Loved the Japanese wooden doll and the Mexican wreath. The wooden brush was used by a Barbour. I have fond memories going with my dad to get a hair cut when Iwasalittlegirl. The Barbour used the brush to apply powder to the back of my dad's neck after shaving it, and to brush away hair cuttings. It brought back some very special memories from my childhood. Great video!

The wooden-handled brush with the longer bristles, might actually be a barber's brush. I inherited a similar one that was from the 1940-50s that my grandmother used in her beauty shop many years ago to brush off hair trimmings after finishing a hair cut.

Not a shaving brush. My grandfather was a barber and I inherited a majority of his utensils. This brush was used to brush a customer’s neck and shoulders after a haircut. Yours could be from the late 30s. He worked at Ford Motor Company and had a barber shop in his basement. He fathered nine children, feeding seven boys was always a challenge. 🙂

A-frames are so cool! I don't think that's a shaving brush, but is used by barbers to brush hair off of the neck after a haircut and to apply talcum powder to the back of the neck after shaving it close with a straight razor. My dad was a barber in the early 60's and he always had one in his kit whenever he would cut my hair as a kid in the 80's.

Hi Laura, I thought I might be able to help a little bit about a Kokeshi doll.
The bottom left says 無心(mushin)in Japanese , looks like that is the title of the doll.
I could find the same artist same title kokeshi on Japanese websites. ( for selling) I could not find the explanation of why the title is 無心, but it means mental state free from emotion. ( you can Google in English and you’ll find the meaning)
The artist name is 渡辺正雄 ( Masao Watansbe) the artist has received prizes from Japan Prime minister for great artist. He was born in 1917- . Kokeshi doll I see in the Japanese website has the painted face and clothes, maybe what you have once had painting and faded.
I also found that this artist’s kokeshi is different from Traditional, but called sosaku kokeshi which means creative kokeshi.

Laura, I just got home from thrifting. I found some really exciting pieces of pottery. But my most exciting piece is a butter spreader, for lack of knowing what it is really called, like one you found. The one that you put the butter in the cup, cold water in the bottom...I hope you know what I'm talking about. I have only been watching you for a few months, but I've binge watched every episode. When I saw that piece, I was sure I would never find one. I went to a small-town thrift store that donates to a center for abused women, and there it was. I must have channeled my inner Laura. Thank you.

Butter Bell is the brand of butter keeper I have. Mine is from the 1990s. They’re still available today.

Love your videos and visiting the Oregon coast is on my bucket list. I love when you find the penguin pieces in your travels. I inherited one from my mom and wouldn't give it up for anything. I love it and use it as a ice bucket.

If you are going do the dot, dot, dot on your sister's lamps, get yourself a henna bottle, you can adjust the thickness of the paint to flow perfectly and you will have better control.
The bamboo bottle is actually a 60's man's aftershave bottle, the scent is called Bay Rum.

I moved from Newport OR last year, and I miss it soooooo bad!! Especially the thrifting! The PNW has the best goodwill and antique stores. I'll be visiting in Sept and cannot wait!!

I have a myrtle wood perfume bottle that was my mothers. I cherish it. I recently found a second one at the bins of all places. I always watch your videos looking for Salty and Peppys. :) The collection has grown since you saw it, however many years ago that was.

I think the critter is a seal. I've never seen that kind of rug. I love it! I loved everything that you bought....except the shell bowl. I think it's kind of creepy.

Ok, now I have to come back in to say, that was amazing! I haven’t spent as much time north of Lincoln City. I think I’m gonna try hitting you up for your brother’s B&B information for the next time I head for the coast. Even though I’m happy with where I stay in Yachats, my daughter wants to branch out and explore other areas. Does your brother allow well behaved dogs?
Also a neat thing, the myrtle wood perfume! I have had one of those (without the vile topper) for 20 years and never knew I was missing a piece of it. I love all the things you found!
    Thank you SOOO much!
