Sad to hear that the series is going to end after 1980 with the Mars landings, but I suppose it will have to end at some point. I had nursed a small hope that in the race to Jupiter, the Discovery and the Leonov from "2001: A Space Odyssey" and "2010: The Year We Make Contact" would be recreated. If not in design, then at least in the names. Speaking of names, I wonder what Carnasa would call his Jupiter spacecraft. But this is what imagination is for I suppose. Edit: Also, I just noticed that this is the most episodes of FAK that we've had in one year since 2020.
Yeah, it would be neat if they went all the way to Jupiter. Think you can count crewed Jupiter missions in RSS on your fingers. (At least those that are posted on TH-cam)
I'm so glad FAK is back! You guys got me through the last four years, and now your videos will be more important than ever to get through the next four years.
Recently I've learned about a pretty interesting concept: a Lunar Cycler; basically you place a space station in a circum-lunar orbit and use it to ferry crews to the Moon instead of having to use a rocket capable of getting there by itself, it could allow you to travet to the moon with the LEO Soyuz, you could use a Yakor to get the Soyuz and the lunar module to the station ot just an R-11 if you can build a re-usable lander; the biggest problem I see with it is figuring out an orbit that give an easy randezvous.
@@victor_silva6142 I don't know, it's just something that I've heard of but I don't know the specifics; still, if there's someone who could make it work it would be beardy.
It’s completely pointless for a lunar mission because the only thing you get to skip accelerating is the hab module. Everything else you still have to spend the delta v for. Frankly, for a few days, just be cramped. A Mars cycler makes sense. 6 months each way, you need a decent sized hab module. At that point, it makes sense if you want multiple missions to only accelerate the hab once. (And yes, I know it’s called an Aldrin cycler, but in light of his recent endorsement, he looses the right to have anything named after him in my books).
17:35 AK-74 huh. You could use it for eliminating spies you know. Last time you used an expensive missile which wasted your Delta V, it was the most expensive missile in the world if you think about the costs included to launch it to space.
Spacecraft so esthetically pleasing, especially the big spherical fluorene tank on the Saturn probes and the grand shots at the end of the moon landing!
