I remember a few years ago when Govee was a new company and now has earned quite a good reputation. Govee is killing it!
Chris is "that neighbor" lol
He probably has people outside his house at night stopping to take photos, especially during Christmas time lol
Lol it definitely happened when I was recording this!
the people outside know how much Govee charges and are stealing them..
I'd be interested in seeing that conversion to WLED - I love the form factor of a lot of these products but I hate being locked into proprietary apps and the risk of the lights becoming useless if the company ever went under.
Yeah I hear ya! I think Govee is a pretty safe bet but I have done a couple videos on converting to WLED. So far pretty much everything I've tried is able to be converted except for the permanent outdoor pro lights!
@@ChrisMaherDIY Good to hear!
@@ChrisMaherDIY I have the Ground units heading my way but will only need to 25 feet for front bed. I want use the other 25ft and will have to use WLED since Govee doesn't sell controllers alone. Before I cut open the wire, is it clear which wire is which (power, data, ground)?
Really love how you're tieing all that in.
What are some of the comments you get from your neighbors?
Thanks so much! Lol they say they love it! But I don't have crazy light shows going unless its on a holiday or around Christmas time! But I do have the warm lights on every evening and neighbors love that look!
I absolutely love all of this, have slowly started to install govee into my house
It's a fun hobby for sure!! I'd love to see how your setup looks!
Taste in music is on point!
The Christmas decorations you could come up with these things.
I'm for sure ready for Christmas! I just need to put back up their Christmas string lights around the front pillars and I'm done!
Nice, Christmas in june
Govee has been killing it. We're actually thinking about getting rid of our Hue ecosystem for the Govee, hands down. I'm also looking at their new String Downlights for rooms.
Great video! I’ll have to check it out myself.
Looks awesome man. Govee is definitely staying on top of the game.
Thanks for watching!! Appreciate the support buddy!
Chris, do you know a way to have the lights be motion activated? I’d like some lights on the side of my house, when I take the trash around at night. There are no installed lights there now, but I have power outlets, so motion activation is better than having a light switch installed.
If you go with Govee products they just came out with an outdoor motion sensor. I have not tried it out yet but I do plan on ordering it to see how it works with my setup!. amzn.to/3yCZgej
@ChrisMaherDIY YES - please get the motion sensor
saw the Outdoor Wall Light some time ago and I was wondering what they would look like, Chris never disappoints! At this point Govee should sponsor you (come on guys)😅 Keep up the good work bud, you are my source of LED lights on YT 😉
As always, love your video!
Thanks buddy!! Appreciate the support and thanks for watching!!
How do those ground lights plug in and do they hold up when cutting the grass?
This looks really great. How is mowing and edging around the lights in the front yard?
Thanks for watching! I use the trimmer around the ground lights and then mow right up next to them. So far no issues!
Thank you Chris.
Thanks as always buddy!!
@@ChrisMaherDIY 🤝
4:50 I wonder how long they'll last til the critters get to them. Squirrels, rabbits, mice... As a cable guy, they're job security for us
For the ground lights- Is there lots of slack from the plug to the first light? Does it have a giant power box?
Which camera do you use please reply🙏🙏
Please, could you review the new Govee RGBWW + RGBIC Smart Ceiling Light
very nice
hot damn thats epic
Thanks! I love the warm lights for everyday use but I'm also definitely ready for Christmas!
looks really nice, how can i buy this from canada
The only thing Govee is crushing is your wallet....
What the cost rundown?
christmas time gonna be on fire!
I'm definitely ready for Christmas! Only thing I'll add is their Christmas string lights around the front pillars. Thanks for watching!
@@ChrisMaherDIY you’ll have one of those fancy Christmas light shows.
Will the outdoor puck lights survive mowing machines?
Can you convert this into a plug in ?..????
I hope one day Govee comes up with a pro solution that uses a low voltage transformer. Plugging everything into an outlet is a bit much.
That would be awesome! Their House lights get plugged into the main power which is nice but yeah I have a few extension cords hidden for the other stuff!
I agree. And their "waterproof" boxes don't instill much confidence. I always put mine in those OtterBox type enclosures from Walmart.
It’s not the most elegant solution but I try to run all my Govee outdoor lights in a way that allows for all their controllers and plugs to end in the same place.
I put them all in a PVC junction box (the gray ones that can be found at most big box retailers, like Home Depot or Lowes), where I also have one end of a three-plug outdoor extension cord. I then run the cord to my outdoor receptacle.
How about a new better app?
Looks like govee has a lack of processing horsepower. Those FPS are pretty low and laggy in the beginning, particularly noticeable on the 3 garage panels where the same animation is playing on all 3. They're not in sync.
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment! Processing power is fine. Govee has some animations programmed to move fast and some programmed to move slow. Dreamview does not yet allow the curtain lights to be grouped together so they all act independent of each other.
Some one threw up gamer on your house.
This feels very subtly sponsored by Govee, despite no mention that it is.
So what?
Chris often uses whatever is new and available… govee is just the company doing the most of this stuff, and making it easy and reliable.
He bought the lights
Why does it matter?
WARNING: this is NOT the typical low voltage from this channel. This installation will mess you up if you don’t know what you’re doing. Go watch a couple of regular light installation videos to learn about safety before starting this project, if you’ve primarily only worked with low voltage stuff.
Just wanted to point it out since the primary content in this channel is very safe to handle. Unlike this one.
Also, if you’re not familiar with what’s going on here, don’t use a drill to tighten your electrical box screws. Chris clearly is used to it, so it’s okay.
If this is new to you, can overdrive the screws if not doing by hand.
Also, he used Wago nuts. If you don’t know what that is, just look it up. It will make your life easier 😀
Looks tacky unfortunately
Let's see yours, cool guy.
Sorry you don't live a colourful life.
