Wow!! I have never seen a quilt done like this before, it gives me some ideas. My husband loves anything to do with space. What if I make a quilt in Hexi stars and applique a rocket ship onto it. I think it would be something he might like. it is funny how one gets all kinds of ideas from other inspirations, thank you for being a part of the quiltmas .
My favorite thing about you is how fearless you are. You don't need to be spoonfed every tiny infant baby step, you just take what you know and try things. You are truly an original, not a copycat. Keep experimenting! We love it!
My great aunt leona taught me y-seams before she taught me regular straight seams. (She taught me how to improv quilt first) and she would always start my lessons with this statement "okay, i am teaching you to do -insert skill- and you are going to suck at it for a while because before you can really learn any skill you first have to make all the mistakes. Once you can fix the mistakes, you will know this skill and wonder why you were worried" and when i would complain about not being amazing she would just laugh and say "oh who cares. You are going to spend all your time around this quilt sleeping and snoring...it needs a strong character to survive the boredom...give it some happy accidents my dove!" 😂❤🎉 i still find myself fretting occasionally but watching your glorious quilts come together remind me of her assurances. Thank you for sharing your wonderful creativity ❤
Thank you for all the laughs! Enjoyed watching you create that quilt, and appreciate that you made Y seams look doable. Your fearless "I'll figure it out" is inspiring, and great result!
When I found out you were included this year I was so excited to see what you were doing, you did not disappoint me. This quilt is absolutely stunning and I will cross my fingers I win it.
Love your quilt Dave! I did have to laugh though. The two hexi quilting shapes you did across the deer chest make him look like he has been bulking up. I was like Hey Deer! Nice Pecks! I love it and am going to try my best to win it. 😂
Dave! Stop! Your video about your hexie quilt is inspirational. It's an excellent quilt journey and a very interesting travel vlog. The quilt may be bonkers but that happens with objects infused with so much learning and memories. I LOVE IT
You were my favorite to watch! You are funny, and give people the confidence to just create something. It doesn’t have to be so stressful. Just have fun and remember why you love this hobby. I can’t wait to watch all your past videos and am looking forward to following you starting today.
I have been waiting for your Quiltmas video and expecting something wonderful. This quilt was well worth the wait. It is my favorite by far. Love your outside the box creativity.
I was worried there when I did not see one drop!!! Oh my love this quilt, love the deer and love super large hexies. I did Hexies larger than that and covered them all with salvage edges.
I love & seams. One of my first quilts was a strip project that I cut up into diamonds, then made Hexes and finally the quilt. It was a lot of work but the process was beyond satisfying.
Hey, Dave! I was so excited that you were i the list of creators for this year’s Quiltmas! It’s absolutely no surprise that your quilt is stunning! Your creativity always shines through. I think that this is one of my favourites. I live in a small village in cottage country, and my property backs onto a golf course. Because of this, deer are regular visitors to my yard. It’s not uncommon to see several at a time. This quilt is the perfect representation of a deer visiting my home on a snowy night-just like the one we have tonight. It would be such an honour and a privilege to have this quilt my home. Imagine, me, an owner of a Dave’s original! Wow! Hmmm.. I wonder if this deer is related to the two in your cityscape quilt-sorry, I don’t recall its name. Perhaps this one is their country cousin! 🤣 Thank you, and stay well! Muskoka ON 🇨🇦
You are so brave and fearless as all are saying. You quilt is so much above most of the others in this series. I hope I can win yours! It's beautiful!!
Cool quilt... literally and figuratively! Creative idea to use two different sizes of hexies and then add the deer for an additional touch of nature. Happy holidays!
Dave I absolutely love your quilt The stag the hexagons the tie quilting. Everything amazing. Thankyou. I’m in Australia. I hope to enjoy a white Christmas just once 🎄✨💗
Dave! I missed you on Tuesday so I was so happy to see you pop up on Wednesday! Merry Quiltmas indeed! Your hexie quilt is stunning and I love the addition of the deer (cause why not!?) So neat to see you involved in this project and I had fun tracking down the other quilters and watching their videos, what a cool variety of projects. I now have a bunch of new quilting youtubers to follow, prior to yesterday the only other one I had see was Kris from Sew The Distance.
You produced an exceptional quilt - the best one of the series - quilt police !! who are they?? You are inspirational in your work, no fear, just go for it - we all need to be a bit more Dave 😂😂😂😂
I have been quilting for a long time and enjoy it so much, it’s so nice to see a young man like you quilting away. When I started quilting over 40 years ago as a male I was accepted as a quilter but you could always feel that some of the women didn’t think men were legitimate quilters. I love the way you approach your quilting and I’m due in a similar way but you are very or I should send you a picture of my studio you would go mad. Anyway don’t stop. I love the way you are so or I work out of chaos keep going and believe me I’ll cheer you on all the way.
I stress over every detail. I admire how you just go with the flow! I could take a page from your book. I love this quilt! Thanks so much for sharing. 😊
What a cool quilt! Really enjoyed watching how you figured it all out and made a quilt just like you wanted. That's great! Thanks for sharing your creativity with all of us. Take care, blessings to you. Merry Christmas.
Dave, you are remarkable! What a project! Your creativity is fun to watch! Right now, Brenda from Conquering Mt. Scrapmore, on her TH-cam channel, Y-seam Wednesday. She's very good. It's a challenge that I have to try. Great looking quilt, Dave! Marion in Oregon
I’ve been excited for your project since day 1 when Kristen announced you were participating this year! As always, a great, creative quilt. Thanks Dave!
You are an inspiration to me!
A-Freaking-Mazing!!!

OMG!!! Not ONLY y-seams, but DIFFERENT SIZED hexagons!!! You are FEARLESS (and EXTREMELY talented). Thank you, Dave.
My great aunt leona taught me y-seams before she taught me regular straight seams. Thanks Dave for removing the “perceived” fear of Hexagon Quilts. This seems so achievable. It turned out beautiful ❤
I've been really looking forward to your quilt for this event. Your creativity never disappoints.
You are gifted!! I love the quilt!!! Whoever receives it will be really lucky!!
Oh, look! It's the back of Dave's head!
