For everyone that's noticed the smoke alarm noise in the background, I used to live in a flat. It wasn't my smoke alarm, it was in the corridor outside and only a qualified electrician was allowed to touch it. I didn't realise my microphone had picked it up until the video was already uploaded. If it's really that irritating, try listening to the video with speakers as it may be less noticeable.
Actually not too different than what happened to Yuri Gagarin. He became so famous and such a figurehead for the USSR they wouldn't let him fly, but after a lot of pushing they let him go up in a fighter jet and it crashed, killing him. It's eerie how close this series is sometimes just by coincidence
what if... now hear me out, that beardy had this planned to be historically accurate to cause people to think damn that happened in real life too. dont tell anyone you heard me say that, shhhh
Vladimir wouldn't have wanted us to cry, but damn it, it's impossible not to. You will be missed, comrade, and you will most certainly be remembered. I'd say "rest in peace" but developments in Germany and Cuba that are soon to arrive might hinder this wish. Regardless, he deserves a salute! o7
In three attempts I was able to do a manned fly by of the moon with a mercury capsule I used: -three rockets docking in LEO -double heatshields -one aero brake -doubling lifesupport (in case that the kerbal breaks something) -one mercury capsule(in retrospect I could use two and avoid a kerbal mental breakdown) -redundancy, redundancy, redundancy
o7 Hello comrade Beardy! Glad to see another “FaK” video. Hopefully looking into our space interested past could help up forget all the heatwaves in the US (It’s like Arizona moved to the Midwest, it’s just that stupidly hot) and all the wildfires. Hopefully we see countries cooperate like we saw in the 70’s with the CFC’s and the ozone, but it’s highly unlikely. Hopefully you and N9 get to making more music as I see it to be quite good! :D - Seal out
Bring Vladimir back, like the glycreol kraken incident, this was more of a bug, rather than you making a mistake. (Maybee he managed to survive through the might of Vodka and somehow found his way to the nearest outpost off-screen and never died in the 1st place!)
I am sad for Vlad as well, but bringing him back will not bring much to the series. He was very close to retiring anyway. Maybe it will give some peace of mind for the viewers that he will live happily ever after with his family, but that's it.
For a second I thought it was mars horizon, even happier to see that it's ksp, GLORY TO THE SUPERIOR SOVIET UNION! We shall land on the moon before those Americans
The images at 29:30 are stunning -- outstanding! I had the same experience with deadly reentry with Vostok in 1.10. It took very careful reentry planning to get the trajectory just right. Last thing: Is the broadcast from Italy the next song that you and N9 are performing together ;-)
Having one common satellite bus that can be used for many different missions is a very in-character approach. So I really like that. Also a lot of this episode's launch and space scenes have been really well framed in terms of like, I guess game cinematography. You have a good eye. So tragic about Vladimir. He should get a second Hero of the Soviet Union, posthumously, and have a memorial placed on the Kremlin Wall (since I assume there are no physical remains upon disintegrating on reentry).
A spy satellite lost in Antarctica? It's like an alt-history setup for the events portrayed in the 1968 film, Ice Station Zebra. The film was based on a 1963 novel by Alistair MacLean, which itself dramatized actual events that happened in 1959. So, even the timing is about right. :)
RL cosmonaut Vitaly Zholobov had a mustache when he flew on Soyuz in the 70s. Also lots of Soviet cosmonauts were from other member republics and autonomous republics, not just the Russian one.
I have an idea...what if you use the R-7 for what it was supposed to be...a missile delivery system, towards an enemy Space Centre,so they have to pay to repair it
I am sure the Soviet Ministry of Conformity would have taken one look at Pavel's well manicured 'stache and changed their regulations to give him an exclusion.
As we walk onto the factory floor. They stare down at us. The Hero's visage stern and firm. They proclaim " What we did. We did for you. You build these machines. We take them to star's. Vladimir joins his fallen comrades at the Kremlin wall.

If you develop the N-1, you won't need the Proton, as you can just use the N-1 minus the first stage as the N-11, which has similar payload capacity as the Proton.
my new colleague is from kazahstan, we had a talk oif baykonour. give them 50 years and the russian lease ends, i think they are gonna become a space superior country. even w old launchsite as well
I love this series so much! But a thing, you want to give the contractor a near dead satellite.... Pretty sure that your contractor is the state. I mean you are in the USSR. But we sadly know that pissing of the soviet government was maybe the badest thing that happend to the soviet space program.
Here is a thought... why not roll the muticrew, EVA and Lunar flyby into one massive mission just to show the Superiority of the Soviet to the Amerikan'tskys? I mean you'll need to do it anyway for the N1 program.
Just like the ending of every Russian war movie. Our hero Vladimir Kerman sacrificed his life to the endeavor on space exploration of the mother Soviet Union.

Friendly reminder that the soviet almaz series space stations were armed with a 23mm autocannon for defense of reconnaissance equipment.
