Looks good. I would add some orange zest and a few cranberries on top as a garnish. Then add slices of oranges cut in half to go around the jello mold.

Footnote : My mother has that same copper mold , it's been on the wall for years along with the rest of the collection as decoration , so shocked to see one actually being used ... after all these decades ... 😇

I make something similar! I use whole cranberries cooked with either apple juice or orange juice concentrate. I add chopped walnuts and chopped celery in with the pineapple. I've also added mandarain orange slices to it. SO good!

that's what I love about vintage baking, the memories and stories associated with a receipe. We don't have any receipes we make each year but rather my dad makes/dresses the turkey.

We have always had Indian pudding for dessert (along with apple and/or pumpkin pies). This is a very old traditional Maine dish made with the main ingredients cornmeal, milk, and molasses and baked. Yum!

Happy thanksgiving. Our family tradition is all my kids have picked out a food they like and I make it. Mine is always turkey. Since they choose the same things every year I know what we’re having always.

  • @MeganGranholm

We make this every year, with a very similar recipe. We add chopped pecans into the jello an hour after it starts chilling, and then do a cup of Cool Whip and the block of cream cheese on top. And we use a regular ol' casserole dish even though it's not as pretty as the mold. It holds more, which is good because this is probably my favorite Thanksgiving recipe.

This looks so good and light after such a heavy thanksgiving dinner. I am definitely going to try making this one. Our traditional side was cranberry sauce, mom was the queen of making that. On my bf's side they have what they call "pink salad". It's a can of jellied cranberry, raspberry jello and then cool whip mixed in. It's a little tricky to make sure the jello is chilled enough and to not over mix the cool whip when you put it in or it makes it runny and won't set up. But I have made it for 2 years now and as long as I make it ahead of time and give it time to really set up it works. I love your channel and reminiscing with all of your videos. Thank you for sharing.

The jello looks very nice and fresh. You could use some pieces of fresh pineapple and cranberry as a garnish around plate. Your family and guest will know ingredients inside. Sweet potatoes is a favorite in my family. We just put some butter and drizzle maple syrup. Put sweet potatoes under broiler and brown tops. It looks pretty and tastes oh so good.

I actually found a website that said they found this jello ring in a 1951 newspaper, so 40's to 50's would be accurate. I always end up hosting Thanksgiving, but my go to is a mashed sweet potato dish I kind of wing every year with cinnamon, nutmeg and brown sugar in it. Its sweet, savory and so yummy. Otherwise my mother in law brings about 5-10 various jello type salads, or "Fruit salads" which are really just whipped cream and fruit. lol. I am not a fan of them, but my husband and his brothers love it. I'm more about the turkey, mashed potato, and cranberries (just like mom used to make with the rings and all...aka canned lol) fan myself, but I have a lot of allergies that limit what I can eat. Happy Thanksgiving Laci and family! I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

It looks so great and yummy!! Those are all some of my favorite ingredients so I know I would love it! My mom was a wonderful cook, and Thanksgiving was her favorite holiday. We are a large family and on Thanksgiving just like any other day, she could whip up fabulous food and make it look so effortless. This will be our 15th Thanksgiving without her, but in memory and spirit we prepare her dressing. I'm one of the few that love cranberry sauce, so I make sure that we always have that. One tradition that I particularly shared with my mom , was to get up early and make Pillsbury cinnamon and orange rolls and turn on the Macy's parade, it is something that I still do. Happy Thanksgiving!!🍗🥧❤️

Looks really pretty! Love your outfit too. I make a dish every year that my Nanny first made in the 1960’s. Frozen Fruit Salad. It wasn’t meant to be frozen but she forgot she had popped it into the freezer to cool quickly. It’s my kids favorite, even over pies and other desserts. It’s just cool whip mixed with mini marshmallows, crushed pineapple(drained), mandarin orange slices, sliced seedless grapes(oh boy do I remember helping mom seed grapes for this before you could get seedless). I think my Nan put in nuts too but no thanks. Freeze and then slice into squares with a knife dipped in hot water. Those frozen grapes! So yummy.
