dear Laura, the dragon brass vase at 15:28 is actually an ancient Chinese censer or an incense burner. And when you flipped it over, the Chinese characters in the bottom read that it was made in the Ming Dynasty during the reign of its fifth emperor Xuande, who ruled China in the 1400's. I am not sure the authenticity of the vase (you almost only see them in museums), but if it's a true antique, it is extremely rare and highly valuable :)
I read some Chinese but not great. I'm glad you clarified it. Wouldn't it be great if it is legit!!
I wonder if Laura has seen this comment!
Laura, did you ever find out more about this?
Oh Laura and Jesse, my husband and I love to travel and we are coming to Seaside Oregon and we are staying at the Starry Night Inn just because of your show. I love your videos so much. I used to be a Goodwill shopper. I am old now much older now and walking on the beach is more me now. Thank you for all your videos and I binge watch on nights I can’t sleep. I love you all your appreciation of old and vintage things. ❤️
The juice cups are small because fruit was not available year round. They didn't have a frozen foods aisle. That is an actual serving size of juice.
I'm pretty sure your favorite studio bowl from this trip is a kiln misfire...it wasn't fired hot enough to 'melt' the glaze (layman's terms). Sometimes, like now, there are happy mistakes! I've done ceramics for over 40 years and while I could be wrong, that's my take!
The antique German frame you want to give your mom looks to be a gift from officers to their outgoing commander in the German army, so probably would have had their photos in it.
The Gendarmerie-Brigade was more police than army. The 6th Brigade was in Breslau, which today is Wroclaw in Poland.
The crystal swirled bowl is Mikasa !
I liked all the things but especially the Chili bowl! I love that you realize not everyone needs 2 or 4 of everything. As a widow and eclectic person, I love mismatched!
Same here 😊Life is too short for ordinary living 😉
Oh my gosh, Laura, you find the best things! Those pottery bowls are wonderful! 😊
The rattan doll seat set is exactly like the set my dad bought me in the late 1960's.
I had the same set in the 80s.
We also had that set in the 1960s. I have no idea if my sister still has it or if it was given away.
Drinking out of a small glass or cup certainly makes what's inside taste so much better. And it's fun too.
And keeps the drink colder
My favorite Left Coast Girl is at it again!!🧡🧡🫶🏼🫶🏼
I grew up using tiny "juice glasses" every day in the 1970's and 80's... thats what they were called and we only drank juice out of them because 1 serving of juice used to be a lot smaller than 1 serving of milk, etc..
The gift for your mom is perfect. I love the idea of turning it around having the name on the front and still having the German reading on the back. You are so thoughtful and all your gifts. I love your videos.
I live in Seaside. I’m surprised you found that much at our Goodwill, for decent prices too. Thank you for showing the world our little neck of the woods. 😊
Hi Laura, just wanted to mention your filming skill while shopping is excellent. You make the journey for us so very enjoyable. Early Happy Thanksgiving to you and Jesse! Debra
Thank you so much Debra! ❤️❤️❤️ Happy early Thanksgiving to you too!!
Ditto from me, Chez is Shay. You went to France remember or do they specifically call it Cheeze
Hello!! I would love an entire episode with you styling all of your stuff in your studio in all different ways. I am not good at putting things together, but I can see examples and then use similar items to decorate with. You have an amazing collection in that studio!!!
I love how she styles without making it look too over crowded. She has a such a beautiful way of making the pieces stand out and not get lost in clutter.
Great idea!!!
My favorite is the quail ring. It's so unique and would make such a beautiful signature piece. I also am a sucker for studio pottery. I love to pick up the quirky ones that look like a kid's art class piece.
The blouse was my favorite. Thanks for sharing your picking adventures.
I'm a mid-century collector too, but I'm so captivated by your unique blend of earthy, natural, organic finds with strong lines and midcentury shapes and textures. I was never much for pottery, and you've definitely made me reconsider! Loved that b&b you stayed at too. How charming!
Great video. I would love to shop the Oregon coast sometime in my life.
Tell me Laura, when are you going to come out with a decorating book? You could certainly do it.
Your styling is amazing!
I sure hope to do that someday! It’s on my 5 year life plan 🤣👍
Love the decorating book idea!!
Laura as far as i can remember, the shallow bowls are turtle bowls. The taller bowls on stands are for fish. Turtles use to be sold cheap in the 70's ( i was born by then😂 ). Now illegal in most states due to disease i cant say or spell 😂. Salmonella im close Where is my Funk n Wagnel??????😂😂😂😂😂
These stands and bowls go back to the 40's i own one. Some are huge and very extrav.looking. I can only imagine the family homes they occupied. That one is simular to mine and considered the lower cost. Some are going today up in the thousands if you find the right buyer. I love to look them up, as i do all interessting pieces.
Dear Laura just wanted to say I love watching you and Jesse shop! You two really mix together in the right way! I am learning so much and you make it fun! You keep it about the thrifting and staging and I love it! Thank You and God Bless!
I have a lot of wooden eggs that I bought on a shopping trip to East Berlin in the early 80s before the wall came down. Riding the duty train was amazing.
Haven't been in Seaside in about 45 yrs. Wow, how it has changed... and grown! Thanks for the virtual walk down memory lane.🎉😊
The stores you go to look so neat and organized. The Goodwills in Ky are very cluttered and a mess.
Oh thank you for taking us to seaside oregon! I used to live there ❤ thank you for taking us to the turnaround and the beautiful views of Tillamook head bring such great memories! This is my first time on your channel! I'm so glad to have found it🎉
I’m so glad you found me! ❤️
Yes Laura, I love drinking my juice out of my great grandmothers old snuff glass.. The snuff she dipped way back in the old days came in tiny glasses with a tin lid. I have saved and used this one for over fifty years.
Are you sure those little brass bowls are not ashtrays? They have the cigarette indent around the rim and look like ashtrays.
The Starry Night looks fantastic!🌠🌟
It really is wonderful and so affordable!!
Hi Laura, I think I may have found the maker of the pottery bowl....I think it might be DLAN keramika@@leftcoastrevivals
there is hardly any info on them though...it could be hindi writing on there as well....of course this is just a guess@@leftcoastrevivals
I love watching your style grow and expand. It’s lovely.
LOVE the alternative-use idea for the cranberry scoop! It might be good for oil and vinegar bottles too!
Yes!
I prefer little cups too! Those little ones are literally called juice glasses. Very standard back when portions were a fraction of what they are today.
I have a set of coffee mugs from the 1960’s that hold 6oz each. I have the wine glasses too. I love the portion control and my coffee doesn’t get too cold!
@@Vintagewitchstyle i started doing the same for my coffee too!
Large potions of juice are not good .
Loved this video. My favorite was the cranberry scoop and how great it looked with the soap containers. 😊
I love the children's wicker patio set, so cute. I would love to find a set of my own and put little potted plants on them for display. Great finds Laura.
Hi Laura, yes i am part of the tiny cup community 😄im always hunting vintage ones in the thrifts
I am so happy to know I’m not the only one 😂
me too...small cups are cool...
So fun to thrift with you again, Laura. What a wonderful stay for you and Jessie at the Inn. The inlaid box would be my favorite of your finds, I believe. So glad you finally got the oil and vinegar set you wanted with the pretty blue stripe. Your staging is great! Thanks for sharing, Cat
I’m also crazy about pottery bowls and I love all the ones you chose. They can be used for
Anything.
Me too -- handmade pottery is my jam. In college, I bought a covered casserole dish where the dish flips over to use as a trivet. I'm 60 now and it's still one of my absolute favorite dishes. I have handmade pieces in every room - some even made by my daughter in high school - a horse mug that I keep my pens in is one of my favorites.
You do have to be careful with older ones that may have lead in the glaze. Also non-made in USA.
Flip the painted egg over and you'll see how the flowers bloom.
My favorite item was the Wooden Triangle Box💙😊👍👍
Hi Laura, I'm very glad you got a new Olive oil bottle, the reason it doesn't come in clear glass is because UV rays will cause it to turn rancid. That's why you are supposed to keep it in dark bottles or in a cabinet.(preferably dark bottles)
Thank you for that. I should’ve known-there is almost always a reason certain food items or chemicals (such as bleach) require light protection.
So many beautiful treasures. My favorite item was the 1880's frame. Such a special gift for your Mother.❤️
I cannot believe Mikasa glass is desirable again. I had SO many pieces in the '80s & '90s. I got rid of all of it and really don't want any of it back. Lol
I totally purchased a set of 6 small juice glasses at an antique store. My grandmother always served our breakfast juice in the small glasses and nothing else seems right. ❤🙌🤣
I’m so with ya on this 😂 🍊
We had jelly jars which was age appropriate. Now, I'd love a classier set.
@@leftcoastrevivalsThe glasses you bought look like Finnish vintage: Spektro by Heikki Orvola 😊
@@lorigrundmeier3001My mother worked for a grocery store. They were selling pressed glassware & she bought me 2 styles. They all have short stems. One for like sherbet/pudding/ice cream. The others are small glasses. Maybe not intended as juice glasses - but I love drinking it out of those. Thanks, Mom!
The wicker furniture is vintage. The black stains from iron nails is the clue. I repaired and sold vintage (full sise) wicker for over a decade. I looked for good signs of age.
I love the copper photo frame, but I’m hoping you will leave the plaque on when you give it to your mom…the beautiful old lettering I think it really adds a lot and balances the design…
My favorite: The granite napkin holder...my Dad was a stone mason back in the day (1940's and 50's) when there was such a thing as a granite stone mason...he was a very good one !!! And next, the blouse you had on at the end ...very pretty on you.
Amazing haul!!! U have an extremely keen, artistic, and spot on talent to find beautiful pieces for us!!! Your videos take us back in time to delight our eyes of crafting long lost!!! Thank u!!!💞💞🙃💞💞
Thank you!! 😊
My favorite? The blouse! Design, neckline is chef's kiss, pattern with fresh blue & cream colors, and well... the price!!! Fun!
I just love watching your vids. I think you’re so cool. Thanks for taking me along vicariously. I thrifted yesterday and got an amazing deal on a vintage Navajo ring with an incredible turquoise stone. I’m enrolled Paiute and turquoise is my hands down favorite. Plus, I make some pretty doggone good Fry Bread and know how to “weave” pine needle baskets. Just some fun-facts. You’re a gem, Miss Laura ♥️
Beautiful scenery! Love the bubbles and rainbow!❤
Your nieces will probably LOVE the wicker! So precious
You always find the coolest stuff. I love the green marble napkin holder. I’ve been thrifting the 80’s green marble pieces for awhile now. In the green I have a wine holder (which holds my wooden spoons), a trivet and a wedge of the marble for a bookend that I got for a dollar!
I visited Seaside when my daughter lived in Portland. She insisted we go even though it was raining, cold and very windy! All our photos have our hair blowing straight out! We also visited the Roloff farm for Halloween. Such a beautiful drive between Portland and Seaside.
I love the napkin holder. Very practical but so beautiful too. And I love your olive oil jugs u bought for yourself. Perfect.
I am starting an online vintage business... have the stock but haven't taken the plunge yet because I have a lot on my plate but your videos inspire me and just can't wait to get started!
you can do it ❤
Love drinking out of a small cute glass too!!! I think it makes the drink taste better 😊 Great Haul thanks for taking us with you!
Lol I think so too. .funny how a glass makes juice taste better. .goes to prove the little things matter too! I also like bathroom tap water over the kitchen tap .... Because as a small child not wanting to go to bed .. im not tired, I'm thirsty. To be told I could have a drink of water which i always ran to the bathroom to get lol ...
The painting looks perfect with the colour of the wood of your furniture. A keeper!
Left the Oregon Coast a little over a year ago...and seeing Seaside and the ocean once again brought tears to my eyes. Love your videos. I'm learning a lot. Just started my resale business a month ago.
Check pronunciations for titles and other things you might be unsure of. You have wonderful taste.
I love the quail ring. It's really lovely!
Pretty sure that little studio pottery pitcher is actually a creamer. Probanly had a matching sugar bowl.
Starry Nights looks like an amazing get-a-way. The private spa. A must do. I too am guilty of the small OJ glasses. It's just better out of a small glass.
Thanks! The Family item is my favorite find! Bless You!!
You WonT regret it. . .It really didnt have the "buy me factor" and you knew that in your heart of hearts. By the way, I am a new subscriber as if just today, 11/10/23. I like your instincts and your easy going nature and like "going-along" with ya all the way from Olive Branch, MS *which is near Memphis TN) don't ya just love the internet! Peace, Love and the Lord's blessings to you & yours!✌️🤘💞
I love studio pottery. There is something special about the natural earth tones and knowing it’s made with love.
I had that same little wicker furniture set when I was a child back in the ‘70s, so they could be at least 40 some years old.
I love the picture frame. Your Mother will love it too!
3:21 We had that wicker set when I was a kid! It was perfect for our Barbie play. 😊
Wow, wow what a wonderful shoping trip! I just think each time you have out done yourself, and then you just do it again. The Goodwill was just crazy with good deals. Thanks for sharing your good finds with us.🥰
My favorite of this episode was the cranberry scoop - I love the idea of soaps or oils in it, and l love the detail on the handle!
i looooove the triangle box and WOW something from the 1800’s as a gift would be super cool
Loved seeing all the different places y’all went to. There are so many things you got that I love. I am a sucker for pottery and you found some great pieces. I think there are a lot of potters that do a few pieces that aren’t know for any of there work. Love your videos!!🤗
Love love LOVE the things you picked up in this video! Thank you for taking us along to some awesome places!
Love the Mikasa glass bowl. I have one just like it and fill it with ornaments at Christmas.
Brilliant! 🎄
Those little juice glasses belong in your kitchen - they look fantastic with the walls! I had that rattan doll set too. It must be pretty old - because i am 70! My son would absolutely love his apple butter in that little bowl! I love the large bowl at 14:05. The shades of brown - so pretty
Hi Laura! Love watching you. Your crystal swirl bowl is one I always pick up at thrift stores to make my glass yard art flowers! Perhaps I won’t be drilling a hole in them any more ! Had no idea they were worth that much., however they make a stunning flower. I see them all the time. I live on the central Oregon coast, loved this episode.
I love your business model and plan to partially emulate it within the next year as my partner and I are retiring and moving. You are one of my online mentors because you have such contagious enthusiasm for the world of thrifting and reselling. Thank you for what you do!
Wow the Oregon coast and drive is stunning. Always love your videos finds and road trips. Love from Sydney Australia ❤️
Loved this episode, my favourite is the brass dragon vase and the painting😊
Small glasses - I have a RIDICULOUS collection of floral swanky swigs!
Haha yessss! Love it
My favorite was the antique German Christmas tree frame. Beautiful and thoughtful gift!
My favorite item ? Hmm - I love studio pottery, but that Danish napkin holder is my favorite. That blouse is stunning on you.
Hi Laura. Haven't thrifted with you for a while. You reached out to me recently and I'm thankful. I enjoy your expertise. Happy Thanksgiving!!
I loved the picture frame.😊 What a great find. Good for you to keep it for your Mom.
Ok, this is amazing…. Your editing of your theme of a good eye in “throwaway” thrifting is genius! Sustainably repurposing all of the things you see that are found by using perfect vision of what is truly great design and what can have a creative purpose. I like your style. You are inspirational !
Dang…I really should have edited that post more closely!
When it comes to small glasses…I am the same exact way. Definitely prefer small glasses that fit my small hands.
Cranberries aren’t picked. They grow in bogs and are scooped out of the water once they float.
😳😂 I had no idea!
I knew that and completely forgot about it when she showed that piece!😂
the acrylic "hands" looked like salad tossers.
The most fun item is the salad hands. I love the pottery bowls.
Yes, I love drinking out of little drinking glasses, especially juices with morning breakfast. I guess it was instilled in me from my parents, who did the same thing!
Loved your finds, bought some stunning things.
As usual always look forward to your vlogs!
I love how you decor with used items. You had inspired me to do the same thing in our small bussines
Yay! A Laura C. Video
I love your style, your purchases and your photography. Thanks for sharing.
The little cups are the size of the ones we use for our national drink here in Morocco "mint tea" , and we keep refilling them. I think you know what I'm talking about, you've been in my country Laura ❤❤❤❤
Yes I love little cups and they're great
I'm in Oregon City until the end of the month. 😊
You may have already done this, but I’d like to see you shop the stores in Aurora, Or. specifically, South End Antique Mall which I feel is a hidden Gem. It’s off the beaten path at the South End of town, isolated from the other shops and easy to miss. I have two booths there and also fill in working there. Customers tell me over and over that we have the most reasonable prices around. Dealers from Portland and the coast often shop us for their inventory. We are beautifully decorated with gorgeous vintage and Antique Christmas items. We have a huge sale Black Friday weekend with the entire store 10% discounted and many vendors 20% and more discounted.
I like small drinking glasses too!
I love everything you got at the Goodwill. I also love that blouse and the wood berry scoop. Great finds!
That top really suits you, maybe it's a keeper! ;)
I do love tiny glasses, but I love dishes of every size and shape. I love tiny dishes and dislike having a big plate with all the food on that one plate, lol. Of course sake cups are very small and I love sake!
I hope your nieces like the little furniture! When I was a kid, I wanted a set like that SO badly. I'm not sure if I actually ever got one!
