The woman smoking a cigarette and drinking coffee reminded me of my mom. She never looked as perky at the breakfast table, but sat with us as we ate our cereal before school. She’d work her crossword puzzle. Oh, those were the simple days of Cream of Wheat and second-hand smoke. I miss you Ma.
OMG, those mags are so pristine! Imagine that they are almost 100 years old. I make and abandon junk journals so was salivating at the sight of that old paper. Good job, as usual, Rosie.
Omg! Glad to see you bad. This is the only weekly episode I watch of anything. I always enjoy the ads in the old magazines and find myself asking if that advertisement would be legal today. Keep doing this, you’re a modern day Dali
Oh boy a video from rosey!! Great ideas. I love the lady the most. You have the best ideas just out of the blue. I'd love to spend just one day in your head. Lol
Wow great collages and great find with the super old Life magazines! They look like they are in excellent condition too. Can't wait to see what other collages you can find in them!
Very cool images in those mags, loved all your 3 collages, I think the dinosaurs were fun adding the second Dino really made the story... Great fun 😁😁💕🌼
Great video. I really like hearing you speak to the process. Often when you express your thoughts, misgivings, ideas, it helps to understand the finished image and why it works. I really like your design eye as well. I like to work conceptually on collages (to work out the madness of the world) so I find your approach refreshing, interesting and lots of food for thought about scale, composition, colour palette, surrealism and playfulness. Thanks so much!
I love what you've done with this old mag, Rosie! I especially love the piece with the dinos. Thanks for sharing this awesome vintage collection. Can't wait to see more pieces come out of this magazine :)
You always have such a wonderful eye for composition! Great and fun, always! I love the images and the scale of many of the vintage Life and Look magazine images. I scored 25 vintage Look and Life magazines at my local thrift shop for only $1.25 each! I gratefully grabbed them up and am having such a fun time collating with them! Thanks for sharing, Kathleen
I will always be amazed how you use scissors… your skills with them are unparalleled! I’m a lefty so maybe that’s why I struggle😂 I always just use an Xacto knife for cutting out stuff for collages
I like your work very much!! And your pronunciation is beautiful, so it helps me to generate English subtitles easily.Because I'm Japanese and my English is not good. Very much looking forward to next week's video! thank you!
The flower book is called A Year of Flowers by Peter Loewer, but it really doesn't have that many photos in it so I wouldn't really recommend it. There are so many other great flower books out there!
The way the dinosaur's "hands" are it looks like he's holding the bottle (or something). All 3 collages are cool.... I think the boys reading the magazine one is my favourite. =)
Hi Rosie. Missed you last week. I have a question about your gluing process. Maybe you don’t have this issue but if you accidentally get glue on your images, how do you remove that glue? Thanks!
This is a tough one! If it's a glossy paper sometimes it will wipe off easily, but most of the time I just let it be and hope it dries clear. I don't mind the messy look because it makes it feel more handmade :)
Every time you pull out that #shroombook I get so excited 😆 Do you mind me asking the name of it? Thank you for all your inspirations - your graphic design skills nail it! Keep ‘em coming 👏🏼
Very very beautiful and very cool
I love this. I mainly use vintage photos and looking for new ideas
All three are great! The boys in the flower bed ❤️

This was so fun! And I too appreciate nice spoons. 😂
How much fun was that!!! Looking forward to next time.
Its amazing the great shape they are in
I see them all the time at our recycling centre...but I'm wary picking up old magazines. Bed bugs are a real issue in my area.

Looooove how the first one came out.. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

I’m watching from Italy and just scored a whole box of magazines from 1936-56! Great ads. What do you do with all of your collages?
You do an amazing job balancing all of your collages ❤️❤️
Great works! The black and white really add interest. Please use the other magazine, too. So much fun watching, thanks.🍺🐉✂️😉
Hi! New Subscriber 😊 So creative...awesome images
Love them all, as usual!! 🤩

Very much looking forward to next week's video!

I would have used the bottle cap as a hat for one of them lol 😂
Hahah this is a great idea!
No, I think it's perfect as is
Very good video - a lot of help to see your thought process…pls show book covers- I’d love to see the front of the flower book!!! Thanks so much.

@@eastofhoney thank you so much for your answer and advice. I love your work.
These are all great. Can I ask what you do for a living? Is it something where you use your degree I believe you mentioned some kind of art???
I'm a graphic designer!

My favorite too!

As a historian and lover of antique paper media , it hurts my heart to see you cut up those magazines as they are time capsules into a long gone era.
Where did you find 1940 magazines?
I luhv it !
Every time you pull out that #shroombook I get so excited 😆 Do you mind me asking the name of it? Thank you for all your inspirations - your graphic design skills nail it! Keep ‘em coming 👏🏼
I was going to ask if you ever felt weird cutting up antique magazines, but clearly someone beat you to it.
🤩🤩🤩
👏👏👏👏💜
Lol I love it
