raise your hand if you've ever found an amazing dress you instantly fell in love with, only to come to the realisation that it doesn't mesh with the boobsicles... **sad trumpet sounds**
Rachel, please, those dresses that were given to you for free were not for free, they were for exposure and that is a paying method. You can sell them for money or don't but don't feel bad for selling them for actual money ❤
she made the company a lot more money by promoting their product than they spent sending her an item of clothing! She totally has the right to sell them - if anything she's promoting the company even more by having someone else wear it
Maybe do a "wearing clothes I never have occasion to wear for a week" vlog? See if wearing things like the Christmas formal nightgown while you work changes your mood, or if at the end of the week you think the clothes are more versatile than you initially thought?
Hi guys!!! Just a heads up, there's no link to purchase yet, I may have uploaded this a bit prematurely but I was too eager 😂 I still have to clean/iron/measure/photograph/etc before I put them up for sale! I'll definitely let everyone know once it's up and running though so no worries!
I have an 'I'm not sure' pile too when I sort mine out. I had to be ruthless and stop using that pile as far to many of my clothes were going back into my keep pile 😅 . The worst thing for me was keeping stuff that I didn't want but that my husband did want to see me in. I've made it clear that those items will be going in his wardrobe 😆😆👌
hi hello yes, for all of those who are (still) virtually shouting that my bra is not the right size: I trashed this one and got a new one after reading that every other comment said it was the wrong size. So THANK YOU but it's taken care of 😂😂🙏
Those "free"clothes weren't free. They bartered them for advertising with you. Sell 'em. They're yours. And don't feel bad about give aways that are just in your size. People who want them will enter and people who don't, won't.
This was super fun to watch! And my thought on the PR items, as a blogger who exchanges product for social media mentions: you worked for those things. You spent time creating posts or videos or whatever it is you did, and it is OK to sell them. You would not take on any other job and spend a ew hours working on that job and then... not be paid for it or not be allowed to earn money from it? Just maybe a different perspective! But I don’t get paid for mentioning companies or writing blog posts about gifted items, so that changes things. (I often approach companies because I believe in them and want to work with them, not for money)
Good gracious, KEEP THE RED DRESS! It looks beautiful on you. You look like a femme fatale! Even if you only wear it for photoshoots, it's worth keeping. (In my opinion- no pressure!)
Reading Dutch as an English native speaker feels like having a stroke because I can almost understand most of it and then it just jumps off the cliff into incomprehensible.
I was/am doing the same, but the shipping costs from US to NL are ridiculous. Unless she's able to send via USPS International Mail in an envelope... in that you're allowed to send something that is like 400gr I think. About the weight of a cotton swingdress. And on top of that I'm only able to buy anything if she'll send it with the gift box checked on the duty form, as a private person and the amount written down kept around 20 dollars... or I'll pay an even more ridiculous amount of money on taxes, duty and handling fees! My country has super strict import rules. But that red polkadot dress and the one she got for the actress scream my name...if they even fit me (the red looks my size, but the other one seems quite tight. I think I'm Rachel's size, though my arms are probably chubbier).
You can sell vintage on poshmark and the shipping is already figured for the buyer and all you have to do is print the label and put it on your package. It doesn’t matter how much the package weighs or what size, it has like a standard figured label. Hope that helps with your concerns about shipping items and people buying them from you.
I'm pretty sure poshmark is only US shipping tho womp womppp 😭 Also if I sell them independently I don't have to "split" the profits with a third party, allowing me to keep them nice and cheap!
I LOVE the outfit you are wearing and I also really love that it isn't all "authentic" vintage! I am a plus size gal- vintage clothes that fit me are limited and getting vintage reproductions can get SUPER expensive. Knowing that you (my vintage icon and spirit animal) can make a target shirt and amazon suspenders look vintage AF gives me hope. :) Love this video and love you!
First off good for you, because I've had a pile for almost 5 years. A few months ago I just say screw it and donated it all, didnt bother with selling any of it 🖤
Thank you for wanting to keep everything affordable once you do sell them! As a very broke college student who is in love with vintage clothes, it's incredibly hard to find anything in my price range. Sometimes I get some good stuff thrifting, but even places like Etsy can be ridiculously expensive! So thanks for wanting to do that, it means a lot to us.
Hi! The floral dress is very good. The coral-colored dress is also pretty. Tiny checkered bib pants are cool. I really like the red dress. The reddish-brown skirt is pretty.
It is very comforting for me to see someone I look up to style wise struggling with the same issues I do. The "I'm so excited to buy and wear this" but actually just stuff it in the closet and forget about it... or realize that what I bought isn't my style anymore ... thank you for your videos, they make me incredibly happy
I've been binging your videos.... And I don't have any friends because I am housebound. I haven't laughed in forever, and with your videos, I find my self smiling the whole video and busting out laughing. Also is your dog part Aussie? His hair style and body type remind me so much of my Aussie mix that passed away at 17 years old. I deeply enjoy seeing him pop up in the videos. Lastly your body is gorgeous and your video on hip dips has made me love my body a bit more, I have despised my body for a while, due to my medical issues I get so frustrated with swelling and other junk that comes with a broken bod. But that video made me feel so good inside. Thank you for being genuine and kind. And thanks for making me feel like I have a friend. Thank you.
the black and white trousers with self suspender straps are so cute, keep them! They flatter you and give you a more slender effect by elongating from the waist. Love it
I, too, try things on I don't want anymore. Usually I have someone with me going through things and its done for a laugh. Sometimes it's to make sure it's really something I don't want.
I really appreciate your candor in this video. It's, at least for me, why I subscribed to your channel. Not just for style inspiration or make up/hair tips, though I do love those, but because your warmth and personality makes me happy when I watch.
Every woman can relate...holding on to that cute dress/top/shoes even knowing that they don't fit, but in hopes that one day - ONE DAY they will. It was fun watching your thought process, cuz I've done and said the exact same thing.
I remember seeing some of those items from past posts and videos. You have defintely developed your style and knows what suits your figure. Thank you for putting yourself out there! You have helped me be more confident in my own body and style.
I love the whole outfit you wear in the beginning, first I was just like, omg that skirt, I need to make something similar, and then the shirt and just, yes, your whole outfit is on point. I love how you dress vintage but in earth tones because I gravitate more towards those and you don't really see someone who dresses vintage just keeping it more natural instead of bright flower patterns.
This is a really interesting video for me because when I want to get rid of things from my closet, it's usually because they've gone out of fashion. It's made me think less about whether something is trendy or not, and more about if I like it on me or not, when trying to decide what to donate. I'd love to watch more videos like this! You're doing a great work with this channel!
Great video! I have found that this works: put really nice wood hangers (IKEA ones are great) in your closet, how ever many fill it nicely. I even added the 3M grips strips so nothing falls off! Don’t forget the necessary amount of skirt hangers. And that’s it. You can fill them up. But when they are full, it’s one new in and one old out. It’s much less tempting to buy when you know something else must go.
Omg the black and white overalls are everything!! The red nightgown dress is beautiful. It's normal to want to change up your fashion. You grow up and your style changes. Good luck!
I’m almost never on TH-cam but I find myself checking in for your video much more often now. Absolutely love your channel, thanks for sharing your love of vintage.
Absolutely love closet purge videos. Watch the Closet Historians video awhile back and it was so inspiring! I have my sell like waiting in my closet... so many pretty things!
Oh my gosh, your comment about those tiny zippers made me so happy. As a seamstress, I despise them sooo much. Sure, they look great when they are all zipped up, but they are so easy to destroy. In other news, I wanted to sew a vintage style skirt today but I wasn't sure exactly what style. This video is definitely inspiring me, thank you for the perfect timing, haha
Rachel, you are a beautiful human being. Remember to love yourself! You have a good platform for body positivity so please don't hate on your body or call yourself "lazy" or "weird". I love your channel and think you are doing great things!
Oh my gosh Rachel I loved this video so much. I love your humor it is the best. I love all your videos I can't really name a favorite and that's one of the many reasons why I love you and your channel because your true personality is in every single one of them. Give my love to Frodo and Binks.
Girl. You need to keep the long red gown! ❤❤❤ And don't feel guilty about selling stuff. You exchanged work for those products and your work provided value.
Okay, I'm convinced. I didn't think watching a person try on clothing would be interesting at all, but you're right - weirdly entertaining. I'd love a part 2!
Rachel, you are easily my favorite you tuber to watch while I sew (so much inspiration!) I also want that red dress so much! I’m queen of the overdressed, would happily wear it to work in coffee shops ;D I’ll also jump in on the “don’t feel bad for selling items given to you” they were payment for PR, plus listing and shipping things is still work for you!
I really like videos like this. It’s satisfying to see someone pare down their belongings. But sidenote... I think you’re wearing the wrong size bra :/
raise your hand if you've ever found an amazing dress you instantly fell in love with, only to come to the realisation that it doesn't mesh with the boobsicles... **sad trumpet sounds**
🙋🙋🙋🙋 personally victimized by my own chest
Literally the majority of vintage dresses I try on 😩
nope,mine are small
try to change the bra ;)
Mine are too small for most dresses haha
Rachel, please, those dresses that were given to you for free were not for free, they were for exposure and that is a paying method. You can sell them for money or don't but don't feel bad for selling them for actual money ❤
I was about to comment the exact same thing, Rachel "paid" for them by making the posts where they were featured, so it's totally fine to sell them ♥
They could be a free w/ purchase kinda thing.
Not to mention the cost of time to prep/post/ship. I also think selling is completely appropriate.
she made the company a lot more money by promoting their product than they spent sending her an item of clothing! She totally has the right to sell them - if anything she's promoting the company even more by having someone else wear it
I 100% agree!
There is nothing wrong with selling the items you were sent for review, you were given them as a payment for media work.
Agree! No shame in selling your "salary!"
I'm not sure she'd be allowed to sell them for profit, depending on her country's laws. She could always sell them for charity, though.
Maybe do a "wearing clothes I never have occasion to wear for a week" vlog? See if wearing things like the Christmas formal nightgown while you work changes your mood, or if at the end of the week you think the clothes are more versatile than you initially thought?
I know this comment is old but this is SUCH a good idea for anyone
Save the red one, wear it at home, be beautiful.
Michelle Cornum Yaaassss!!! That dress is everything!
Definitely, that dress is giving of such Ginger Roger's vibes
A leisure gown, yes! :D

I love making modifications on my clothes. Some need to be left alone though too lol.
Desperately waiting because all of those skirts are calling my name!
1. I want to support you.
2. I want your clothes. Haha.
Please let us know when you'll post the links for purchase. So many dips. Haha

Lol absolutely perfect lol

Those "free"clothes weren't free. They bartered them for advertising with you. Sell 'em. They're yours. And don't feel bad about give aways that are just in your size. People who want them will enter and people who don't, won't.

Hercules pecs is such a good term for that! I've been calling it boob cubes 😂
Hahahaha also a great term! 😂❤️
Boob cubes! Omg 😂
Omg, that made me snort! Boob cubes!
Pancake boob is what I say.
Rachel: "Who IS she???" *aggressively flaps gown*
I actually cackled like a madwoman. That was so funny lol

At 1:50 when Frodo is like 'wat was dat mama', that's actually perfect Dutch for 'what was that'. So well done to you :D
SilkeH6 oh my god i didn’t believe you but then i went on google translate and it’s actually true wtf is your language XD
Luna Ne its dutch, sadly.
Alisa van der Tang why sadly? Nothing wrong with speaking Dutch 🇳🇱

The 1930s dress is GORGEOUS OMG and the long red one makes you look like Satine in Moulin Rouge ❤️ please make another one of these videos!!

The way she said that reminded me of The Marvelous Mrs. Masiel.

I agree 🙈🙈❤️❤️ Darn those flowy skirts always getting me! 😂
I think it was too boxy! Made her look bigger.
@@rachelmaksy You would look amazing in a pencil skirt that was a bit shorter with a peplum top too. Very 40's secretary.
7:42 reminds me of that one vine: “hey do you like my new dress? SIKE, ITS A JUMPSUIT YOU WERE FOOLED, HA HA HA!”
Rachel: Pencil skirts accentuate my weird body.

The red dress looks stunning on you sweetie😍
I nearly died during your red dress try on when you said “who IS she?”
