  • AMAZING ANTIQUES & WOW FACTOR VINTAGE! | ANTIQUE SHOW SHOP ALONG
    What a great new antique show this is! Portland's Rose City Vintage Market brings antique shows back to Oregon, with an incredible selection of really fun vintage specialties and some true antiques with style and flair. I've already sold more here (in one day) than I've sold in any Northwest venue in 18 months...time to take the proceeds, look around and shop the show!
    There are reseller finds to be had here, with a $10 table of beautiful porcelain and some stunning buys on vintage costume jewelry ($10, $20 and $40 cases) that grab my attention. But beyond the bargains are a world of sparkling silver and glass, festive vintage holiday items, a space full of motion clocks and other really fun specialties of yesteryear that are ready to take residence in a modern collector's home!
    Yes, that is a real ball chair among the Danish modern designer furniture! Yes, those 1910s slag glass lamps are beautiful and ready to serve again. Yes, there really is a place you can still find real Hawaiian shirts, true vintage fashion, fun art and vibrant vintage prints. This is the place!
    Rose City Vintage Market takes up where a 45-year tradition of major antique shows in Portland left off during the shutdown. Antiques and vintage are back, and it's so fun to be participating...and taking you along to see! Have fun with me at this wonderful new vintage venue, which plans its next appearance in Portland next July for a huge Summer show.
    Here’s some of the really great vintage we find here:
    Kit Kat clocks, Holt Howard Santas, vintage Halloween, Icart print, ball chair, pre-prohibition beer tray, tip trays, motion lamps, Blitz Weinhard tap and tavern light, Juliana and other costume jewelry, Fenton epergne, Golden Hour mystery clock, tire ad clock, Hawaiian shirts, flashlight collection, Japanese bamboo stand w/mirror, Bobwhite taxidermy, butcher painting, slag glass lamps, Rudi Gernreich dress, 1930s dresses, Royal Bayreuth tapestry pitcher, Lalique elephant, Wallace Hepplewhite sterling set, sang de boeuf glaze ceramics, Dino Martens Murano bowl, Louis Wain cat print, dog die cut ad print, vintage fashion, Danish modular desk, B&G Paasken plate, Eero Aarnio ball chair, Pillin pottery, silhouettes, Roseville Morning Glory, repousse sterling beverage set, vintage sporting goods, trunk vase, Alexandrite glass, Phoenix thistle vase, Skookum dolls, Hamms Beer bear, slot machine, rotary phones, Canadian Frontiersman sign, comic and adult playing cards, speed knobs, Seattle Pilots pin, Schafer und Vater novelty flasks and figures, early Disney figures, Golden Potlatch flask, tapa cloth, novelty clocks, etc.

    I’m so happy to have found your channel. You have a way of delivering information in a wonderful manner. I was especially happy to see the Jefferson golden hour clock. I found one in great condition at an estate sale. I had to have it because I remember my parents having one when I was little. I paid $30 for it! They also had a mastercrafters clock with a blond girl in a blue dress sitting on a swing. Wish they held on to it!

    I love seeing all the pretty things! Being an Oregon native, I have always had a soft spot for Portland, ( although it scares me anymore to drive there).
    Here’s a fun fact that will date me. My grandmother took me on a train called “the Portland Rose” to visit there when I was little. We went to the opening of Lloyds Center with my cousins. They claimed to be the largest shopping center in the country at that time in 1960.

      I always love George's videos and I agree about Portland. We were there years ago to see the King Tut exhibit, and my son who lives in Battle Ground sent me a video of the homeless problem that's there, sooo sad for that wonderful town. Here's a fun fact, I have a cousin named LaRae.

    We hope to be there. What is your background? You are very knowledgeable in many areas? Where is your home base? How are you managing traveling during these difficult times?

    lots to,see and do,love it here,yes the rent is sky market. Years ago, we collected all the old Christmas, my mother set up one bedroom and it was all old ornaments, likes. still like but hard to find. Back in the1950 my mother found in magazine Roy Roger/Dale queen size bed in. Wood pressed heart on headboard with both inside the heart and foot of bed looked like a fence and Trigger. No one has ever seen one. It was advertised in a magazine. I have everything in Roy Rogers and Hoppy

      The Northwest is so wonderful, I understand why everyone wants to come but it's sure put pressure on folks. I bet the Christmas room was fun! That headboard had to be really scarce, I'm sure most parents wouldn't have sprung for that, how cool!

    Hi George! That stretch glass epergne was fantabulous! We already have five or six epergnes here, but that one would've really tempted me! The Victorian bamboo piece, with the mirror, was at a really good price. It was a super-nice piece, too. The bobwhite taxidermy was really well-done. Was that a kaleidoscope, with the twisted black case with brass end there? I have always had a thing for kaleidoscopes. Actually, if that was a kaleidoscope, it likely would've captured my attention more than anything else. Silver is beautiful...as long as someone else has it. I'm not going to keep the stuff polished. Loved the "Thistle" pattern Phoenix Glass vase. I used to have one of the scales like the on next to the "Little Duke" slot machine. I sold it when I moved here. I used to have A LOT of the United motion clocks, but just couldn't find space for all of them, so they ended up sold. That looked to be a great show! Thanks for showing us around it!!!

      I really should've bought the bamboo piece! I prefer coins to tableware, but I do use the flatware daily and if you do that it won't tarnish...I'd never use holloware though. The Phoenix vase made me happy to see again! That was a good scale, the deco shine of the slot machine made me forget to mention it...it's sad we can't keep it all, I'd have so many amazing things but it's been fun letting them find their right home!

      @@TheAntiqueNomad I really liked the bamboo piece, but the one thing, in the whole video, that really caught my attention was the item that looked like a kaleidoscope. I don't know if it was a kaleidoscope, but, if it was, I'd have been all over it. Those old scales, with the weights, weigh at least four ounces😉 I really enjoyed having the one I had, but there is simply no room for one of them here. I sold it to a person that had been wanting one for a long time, so I was happy for them to get it.

    George, how do you feel about seeing something you sold; being sold by the person you sold it to? I sold 2 crystal lamps at what I thought was a good price and saw it selling for double. I instantly think I underpriced and kick myself in the butt.

    • @TheAntiqueNomad
      @TheAntiqueNomad  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't really mind it, as long as i knew what I needed for it I don't mind letting someone else have some profit too. Sometimes you realize you gave too big a deal, but as Jocelyn of Crazy Lamp Lady says, that's just the price of the lesson.

    george, i just found a cast iron bank with a African American kid eating a piece of watermelon, been trying hard to find info on him, he's got 1911 marked underneath his neck, he is very old just wondering if you have ever came across one. I know some people would be offended but he is very cute, if you have any info. i would be glad to hear it.

    • @TheAntiqueNomad
      @TheAntiqueNomad  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am familiar with that bank, the mark you see could be a mold number rather than a date, I'd have to see it. Have you had it looked at in the past? There are reproductions, and yes, they're offensive to some people, but I know a lot of black collectors who feel they're worth preserving if they're original.
