Look at me the seasoned old lady quilter learning new tricks from the next generation of amazing artists. Thank you for your fresh perspective to this art, I appreciate your whole vibe.
I came here because I was looking for offbeat quilters on TH-cam and I’ve been through almost your entire video list. Your energy is so so good, watching you execute this with such painstaking precision but also the chaos of improvisation, plus the jokes, plus the INCREDIBLE music you’ve selected for your videos. Chef’s. Kiss. You’re a delight. This quilt is a delight.
@@ccc-pj9xg I’ve been enjoying Rose City Originals random quilt block series (there are two “seasons” now!). Just Get It Done Quilts isn’t as “offbeat” but she’s got good energy and great tips that feel accessible. That’s about as far as I’ve gotten though!
Aww! I’m so happy for everyone! I needed closure on how the quilt was received! Dave, I have a super creative kid who loves your aesthetic and I have a more conservative, but not traditional! aesthetic and your channel is the perfect thing to cue up when I’m sick of watching gaming videos, and kiddo thinks the quilting stuff is BORING. Great energy, nice music, nice flow, very original content. Love it!
@davescraftroom I am binging all your videos, repeatedly, because each one I watch I think I've seen it all, then I watch another and I'm flabbergasted! This quilt is amazing and I saw their post that they love it. Great job Dave, keep 'em coming!
DANG!!! Impressive!!! I've been quilting for over 60 years and I've never seen anything like this. FABULOUS circles !!! )))))) Now I have to try this. Never did circles. Never did arcs. Never did curves!!! EGAD. Mind blown. ))))Thanks for showing us. WHEE!!
Wow! You did it again. Impressed the heck out of me. I’m a 70 year old quilter who has been quilting most my life, and you are continually teaching me something new. Love love love your creative mind and sparkling personality.
You are a true artist. I like how you don't conform to all the rules yet you understand that one doesn't have to reinvent the wheel or more accurately, the circle. I can't quilt without gloves but I found the perfect ones for me at the hardware store.
I've seen that circle insert technique demonstrated several times. I couldn't really understand the process until I saw you do it several times. Bless you, Dave, bless you. Love your content. Take care, Kitti
I would be on the news trying to make that. After about 30min. I would need a cocktail and would have it slung out in the yard. Thats what you call dedication to the cause.
Dave, get a Janome! Thread cutter, knee lift, fancy stitches and letters! The 4100 series is really nice with lots of bang for your buck. I have the 6700Professional (very fast) and love it.
You have no fear in tackling any quilt design. I have been quilting for over 30 years and wouldn’t think to try some of these. Great job! Beautiful quilts.
You are such a clever fellow! I have a Janome 6600 Memorycraft. It has a thread cutter, knee lift, automatic threader, and a kazillion decorative stitches. It cost around $1,600.
I also have a Janome. It has worked very well for me for over ten years. I bought it in 2009 for about $1200 dollars. Never had any problems with it. I highly recommend Janome also.
You’re right, the pieced circles were mind blowing and I love knowing that can be done. I waited all day for a chance to watch this and it was so worth it. The quilt is stunning.
I'm sitting here quilting a hunter star baby quilt, I pieced. What I am thinking is pretty boring after watching this video. Thanks for the inspiration. Love your quilt.
The lengths you will go to! I’ve been far too unambitious, fallen into the sloughs of ‘quick and easy’, but now you have shown me the light and it is a moon. I have a stack of unicorns that I had dismissed as too fiddly until I saw your soot sprites (aka “very black black things” makurokurosuke). So that quilt is going to happen before Christmas. Then I just saw your unicorn quilt 😂😂
A brother scan and cut would be great for you. You could fuse the t-shirts than scan and they would cut the designs out . plus with your great creativity you could scan your own drawing and cut them. I love all your work because it comes from you not what everyone else is doing or fabrics everyone is using. One of a kind is my favorite. Thanks for the inspiration now I've got a million strip and circles to get going!
Your quilt is amazing. Just beautiful. You are a true artist. Pfaff brand sewing machines has several machines under a $1000, that have the requirements you request. I only have Pfaff machines and think they are the best.
You are a no fear guy. I started this quilt some 20 years ago and never finished. You are inspiring me to pull it out of the storage box and give it a try again.
Love your presentations! I like how you get straight to business and show us the whole process....you don't overtalk...thank you. This quilt is a knockout! I have that strip-piecing book also and you have inspired me to get into it and do something soon. Love your music too!
I loved your video!❤️❤️👍👍 (FYI, I just bought a Bernina B710 QE for under $2000 that does all you wish, plus BSR. The higher 700 model #’s are $4000 & up but I didn’t need anything that fancy because I don’t do embroidery. The B710 is a wonderful machine & it is all I need forever function/feature wise for my sewing & art quilting. I’m enjoying it so much that my old machines seem like dinosaurs to me now!🤣🤣)
Looks fabulous darl! good job - At first I thought - ooh it's a bit 'boy bedroom' for being used as a wedding gift but.... then I realized your immense talent being gifted as an experienced quilter and can appreciate getting "to like it" - Heart ur wrk x
My janome MC6700 has knee bar, large throat, thread cutter, high powered straight stitch as well as some fancy stitches. It’s a workhorse and I truly love it.
This quilt is awesome! I love watching your process and getting your little tips and tutorials. I made a wedding quilt fir my daughter thys summer. Very different frim yours, bu i love yours very much! The airplanes add the pizzaz. 😀💖🌟
Just found your amazing videos. My mom and I quilt and we are truly amazed by your talent! While I typing this I'm seeing your The Killers quilt! I can't even speak! They are one of my favorite bands too and that quilt is fantastic! You are giving me some real inspiration and I need it because I loose intrest in my quilting really quickly! Keep up the amazing work!
EverSewn has several models with knee lift, decorative stitches and thread cutter. I have one and have found it to be very reliable. I know at one point Alex Anderson talking about the quality of EverSewn and we know she is a diehard Bernina fan
My mind was blown as well. I really love this process you used of piecing the strips and making the circles and mixing them all together. My favorite blocks are those that use round piecing to make squares and square pieces to make circles. I do have lots of Star Wars fans in the family and I think this process of strip piecing and using the circles in combination is something that just moved to the top of my list. Plus, I do have some astronomy fabrics and some Star Wars fabric that I think will work great together. 🧵🧵👏👏🪡🪡
Your creative process is fantastic. Besides your exquisite taste and feeling of colour, your fantasy and amount of labour is amazing. You cause my admiration. I feel myself very lazy. I have lots of ideas but lack of strengths to realize them. And you easily realize very complicated projects. Bravo!
This is amazing, and so inspiring! I love watching your videos, Dave. My Juki QVP 2000 has a thread cutter, a knee bar, and many decorative stitches, including text. It’s quiet and I love the feature where the needle stays down but the foot lifts up just a little bit so I can turn things around under the needle when I’m piecing. Great for curved piecing.
Marvelous. This is mind bogling to me. Such an intricate quilt. It carries a lot of stories in it. Along with your high skill of quilting. Well done, young man. From Malaysia with a handshake.
I'm not one to gush, but I love this quilt. I would put it on a wall and meditate on its beauty often. Truly an original masterpiece. I use up bobbins by putting them up top, too. 😉
