    I can't begin to thank you enough for this video. There are a ton of great MX650 modification videos out there that have plenty of detail in them that inspired me to get a 650 in the first place, but this is the first one that actual shows all the steps that other videos do off screen and then just tell you how to do. The fact that you actually showed how to recess the screws in the motor other than just saying you can do that, has been something I have been searching for and dreading to go in relatively blindly. That part is an absolute necessity that someone trying to become handy, like myself, needs to feel comfortable with potentially ruining their Razor lol. Thanks again for the guide and confidence boost. I can finally put the motor I have sitting around in my MX650 with some comfort.

      Thanks for taking the time to comment man, it’s people like you that inspire me to keep putting out videos. Let me know if you have any trouble putting that motor in the bike. They are a ton of fun once they go twice as fast.

      @@MarleyJaxGarage For sure I got it all hooked it up and it works...Just one question though I do not have a 3 speed and i have it jumped.I saw you said put it in the middle then high speed wire and i tried the left and right side.Would ether one of those sides be the high speed or will you also have to remove the middle also and just left and right only?Reason being i did test on both amd max speed i got was 22mph on flat.Thanks for the reply!

    • @MarleyJaxGarage
      @MarleyJaxGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would just take a piece of wire and strip the ends and poke them in the connector to test it. It should stay in place itself, but the best way is to put one end in the middle pin; get someone to lift the motor wheel and give it full throttle, while you touch the other end of the wire to the high-speed pin, so that you can see/hear the difference.

    They must wire up those switches different now in the throttle. Followed your instructions to the t but decided to go ahead and hard wire speed switch and volt meter on the throttle. I have 1 as medium 2 as fast and 3 as slow. It's all good though. It works and that's all that matters. I don't have a piece of wood to mount the controller on. I noticed if you place the heat sink inside the right hand side of the box that it fits nice and tight. Just wondering what i should do to mount it. Thinking about some sticky velcro, or drilling into the side of it and mounting it directly on to the case

    I'm confused with what you did with old powerport. What is the elock your referring to? Did you remove the stock power port. I did and I plan on keeping stock on/off switch. I planed to use the old power port hole to put new port that is attached to battery. I don't have use for that stock port and don't want to drill any unnecessary holes. Just trying to figure out what the elock is that your referring to. Sorry I'm new to all this and have the same set up you have.

    • @MarleyJaxGarage
      @MarleyJaxGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I used the stock on off switch to control the main power between the battery and the motor. The e-lock is used as a key or switch when there is power to the controller. If you do not want to wire it up simply connect the two e-lock wires together. I used the old charging port for the e-lock and then drilled a hole lower down where the charging port for the battery could stick through.

    Not working for us. bought the controller kit and the battery right from these links. Didn't do the three speed, that throttle with voltmeter, or the elock, just what came with the kit. It wasn't too difficult following your steps to hook it all up. Got it all wired up, turned on the switch - nothing. Then I took the switch out of the loop and wired the black/red from the battery straight into the controller - nothing. All we have connected are the brake wires, the blue, green, and yellow wires, the one pin connector that plugged straight in, the throttle, and the power. Any help would be appreciated in troubleshooting as there could be any number of things wrong (bad motor, bad controller, bad throttle). the controller is a black box, so no way to know what is going on inside, but if there is a way to troubleshoot that I'd love to hear. thanks

    • @MarleyJaxGarage
      @MarleyJaxGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You need to finish wiring it up. It will not work unless you wire the e lock together if your not going to use it. You will also need to wire two of the 3 speed wires together. You can look up schematics for these controllers and see exactly what they need to turn on.

  • @1koosharem

    So I am running into an issue I can't figure out. My motor is not powering on. Also my throttle voltage meter is not displaying anything. I have verified there is voltage up until the last connection going into the controller. It seems no power is coming out of the controller though. I would think it is a bad controller, but I already returned a controller and motor set due to this same problem.
    The only thing I can think of is some wiring issue. I can't add pictures so it is hard to show my setup. I have followed your instructions pretty closely. One thing I have noticed that is different is on my mx640 is the on/off switch is wired a bit different. This is the section coming from the battery to the switch in the side plastic and then to the controller box. This section includes the online fuse. There is a red and black wired but there is also a third smaller red wire. I am not sure what this is for.

    • @MarleyJaxGarage
      @MarleyJaxGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can send pictures to my email linked in the description if you want me to check it out. The little red wire on the side case is part of the old charging system. It provided voltage to the controller when it was being charged so you couldn’t drive it with the charger connected.

    • @1koosharem
      @1koosharem 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      So I took a half hour and read through all the comments below and I think I found my problem. I believe I have to wire my e-lock wires together to get the controller to turn on. I thought using the e-lock wiring was optional, but it seems like if you don't wire it to a switch, then you need to connect the wires together to keep the controller always in an "on" position. I am hoping this is the fix I was looking for.
      I am planning on using a 40 amp fuse too. My battery has a max continuous output of 40 amps but the Controller is only 34 amps. I know there is the potential of burning the controller box, but I am wondering about the wiring. It looks like the stock wiring for the switch..etc. is 10 gauge which is rated at 30 amps. Is there a high potential of melting the wire by using a 40 amp fuse instead of 30?
