Yo big d can you do a amp dyno on the Taramps MD 3000.1 2ohm. I know you did the Taramps HD 3000.1 I'm curious what the MD does compared to the old HD. TARAMPS CHANNEL only does the certified results and doesn't say what the efficiency is
Every time you show a magazine, it takes me back. I used to buy every car audio magazine I could. I used to especially love the buyers guides. I would just read everything and memorize specs and pricing. Shortly after I graduated high school I got a job selling car audio because no one knew the product like I did.
Everytime you flip thru and bring up a page from Car Audio and Electronics for a Vintage amp I always clamor at wanting to have my own copy of it haha. Doing the lords work, excited to see the results!
I did this with about ten years' worth of digital video and computer magazines a while back, using a ScanSnap ix500. (I took the magazines to the local Staples to get them "chopped" - they'll do it for a fee if you don't want to buy the cutter yourself.) The main thing to watch out for is sticky pages, which will cause it to twist in the scanner, resulting in the distortion you see at the bottom of your cover page. Also, you have to be really fussy about keeping the scanner sensor clean. A tiny speck of dust in there will result in a vertical streak of light running down the scanned image. One of those rocket-shaped air puffers that photographers use for their negatives works well. Other than that, you can scan in a crazy amount of magazines in a short amount of time using one of these things. They're pretty amazing.
@@CantankerousDave Excellent info, thanks! How much did Staples charge you to cut bindings? (I ask because it's the type of thing/service some uninformed Staples employees TELL you that they just don't offer, or SAY they don't have the equipment for - or sone locations might actually not have the equipment for, - or they make up a potentially higher price, since it's not on their pricing list, or because they're not aware of what the service is called, etc...
Nice job - great attention to detail! Thanks for taking the time to preserve this information, it's fun to go back and look at the ads for things I remember when I was just starting out in car audio (93 or so).
Cant wait for this to be done, I've been looking for an issue from back in 92-93 not sure of the month but it had a black GMC Typhoon that was built by Ron Anderson for a guy named (I believe) Grant. The shop I worked for back then my boss built it and I got to help with a few small things, the rig went onto win an IASCA final. it had 15" compound loaded subs in a custom box that looked like the spare tire and the grill was machined to look like one of the factory wheels. Love what your doing thanks
I'm currently visiting my mom and going through all of my childhood/teen stuff and I found all of my old comics, boys life and starlog magazines. Including all my tv recordings on VHS. My big summer project is to digitally transfer these and make these available on Internet archive
Doing fantastic work there Mate. Also, big chops for doing all this on a laptop rather than a desktop. As someone who used to buy these back in the late 80's onwards. I wish I would've kept them. As well at the Aussie magazines that came out.
Hey Derek, I really enjoy watching your channel, I had kind of a cool idea I was hoping you'd like. It's along the lines of the cheapest spl challenge but go as small as you can. Smallest car subs, smallest amp, loudest dB.
Great vid, thanks! What are the considerations/adjustments re the scans pertaining to compression (to keep file sizes down but quality high, like for zooming in clearly) and color/sharpness? Do you make any other changes before you "approve" and finalize the scan as finished?
Back in time i had some of this magazine....they were rarely in germany....I kept them for twenty years... I gave them away almost 10 years ago... 🤷♂️ Today, i am a little sad....🫣😔 But your vids making me fine👌 Thumb up from the Heart👍
Dereck I really hope this works out for you to share to the community. Growing up we were very poor so I was unable to buy these. Thank you so much bro
I'm planning to do something similar and this video is super helpful, thanks! Just curious, what size are the magazine pages you're scanning? Do you know if the ix1600 would scan pages that are 11.75" long by 9.25" wide?
What issue are you missing or looking for. I am recently moving and you wouldn't believe the collection that I have. There's magazines I forgot I used to collect. I hate looking like a hoarder but I know these are valuable to somebody.
1988-89, 2005-2008 Car Audio & Electronics, 1990-93 Auto Sound & Security, Various Car Stereo Review and Mobile Electronics. Not sure about Car Sound. I’m starting with CA&E
Its a shame that the most efficient way of doing this also needs you to sacrifice the original source itself. Goddangit, now I'm conflicted. In one way I really want to digitize my collection, but on the other hand, I also want my collection to be intact.

Very important historical work. So glad you are doing this!

This is the true definition of "fanatic". Videos like this makes me wanna up my game.
This stuff really excites me. It’s a true passion!

I need these digital for my work but I’m also happy to share 👌

Extremely nice bro! I really like and appreciate the organization here! Thanks for the motivation.
Hell yes! That is going to be a awesome archive.
always a fan of archiving
thumbs up big man

Cool process. Thanks for sharing!

I only got one of the mags. It has the Clarion 24" sub in it.
I would love to see a more detailed video, but I appreciate it.

Absolutely 👍
Once you get your digital library set up, are you going to make it available for us to buy from you? Thanks. Very tedious but very Kool!!
The access will be free. Those who want can donate to the cause for the mags I’m buying and the other things I’ve bought to complete this process.
Thank you for a good video. Can you scan through many seppareted magazines in one go if you like to look for name of a car model as for ex Ford?
I'm planning to do something similar and this video is super helpful, thanks! Just curious, what size are the magazine pages you're scanning? Do you know if the ix1600 would scan pages that are 11.75" long by 9.25" wide?
It supports 8.5” width. I think Fujitsu makes models that will scan up to 11” wide
Can we search for specific word in pdf? Is it auto ocr scan , scanner?
Please reply
Yes it does OCR and is searchable
5:01 What happened with the bottom of the scan, there? It looks wonky. The next page looks off as well.
Can you please make a video or write the steps down for us? It would greatly be appreciated.
Do you have anything coming up about the - Interfire Amp T1000M?
Not in the immediate future
Are you going to make them available to download?
My Patreon subscribers have access Patreon.com/OldSchoolStereo
I'm thinking dueces I'm not happy about it, but okay thanks for sharing...
Is there any way to do this without ruining the magazine?
Yes there are scanners that look like lamps that can scan with the binding in tact
@@wal2 what are they called?

I must have duplicates or I won’t do this

At least you aren't making them into Microfiche
