Kevin, you convinced me. If I were in your shoes I would be considering selling Eke Acres and moving to Iowa. Find the right house there. Maybe you can have a garden. Maybe a fire pit, in the backyard, and family and friends could visit and you can enjoy that in the evening. You would be able to explore new places. You definitely need to think about it and take into account your health and maybe look into doctors in Iowa. It's a lot to think about. You seem to be thinking about all the things you need to consider. I'll be praying God will guide you and Bridget.

Doing what you have in your heart is what you should do. I know you have been there all your life. I think back to you taking care of your parent's graves and all the beautiful hiking adventures that you have taken us on. Sometimes life changes don't make sense until you do them. I honestly never thought I would ever hear you say you want to leave NY, but you are right that something like cancer makes you want to get out there and explore. We pray for you and Bridget every night. We know God has you all in his hands. You both did an incredible job on that property. I was hoping you would have been able to make that beautiful flower garden with the cross and benches like you had always wanted to do, a place for prayer, maybe you will someday. We will be watching and supporting you in whatever you do. Julie and Jerry

I felt exactly as you do now. I lived in Texas 50+ years. After the jobs and family were gone, it felt hollow. Nothing was keeping me there. The neighborhood I lived in exploded in population and a huge toll road was built a stone's throw from my home. I hated it. So, after my husband retired, we left Texas for Arkansas and never looked back. We literally downsized half of what we had. We were grateful our home sold pretty quickly in 40 days. No mortgage, no debt. Best decision we ever made.

Every 20 years, Real Estate tax cost us,$1,000,000.00! Living in Arkansas now and it’s affordable! I feel at HOME!

This really resonates with me. My husband and I have lived, farmed and now trucking all of our lives in Illinois. We are leaving for Missouri late next year. Illinois politics, spending/taxes, the “green energy” push (watch for that in Iowa too), the attack on the trucking industry which is what we do now, the 2A infringement here…..we’re just done with all of it. We were fortunate to purchase property and are building on it outside of town. It sounds like you’re looking at SW IA. Some beautiful areas. Wish you the best!

Our joy does not come from our circumstances. Our joy is of the Lord. You have inspired many with sharing your trials. I wish you and Bridget the best where ever you two decide to go. But you should live! Live where ever you are. There's an old saying, "bloom where you're planted". In other words I believe that where ever the good Lord has you, you should live unto Him. He is our life, not the place but only Jesus. You and Bridget are in my prayers. It's all part of your sanctification. Stay in the Word and pray for His guidance. Then it won't matter where you are. That's what brings PURE joy. God bless you.

Nothing stays the same... This entire world has changed and Not for the better as you can surely see.😥
This is not our Home we are just passing through. We all will be going Home so enough. The Bible told us what to look for in the end days and those end days are here. We live the rv life as workampers and move around in the U.S. every 6 months, up north in the summer and someplace south in the winter for 5 years now and have been so many places, it never gets old. The only thing you should really think about is waiting till spring to try and sell as realtors have always told us winter is a harder time to sell because people don't want to move in the winter but mostly because their kids are still in school and they don't want to have to change schools. Just something to think about besides the market for selling is always the best in the spring. Whatever you and Bridgette decide I wish you the best.❤

I bought a house when I was 26. Raised my daughter there. Did a ton of work on the property over the years. Then the time came to let it go. So I let go in faith. I know God will open the next door when it's time. Home is definitely a feeling and I know I'm not at the end yet. What made this place special was definitely the people who have all gone home now. Gosh, I sure understand you brother Kevin. I can relate. Although our circumstances are different, yet quite the same in several respects.
I’m on the other side of the US. I had a small family who is 95% gone, most of which passed literally in the last 5 years, including my childhood best friend, no, more like a brother (cancer). Been real tough for me.
I grew up with my grandparents who when they passed left me and my sister (who is recovering from cancer) their home.
The neighborhood has completely changed, drug addiction everywhere. No one says hi or talks to each other. Completely different from the childhood I knew. More like the twilight zone tbh. I suppose we’re only here because everything is so darn expensive and being mortgage free has granted us breathing room for a season.
My grandmother was from Iowa, I remember her telling me stories of how much she enjoyed growing up in that area.
There’s so much more I could say to relate. I completely understand and plan on making a change as well maybe even Iowa too. Somewhere folks talk to and actually care for one another, somewhere other than here.
Really appreciate your insightful posts. I often wish it wasn’t a one way street… wish everyone the best in life. Boy, it sure goes quick.

Very good comments. I relate to A LOT of your statements. I too am in a a chapter in my life where I know change is coming. Having 28 acres and a 3 BR /2BA home I don't need and unable to keep up. Although I've been gone for years. Where I grew up does not exist anymore...used to be small country type setting where everbody knew each other and looked out for each other. Now it has a 5 lane Highway running through it. All the old farms have been replaced with subdivisions and shopping centers etc. and it crime and drug infested. There is no going back there.Where I currently live is beautiful but many of the people I have known here have either died or have moved. I have a couple off surgeries to get done and planning to either Air B& B or sell this place and move on. Bought me a new truck last week and plan to outfit for camping and adventures. Lastly I'm going to say it is not good to feel alone ,isolated and all your doing is waiting to die. You and Brigitte have done a great job fixing that place up and don't be afraid to sell it and go on your adventures.Be grateful ya have each other.

Ask the Lord to lead and guide you; If there is no peace there anymore then maybe God is calling you out and leading you elsewhere. In God's word it says, "All of my paths are peace." Thank you for sharing, Kevin. Trust in the Lord and don't walk in fear walk in faith. Start speaking God's word over your life and not speak words of doom, gloom, and disaster. Our words have more power than we realize. Many aren't aware, in fact I wasn't aware until someone told me and talked on the subject. Demons, monitoring spirits, watchers, they call them at times, listen to what we say and monitor the things we do and take that information back to higher ranking demons who in turn start plotting and planning against us, at the same time, angels also hear the things we say and they respond on our behalf when we speak God's word and promises over our lives but those promises and blessings from the Lord can be hindered if we're not walking with and obeying the Lord in whatever it is He wants us to do. The Lord bless and keep you, Kevin, God bless you and Bridgette. 🙏🕊️✝️📖♥️🙂

Can totally relate, Kevin!!! Been watching your Vids for a few months now. I'm 60. Been disabled bad knees, back, etc. 25yrs. Central Wisconsin. Used to hunt, fish, bars, everything. I feel exactly the same way u do. I feel like I need to leave my area also or something? But I have some family holding me back, etc. My whole area, just feels dead now a lot of days. It's super busy mostly but the the Air feels dead. Like there's no Spirit anywhere, anymore! I think it's like that everywhere now. I believe it's a Spiritual event, etc. Seems to be No Class.. or Mostly No morals anymore of People.
I hope this helps u somewhat. Will try to respond more later as goes.
    G. Bless & Bridget. " I truly wish I both a Blessed & A very Merry Christmas this yr.! P.S. Cherish every moment with Bridget. Do not by any means take your time for granite with her. Cherish every moment. At least u have her. Lots of others don't even have that.

Leave it bro. It’s going to put you under The weather. Maintenance. Constant overcast dreary days. That place is still home to all my family but I had to get out as well. It is rough living there full time for sure. We just sold our big nice house and downsized for the same reasons. We have been here (SC) a couple years now and have no real friends to speak of and the neighbors are never outside doing any dang thing let alone talking to each other. I have one 80 year old neighbor next to our rental that is old school like you speak of. He’s awesome to talk to and is always outside.
But that’s it. People just do not go outside anymore. I can’t stand being inside.
The failed and declining monetary system has beaten everyone down to a point of giving up. If things do not improve drastically starting Jan 20 then I too will have lost all remaining hope for a better life here. The thing I love most now is being barefoot in the sun and working around the houses. Golfing now and then. It’s hard to even make real friends at this point. The division is strong. For now I feel partially at home but also separated from family. The RV option is sooo expensive and they depreciate so much that it’s a hard choice. We need way better built homes and better travel options along with much cheaper energy to start. Not sure how we get there. If DJT is just a part of the deceitful show we are screwed IMO.
    🤷🏼‍♂️🙏

Metairie has changed in the same way the past 10 years. The majority of people living here now don't share Christian family values. But, most parents who started families here in the 1970s were military veterans. Who says the Pledge of Allegiance the way we did in 1970s and 1980s? Do they know John Philip Sousa songs? Do they feel Hail Mary and Glory Be follow the Pledge? There's too few of us.

I didn't know you & Bridg. changed everything at that house. It is nice to have money and ability to do that. Everything new? I can't even imagine that. We live in an apartment building made in 1908. It's falling apart. But it's the only place we have to live. Have no money to move. But I'm thankful for a place to live & I still have joy because I have the Lord Jesus in my life. Homeless people have it worse than me, it's cold here. You said you like talking to strangers. I've done that my whole life here, I get in long conversations with strangers a lot. Deep intelligent talks. It's nice. I've learned things.

Y'all's future is looking bright. Get through your surgery and heal then scout out some nice places near Bridget's family. You will feel a part of something bigger with loved ones near. I don't have that and I desperately wish I did. On a different note make sure your insurance will cover your anesthesia and that you will get it for the entire surgery!!!! Merry Christmas to you and Bridget !!

I 100% can relate to this video. My husband and I are in almost the same scenario. We have a nice home on 20 acres in central MN. But I truly dislike the long cold winters. Plowing snow, icy roads. I so badly want to move to a warmer climate to live the rest of my life . However, I also do not want to have regrets selling this property. We have many discussions regarding this and are trying to figure out what to do and where to move to. Thank you for sharing.

Now ya's have made the decision to sell and move on, life will become exciting and relaxing once more. Having something to look forward to in life is so important for ones soul.

I'm 67 now, but when I was very young and stationed with the 2nd Infantry (DMZ) in Korea, our Company Commander had a big sign on the wall behind his desk that read "Life is a b*t*h, and then you die." I've never forgotten that sign and I now think what that sign meant.

I hear you, I feel that way about our home. My family has all passed away or others we don't have any relationships with for various reasons. I got sick almost died, and it didn't even matter to some them ,was a harsh reality . I have no reason to stay here. This state had gone to crap and this house doesn't accommodate my physical challenges . My husband is set on staying though because of his job. You are very lucky Bridget is on the same page with you. That's huge . I am waiting for my husband to retire but every bit of me wants to to just get up and go.

I can relate to your situation. My husband and I have a farm in Maine but being in our 60s the winters were too difficult. After vacationing in FL for several years during Feb/March, we fulfilled our dream of buying a place there. Now winters were something to look forward to. Our first winter in FL my husband was diagnosed with nasopharangeal cancer and given 3 months to live. We found Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa. They gave him 3 years which we thoroughly lived our best life. They have financing and if you qualify, free care. It is a fantastic place. He died a year ago and now I have to sell our dream and move back to the farm. Florida is a great place and there's even rural areas, great beaches. But best of all is right now it's sunny, 70° and there are so many things to do. I would stay here but the lot rent is too much when living on one social security check. Why not treat yourself to a sunny warm vacation in FL and check it out?

As we loved singing and listening to others try.Actually you meet many types of people lol.Anyways many jobs, relationships, places to fulfill ones life. One dreams can be fulfilled. Others not what we thought they might be.Change is a great thing but remember. You can't always get what you want but you sure can try.Eventually it all seems like a repeat of what you did years before. Ah! Life maybe just a dream... Remember were just passing through...

We moved from Michigan to northern Colorado 16 years ago, we left behind our cousins who we did not get along with and all our friends. I have seen most of Michigan in my lifetime from my teens until we moved. We got tired of how rude people were on the roads and in public too and the cold long winters. I am 64 now never married no kids and live with my mother 87 and brother59 in a subdivision but the neighbors are nice. We love the mountains so much beauty here the winters are mild and not brutally cold to the bone like the Midwest or out east. I never get tired of driving the same mountain roads here close to home or other parts of the state. People here are mostly friendly but there are jerks too like anywhere else but not as many. Our father died here December 2017 so we will be here with him when we die. Yes, as we get older, we slow down get sick and downsize if possible. And time goes by so fast you notice it more, I wish you the best in where you decide to live in Iowa and your travels in 2025 enjoy life.

You're not alone in your feelings. I'm 60. I think back when I was young and everything and every place had a special almost magical feeling to it. I no longer have these feelings and I really miss it. Sometimes I get a fleeting feeling of home and that good feeling I used to have, but it's only for a second. I think age changes us in that respect. I miss the older folks and the stories, and I miss my home. My real home in the town I grew up in. Things sure have changed. I find myself thinking a lot about the next life. Heaven. I think it's going to be really great.

Just buy an RV and go where you want. I live in central NY and know what your saying. However, in my area folks are friendly and accommodating. Have lived in my county 60 years and still feel part of the community. Change is a fact of life and in some respects you have to adapt/overcome. My property(50+ acres) will be my 7 y/o sons someday. We travel, but enjoy coming home ... Good luck!!

I get it. When one receives a declining health diagnoses or has a health scare it makes one look at life thru a new light. Certainly, life is going to take you down a different path. You both worked hard all Summer and are ready to make changes. It will work out the way it's supposed to, it always does. Get your surgery done first and strengthened up so you feel well enuf to take that trip down the new path. Have Faith you will be where you are meant to be.

I in ways understand Kevin, I'm not dealing with a terminal illness, of which I'm almost certain would be incredibly difficult to deal with all on its own without everything else on your plate Kevin. I live on a small farm in the hill country of the scenic rim in Queensland Australia, & I used to do pretty much everything give or take the odd thing here or there, now with my injuries/ailments, I'm basically in chronic pain 24/7 & basically feel as useful as water sprinklers in a wading pool. I've said to my family when they kindly tell me "Luke you are coping really well", I say "Well thank you most kindly, but if it wasn't for Jesus Christ, I wouldn't be coping, not at all would I. From waking up each morning in chronic pain to the point where I must get up because it's too painful to lay in bed, to going to sleep in chronic pain, it's always there, anyone who says, "oh just get on with things it's alright" has never experienced it, pain yes, constant chronic pain I very much doubt it, because it's inescapable, you literally cannot get away from it. I don't like taking pain killers as I come from a past of addictions that the Lord Jesus saved me from there were many, but the pain meds I do allow myself are only taken at night before I go to bed, so I can actually get some sleep, as chronic pain + zero sleep= "NOT GOOD". I guess what I'm getting at is, yes!, when you aren't fit & healthy a large property can be exceptionally difficult to maintain & stay on top of, I know they only way I am able is by praying for strength & tolerance every morning after I've woken up made myself my coffee's, sat in my chair with my dog & spent time with Holy Spirit reading the Bible, I know it's him "Jesus Christ/Holy Spirit" in & through me, that I'm able to cope at all Kevin. You need to do what's best for you & Bridgette, she's going to be your wife, & so her well-being & yours too is seemingly at the top of the list. Anyway mate, God bless you all & I'll surely keep you all in my morning & evening prayers. Take care & God bless you all mate.

Downstate New York is much the same. Most of the businesses that were thriving here during Y2K are long gone -- C-19 was the death knell. I could probably individually name one person I knew in high school who each relocated to 25-30 separate states. I'd have followed in their footsteps if not for my family that remains. Your reasoning for relocating makes perfect sense. We're gonna miss Eke Acres as the background to many of your videos. All the best life has to offer you in '25.
