Ok. I know this will NOT come out completely sounding right, but hopefully you get the point. I'm 52 years old. I live one block from my mom. I've worked the same job for 34 years. I didn't commit to marriage till I was 26. Thirteen years later it ended in divorce. I had our one and only son in 2004. He is my best friend and most honest human being in my life. I just buried my father a couple of months ago and to be honest I have not viewed life the same since. I have spent more than half my life doing things that have not brought me joy. I have worked my life away working for the man. Last week I realized I have over 8 weeks vacation to use because I have never taken one. And why?? Because it's SO easy to just accept where you are and just go with it, never questioning if there might be an option. When I stumbled upon your channel awhile ago, I was so encouraged. Why you may ask? Because it gave me hope. You made me realize you are the only one that limits yourself. And it is possible to literally do, go, anywhere. Keep posting and know you are inspiring all around the world!
Literally, you are my 52 year old brother. Literally the same set up as you. I at 50 took that time when I was in my 20's to get out there and see things, experience things. I never got married but that time I took allowed me to meet the right partner and it didn't happen until I was in my 40's. Plenty of other relationships though. And over the last few years, I've been going on adventures again. Toning up my mind and body to do things I hadn't or hadn't in years. I view it as a new chapter and so I'm trying to convince my brother of your points. You don't have to accept where you are emotionally and physically. We are creatures that need change in our lives at different stages. Its's not quite twilight time but the days are waning and its time for the next twenty. Except I'm wiser and appreciate who I am more and the natural joy of just being out there. Life begins anew at 50. It's time....again..lol We lost our father in May of 2020 and it changes you and the way you look at life. With new eyes you start examining how much of life you have taken for granted or missed. I took it as a sign that to go along with how different I was viewing things, I needed to live life more fully and enjoy the things I took for granted and missed doing. Missed being me or delaying the next chapter of happiness that I could make.. I'm here, I'm healthy and can do all those things and maybe a few things to strive for. If your heart feels you can, than you can and will see evolution with you.. Enjoy it because that voice tugging at you to go, is life calling you back....answer it.
I went from my mother's house, to my husband's house and then raised 2 kids on my own after my divorce... after the end of my 2nd short marriage, I decided it was now my turn at life...today I ordered my teardrop trailer... I started camping solo again 3 yrs ago... now I'm getting ready to head across country to pick up my trailer... I AM 70 YEARS OLD and cannot wait to get on the road and see the country....IT IS NEVER TOO LATE and I learned long ago that only I can make myself truly happy and to leave that to another person to do was useless... you have to be comfy in your own skin... easy peasy...take care of yourself and start with baby steps.. you'll be surprised I hope
everyone needs to treat food service and grocery store workers the way Mav does. I've been in that industry, and there's nothing better than someone who's just genuinely kind coming through your day.
My daughter worker at the supermarket for years and there were some absolute aholes that came through. I always treat customer service personnel kindly (as well as anyone I deal with in life!)
Mav, when you said meaningless relationships and wasted time... that hit home. I'm 35 now, making my circle small and making more time for myself. Something I wish I started years ago to be honest. Good for you, taking the time for yourself to get where you want to be!
I can tell you are really persevering to bring meaning to each day. Keep on truckin’, Mav. This grandma thinks you’ll find even more joy in each day as you move along. I love your vids.
I'm proud of you for identifying and doing what you need to do for you! Meaningless relationships, wasted time, and also not knowing how to describe it without feeling you'll be judged or that you think differently. I feel that more than most. It's okay to be the outlier, not being what everyone else is. You are a strong and incredible person that I've watched for years and look up to and you should know that you are not alone!
you treat strangers with respect and thats a quality that is going missing these days, especially with your age and younger. I admire that in you Mav. Keep spreading that good vibe brother
I just got back from Montreal and the people there are amazing I literally got asked out for dinner by two different families within two hours of being there. But then I feel like the mood is really different in Vancouver, unless you're in a "group" nobody wants to talk to you
I'm happy for him that he's happy as well. I feel like a lot of us live through these vids in some sort of way. When I was in my 20's I was moving in between NY and CA every couple of years and the road trips are some of the most memorable of my life, it would be a dream to make a living doing that.
Dude. Your just an awesome person and it’s really cool that you let us be a part of your life. Kinda funny that you chose a life that took you away from frivolous relationships but you have sooooo many people who love you and watch every video you make because you’re such a real dude who has found an amazing way through life. I am happy for you and happy to be able to know you in a way. Thanks for doing what you do… it’s very cool. Keep on truckin brother!!!
Mav, that emotional and euphoric feeling you get as you leave on an anticipated trip is your realization that you are finally achieving your dream of freedom - freedom to be doing what you realize you have always wanted to do... Relish that experience...
I so relate to the anxiety of leaving and starting a new journey. I just left NY to spend the summer in Montana after being back home for a month. I solo traveled for about 2.5 months before that and once I’m back out exploring I always adjust but there’s always that initial anxiety of getting back out there
I relate so hard to the intense rush of emotions that come once you’re finally back out on the road. It happens to me every time. Find myself out driving to the next location and being so overwhelmed by the feeling of happiness, freedom, and just over content with being in the moment exactly where I am. It’s cathartic and it’s so great to see someone else feelings those exact same emotions. As always, love the content, never stop what you’re doing. Can’t wait till I can get back out on the road again.
You're speaking my kind of language in this video. Past couple years I've been slowly distancing myself from person I used to be and the people I used to chill with. I still love my friends and all the memories I've made but part of me just needs to get away. The partying, drugs and drinking just got old, not to mention I wasted lots of time like you said and I feel like now I've gotta play catch up. I'm 25 and still live at home because I spent years doing nothing but partying and goofing off thinking that was what life was about, boy was I wrong. Now I'm working 6 to 7 days a week trying to get up on my feet. The outdoors, camping and fishing puts me at peace and keeps my mind in the right place. Love you're content man, keep it up!
i really appreciate you leaving in the part where you got hit with that wave of emotions. you're very human and not afraid to show it and i think that's why i like watching your videos:)
Thanks for showing all sides of you and your character. It was refreshing to see you get emotional, it shows you care. Love your videos. Keep on Trukin’

I turned on my local news here in Knoxville and they had a great story , featuring you !! Keep on making videos and we will keep watching. Safe travels my friend !!
So , I discovered your channel awhile ago. I remember I said this boy has a Minnesotan accent! Sure enough you said you were. I've lived in MN for about half my life. Me and my girlfriend watch your videos and now more than ever are we flirting with the idea of living the "van life". Thank you for being an inspiration!
You have a good head on your shoulders young man. We only get one trip here, make it about you. When you are at ease with yourself and life in general everything else will fall into place. Glad you quit the partying, lost 30 years, friends and family. It is much harder down the road to get it back. Happy trails!
I went on my first truck camping trip solo yesterday, wow does that take courage. I would always wait for someone to company me and I was tired of being bailed on. This was all Thanks to you Mav!
Legit the only channel that I instantly stop what I'm doing to watch every new vid that drops. Thanks for being yourself and making awesome vids, and good luck on the journey! Looking forward to the next video.
@Michael Harris JESUS knows everyone intimately. Everyone needs to know JESUS intimately. JESUS is coming any second for HIS Bride. The Engaged will be taken to the Wedding Supper. The left behind will endure the Great Tribulation. It;s obvious, we are at the end times. Choose wisely!
Mav u inspired me to take up a camping passion. Now I’ve began construction on my f250 and next month when I finish I’m driving from Texas to Colorado just because. I understand the anxiety and emotional part but man it doesn’t get any better than being able to do what you do I wish I had more time.
Since I’m from Canada in Ontario hopefully you pass through on your way from Niagara Falls you should come through the great Lakes. lake Huron is absolutely beautiful and it has great fishing as well. come in through Sarnia and Port Huron border crossing when your heading home to cross back in the Michigan. I too am an old person watching your show lol 57 years young and I thoroughly enjoy your vlogs, keep up the great content I wish to that I had lived my life more in my 20s and gone travelling more unfortunately health catches up with you when you hit your 50s and 60s so anybody Young out there do it while you’re in your 20s and 30s.
Have fun on the east coast mav! I road tripped up there last summer and had a blast! Your videos inspired me to start car camping and I love the freedom it provides me. Keep on trucking!
You're in it for the inner success, purpose, peace, and satisfaction. Partying, focusing on short cheap thrills, is certainly not a good way to live. You're killin' it Mav
I have always thought it was weird how he quit drinking all together I get stop partying but to give up having a nice cold brewski if you're not an alcoholic seems crazy since camping an beer go hand in hand
So stoked to see you in Michigan! Was wondering when you’d make it to the UP! So much public land up there to camp on. glad to see that was your first stop! Enjoy the road trip 🤘🏼
Gotta love the UP. Had a memorable road trip back in 1980. Stayed at the Wonderland Motel in Epoufette for a couple of days. US Highway 1 ? Ended up in Toronto after driving all around Lake Superior. Wonderful country and great people. Greetings from old England 🇺🇸🇬🇧
You said it perfectly brother. Wasted time and relationships - it's not really wasted if you love that life. But you love life itself and were lead to something greater. Be blessed Mav (for you are.) But all it takes is your awareness.
Mav, the muffler on your diesel heater maybe restricting the exhaust too much to keep the soot out of the chamber. Also when cleaning remove the glow plug and theres a screen and a couple small holes inside where the glow plug screws In that get clogged and causes a failed ignition and smoking like you had. I have a dozen of these units on the road in my semis. We like to run kerosene in them for a cleaner burn. Helps reduce maintenance in cleaning. Love the channel.
mav you are the definition of made it, keep up the work man. biggest inspiration to those struggling, love the personality you carry, the energy is amazing
Honestly watching you Mav gives me less Anxiety in life and more of an opportunity and drive to want to do something similar as you. It's bliss to come onto TH-cam and see that you upload content the way you do and It's such an uplift to my personal mood and probably everyone elses, keep up the great content Mav brother! you deserve every sub :D
I feel ya Brother! Mav, I agree with you about the state of people in the world today, there are too many meaningless, selfish, superficial people who will grind you into dust if they can waste your life for their own pleasure. While isolating or avoiding these people seems a good idea on the surface, at what point are you missing something? I met the love of my life, I would trade tolerating all the bozos in the world for my chance to meet her and fall in love. I would not have had that chance if I stayed on my own and to myself. We are all social beings and we need love that we can't get by ourselves. It's true! Best to you!
Oh man, you'll love the Niagara region. Especially on the Canadian side, such great spots and views. Looking forward to seeing the rest of your East Coast trip.
I just love how Mav lives his life and how he creates his own memories. Its how I would love to live my life too but I feel like it’s impossible in England where I live. I just have to live my dream through him.
Mav i work on these kind of heaters but the brand i normally see are d5 diesel heaters. you can run the heater through kerosene and it will clear out all the sut and it will run brand new. everyone like this
You say you don't have friends, but you do. We're here and we support what you're doing. I've been watching your stuff almost since the beginning and as a fellow minnesotan... you need anything all you gotta do is ask. Ever passing thru the north side of the twin cities and need a free safe place to park it, let me know. Best of luck and safe travels Mav!
The Canadian side of the falls is best, but I’d love to show you around Buffalo for food and leisure. Always welcome have a spot to park and camp on my land in Buffalo if you need Mav.
I totally understand what you're saying. I left my state of Texas about 8 years ago. I do return to visit family occasionally. I've lived in Tennessee those 8 years. Last week I came to Pennsylvania to visit friends. I've lived in tents and my Ford Explorer Sport. I love that kind of camping lifestyle. Take care brother and YHVH bless.
We can’t be happy 100% of the time. What you should look for is PEACE. Everything has a time and place. Focus on yourself now that you have the time. Life changes quickly. Take care Mav. Thanks for the content
I really look forward to seeing your videos and just wishing they were longer. Mav these gas prices Gotta be killing ya . I live on the East Coast and we’re glad your coming to hang out, enjoy yourself and stay safe!!
On the diesel heater, there are settings on the controller that you can set it a bit leaner to prevent the soot build up, also if you change the fuel to kerosene, it will burn a bit cleaner as well.
dude your content is soooo wholesome I hope one day to have the freedoms you enjoy and just make a video when ever I want not have the constraints of work, I’m going to spain for at least a month very soon and plan on doing daily videos
Mav we human , it’s normal to have these feelings , it’s the fact u push thru and have created such an awesome community should show you what kind of man you are becoming. Keep ur chest out brother
Would love for you to one day make a trip down south! It's beautiful here in North Carolina, from the mountains to the sea, there is so much to see! Anyways safe travels on your trip bud. You can pretty much say "I've made it" now living the life you've got now! ❤
Mav, as a guy that's from Maine and currently lives in Niagara County NY I can say you will really enjoy this trip. Take some time and fish the tribs off of Ontario lake, it's world class steelhead fishing. If you make it to Maine before the end of the month you could even try your hand at eastern turkey hunting.
Ayyyye Mav! I live in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, born and raised a Yooper! I also was blessed enough to get to live in Marquette for a few years, it’s one of the most beautiful spots in the UP. Lot and lots of exploring to be done up here my friend, some of the best trout fishing in the most beautiful spots! Lots of great camping as well! Carry on my friend, drive safe, never forget how you got this far!
You make me miss the Midwest man.. I'm a loner too, most of my life tbh. You're a cool dude, and your videos are dope! Keep on truckin! PS I see you jammin on that AirplaneMode!
So happy for you, Mav. You have came such a long way and I’m looking forward to seeing where the next adventure leads you. Thanks for all the amazing content and bringing us along with you. Be safe! 🙌
Was thinking earlier about not seein' ya in awhile. So glad you showed up today. Reminded me of things I missed about your demeaner....things that brought me to you back in the begining. Thanks again Mav. Enjoy the East and don't forget about us out West!
Hell yeah mav, you've come so far and definitely made an impact on thousands of lives and most likely push others to push towards their dreams and happiness. You deserve it all and I can't wait to see what you have planned next bro. All love, respect and appreciation.
My girlfriend works for the county health department. They have a saying there, "When in doubt, throw it out" Got to admit. I'm guilty of not always following that rule either. 😁 You're a quality dude, Mav! Love the way you treat people. Says a lot about your upbringing.
As someone who works in the seafood department of a major grocery store chain, if you encounter previously frozen raw shrimp that has a slight pinkish tinge, throw it away or return it to the store you bought it from for a refund. It probably means that it was exposed to unsafe temperatures for an extended period of time somewhere between harvesting and purchase.
meaningless relationships and wasted time had me feeling the same exact way. i now live in Key West. Just bought my first house and am living the life I always imagined in my head when I was younger, broke and going nowhere.
Hey Mav! My dad built a house in Kewenaw county and I can def vouge that the U.P. Is an incredible place. People are so nice and the brisk piney air is a memory I will cherish.
Anyone like the guy so much you feel like you want to send something to him lol. I am embarrassed to say I did that a year ago, never heard back. Never get to close to anyone, they will usually disappoint lol. But you just can't but love this kid ha ha. Mav you are so loved!!! 👍👍👍
If you're going to the east coast of Canada, you have to meet up with Chrome Valdez of Vancity Vanlife Mav! That would be awesome to see you guys together for a truck tour. I know he follows you and watches your videos. I hope this happens. Keep on Truckin'! Safe travels.
Watching this right now on my reg TV and noticed as you got "choked up" I'm sixty and to have what your able to utilize at your age group now is amazing! Don't waste a second because regret is the most saddening aspect of life, your doing amazing and influencing generations to come...your not being selfish your being formative and wise, one day you'll meet your match then whatever force that's out there will guide you from there...keep on safe'ng on and enjoy the many miles of adventure that's ahead for you...P.S.pinch your barbs down on your hooks...fish have feelings tool 😆
Niagara Falls’ view is amazing on the Canadian side, and at night they light it up. Our side is alright, if it’s warm enough the boat that gets close to it is really cool! But I hope you enjoy your trip, safe travels!
Love the channel, very introspective episode. Love the Mav Cooks portion of the program, makes me hungry. You eat better on the road than many of us do at home. Me, diced chicken breast cooked with onion and garlic, side of rice and steamed veggies
This might sound weird but I can only hope I can raise my sons to have such good character as you do, mav. You just seem like such a nice and kind person. I don’t think that’s a front for us.
Montreal native here, some restaurants to try out: La Banquise for poutine, Schwartz's Deli for Montreal smoked meat, St Viateur for bagels. There's also some nice quiet camping over at Cap Saint-Jacques at the western end of the island. Mount Royal offers some nice hiking as well. I also recommend Jean Talon Market if you want to cook for yourself while you're here. If you like nature and museums, the Botanical Gardens and the Redpath Museum are hidden gems. Oh and if you're at all a fan of hockey, a tour of the Bell Centre is a must.
It can be hard and very isolating to chart a path of life away from empty and shallow engagements and relationships, But in the end it's profoundly worth it. It's a beautiful thing to see someone truly deciding for himself what he wants and doesn't want out of life. You're and incredibly cool person Mav and I love what you do.
Awesome man. Loved to see how passionate you are for what you do. its so rare to actually be able to enjoy life and take in the small things. You have inspired so many. Keep on trucking bro. Love Canada.

I went on my first truck camping trip solo yesterday, wow does that take courage. I would always wait for someone to company me and I was tired of being bailed on. This was all Thanks to you Mav!
That’s how I started camping alone. Can’t wait for the right partner or buddy’s to get the same time off. Just gotta do it, it’s worth ut
Ever since my grandpa passed my love for fishing has went away over the years, thanks for bringing that want back to me!!!

Me 🙋🏽♀️ Too
it makes me smile so big when mav interacts with strangers while he’s out and about ! everyone is so nice to him and ofc mav is a gentleman !!
@Praise Jesus, Repent or Likewise Perish shut up book club
Manners make the man.
Nice work Mav, you have inspired me massively over the last couple of years. 😊
Mav u inspired me to take up a camping passion. Now I’ve began construction on my f250 and next month when I finish I’m driving from Texas to Colorado just because. I understand the anxiety and emotional part but man it doesn’t get any better than being able to do what you do I wish I had more time.
Keep on truckin brother!! Days always become better when mav post!
If true originality is every made to win awards, Mav will have a shelf full of them.Keep on Trucking Mav! Best on TH-cam hands-down.
Big fan of your work, Mav! You're an Inspiration to get out and experience the world
Love the cooking
You're in it for the inner success, purpose, peace, and satisfaction. Partying, focusing on short cheap thrills, is certainly not a good way to live. You're killin' it Mav
I have always thought it was weird how he quit drinking all together I get stop partying but to give up having a nice cold brewski if you're not an alcoholic seems crazy since camping an beer go hand in hand
@@adamthomas4638 It's a slippery slope for a lot of people. Myself included. Aiming to have just one or two usually ends up being four or five lol
You deserve this man! The younger you would definitely be proud, it's cool to be emotional about growth!
Mav, from a 46 year old momma in Oklahoma...you make me so proud. You continue to show maturity beyond your years. Great job! Keep on truckin!
mav you bring an insane amount of happiness in my life, keep doing you
Went on my first truck camping trip last night and I enjoyed it more than i thought i would , thanks for planting the idea in my head
It's very impressive that you repair things.
Most people these days would just throw things away and get another one.
Good for you ! 👍
Oh man, you'll love the Niagara region. Especially on the Canadian side, such great spots and views. Looking forward to seeing the rest of your East Coast trip.
Mav is a very wise young man. And we are also very proud of you for chasing and achieving some of your dreams so early in life.
I just love how Mav lives his life and how he creates his own memories. Its how I would love to live my life too but I feel like it’s impossible in England where I live. I just have to live my dream through him.
it is impossible for you considering England is a tiny tiny little island
Mav i work on these kind of heaters but the brand i normally see are d5 diesel heaters. you can run the heater through kerosene and it will clear out all the sut and it will run brand new. everyone like this
You say you don't have friends, but you do. We're here and we support what you're doing. I've been watching your stuff almost since the beginning and as a fellow minnesotan... you need anything all you gotta do is ask. Ever passing thru the north side of the twin cities and need a free safe place to park it, let me know. Best of luck and safe travels Mav!
Look up parasocial relationships dude
@@vwrFEW So he's the persona? lol
Learning to be content is key.
Thanks for always making us smile Mav. I am 55 and get much inspiration from you Keep on Truckin Mav!
Just recently started watchin- been doin circles at the bottom of a pit. Watching you gives me inspiration and hope.
I really look forward to seeing your videos and just wishing they were longer. Mav these gas prices Gotta be killing ya . I live on the East Coast and we’re glad your coming to hang out, enjoy yourself and stay safe!!
I really really enjoy your personality. Please keep trucking on man, You have a BRIGHT future.
Yes we human uh uh
@@TonyMontanaXx oh really?, I thought we were giraffes
Would love for you to one day make a trip down south! It's beautiful here in North Carolina, from the mountains to the sea, there is so much to see! Anyways safe travels on your trip bud. You can pretty much say "I've made it" now living the life you've got now! ❤
Mav, as a guy that's from Maine and currently lives in Niagara County NY I can say you will really enjoy this trip. Take some time and fish the tribs off of Ontario lake, it's world class steelhead fishing. If you make it to Maine before the end of the month you could even try your hand at eastern turkey hunting.
Be safe Mav, look forward to seeing the future content
Hey Mav!!! Love watching you buddy. Can’t wait to see your travels this trip! Be safe!
GrannyT
I admire you for your passion and drive (literally) sharing your journeys with us. 🥰 God bless you Mav!
Mav - you’re living life to the fullest. Glad to see you doing what you love! 👍
So happy for you, Mav. You have came such a long way and I’m looking forward to seeing where the next adventure leads you. Thanks for all the amazing content and bringing us along with you. Be safe! 🙌
Love getting to know mav, feel like a lot of us feel how you do or did!
You're awesome, Mav! Keep the videos and wise words coming! Rooting for ya from Virginia Beach!
They have a saying there, "When in doubt, throw it out"
Got to admit. I'm guilty of not always following that rule either. 😁
You're a quality dude, Mav! Love the way you treat people. Says a lot about your upbringing.
it's kinda crazy how his small talk can completely change someone's day, i feel like we treat people like robots nowadays
People are so nice and the brisk piney air is a memory I will cherish.
stay safe mav!!
Anyone like the guy so much you feel like you want to send something to him lol. I am embarrassed to say I did that a year ago, never heard back. Never get to close to anyone, they will usually disappoint lol. But you just can't but love this kid ha ha. Mav you are so loved!!! 👍👍👍
Just did my first stealth overnight last weekend. I feel like Mav has awakened something inside of me! Thank you Mav
That's so awesome to hear.🙂
Mav: doesnt have a meal plan
Also Mav: pulls out everything needed for a planned meal
except for the iffy shrimp, i hope that wasn't planned lol

Mav is ALWAYS ready (prepared)… 🛻
Nothing like sitting back and enjoying a vlog by Mav 🙌 keep the videos coming and sharing your life journey, it’s inspiring all of us 🙌
MAV, you just did. You made a very wise decision, for such a young man.
Mav, I was taught when it comes to ANY kind of food, "when in doubt, throw it out" its not worth getting food poisoning man, ever. Cheers
You totally have a point here mate. On top of that, it's more difficult to enjoy your meal wondering whether it will give you food poisoning or not..
This might sound weird but I can only hope I can raise my sons to have such good character as you do, mav. You just seem like such a nice and kind person. I don’t think that’s a front for us.
Its not a front at all when I was like 13 he used to host meetups for fingerboarding or “tech decks” and he was really nice.
@@jeffreymccracken533 that’s awesome ❤️
Sick.
Mav when its 46 degrees: "its gorgeuos"
Me when its 46 degrees: *IM NEVER GOING OUTSIDE EVER AGAIN*
It’s all about what you’re used to for sure - after a Minnesota winter I’m sure 46 is balmy. Not so much for folks from warmer locales.
i’m from maine and it’s beautiful here now with spring happening and summer starting!!! really nice weather as well :D
Shrimp is only good for ONE to TWO days TOPS in the frig, like crab! Hope all went well!?
Hey Mav.... You should swing by Toronto on the way home.... 2 of the biggest cities in Canada in one run??
I suck with words this foo is literally therapy I didn’t even know I needed and god damn do I appreciate it keep it up bossman😂!!
