    Hi Dave, That was just hilarious! And near the end, so were my own thoughts. I have to admit that for good and unavoidable reasons, too convoluted to go into here, I have never made a quilt in my life. (Atypical, of most of my female relatives.) I do however, love homemade quilts. I have always ranked them high on the list of my most cherished possessions. About 1.5 - 2 years ago I started watching quilting tutorials on TH-cam, with the intention of becoming a quilt maker. I have yet to act on this intention, beyond my online unregulated tutelage. Perhaps, now that you have been apprised of my progress thus far, you will understand why I laughed at myself for randomly thinking, "If I keep watching Dave's quilt making videos I am going to end up having unlearned everything I thought I knew about quilt making." I have loved your piano soundtracks. In this video, when you were nearing the end of your machine quilting your soundtrack seemed to slow down to keep pace with your mental deliberations in the home stretch. Instantly, a memory of me making friends with this classmate so I could go to her house for lunch over the noon hour, for the purpose of having fun trying out her family's player piano. That was way back in grade five. I had totally forgot about that until just now, while holding my breath hoping you had enough left in you to finish your quilting race and your song. BRAVO!! You brought it all home like the Champ that you are, and even ended on a high note...my unsolicited burst of laughter upon seeing that you had wrapped yourself up in your "Franken quilt." I get why you called it that and it fits in one way, but your quilt turned out even better than that. In your last pose is where you'll find a better, more regally suited name, I'm thinking. 10/10 Oops, you did it again. Cheers! 🎉✨🏆

    I LOVE HIM!! Tiffany turned out amazing when you jumped in there and had ZERO plan. Dave I’m tellin you AHHHMAZE me!! I just wish I could run out for a Popeyes break while quilting. I soooo love their chicken tenders. We hit there every time we go to Cincinnati or Columbus OH. Being in northeastern KY we don’t have one any closer. Trust me I wish we did!! Keep quilting!! I can’t wait to see what you come up with next!! Much love!!💙🪡🧵

    The thinking cap is the right shade of red! Oh I so relate to tossing the fabric on the floor out of frustration. Yesss!

  • @janinec1396
    @janinec1396 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    That turned out so much better than I expected. The over all layout almost mimics the dissapearing four block layout, and the one block at the top of the red column has eyes, so it's a sort of owl totem pole. So i would have scattered all the block over the quilt, no two similar next to each other, and used the yardage to make coloured borders.... and it would not be as interesting.

    How have I not found you before! The thinking cap (I’m going to find one of my own!), your sound effects, watching your thought processes, so dang cool! I’m so happy to be at the beginning of this quilting journey with you! You take me back to my college art class days, many decades ago, the energy and all-nighters and craziness that comes together into magic. I cannot claim to have half of your talent and creativity, just fascinating to watch you!

    Absolutely Fabulous! Love the colors and the way you can randomly put things together, it makes it's own sense. I would like to share a tip I used at work when my fingers became sore as I sewed velcro on sign panels. Duck tape.... I would cut small strips of duct tape and wrap the ends of my fingers to protect them. It lasts a long time, you can change or replace it as needed. You can even add a bit of a pad underneath to help protect further. The grippy silicone thimble do help for gripping but the tape wont come off as easily.

    The sound effects you make as you illustrate what you are doing are the best.. I have a small quilting frame made out of PVC pipe that is about the size of your coffee table. It comes apart to store and is easy to set up. The quilt is held on the frame by PVC pieces with a slot that clamp over and I found it on Amazon for not much money. I love it for the times I hand quilt. You are very creative and have me thinking in ways I haven't before. Thank you

    I LOVE! Tiffany the Frankenquilt. What a great idea for those UFOs. I also do not like to wear thimbles... I try, but it just don't work for me. Sometimes, if I have a finger that is really sore, I'll use a good fabric band-aid, it does help... Especially when it's a whole day of hand sewing... (& they call us obsessed... phffft... LOL 😂Loving your content - so refreshing and 'outside' the pattern book (box).

    If you're going to do more handquilting, you'll save yourself alot of pain if you use a thimble. You have to look around for the right type of thimble for you. Try wearing the thimble for a whole day, it will start to feel more natural. Happy quilting!

    Loved this video. It made me laugh out loud. You get yourself into some situations that it looks like you will never get yourself out of but you always rise to the occasion. One of your videos said that you didn’t have a Bernina! You definitely deserve a Bernina. Can you figure out some way your viewers can contribute to your Bernina? And put the link in The description box? You have thousands of followers. If half of them contributed $20 I think you would have your Bernina.
