Cool stuff man! I just recently bought the mx650 and have been looking for others who have modded this thing out and how to do it. Great video and lots of information. Thanks!
I know this video is a year old, but you can get brackets online to extend the swing arm so once you get the brackets you’ll have plenty of clearance without modifying the motor mount 👌🏽
one thing I noticed owning well over 20 mx500/mx650's is the wheels are not balanced and need to be tried in, some are better than others. I saw someone that had taken dirt bike rims and used the original hubs and new spokes. Looked great and rode smooth. Also had street tires.
This looks like the same tires I have on my Mx650..... I can't help but love the supermoto look and it rides SOOOOO much better. Edit: O no, don't try the tire levers... I broke mine trying to do that and I had to get tire spoons to change them, it's insanely difficult to do but the spoons helped, but what helped the most was a little bit of soapy water and I left the tire in the sun for about 20 minutes before installing. Edit 2: Should have stayed w/ the 16x3 in the front and 10x2.75 or 10x3 in the rear.... You have to consider that the tire expands at speed.
You are absolutely right. The tires are stiff and tire spoons are much more efficient. Also 10x3.0" MAX for the rear. I realized that too late, but this was simply just an experiment to find out what it would actually take to fit a tire this large. I get some rubbing on my motor casing due to tire expansion, but only if I go over 40+ MPH.
@@PatOutdoors - That's what I've been telling people too because I see a lot of expansion on the 10x3, I couldn't imagine a 10x3.5... That would scare me, I'd be afraid of it popping at speed because it rubbed on the motor or something. Still an informative video and I appreciate that you actually succeeded on doing that w/ bike tire levers... I had to order spoons and wait 3 days before I could ride because mine was being particularly difficult and I broke my levers. LoL
I recommend the 16x3 on the front and a 10x3.0 on the rear.... Its almost perfectly balanced and it rides like it's on rails, I'd like to have pit bike rims so I can fully trust the beads because 40+ mph starts to get scary when you remember you're on a "kids toy". 😁
Oh man Those Look GREAT. I bet you get a little better speed too. Burn out will shred tires and gravel will tear them up too. I really like that look :)
Hey friend, juat got the mmg front street tire on my razor from your recommendation. It looks clean. Went ahead and ordered the kenda 413 rear tire 3×10. Ordered inmer tunes from amazon but they are really small. Do i actually need a (3x12) inner tube?
Hey bro your abnormal tire wear is most likely due to low tire pressure.I have had my mx650 for 3 years plus with the same rear tire and I ride mine on road and off and I still have usable tread . Sometimes I ride it to work which is a 33 mile round trip.
I know this video is really old, but can you please help me I kind of need to know the link to the smaller back wheel and an innertube for it can you please help?
The link in ya bio for the front tire lmao the tire is huge the stock mx front wheel is 12 inch when wheel you have is for a 16 inch wheel so it not going to fit
90/90/10 is max size without doing any weird modifications. Again that's only for true supermoto this is not a supermoto if he has a 12" tire up front and 10 in the back lol a supermoto is same size rims front and back not just putting slicks on lol😂😂😂 I don't know why he got such a baby front tire too I wouldn't listen to this I have all the specs on TikTok
Not a recommendation. I just used a 10x3.5” for the rear as an experiment but had to do lots of modifications to make it work. Would not go larger than 10x3.0”. The front overall diameter is 16” yes, but designed to be fitted for a 12” rim. Though I recall using 2.6” width. Looks like the listing may have changed
Hey so I have the same rear street tire, but when I put the front street on, it went from 35mph to 30mph, then I tried the dirt tire on front and street on the back, and it went 31.5mph. Did your bike go slower than before when you put it on?
You add (1) 12V battery to add to the other (3) to wire in a series to make 48V. OR you can just install (1) 48V Lithium battery if you have the money. This bike is now 72V, if you want to check out the later videos
I followed the link and ordered 16 inch tires because that’s what you have under the links. My whole stock tire could fit inside there. I fucked up now. I have to return it. Can you change description with accurate for the stock front wheel? I think the 16 is too big way too big.
This was over 2 years ago and I've had the same link on there.. The seller may have changed what they'll selling recently, but the one I used IS a 16" (overall diameter) tire that's fitted for a 12" rim.
Hey brother Pat, just wondering if there’s anyway that I could give some height to this bike? I was planning on trying to see if a 14inch rear would work but, looks like clearance issues. And maybe a 16inch front. Lmk what can I do for more height. The back tire mod on this bike looks good.
Check out my later videos on the 72V Razor. I ended up installing a DNM 190mm Rear shock and Alter Ego fork, which raised the bike about 2.5" overall. You can't put a larger wheel on the rear without at least getting an extended swing arm fabricated. The stock fork will not fit a larger front wheel either. You can probably do a 14" front wheel with a pit bike fork though
@@JonahNAloha Unfortunately I have limited experience with those bikes besides overvolting the stock motor. I don't believe you can fit that wheelset size on that frame and fork. It would take a lot of fabrication and it may be easier to start with a larger bike if height is what you're looking for.
3.5 refers to width or diameter of tire? You were saying 3.5” was going to touch the motor (diameter) but then you kept talking about how wide they were I’m confused Sorry
10” is the inner diameter of the tire (size of the rim.) 3.5” is the with of the tire and adds towards the overall outer diameter of the tire. 2.5” width rear tire is approximately 1” overall diameter smaller than this one
Hey I’m just wondering if you had any problems with charger because mine will not work and I have the same set up as you, I am thinking about getting rid of it

Yes, these are the stock wheels. But I had to modify the motor mounts to be mounted further forward. I would stick with no larger than 3x10" rear tire if you don't want to do heavy modifications
@@PatOutdoors No it doesn't thanks for the info. I'll keep that in mind when upgrading to 48v. I was thinking doing 2.75 back 3 front because I was worried about the wheel touching the motor. Do you think that would be an issue?
Unfortunately yes, these wheels are not designed for a tubeless set up. Maybe they're able to be modified to run tubeless similar to mountain bike wheels, but I haven't seen people try yet.
You cannot, that’s why I had to slot the motor mounts to shift the motor forward on the fork. I do not recommend this tire size because it’s not worth it. I’d say stick woth 3x10” max

The last bit looked like a tough bit a work.. Geting tire clearance..
Which is why I don't recommend the size I went with. Simply did it to see what would need to be done to make it work.
Would it be a good tire setup to do 2.75 thickness in front and do 3.0 thickness in the rear or should I do 2.5 in the front and 3.0 in the back.
Could i just use any old 3x10 inner tube for the 3x10 tire?
As long as it’s for the same matching size, yes
