  • In this video we will be doing work on a pair of Danner boots that have a turn welt. We will replace the heel counter on the inside that is damaged as well as replace the midsole that is usually not done on a turn welt after that adding a Vibram Cristy Sole and a Vibram Sierra Sole over top for our very popular Vibram Double sole option.

    In 1987 , I had a pair of Danner Go- Devil Boots . I was in the Army 6 years , those boots were the best equipment an Infantryman could own . Warm , waterproof, durable, great traction , supportive . I could run through mud & snow . Vibram, Thinsulate and Goretex . What more could you ask for .

    In 2004-05 my buddy was issued this same boot.
    The Danner Acadia’s.
    I bought my first pair around the same time on Paris Island while visiting him.
    I been wearing them ever since.
    Never thought of Having them re-soles. That’s really the only thing that ever wears out on mine. The leather upper is still in great condition and broken in to me.
    I usually just throw them away and buy a new pair but now you got me rethinking things.
    Good job!
    Now I just have to find someone here in the NE that has as much experience doing this as you so they are done correctly

    • @JohnDoe-df2zz
      @JohnDoe-df2zz 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well the idea is that the softer soles used as the midsoles wear out quickly, so you stick the vibram lugged rubber sole over the top to make it wear much longer, and give better traction. I've had similar boots that I've been wearing for 17 years now with one resole. So your argument is false and not very well thought out. Better to buy a pair and have them resoled, then buy disposable boots that you replace annually. Also if you listen to what he said several times in the video- the softer sole isn't normally replaced during a resole, the vibram rubber sole can be removed and replaced leaving the midsole in place.

    • @peterv1318
      @peterv1318 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JohnDoe-df2zz - the question is how many times a year do you ware the boots that are 17 years old? People who work everyday in their boots mostly the boots don’t last more than 2 years.

    • @tts626
      @tts626 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The only thing that was wasted was a little thread, glue, and some rubber. Putting the two soles on like that is part of the original design and allows the the entire boot to last longer, be resoled more easily next time, and the person KEEPS it rather than tossing it out. I bet you buy cheap crap made in China anyway.
