Hyeeelllooo!! As you might have noticed, I am on a massive Declutter Spree (band name, called it) lately and I felt like it was time for another closet PURGEEEE. The last time I did one of these was over a YEAR ago, can you believe that? These clothes were due for a chuckin', I'd say. I was much more strict on myself this time around, and ended up getting rid of a LOT of vintage. Well, you'll see, hehe.

They are so lucky to have each other!! He supports her in all her endeavors, and is there to bounce ideas off of, and you can tell she really loves him for it. She is creative and exciting which keeps him on his toes as to never be bored. I will still be watching her channel when they are old farts.
Side note: I really wish she didn’t take the negative comments to heart. Seeing Sad Rachel makes me sad, and she doesn’t need to change a damn thing. It’s her channel! Okay. I'm a exec. assistant and literally organize people for a living. Whenever we get these types of videos from Rachel I have the strongest urge to jump on a plane and go help. It's my jam. I couldn't do half the creative stuff Rachel does (mural of dreams in the bedroom? 😭) but I could organize the crap out of the emails, professional calendar, and finally this closet. There. I've said it. Now I can go back to enjoying her lovely personality which is like 💯 why I'm here (content? No. I'm here for the almost bff hang out time. Lol).

Rachel, you need some thin roller blinds or fabric roller blinds for your windows. Not only will it prevent the outside world from seeing your scantily antics but it will also provide even lighting. They are also cheap and easy to install and you can get them cut to fit your windows. The brackets are small and you can remove the blinds pretty easily if you don't want them to stay in your windows all the time.
The day I hung up my cheap Ikea netting blinds I danced around my loungeroom in my undies and it was a great day. 10/10 recommend
That will effect the lighting tho.
She would have to put up artificial lights and natural lighting is always the most flattering.
You could also try sheers. That's what I put on my windows for privacy.

@@katerrinah5442 Not necessarily! I have thin white IKEA blinds (the kind that just attach to the ceiling with adhesive) and it's basically daylight, except maybe not quite as intense.

Yup. I have a dress that was *rather expensive*, even bought half price, that I've worn for exactly 45 minutes.
I bought a vintage evening dress for prom that I knew I didn't want to go to and now it chills in the basement never worn.
Wear The Dress! I have a satin bridesmaids dress, it was bespoke, I wear it when I need to just be Extraaaaaaa. Highly recommended.

What is awful are the influences who are using everything from shape wear to Photoshop to look better and not be transparent about it, which can really mess with the self esteem of people!

YES. I fully agree that it’s ok to wear and that it’s ok to talk about. But mentioning it in such a casual way that I barely registered it is what we need more of. Everyone has enough insecurities without us all piling unrealistic expectations upon ourselves and each other. I’d like this comment a million times if I could!
re: the evening gowns--clearly the answer is to find someone who regularly plans fancy parties or plan at least 2 fancy parties yourself this year, once everyone's vaccinated?
I keep wanting to have a tea party--no one does tea parties anymore--but I think they'd be really nice during good weather, and tiny foods would be fun and amazing.

For the clothes that I only wear occasionally (but still really love and cannot part with) like fancy dresses, vacation/beach clothes, etc, I keep them in vacuum-sealed bags and put them in a faux-antique chest ('cause real antique chests cost too dang much, lol) that doubles as a end-of-the-bed-table (there's a word for this, I'm sure) in my bedroom. That way I don't have to buy a new dress every time there's some type of Fancy Function™ or a vacation (what are those again?), but I also don't have all my fancy-clothes taking up space in my closet all the dang time.

yea if my brother invites me and the family over for casual chinese, im pulling out my skirts and dresses and going all out. Its an excuse to wear all the cute shit i never get a chance to wear when im hermitting at home in a sleep tshirt and loose joggers.
I wish I was bold enough to wear my style out and about. I like things that veer heavily into costume-y, but I don't like to stick out, so...quite the conundrum.

Hi! I'm an opera singer, and I have an Extraordinarily Glamourous Evening Gown Hoarding problem, too! I justify this problem, of course, by saying I'll wear them in concerts and recitals... but it's lockdown and I DON'T.

My late mother-in-law had the best closet organize hack ever. Every New Yesrs Day, she’d go thru her closet and turn all of her hangers backward. (Where the opening of the hook was facing out.) Then throughout the year, as she’d wear and wash her clothes, she hang them normally. (Where the opening of the was facing the wall.). Then the following New Years Day, she’d take all of the clothes that the hangers were still facing out and donate them. Then she’d start all the way over.
When you brought out the brown gingham dresses and told the Etsy story, I thought to myself, “time to look for a gingham dress on Etsy after I finish this video.” I, too, need all technology removed from my presence to keep me from impulse buying retro/vintage garments.

If you have not seen it already, it was a show produced in Britain in the 1970s based on a series of books about being a veterinarian in the 1940s English Countryside....It's a wonderful show with a sprightly opening song.....but the costuming is so gorgeous that your bank account will scream in terror because of your shopping.

I try my hardest to be a minimalist, while also being obsessed with wa lolita, Gisbon Girl, New Look and modern hanbok fashion. I have more petticoats than most women have skirts. I am trying my absolute hardest to streamline everything I own under the absolute mandate that if the piece doesn't pair with ATLEAST 3 other things, it just doesn't fit enough to keep. I can say with pride that I've had the same swimsuit for, like, 6 years, because that's a very rare activity for me.

I grew up in a hoarding house, so I learned real quick that if I want something new I have to get rid of something old. So I always take at least one bag to donation every time I plan to go shopping so that there is room in my closet and I don’t feel like a hoarder. You did great though! It takes some time to get used to getting rid of things you never wear.

And magnesium! I get plenty of potassium, but when I started taking magnesium, the foot cramps went away!
Yes! I usually don’t comment on TH-cam videos but I had to say something. Magnesium also helps with muscle cramping.
If you get up and walk on it, the cramping charley horse goes away faster. Just gingerly ease the foot down flat and take a few steps. Sounds insane, but it really does work.
I get them if I don't drink enough water and get enough calcium. The calf ones when you stretch are killer.
I'm extremely guilty of having stuff 'just in case'. But it has actually paid off once or twice. Like when I got invited last minute to my sister's friend's wedding and I already had a dress. Or when for a when my sister needed to borrow a purse for some function or other. So the problem continues.
I feel like it’s almost worse if you had something Just In Case once because now you use that to justify more purchases.
I like to think of it as being resource-full or a maximalist. It has bailed me/my friends out many times like when my child is suddenly remembering at 10pm they need a costume for Medieval day at school the next day or you are invited to a dress up glam costume Oscar party that a fun friend throws together at the last minute. I am Always Prepared.

I feel this whole thing so much! Especially the evening wear hoarding
Rachel I think you're prone to slipped ribs, from the sound of it. ( Painful stabbing, sometimes hard to breath or move or shift my weight or lean, depending on which rib dislocated) . I too am very busty, and it happens to me all the time. I also have sciatica in my hips that gets aggravated when I am cutting out sewing projects on the floor. My toes on my right foot also do that kanips spasm thing when I stretch them in the morning, and when I am swimming in cold water.
I need to do this with my clothes. As a plus size woman I have to stop getting sucked in to buying outfits based on the item being modelled on a smaller woman- they just don’t look the same on my chubby hobbit frame! 🧙🏻♀️🧝🏻♀️

Another chubby hobbit here! I covet plus size maxi skirts because they flow nicely, touch my toes and with the right top even make me look taller.
That "Belle" dress with the flowers would make a cute apron.... I feel like if you didn't already have a giant fabric stash, some of these items you should have another pile for fabric/project material
With every dress she liked but didn't fit her, I thought "well you can fix it!"... Then I look at my sewing nook with piles of clothes waiting to be "fixed"😅

I also learned how to snap incorrectly with my ring finger, but in my defense, my dad taught me to snap when I was 18 months old. 😂 Imagine a really imperious, Italian toddler snapping at you to light a fire under it and get a move on. That’s my childhood. 😆

Despite rarely leaving my house, I see no problem with owning 70 evening dresses. Do I wear them? Not really. Do I love them? Absolutely. I need something to go with my 60 different pairs of shoes.
Also, I would die if Rachel had a depop.

Anyway, depop is an app where you can thrift online from independent sellers. It's set up like instagram, so it's really easy to see things you like, and follow your favorite sellers. You can even get housewares.

Every time Rachel talks about hiding from her neighbors looking in her windows I think “Girl you need curtains.”
Keep the fancy stuff and wear them to parties/theatre (when stuff starts happening again) and you'll always be the most glamourous person there and everyone will be jealous of you.
