Thank you for this video. I have two identical pairs of ECCO slip-on shoes both with cracked soles. I went to a highly-rated shoe repair yesterday (Cincinnati Ohio) and they quoted $85-90 to do one pair of shoes. He explained the process which sounded much the same as the process you just did. Watching you, now I understand why it is so expensive to have done. I'm afraid after it is done the shoes won't feel the same and these are the most comfortable shoes I have ever owned (I'm 74 yrs old) I didn't leave them, I decided maybe it is best to put the money towards a new pair of another brand. I really appreciate you taking the time to show the process.
I had a pair of slip-on Eccos that recently and suddenly lost 1/2 of one heel leaving a trail of black rubber-looking particles. I'd had them for going on 10 years, so way out of normal warranty, but hardly ever wore them, maybe 30 times max. In recognition of the significant failure, Ecco sent me a very decent discount code for a new pair which I would hope don't have the deterioration problem. The old ones were very comfortable so I was otherwise happy with them and Ecco didn't fool around with any "oh, that's out of warranty" foolishness, just promptly sent what I felt was a fair settlement coupon. Hope the new ones feel as good as the old ones and thanks to Ecoo for the good customer service.
Ecco makes the most comfortable golf shoes in the industry bar none. I could walk 72 holes and feel like i walked from ny car to the proshop only. I've never had their dress/casual shoes.
Yea Rick we use contact cement is it’s generic name but various companies manufacture it with different names but our shop uses Renia Colle De Cologne all purpose cement .. you can purchase it online also there are containers and brushes to apply it with Atco glue pot is a company that comes to mind ... often times a primer is required before applying the all purpose Renia depending on the materials shoe bottoms are made of ... Renia makes two types we call green and yellow primer ... there are shoe repair supply companies near you simply call them to get further info. ...
Is there any way to prevent the dry rot of these soles? Every pair of my Eccos has had this problem, as have some other shoes Ive bought. It's embarrassing to have your shoes disintegrate while you're wearing them.
What's a reasonable price to be charged for this type of job in USD? Also, would it be possible to shave the sole closer to the upper? Thanks for taking my question! Awesome video
It may be worth it sometimes - someone has "invested" a lot of time and effort to shape these shoes to their feet. They probably fit him like a glove, so for him these are the comfiest soes in the world.
Thursday Boot company are right at 200 and are great. You can also find some great shoes right now on sale like cobbler union, AE and grant stone some for under $200 on sale
Interesting to see. The super glue is probably cyano acrylate, and not good for health. Isnt it Bisphenol A causing hormone-disturbance for humans exposed to it...?
… it’s called a shoe repair last …. It’s metal and is detachable from the metal jack stand so the repair person can use different sized repair lasts ( men’s , women’s ,kids , boots , and shoes ) that fit appropriately while working to repair the footwear.

I like ECCO shoes. Nice to see they can be resolved.
Once again learned something new.
I always feel better having learned something but am also again reminded how hopelessly unknowledgeable I am.
Great job! Love this video!
I walked with my Eccos until soles became see-through. I really liked how comfortable they were.
Thank you for changing the music

As usual, Nice to Watch your work.
great video I like all of what you do. If those eccos were all leather uppers, it might be worth investing in them.
Curious how much did this cost? Do people ship shoes to you to fix? You are amazing!
What kind of knife is that black-handled one? With the curved, apparently-blunt blade?
The original polyurethane soles were dreadful. Great job on the re-soling.
Could you talk a little about the glue cobblers use. What is it ? How does the glue work?

Wow! If I owned those, I would have tossed them out, just like I have done with several other pairs of cemented soles that had dry rotted.
Good morning Alan and y’all, hope you charge extra for danger pay

What's the name of the metal post where you place the shoe upside-down?
