I live in San Antonio and about to purchase a 100ft. set of these lights I have a single story house with 3 peaks could you give me a rough Idea how much your install would cost?
Great video and great advice. I have just 2 comments or suggestions. First, I have discovered that when i use the solider and seal connectors sometimes the wire will poke through the plastic side causing a possible short situation. So i place a section of shrink tubing with the glue/sealer inside over the connectors as added insurance. Then also to further seal with another shrink tube over all three extrnded about 1/2 inch past each end. Second, i had enough overhang of my facia board that i put my lights on the back of the facia board aming toward the house. Thus hides the lights almost completely and lights up washing the house wall much brighter.
Thank you for commenting. I’ve never had that issue with this brand of solder and seal when you mention the wire poking through. I have had this issue when using just the heat shrink sleeve without the solder so I stop using that type. The sleeve on these have a silicone in them when they get heated up when properly done. I can see someone who doesn’t know how to work with these have that issue so that is a good suggestion to have another seal cover the hole connections after complete. Wouldn’t hurt. To answer your suggestion on the lights on the back of the fascia facing the wall. Installed this way for one of my clients because they asked for it to begin and they ended up not liking it. They would rather have the triangle effect like shown in my videos instead of blasting light shown on the wall. Of course they paid me to re do it and it wasn’t worth the hours and headaches we got from it so I’ll never bring that up. I do mention to all my clients that it isn’t track lighting. Most of them are ok with it because it’s a knockoff from bigger types of lighting at a lower cost. For the ones that will pay to paint the lights to match the soffit, I’ll do it for them. Also have to consider a house I did had 4 different soffits spacing in the front alone, some 5inches some 12 inches and the others in between. Casting would've been different in those areas. So to keep everything even as I always recommend 2 to 4 inches. Thank you, this will help with someone’s install
Do you have a video showing your install with the lights installed onto the fascia board having the lights pointing back at the house? What was the estimated distance between the light to the house?
Literally the comment I was looking for !!!! I wasn't sure if the lights would light up decent if I did that, because I noticed that if I installed them as you did it would preety much conceal them...
This is really nice. I was wondering about splicing them but thankfully I just made a constant 50ft run. I had extra leftover but I dealt with it instead if cutting to fit.
Man, beautiful work! Wow. So meticulous in the details. Can you do a video on how to group two kits together when installed? Would love a thorough walk through so I know what I'm doing 😅 thanks!
Just had the pleasure of messaging JB. I want to thank him for taking the time to explain all the possible steps that it’s going to take me to get my lights installed properly. Thanks for putting out these video, kind heart and insight. Let’s follow and subscribe.
@slongsta Really appreciate that🙏 Thank you for your support and I’m glad I was able to help you. If I can help, at my convenience I will. Hard work money at stake so do it right the first time. 👍
Great video.. Thats what I would expect a professional install to look like. I didnt even know about those water proof heat shrink. I could have definitely used those both times I've put lights up. I wish Govee gave us some color options for the cables though so you didnt have to color match. Maybe one day
I really appreciate you taking the time to view my video. I really like how you spilled out in your video what needs to make sense when installing these Govee lights. Everyone pays a pretty penny to buy these govee lights and everyone ask these questions but that’s the reason why they do it, so you can buy more. I’m trying to help to viewer so that’s why I started making videos on theses lights. I don’t know what happened to my comment on your page but I’d like to post again if your ok with it. Maybe one day we can collaborate on a topic. Good luck with your journey my man.👍
Very nice job! One question, I just purchased a Govee RGBIC Permanent Outdoor light Set 100' Model H705A can these be cut to fit? I have solder waterproof sleeves but not sure what happens if I cut this run ....These things cost way to much to screw up!
Thank you for watching. The kit on the Govee website does say do not splice. Now, they say that cause if you do, it voids their warranty. That doesn’t mean they can’t be spliced but you need to have some knowledge of voltage drop when customizing your own length of wire jumps and take the amount of strands you have vs how many times you have to customize. Like I mentioned in the video, do all this at your own risk
The driver modules on Amazon says it will not work on anything but the Pro lighting. My question is why? I have just bought the regular set. I would think this would boost the signal if the system is extended with spliced wiring while staying within the 150 get, give or take a few feet. Also, if this can be used, can the wiring on this driver be spiced and used as an extension? If that could possibly be done it would be cheaper,(since the driver is only $19)and not void the warranty on the system. Thanks for the awesome video, definitely gave a great option to extend the wiring. Wish Govee would make longer wiring extensions and even ones with drivers so splicing will not be needed. They could even make a t-connection.
It will not work with any other version and has been tested. The way the lights themselves are made to respond to the module is the difference. Only can be used on the H706 models. Use a 12ft Govee Extension and splice new 18/3 wire to make a longer jump
@@jbsdiytv can I splice both ends of the jumper the 100 foot set comes with? First level I have a spliced end, need to jump to second level and continue with the same spliced segment. Or would I be better off adding 3 pin waterproof connectors to the ends of the spliced segment? And then connecting the jumper.
Yes sir they are. I understand that the line can be seen and everyone mentions that but other than that, why spend 2,000 extra on something else when you can improvise with these. Awesome, glad it all worked out. 💪 👊 Hey look it this way, you can do a review on it. Every one of my videos is Creative Commons so you have my permission to use my video as an example👌
@@martybli thank you for watching my video. If you decide to do this on the picket side(usually to the street) then the white wire will stand out and the lights will need to be put on their sides if you want the triangle effect. Or you can face them out. If you do it on the inside, it would work on the edge of the top rail 2x4 with the adhesive pad and clips. This install will be close to a home installation look.
@@jbsdiytv I know you can't do any more than 150 ft of lights but if the house is bigger than that, do you just need to connect it to a different outlet? And can you sync up the different 150 light strands if you had two different segments?
I want to install these on my house but worried about the wiring sticking out like a sore thumb during the day. My siding and soffits are vinyl. I'm not spray canning on vinyl. They should consider selling grey, tan, etc colored wires. Your video and process was great except for the spray paint overspray. What happens when it comes time to paint the house?
Hi and thanks for watching. These are items we discuss with our clients before we start any quotes. We have to make it clear before we proceed. This is a 3rd party product and warranties it comes with it is what you get. Of course, if we are in the area we will definitely replace a strand if it goes bad once the client requests warranty replacements or buys new strands. Our clients are fully aware and majority just want their lights up
So you used 2 100ft sets and there were 2 runs of 95ft tied to a common power receptacle in the back. Questions: 1. Govee says not to cut the strings. If so why did Govee provide the 12 ft extension or did you buy that separately? 2. Did each 95 ft run use their respective drivers or did you tie them all together with another bigger driver? 3. Does Resynch procedures @ 13:30 work if you had 2 47 ft parallel runs instead of a 95ft series run OR does the driver only work with series runs?
Hi Tom, thanks for watching our content. We are using 18 guage - 1” brad nails since our Ryobi Brad Nail gun requires 18gauge only. Follow what is recommended on your tool. Thanks for your comment
@@THEEBAYSTOREDOTCOM you can find a ryobi glue gun at Home Depot. One thing I would like to add is that we try and not use glue anymore since over time it does get brittle. So what we’ve been doing is getting a hook tool and tucking it under the flashing and it has been concealing it from the elements
Near the beginning of this video you mention a previous video that you did. It sounds like I need to watch that one too. Can you provide the link or tell me the title and date? Thank you!
Hi there and thanks for your comment. We used a 2x2 (2inch) wood craft block to space our lights for install. This helps to give the cone effect that everyone comments on. There is a link in my description to purchase either 2,3 or 4inch blocks. Further than 4” makes the light expand out to a rounded look if that’s your thing.
Hi there thanks for the video. How does that 18/3 connector wire hold up to the elements over time being exposed to the TX heat, rain, etc. just laying on the shingles like that? That's my only concern that it's not hidden behind the eaves in the attic. I live in FL we have horrible humidity and sun.
The lights and wire are rated IP-67 rated. 65-67 both provide a high level rating and provide excellent protection for outdoor enclosures. I did spray a clear protectant over the line of the 12’ extension to protect it from some of the elements which I didn’t show in the video. I apply this to most painted materials when I do handyman projects to protect outdoor paints exposed to elements. Some of these items we keep addressing in our future installations so it wouldn’t hurt to protect them more if you can. Thank you for your questions
Thanks for watching. Yes we do, going on our 67 install this year in Texas. We will be going outside of Texas middle of next year. There a social media links at the top for the page
Hey sir. How you doing? I bought 2 set of 50ft. I was planning to connect all 6 string to one power supply can that be done? When I need to do 3 jumps One of 17ft, 11ft and 9ft The first jump I have to cut between lights in the 2nd string I use 18g wire and make sure all the connections are good I power up and only 1 light turn on after the jump. The wire jump is 17ft What do you do when you do jumps like that?
There is a new model coming out it's the Permanent Outdoor Lights Pro model H706C. I am currently testing them out. Biggest difference is they come in a 60m or 196', this is what they sent me. Also they are able to be spliced. They sent some connectors to allow the splicing. So far so good. Great video btw. I used this for my install.
Yes that is correct. I follow the Govee group’s and comment on their ads. Seems like they might have a different color of line instead of just white. We will see. Thank you for watching, glad your installation went well
@@jbsdiytv I got white, so not entirely sure about the color but I've read that somewhere also. I posted a small review on the community page at Govee.
@jeves360 where did you find this info? Tried googling the model number a bunch of different ways to see more info on them, but couldn't find a thing other than an item number in an obscure page in their site like a placeholder. Super interested in checking these out before buying and having to splice. Any details would be really appreciated
@@jbsdiytvI am not going to use Govee because their app has security and privacy holes that can be used to hack your personal info. I am likely going to use appeck lights and use the stand alone remote.
In addition to a question asked earlier about extending the wiring on a driver module (waiting in answer) Can I splice and extend the original extension. It is 9 feet, can it be extended an additional 15 feet with a splice? Everything is still within the 150 feet total.
The normal version is H705. By your model type, you have the Elites. There isn’t a Y-split available on the market that we know of. We try and stay away from Y-split as the strands mirror each other. So for instance, you run a Govee scene, you won’t tell. When you start creating solid colors or accent lighting, you won’t have individual control on the strands tied into each other
Installing closer than the 2 inch minimum will probably void the warranty and be non-compliant to codes. It must be installed 2-4 inches from the wall as stated on the package.
@@jbsdiytv just seeing if are paying attention. The 2” advice is really about the light cone and how the nearest wall will be illuminated. But so many people out there are quick to say, oh yeah, before thinking in it.
I thought I saw somewhere that when you cut the light sections there is a minimum number of lights needed in that section for them to still work. I have a corner overhang that would only need like 4 lights on it and it would be spliced on both ends of that four light strand. Would that work out cause a problem? Thanks and great video.
Hi there and thanks for watching. Yes, they are group of 4 sections. You can’t end with less than 4. When you splice it, make sure to use liquid electrical tape. Before you do that, make sure no copper strands touch each other. I have a new video coming out that explains the set up and app features that will explain your question.
Do you know of any manual or clear instructions for programming multiple sets of lights? Also, is there any info for controlling groups of lights when outside of bluetooth range.
Hi there. Thanks for watching. At the beginning of the video there is the planning for a guide. The longer jumps we used the 12’ blank extensions provided by Govee, the rest of the jumps were 3-18awg wire. Hope this helps
What was the total linear length of lights installed on this video? And if you have a constraint of 150’ per controller, how do you get all lights to be in sync?
I think he said it was 100 feet in the beginning. Govee sells a light show box that can control multiple lights using Bluetooth and can also synchronize them to music
Hi guys, thanks for watching. Been super busy with Christmas and Govee installs so I apologize for the delay. We used two 100ft kits as one side was 95ft and then the other side was another 95ft. We were able to group the controllers in same model group. Yes the the light show box your talking about is this one, see link below amzn.to/3Td0cOA
That’s amazing. I hope it isn’t to hot where you live. Stay hydrated and be safe when you install. Plan ahead, measure twice cut once!! Check out my upcoming video for some further tips and tricks. Thanks for your support🤝🙏
Only difference is that they have designated warm white LEDs vs the 1st gen uses other colors to make white. Also would like to add that the 1st generation lights void the warranty if you splice and the pros doesn’t void the warranty since it can be spliced
Link provided for the clips are little different from the ones used in the video. I would like to use the. Nail gun as well will these clips made of the the Same material. I would hate to purchase them and find out that they crack if nailed with gun. Thanks for the video
The ones you are looking for keep selling out. Yes those are different but they work for all our installs. Make sure it sits flat on the surface material
That was my question as well. He had stated 95 ft on each side of the house. That’s 190 feet total (not sure if his 95 foot measurement included the spliced extensions or not). Which is well over the 150 feet maximum length for a single controller. Edit: Nvm, he answered this in a separate reply. He used 2 controllers, one for each side and grouped them in the app to be in sync.
What product would y'all use if you needed to do a 3 way split, not just 2 way? I have a house I'm going to be doing and they have a gable as well as a straight area to cover.
We typically don’t do 2-ways or 3 ways because the devices can be grouped as one system. If you wanted to make a 2 or even a 3 way, just keep in mind whatever line you tie into, those lights will mirror that strand. Which is not a problem when you use your Govee scenes but only a problem when you do your accent spot lighting as you turn a particular lights, the strand attached will also respond. He is something you can try out to see if it works for you amzn.to/4aFXiYn
Jb … thanks for the vid. Just finished my install. Only snag was on the jumps. I used my own 18 gauge 3-wire but my jumps needed to be 11’. The system didn’t work until I shortened the jumps to about 6’. What do I do if I need longer jumps at 11’ or 12’ ? Will use if the two 12’ jumps supplied by Govee do the trick? What if you don’t have male and female Govee ends to add on like in your video? Appreciate the help. Thanks for the reply.
Awesome. Glad the videos could help with your install. What kit did you end up buying? Pros or no Pros? Once you provide me with lil more info to the kit you bought I should be able to help out. One thing I can say is that if you need more than 12ft jumps we have spliced 3-4ft in the middle of the 12ft extension. The signal boxes in the Govee extensions need to remain
I have the H705C kit. 150’ with two 12’ Govee extensions. I needed to cut and splice at two different points to reach a roof peak. I used 18 gauge 3-wire jumps that were initially about 11’ each. This resulted in flickering about half way past the first jump. When trouble shooting, I cut the first jump down to about 6’ and the prob was solved until the next jump. When I cut the second 11’ jump down to about 6’ … entire prob solved and entire system works fine. But I really need those two jumps to be about 11’ each to hide and run the wires correctly.
@edhammel9535 I see. It’s tough to splice with the 12ft extension on the 150ft kit since they have them on both ends. You could purchase the Asahom 6ft extension from my site to use their connections
JB, would you be able to share based on your expertise, are Govee PRo same, better or less quality compared to trimlight , oleo or minleon? Guess my point is will these be with installing and lasting long enough compared to competitors ?
I never encourage defamation of another business practices. Govee lights don’t have a track vs the other competitors installs. Factor that in price. I have had my no pro lights on my home installed for about 2yrs now and can say this, I run mine for 12hrs everyday. They look great and are bright. The light is defined by the cone on the wall. It’s not a must to run them that long but I’m doing it for testing purposes for longevity. They do have 50,000hrs of life. You can have your lights stay up there on the soffits if you actually take some extra time to clip every light, use 3D mounts sold by others or customize yours to raceway channel. Other businesses who install permanent lighting are now competing with homeowners purchasing their own type of permanent lighting so of course bash the product off info on research that a bad installer did. Do it right the first time and you won’t have problems. From an installers perspective on the non pros and pros, we choose to install the pros because they are easier to install. For example, the non pros are one directional LEDs when splicing. It must all go back the way it was cut. The pros, the strands don’t need to be cut in sequence. I can take a piece from another strand and they still work. You still need to keep the connectors running the same though. Non pros are not warranted after splicing but pros are warranted if spliced. The non pros use 3 colors to make white vs the pros have specific LEDs designated for both warm and cool white and that’s a major pure difference. On non pros when installed from left to right it shows white with a tint of green and when installed right to left it shows white with a tint of purple. Pros are slightly brighter. Hope this gives you a perspective on the product and the two kit differences
When you mention to only use the insulated 3 color wiring over a small distance, how small of a distance does it have to be? Would it work over 5-6 feet?
Great video! I am currently planning my install here, but I have one question for you. I have an issue transitioning from my main soffet up to one of my peaks. I am running 3 full strands and then i need 2 more lights off the new strand before i cut it to run the custom extension up to my peak. I keep reading that you must have a minimum of 4 lights before you cut or it wont work. In my case, I have the 3 strands, plus the 2 lights, then the extension will be reconnecting to the remaining lights in the 4th strand. I just want to make sure i understand the rule correctly before cutting my lights, i assume that as long as my strand, once connected has more than 4 lights in it, it will be fine, is that correct?
Hi there. We install all our lights 2-4” from wall. You will get a nice triangle effect and it looks clean. Most want to get away from those measurements and get a round look but that looks somewhat ok for the scene modes but does not look good when accent lighting is used. Hope this info helps
We typically use the 18-3 or 20-3 for at least 2-3ft jumps if we have one or two jumps and 1-2ft if we have three to five jumps. If you have jumps longer than 6ft I don’t recommend using this with out some kind of data booster or splicing some lights in your custom extension because the lights themselves can be used as data boosters
I may have missed it but are you using one controller for the two 100ft kits or did you link the two somehow? If linked how and how many can be linked?
When the time comes to paint, will it be adequate to just mask each light? Also, I wonder if there is a track system or similar to conceal the wires. I am not a fan of the exposed wires.
When it comes time to paint, they sale stickers on Amazon that are 7/8” diameter to fit on the lens. Not everyone is to worry about it, and I always ask them before install starts. Some have HOA that it’s written it needs to be on a track and color match so I get that so I accommodate them. Solely it’s the owners liability if it’s written and mentioned in the invoice. But it can be painted after. Yes the best track is @BearLightStudios
Yes not a problem at all. Good luck with your install. If you really want us to travel to Colorado we can discuss numbers. Just let us know. We have other social platforms at the top of our page to reach us
Hi there. Thank you for your interest for an install. Do you happen to have a Facebook messenger so we can collect some info from you? Our page link is at the top of our channel. Hope to hear from you. Thanks
Thanks for the videos! Your mount clip link is for transparent clips. Won't those break when I try to nail them? Do you know where to find the white plastic clips?
Thanks for your comment. They will break if you have your brad nailer at max power. There is no need for max power. Set it to the lowest and adjust the nail head wheel on the side of the gun. Hope this helps. Links to all my products are in the description(3 dots)
No it’s when you splice the wire and you need to bring the wire back together , you use the waterproof heat shrink solder sleeve to bring them together for a solid bond. Then you use the heat gun to shrink it. I don’t recommend taping or crimping it
Forgive me if this is already answered: You mention the white/green/red wire should only be used for “smaller jumps.” “Smaller” is relative. What length would be considered too long. I have a 14’ and 9’ gap I am trying to figure out. I am completely stuck considering Govee only provides ONE 12’ and does not sell additional strands by themselves. Please advise. Thank you very much.
Hi there and thanks for watching. No worries at all. If you have just one small jump that is about 3ft then it’s doable but if you have multiple(at least 5) jumps then you will need to try and keep those under 2ft. On the first generation lights, the 100ft kit comes with one 12ft blank extension. The 150ft comes with two. On the Pros, comes with one 12ft blank extension and two 4ft. Hope this helps you
@SGMercer it should come with two 12’ Govee extensions. Check one more time, if it doesn’t have it then reach out to Govee website for support and let them know
The Brad nailer I used was a Ryobi 18gauge with 1” nails. The links are in the description so you know the exact info of the products. Thanks for watching
No they are not. This is a Govee DIY product. Trim light uses pixels, others use pucks lights that snap into a track. Most of those companies charge 5-7k for 100ft install. We are just meticulous with all our installs and we install above the manufacturer’s recommendations to last longer
If it’s not to exceed 150ft, are you saying don’t even use the included 12ft extender if you have the 150ft kit? Also, at 12:16, I don’t understand what you mean when you said you did 4 splices on the 12ft extender.
We had 95 feet to the left so that is 1-100ft kit and 95ft to the right so that’s another 100ft kit. In each box, there is a 12’ extension. We used those two at the two longer jumps. Each side after using the provide extension and our custom jumps the total feet added is 124ft under the recommended 150ft If you buy a 150ft kit, it’s a different story. You can use what Govee provided. Sorry for the confusion. There were 2-12ft extensions used like described at the beginning of the video for planning and layout. At each location of those 12ft extensions, we spliced 2 times there and another 2times at the other to make those jumps possible. Hope this clears up your question
Hi there and thanks for watching our channels content. Yes we would consider it. Please message us on IG @jbsholidandchristmaslighting or on FB @ JB’s Holiday and Christmas Lighting LLC
Thanks for the informative video! I just ordered a 150' kit. I understand that you can cut a string shorter as long as it is kept in a group of 4. In other words, the entire run should be divisible by 4. I have just one question in regard to splicing and extending. Can the string only be cut and extended between groups of 4, or can it be cut and extended between any of the LED's? Example: A string has 12 LED's I believe. If I have a section that only fits 7 LED's, can I extend it there as long as I put the remaining 5 LED's on the other end of that extension?
No the groups of 4 doesn’t matter anymore. @Chrismayherdiy tested this theory with one light. You can cut anywhere and make your jump with either the 12ft Govee extension or make very small custom jumps
This might be a dumb question; however do the strands have run the the same direction from the power source or can they “y” off from an outlet? Thank in advance for help
So i have a question, so the 150 ft kit comes with one power box correct? If we are going from an eve to a peak, and you make a cut, how do you regain power? Stupid question, just have no clue what im doing
When we do installs, we try and have a factory connection end start before the jumps so we can use a Govee extension to make the jump without splicing. Then work from those strands out
This install was 2-100ft Non Pro kits. We powered at two back locations. Since then, we have done thing a little different on routing since we know their capabilities
Thank you for your support. Once you have a second kit, you can group them in the app to run as one kit. Install all your strands working in one direction. Left to right or right to left so it looks in sync
This type of lighting is DIY. I don’t believe it will pass inspection but that’s my opinion. This is all mentioned to the client in writing before we install. This is a 3rd party product
amzn.to/3XgX8kY they also sale 100ft rolls as well. If it’s the pros, splice between a Govee extension to keep data frequency disturbance to a minimum. Same goes with the non pros, elites and gen 2’s
I'm getting syncing issues between jumps, before the first splice works, after the spice only does white. And recommendations before i order another set?
That’s is a bad strand. We have encountered this in many installs. Don’t order anything. Take a photo or video and post it to the Govee website for a free strand replacement. Well you did a custom jump probably so you will probably not get another free strand
Hey JD, sir, you did a heck of a job. I just had one question for you, I have to use two 100 lights per side of my home with two different controllers. Is there a way that they can be synced together. Thanks for the video. Very nice.
Hi there, yes there is a way called grouping the controllers. You can also set timers and schedules. In there, if one 100 is going one way and the other is going the opposite way, you can adjust one to clockwise and counterclockwise. Go take a look at the Govee app (Detailed video) for a visual. Good luck
Hi there. Light spacing is 17” center to center. Govee provides a 12ft extension in the 100ft box and 2-12ft extensions on the 150ft set. If you’re going to be using custom wiring, I would only use those for small jumps like 1-2ft. If not you have voltage drop and cause flickering in your lights
Man, excellent video. Thank you for not trying to be a ridiculously acting "Influencer". Extremely informative!
Thank you for watching. We really appreciate your support
Best video out of them all. Love how it turned out

2” from the wall
@@joseluisperezjr3285Yea, i'm also interested in seeing how your installed lights look .
This is really nice. I was wondering about splicing them but thankfully I just made a constant 50ft run. I had extra leftover but I dealt with it instead if cutting to fit.
The best video for these lights. I just purchased the pro black ones and will follow your steps.
Awesome, we appreciate your support to the channel. Hope your install goes well. Reach out if you need assistance
Have you done an install where the lights were facing out?
No we have not. Govee lights are intended to be installed on the soffit. Facing out will take away from how they are intended to look or installed
Beautiful install 😘, having ours fitted tomorrow, over here in the UK 🏴hopefully our guy will be as professional as you 🤞
Man, beautiful work!
Centering on the peak is a great recommendation
Good luck with your journey my man.👍
Great job on the video, it was very helpful along with the waterproof splices.
Thank you for your support to the channel. Glad we could help 👍
I got two of the 150’ kits and did the whole house and entire perimeter fence in the backyard. These lights are fantastic
Yes sir they are. I understand that the line can be seen and everyone mentions that but other than that, why spend 2,000 extra on something else when you can improvise with these. Awesome, glad it all worked out. 💪 👊
Hey look it this way, you can do a review on it. Every one of my videos is Creative Commons so you have my permission to use my video as an example👌
How do you do the perimeter fence? Do you have them pointing down?

Our clients are fully aware and majority just want their lights up
Thank you for taking the time to make this video!
A collared shirt on a Christmas light install is hilarious 😂
Metric and a Tesla in the driveway. Must be NorCal.
Great Video. Answered questions and concerns I had with connections to different sections..
So you used 2 100ft sets and there were 2 runs of 95ft tied to a common power receptacle in the back.
Questions:
Hello I have question?? How much do you charge for installation of the lights
I love the concept but hate the spotlight effects from source of the light. I wonder if the neon rope lights will perform better.
The 1st generation Govee lights are not great for spot lighting. But the Govee Pros for that
Great video! If you don’t mind me asking, how much do you charge per ft. On an install like this where you have several splices to do?
Please message us at the top of our TH-cam channel using the provided links
Great video! What gauge Brad and what settings do you use on your Ryobi air strike? Thank You Tom
Hi Tom, thanks for watching our content. We are using 18 guage - 1” brad nails since our Ryobi Brad Nail gun requires 18gauge only. Follow what is recommended on your tool. Thanks for your comment
I knew that looked like Texas ! Lol I hope that’s San Antonio! I would definitely hire you all for install 😂
Your in luck😂 we are located in San Antonio
you mentioned commercial glue? recommendation on what to get for the glue sticks.
Thank you!
What is the distance you use to install them from the wall?
Looks really nice.
Thanks for the fast response!
Nice , do you guys offer installation of these lights ?
Thanks for your support. Yes we do. We are located in San Antonio,Tx.
You guys did an amazing job. Do you install these for anyone and if so how can I contact you for a job?
Thanks for watching. Yes we do, going on our 67 install this year in Texas. We will be going outside of Texas middle of next year. There a social media links at the top for the page
Do you do installs? If so, where in Texas are you located? Looks amazing, awesome job.

Hey sir. How you doing?
I bought 2 set of 50ft. I was planning to connect all 6 string to one power supply can that be done? When I need to do 3 jumps One of 17ft, 11ft and 9ft
The first jump I have to cut between lights in the 2nd string I use 18g wire and make sure all the connections are good
I power up and only 1 light turn on after the jump. The wire jump is 17ft
What do you do when you do jumps like that?

I'm still trying to find out where to buy the jumpers. I have 2 dormer peaks that I wanna light up but I'm confused
You can buy them off eBay. Govee doesn’t sale them separately
Dang thank you so much. You answered all my questions and showed me everything i needed to know. Great Video!
Hi, thanks for watching. Glad we could help. Good luck on your installation
1.) I can use any unused Govee extensions for this type of splicing, correct?
2.) Are these instructions the same for Elites, too?
Elites and Govee Outdoor Permanent Lights 2 are different. 18/3 and un-used can for other versions
What was the lighting pattern at the end of the video or did you program it yourselves?
And cool video
Thats a tight i stall dude , looks great 👍🏾👍🏾
Thank you!! Thanks for watching
In addition to a question asked earlier about extending the wiring on a driver module (waiting in answer) Can I splice and extend the original extension. It is 9 feet, can it be extended an additional 15 feet with a splice? Everything is still within the 150 feet total.
Yes like I mentioned in the reply, you can extend the Govee extension using 18/3 wire
Thanks for the video I bought the normal version h805c and having trouble splitting like a Y...Do we have any connectors for the same?
The normal version is H705. By your model type, you have the Elites. There isn’t a Y-split available on the market that we know of. We try and stay away from Y-split as the strands mirror each other. So for instance, you run a Govee scene, you won’t tell. When you start creating solid colors or accent lighting, you won’t have individual control on the strands tied into each other
Great video. What would they look like if installed closer to wall then 2"? I have some side areas where there is no overhang.
Installing closer than the 2 inch minimum will probably void the warranty and be non-compliant to codes. It must be installed 2-4 inches from the wall as stated on the package.
🧐what!!!! Installing closer than 2” doesn’t void the warranty and there is no code compliance. I hope your just being funny about it🤦♂️😂
@@jbsdiytv just seeing if are paying attention. The 2” advice is really about the light cone and how the nearest wall will be illuminated. But so many people out there are quick to say, oh yeah, before thinking in it.
lol you got me!! Yeah we install 2-4” and that’s definitely the purpose of these permanent lights. Make it permanent and get that scallop look. Thanks
Can't wait to install mine.
Good luck on your install. Stay positive
Amazing! The only comment I have is... Use that exacto knife more safely! You made me nervous for a second!
Do you know of any manual or clear instructions for programming multiple sets of lights? Also, is there any info for controlling groups of lights when outside of bluetooth range.
Very detailed and helpful video thank you
Thank you for watching our content and for your support
I was wdonering, how did you get the bottom of the house to connect to top? It doesnt look like yoiu used same string for everything. Or did you?
Yes the the light show box your talking about is this one, see link below

That’s amazing. I hope it isn’t to hot where you live. Stay hydrated and be safe when you install. Plan ahead, measure twice cut once!! Check out my upcoming video for some further tips and tricks. Thanks for your support🤝🙏
Where did you get the extensions? I don't see them on their site. That's exactly what I need!
WHERE DID YOU GET THE EXTENSIONS CORD?(Extension Power Cable for govee H705A)
@murphybalsomi8526 Hi there. The extensions come with the 1st edition 100ft and 150ft kits. Also comes in the 100ft and 200ft pros
The pros are sold out everywhere. Are the original ones worth purchasing? I don't have a complex layout.
What’s the sizing of the nails you’re using on your ryobi nail gun?
Did you just use one controller for all of these lights?
He is something you can try out to see if it works for you

Did you mention that those 12’ Govee extensions have “signal boxes” ?
@edhammel9535 I see. It’s tough to splice with the 12ft extension on the 150ft kit since they have them on both ends. You could purchase the Asahom 6ft extension from my site to use their connections
@edhammel9535 lnk.bio/jbsdiytv shop permanent lighting accessories on my site and look for the Asahom 6ft extension with amplifier
That wire was 20gauge, if you need to jump that then use something thicker between 16-18gauge wire
Do you think it’s ok to use Brad nailer on vinyl plastic soffits? I like those clips you have links for so I hope I can brad it too
Use fine point small screws so it grabs the vinyl soffit
What's the best distance you recommend from wall for best results? Thanks
Hi there. We install all our lights 2-4” from wall. You will get a nice triangle effect and it looks clean. Most want to get away from those measurements and get a round look but that looks somewhat ok for the scene modes but does not look good when accent lighting is used. Hope this info helps
When you say that wire should only be used for smaller jumps. What length would you consider to be smaller?
We typically use the 18-3 or 20-3 for at least 2-3ft jumps if we have one or two jumps and 1-2ft if we have three to five jumps. If you have jumps longer than 6ft I don’t recommend using this with out some kind of data booster or splicing some lights in your custom extension because the lights themselves can be used as data boosters
I may have missed it but are you using one controller for the two 100ft kits or did you link the two somehow? If linked how and how many can be linked?
Hi there thanks for watching. I used two controllers and power adapters. They can be grouped in same model

Forgive me if this is already answered:
You mention the white/green/red wire should only be used for “smaller jumps.” “Smaller” is relative.

Are these lights the same as companies like trim light, Astoria, jelly fish, etc uses?
No they are not. This is a Govee DIY product. Trim light uses pixels, others use pucks lights that snap into a track. Most of those companies charge 5-7k for 100ft install. We are just meticulous with all our installs and we install above the manufacturer’s recommendations to last longer
What wire do you recommend when your splitting strands to make eve jumps? Do you have a link to that as well?
Oh I’m sorry about that. Must of missed it. I will place it in the description now. Thank you. The link is available
Each side after using the provide extension and our custom jumps the total feet added is 124ft under the recommended 150ft
If you buy a 150ft kit, it’s a different story. You can use what Govee provided.
Sorry for the confusion. There were 2-12ft extensions used like described at the beginning of the video for planning and layout. At each location of those 12ft extensions, we spliced 2 times there and another 2times at the other to make those jumps possible.
Hope this clears up your question
How long did you make the jig to keep the lights off the wall?
It’s a 2”x2” crafting square. The link is in the description
Would you come do an install in Colorado? Thx
Hi there and thanks for watching our channels content. Yes we would consider it. Please message us on IG @jbsholidandchristmaslighting or on FB @ JB’s Holiday and Christmas Lighting LLC
@@jbsdiytv thx I messaged you on IG :).
@@jbsdiytv Thanks for the quick reply!
This might be a dumb question; however do the strands have run the the same direction from the power source or can they “y” off from an outlet? Thank in advance for help
How many outlets did you end up using?
2-outlets. One back left and one back right
So i have a question, so the 150 ft kit comes with one power box correct? If we are going from an eve to a peak, and you make a cut, how do you regain power? Stupid question, just have no clue what im doing
Wondering this too
When we do installs, we try and have a factory connection end start before the jumps so we can use a Govee extension to make the jump without splicing. Then work from those strands out
How much will you charge so I can tell my neighbors when I buy Govee lights pro.
Ronald, please contact me here to get a qoute started for you.

So how long was each run and how many power sources did you need?
This install was 2-100ft Non Pro kits. We powered at two back locations. Since then, we have done thing a little different on routing since we know their capabilities
@@jbsdiytv awesome! Thank you very very much for the reply! It looks awesome too!
Thank you for your support. Once you have a second kit, you can group them in the app to run as one kit. Install all your strands working in one direction. Left to right or right to left so it looks in sync
@@jbsdiytv oh wow, that’s awesome, thank you for the tip!
Would this method of splicing pass an inspection when selling the house?
This type of lighting is DIY. I don’t believe it will pass inspection but that’s my opinion. This is all mentioned to the client in writing before we install. This is a 3rd party product
Where. Can i get those clips for hold the wire any links or any recommendations thanks
Take a look at my Govee/ AliExpress video
where you get the extra wire to be able to do long connections between roofs ?
amzn.to/3XgX8kY they also sale 100ft rolls as well. If it’s the pros, splice between a Govee extension to keep data frequency disturbance to a minimum. Same goes with the non pros, elites and gen 2’s
@@jbsdiytvthank you
Hi! I’m in Cibolo, Tx in a very similar one story home as in this video. I would also appreciate if you could give me a quote for install. Thanks!
Good luck
@@jbsdiytv you the man. I appreciate it. Have a good evening.
Not a problem. Good luck
Can these be face mounted..on part of my home I don't have a soffit..but wat lights there...what do you think
@michaelhaase778 you can face mount them but it will be super bright to passer byers and cars. You won’t get any lighting effects on the wall
@4:04 Nice Catch!
Thank you for watching. Thanks, it was the sound of the swoosh that helped me find where it would land 😆😂
What is the distance between each led light? Is there a maximum distance you can go with the extension, I'll be using he 20awg wires for that purpose.
