in performance, they made the chips even more efficient and instead do not directly compete with Intel but have their own market.
@Pietro Figura No problem. Paired with an AMD GPU, they might be even more efficient, but for that we will have to wait and see the reviews.
Could be just a better thermal paste
i did LOVE it! this couldn't have come at a better time since I'm going to purchase my first gaming laptop this year and honestly all of those looked fantastic even the tablet and the F15! I think I'm leaning towards the '22 G15 since I really wanted last year's model but couldn't afford it then
I'm curious how compatible are those machines with Linux, in terms of sensors and other proprietary hardware. :) ASUS has done some efforts in this regard, but more would be better. It's worth spending money on hardware that is properly supported by the manufacturer.
The only thing that sucks about getting gaming laptops is that there are upgrades of your current device or just better and new laptops coming out so often and so soon that it makes you feel like you have an old cheap laptop and wanting the newer better one, you barely get time to fully appreciate your device before a better one comes out

You're better looking to 2023 and the Nvidia RTX 40 series. That's what I'm doing. The rumors are of 2x a performance increase and my laptop will hold up until then just fine.
No need to upgrade that often man. Wait. 4000 series cards or 5000 series cards.
Omg this year laptops looks amazing, amd 6000 and intel 12000 series looks really promising.
Asus is really in search for the Incredibles these past few years lol
That tablet is huge for me. For me, in my laptop, I always value CPU Multithreaded performance more than any other metric. To get nearly 14 cores (Okay, 6 big, 8 small I get it but still), is such a big deal in a small package. And to have the versatility of the GPU plugin is great.
what do you do with it tho ?

The studio somehow pulls off an aesthetically pleasing basement/warehouse look
Asus has been making some really cool stuff lately, I have a 2021 g14 and I couldn't be happier tbh, and the 2022 version seems to have some great new upgrades too, they are making unique products which have useful features instead of gimmicks, like the g14 is insanely light for a gaming laptop and has great battery life, the display could have been brighter but I'm still very satisfied with the display overall(I have the 1440p 120hz model) the build feels great, I absolutely love the keyboard, the trackpad is great for a windows laptop(but still not as good as the macbooks) the biggest annoyance I have is that it doesn't have a webcam(the 2022 version has a webcam tho D:) , and it's not even the fact that I use my laptop's webcam very often or something, but it's about it BEING THERE, like when a rare situation occurs and you DO NEED IT, it's not there which doesn't happen a lot with me(hardly happened less than 5 times in like the past 6 months) but when that does happen it's really inconvenient and you'll be forced to use your phone instead which is a huge bummer, especially for video calls(ik that u can use your phone as a webcam and I have tried that but it seems like a hassle to set up, and then u need something to set your phone on, and have to make sure they both have a good connection etc.
but as far as I know, no other gaming laptop is this light and portable and has this good of a battery life and as I'm a college student, these 2 were my main priorities
Is the laptop still good? I'm planning on getting the 2022 version soon, and I'm thinking of getting that laptop for school reasons too, but I also want to know if the temps get really hot , I've watched videos but i want more detail, does it get too hot to touch the keyboard? Bought a M16 on sale for Black Friday, and it’s the best computer I’ve ever used. Asus is really killing it right now
I love ASUS, they always make such cool products and always seem to push the boundaries of innovation

Bought the M16 Zephrus with intel CPU and NVDA Gpu was on sell during the holidays.. love that dam thing
I've used Dell, HP, LG laptop, but only two brands I return to consistantly - Lenovo for business, and Asus for personal/gaming. Looks like my next gaming laptop will be another Asus. With the dominance of TSMC, Taiwanese tech companies are really rising up to new heights.
"now it's a 2D version of this device." love that line haha
Asus in a league of their own. Exactly why I love them 💯
No ROG Flow X13?
Can't wait for the Rog Zephyrus Dou 16 review!!! I'm checking your channel everyday!
So, I bought a 2021 G14 just after Christmas. Loved it, but wished very specifically that it had a webcam and a 16x10 aspect ratio. And then they announced THIS. So yeah, returned it and eagerly awaiting the new king of laptops. (Although I'm a little annoyed that they lost the print screen key again.)
I’m so glad the entire lineup this year has mux switches.
I hope it remains that way for years to come. And that other manufacturers follow suite.
Bought one 3080 Asus laptop last year and hardly used it. Now looking at these i want one lol
Hardly use it ? Donate me. *winkwink
I love Asus. Rocking 2020 g14.hoping I held off that webcam was so needed. And the 16x10 is *chefs kiss*
I have the a15 (4800h 1660ti) and it has great performance and thermals. I like that the cooling fans both come out with 2-3 screws for easy cleaning or replacement.
Why didn't you talk about the M16??
The G15 is extremely disappointing this year, when you look at the updates the G14 received, & the M16 should've had a cooling upgrade, but didn't... but it's still more interesting than the G15 imo because of the way better screen & 12th Gen intel
because they're not ready yet. i want the m16 in my hands though, that's a machine that should HEAVILY improve from 12th gen
@@Dave2D yeah that's what I was hoping, it's why I held off buying the 11th gen version of the M16, I honestly think this is the best overall buy for me because I'm happy to sacrifice some performance for a better & slightly bigger display.
My main concern is the lack of vapor chamber for the M16 though, like from rumours I've heard, I'm concerned the M16 will still have cooling issues even with the 12th gen.
Hope not though, this is the frontrunner for new laptop buy for me...it's time I finally got rid of my 6 year old MSI GT72S big boi 😅
@@WildfireX You seem really caught up on Intel products. I'm assuming you need the Thunderbolt?...
@@damienlobb85 Not especially.
I wanted to switch to AMD a few years back, but by the time I got to a point where I feel I really need a new machine, intel have seemingly closed the gap in a lot of ways.
& Honestly, I can live without the marginal performance differences. It's mostly about the machine itself for me & how they handle the cooling
If the Intel chip on the 12th gen is way too hot, then it might make me reconsider & but the G14. But if the new chip is actually good, & does drastically improve on the previous M16 battery life tests/temperatures then the M16 is the buy for me.
It's mostly about the screen size & display quality for me, along with the other general goodies of being able to do gaming on it & have good performance for things like after effects.
I don't know how is feel about dropping down to a 14 inch screen tbh... I'm 6'5 & my hands aren't small, so I've always been used to using 17inch laptops, a 14 inch just seems too tiny for me to comfortably use.
Hell, even the M16 the biggest issue I have with it outside of the potential cooling issues, is the lack of a number pad!! I use a number pad a lot, but I guess I could always buy an external one.
@@damienlobb85 Thunderbolt isn't an Intel advantage this time, USB4@40 gbps should be the same for the Ryzen 6000 series.
Intel has more threads this time for multithreading workloads though.
I love the X13 and I'm once again blown away seeing the Z13!
I contacted ASUS to make a stretch gamepad (like the ROG Kunai) fitting the X13 and Z13.
Imagine playing the most powerful 13.4" gaming laptop/tablet with a 4k touchscreen in handheld mode!
Weight would be +/- 500g more than the Steam Deck, but resting it on a pillow (like I play handheld) would be just fine.
Btw. check out the video on my channel if you wanna see the X13 in combo with a 32:9 screen xD A dream coming true.
It's still too heavy to be played like a nintendo switch, your wrists will be damaged after long sessions
A guy built an XL version of the Switch and enjoys it pretty much, even though it weighs 1578g.
th-cam.com/video/-LtqhD8yrZo/w-d-xo.html
For long sessions I would use a pillow on the lap for support, in fact then you would barely feel the weight at all.
@@AdioAurel interesting, if it suits your needs it's all I can wish besides wrists health
Haha cheers, will be intense workout.
I dig that G14 vapor chamber. Definitely adds to the look.
It’s literally inside of the laptop bro what u talking about?

Been an AMD fanboy since the 700 mhz Athlon, and been an Asus fanboy since switching to their motherboards for my desktop builds in the early 2000s. I own a 2020 G14 and a 2021 G15 w/nvidia 3080. I'm very happy that my choices have not disappointed over the years.
I want a tablet like the z13 that doesn’t need a stand when the keyboard is attached to it.
Imagine intel and amd doing computers using only their tech leaving Nvidia out to make their own CPUs...
I wouldn't be surprised if that happened. AMD mobile gpus are getting better and work well with their cpus. Intel has their own cpus and will try and push slot of their laptops equipped with their gpus.
I've had a feeling this is why Nvidia has been pushing to purchase ARM

Wish the G14 could be ordered with 32gb onboard but it does look awesome...
Weird that the G15 doesn't get a 16:10 screen upgrade...
Ive got the HP OMEN 15 (2020) 144hz / R7 4800H / RTX 2060 / 16GB RAM / 1TB nvme.m2
But it does have a lot issues and windows errors... The frequence from the vents isnt really good at gaming too but i cant compare it to other Gaming Laptops.
