Those late '40s-early '50s saucer/platter hats are pretty hard to find these days!.......Especially ones that aren't all smashed or bent! 🤷♀️ The best trick I ever learned though for straightening out misshapen and squished hats it's to boil some water in a tea kettle over the stove, and once the steam starts coming out of the spout.... Hold the hat over the steam and reshape the hat with your fingers. A hat Milliner taught me that a few years ago... and I can't tell you how many vintage hats I've been able to save using that method. 🥰
That hem marker is worth its weight in gold!! I have had one for years (& still have it). I'm short & have to shorten everything. This marker means I don't have to guess at a hem or have to ask someone to pin a hem. If you cannot find chalk dust you can grind some chalk w/a mortar & pestle.
Laci, thank you for showing what it is like to be nicely dressed every day, just because😍. People use to do that every day....now one is thrilled folks show up at a wedding decently dressed....instead of a tank top! Love your channel💗! Rock on girl!
I love seeing your vintage shopping hauls! You're so lucky in the States. We don't really have much stuff like that here in the UK. I just wanted to add, my cats were glued to the screen every time Mr Johnny Cash was in shot, especially when he was chatting away - i think he should have his own TH-cam channel, i know my cats would subscribe! >^..^
Laura I'm glad to see you say that about your cats! I thought my cat Opie was just being weird lol. He was really interested in Mr. Cash. hahaha new TH-cam influencer?
We had one of those hem markers in our Home Ec sewing lab. It’s the only tool I know of that enables you to mark your own hem solo. I’m looking forward to seeing how it works for you. I’m pretty sure you can still purchase powdered chalk in larger fabric stores. There are few things that make a gal feel pretty than a silky, full length slip. Enjoy your lovely finds!
Yes! We had one in the costume shop of my university theatre. Our Draper used it in every fitting! Even though I was there to help, lol. You can definitely still get the powdered chalk! So useful! I’ll have to keep an eye out for one, myself!
There is powdered chalk that is used by quilters to mark their quilt design. Check the area with quilt supplies at JoAnnes or a quilting supply store. I have some.
My grandfather was a tailor and I remember the skirt marker. He hemmed quite a few of my skirts, trousers and dresses. He had a small retirement business on the side, and in the end had to start turning people away, he was that good! Your atomic kitty figurine brought back memories, my great grandmother had a few of them, much to my great grandfather’s dismay! Thank you for sharing your finds!
You got an Amazing deal on that Kitty! I love your style and all the treasures you share with us. My Mom was born in the 30’s so I remember all her treasures from the 50’s through the 80’s. I’ve collected a few things myself. I have some green glass and some colored glass ash trays. I don’t smoke I just like the way they look. I recently got my first pair of vintage inspired prescriptions glasses. I think my love of vintage things will continue for a long time. 🥰 I almost forgot. My Mom had 2 lady head vases and I was able to find one of them on eBay for $20. She has a few chips on her but otherwise in good shape. I remember her being bigger but as a kid I guess she looked bigger to me. She has a white hat on with pink flowers and a scarf with gold polka dots. I think of my Mom every time I look at her.
I’m So excited to see you back I couldn’t click on this video fast enough I really enjoy your content and I can appreciate wanting to live like the 1950s
Laci - Hello friend. I love the contented look on the kitty statue's face. I have never seen one of those lady head vases for Christmas. What a find. She's in perfect condition. The black hat is absolutely fabulous. Have a wonderful day. Blessings - Judith 🎭🎵
The hat does look very nice! Especially with that black dress you have on! This was lots of fun! Thank you for taking us vintage shopping with you! That Christmas lady bust is so cool! I don't think I've ever seen one just like her before and I love that she has the date on the back! 1957! How very cool! Love the large atomic kitty! Great finds!
Johnny Cash was cracking me up! And you will love the skirt marker-it is actually very useful in marking hems when you sew alone. I can’t wait to see your Christmas dress too. The head vase is stunning-I’ve only seen pictures of the Christmas ones! My favorite was the big kitty❤️😻
I love the tall cat 🐈 figurine, the blue/white dress 👗 looks lovely on you. Perhaps soaking the dress in baking soda and water may help, good luck! I recognized the dress hemming device, my friend had a a notions store. She also sells notions online & she also boils white clothing to make them bright white. JohnyCash 😅🤣😂.
The head vase! She's so perfect! I have a handful I bought when I was younger. You could find them at thrift stores then because they weren't yet collectible. Compared to prices I've seen online for Christmas head vases, she was a steal!
OMG! That yearbook was literally my mom's. We had an estate sale in St. George about two weeks ago. That is so funny to see it. BTW that high school is in Michigan City, Indiana.
I just knew you'd get the cat and the dress! Both are really pretty and very good buys! Hello to Johnny Cash! He seemed to say, "Mama, stop talking and just pet me!" LOL! And, your white cat with the peach markings - Emma? - is just gorgeous!
The item I like best is the light colored pattern dress for Spring. I love your hair blond! Thanks so much for your videos! I tend to like modern items rather than vintage, but you and your videos are so interesting and I love your cats!
love the 50 and 60 style..that spring dress looks like one my mom had ..back when we wore skirts and dresses to school..no jeans or shorts,,love your cats also..and i collect those ceramic christmas trees like i saw in one of your other videos..love it..
We have skirt chalk markers at work. They are very handy. Just remember to place the marker very close to the fabric in order to get a crisp, accurate line. Otherwise the line just looks like a puff of dust!
Thank you so much for bringing us along. Absolutely love going to antique stores. The lady head vase is incredible, so beautiful! You look adorable in your lovely new dress. ❤️
I saw so many wonderful things. I was hoping you would get that stunning lace hat, the adorable atomic kitty and the beautiful dress. That dress looks amazing on you but then again everything looks amazing on you. Give the fur babies cuddles for me and I can't wait for the next video.🙏❤️
My sister bought me a vintage lady head vase and I use it to store my makeup brushes on my vintage vanity. Love it so much. Thanks for taking us with u to look at all of these cool vintage things!
I have a skirt marker that was my mom's and possibly my grandmother's who was a seamstress. These are totally practical. I have a picture of my mom in the 50s wearing a Pendleton jacket. She had that same jacket into the 1980s
Long time no see. Loved the cute wittle lady head vase and your fun dresses. Kitties are also adorable as always. Can't wait to see your Christmas decor this year
You are so very inspirational. All of your videos give me so many ideas to improve my vintage collection!!! I absolutely love your style and your love for the 1950s 😊
Loved the Christmas lady head vase. I'm glad you took it. Never seen one like this before either! The cat statue 😻. The black pancake hat is so Dior New look, especially if worn tilted on the side.
I just love your haul! I had my eye on that Pendleton. I got the vision of driving around in a vintage "Woodie", picking out a Christmas tree on the lake. LOVED all of it, especially Johnnie Cash getting "comfortable" in your lap!! ✨💖👏😊
You found some very nice things! I love exploring antique malls and thrift shops, too. You look beautiful in everything and I can't wait to see you try the vintage skirt marker!
Out of all the antique runs I've been on, I've never seen a lady head vase before! That one you found is sooo pretty. I'm living vicariously through your antique hauls at this point 😆
Just found your lovely channel and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed all the binge watching that’s come from it. You look so darling in your adorning 50s/60s vintage style. Giving me strong Marylin Monroe vibes. I love seeing people dressing up like they’re traveling from certain eras like yourself, very cool. Thanks and keep doing your thing. :)
That hem marker should be very interesting to use! 😁 I hope it works. I love watching your interactions with your kitties; glad too that Johnny Cash has wandered no more. I admire your hair every video - the color and style suits you well, and makes you even prettier!❤️
Enjoyed this video. Love when you shop. Love the Lady head vase and the kitty. The clothes look amazing. Wonderful trip for the goodies. Thank you for sharing. Love from Texas 🤠❤❤❤
Love watching vintage shopping videos. You have so much choice and the prices are so reasonable. Here in Australia most antique stores and thrift shops are a bit expensive. And we don't have such a variety of lovely dresses.
The atomic kitty figurine was a steal at only $10! Google shows they're going for around $40-50 right now. She's beautiful and goes well with the smaller atomic kitty. 🤗
Your big atomic kitty and that last floral dress are my fave finds! I know my mom would love the Christmas lady head - her grandma collected them so I'm going to see if I can find one like it for her! Give Johnny Cash kisses from us!
That is a really nice haul! =D The black hat and dress go together marvelously, and I love the atomic kitty! I so have to track one down next time I am at a flea market or some place along those lines. The christmas lady was also really nice. Also, Johnny Cash is adorable! ♥
That Jackie Kennedy Mourning Head planter I had never seen before. There were little figures of Caroline and John John to compliment! Love the items you bought especially that beautiful slip. You look great in your vintage wardrobe. This was fun.
Lacy, I have the smaller Porcelain Kitty. After watching your videos last year I went for the hunt on ebay. Im happy to say you Inspired me. Love having beautiful this in My home.

Thanks so much! I found some good deals for sure.
1957 - my dad's year of high school graduation. I used to just obsess over his high school and college year books. They were fascinating to me!

Hi, Laci Fay! Thanks for the tour - it's all fascinating! (except I have no idea what a 70s pop art Parton is doing in an antique mall)

I’m absolutely in love with the blue and white dress. I have such a hard time with vintage sizes. Do you have a video to help with that?
Loving the hat - looks great on you! I knew you'd end up buying the tall cat. Nice haul. Always an adventure thrifting with you and informative too.
Glad you bought the vase . . . my favorite too. My Dad's Mom & my Mom had those types of vases. The black slip on you reminded me of Madonna in her early days! Thanks for sharing . . . enjoyed!👍💐
Oh yes! That’s awesome. I wonder if they saved them. Thanks so much!
Lady head vase definitely my favorite, thanks for sharing 😍😍
Great haul! Vintage slips are the best. Loved the white and blue dress. So cute.
Your cat is so cute! My favorite "find" is the last dress. The cut is very flattering on you. Show us that hem maker in action, Ha! Good job!
