Wow, that's a wonderful quote. Do you remember where or who the quote is from by any chance?

    1. Success is not a zero sum game.
    2. You can't make your parents happy. They can't even make themselves happy.
    3. Happiness is an inside job.
    i. Suffering from displacement fantasy or destination anxiety.
ii. Only if you are true about how you feel can you truly heal.
    4. The lesson keeps presenting itself until it has been learned.
    i. Doesn't happen to you but for you.
    5. You don't have to do things perfectly. You have to try to do better as a collective.

“what’s travel and what good is it? any sunset is the sunset; one doesn’t have to go to constantinople to see it. the sensation of freedom that travel brings? i can have it by going from lisbon to benfica, and have it more intensely than one who goes from lisbon to china, because if the freedom isn’t in me, then i won’t have it no matter where i go.
(...) no matter how high we climb or how low we descend, we never escape our sensations. we never disembark from ourselves. we never attain another existence unless we other ourselves by actively, vividly imagining who we are.”
    -Fernando Pessoa

Recently the first mindset has really hit me. My mom always criticized everyone and doesn't trust anyone but that can be a lonely mindset. Even with success, it's better to learn how to collaborate with others. So I'm learning it doesn't have to be a dog eat dog world.

I’m a 21 year old, about to move to a new city and the whole displacement fantasy was something that was on my mind for weeks now. It’s made me want to seek therapy more and be even more open to trying out new things and actively seeking new experiences, knowing my fears of being stuck in my room feeling anxious and lonely in a foreign city. It’s made me more aware that yes, the same anxiety and depression will stick with me and so too will there be problems no matter where I go. But at least I know now I won’t be oblivious to it and rather learn to adapt and conquer it myself. That’s what comes with independence I suppose and you’ve made me more and more excited for this new experience so thank you :)

  • @kruemelmonsterlii

"problems are forever" - re-listened to this and everything you said in relation to it five times now. Just yesterday I questioned everything, my job, what I'm doing etc. But it's stupid to think everything will be better once I do have a new job. That's simply not the root of the problem. So simple and yet so eye opening! Thank you Amy xxx

It’s also worth mentioning that leaving an abusive environment for a new one is NOT destination fantasy. I moved out of my dad’s recently and I truly believe that my new apartment is my own, my sacred space, my refuge that I sought to get away from abuse. Just wanted to get this point out there so others in a similar situation don’t feel invalidated.

I'm definitely watching this a few times. Excellent video. The bit about just learning the lesson rather than repeating the behaviour, really hit home. Writing it out makes it seem like it should be basic common sense, but it wasn't lol. Not
for me anyway. Really need to be more self-aware. I loved this whole video. Thank you for making it.

I am watching this during lockdown and the detachment of the situation has brought a lot of past things into my life in a new, making me observe situations ive been struggling with for months, slowly putting them into a new perspective. Thank you for speaking your truth and helping others while learning and growing yourself.

Man I just wanna cry. This video was fantastic. I'm in love with your knowledge and passion for improvement. Your advice on pleasing parents hit the hardest. I'm 20 and I feel like I cant be who/what they need me to be all the time and that I'm stifling my own growth but dont want to admit it. Really have been resinating with the destination anxiety one. No destination of a materialistic achievement or any for that matter can relieve or take away all unhappiness or problems. It can be temporary moment of happiness or satisfaction. But, yes problems are never ending. It's what keeps us on our toes, and has us continuing to figure them out and grow/improve ourselves.

I love your videos since I was on highschool like 4 years ago and even if I don't have enough free time to watch all of them I always try to listen to u while doing the chores or things like that and sometimes I even repeat some parts to focus on what u just said!
i have two personal mindsets relatively new in my daily life and those are: 1st don't be too hard on myself and adopt more a 'slowly but surely' way of working to fight against anxiety of doing everything perfectly and learn that most of the times things don't go as we thought and that's ok I just have to be more adaptive, and 2nd is to don't let others consume my happiness and grow up from every relationship/friendship I have.
    anyways, happy 2♡2♡
