You'd be better using a make-up brush, much finer bristles, the ones on a paintbrush are much more coarse and could damage or dislodge those tiny transistors. A baby toothbrush is good for getting the little dried paste pieces too. You're right about the thermal pads, the memory ones are 1mm, the MOSFET one is 2mm. You should not put paste on the heatsink, you should also spread the paste over the GPU die, the internal placement isn't like it is with a CPU.
So its 1mm on all the ones touching the pcv and 2mm on the one thats toiching the cooler? I measured them from an image being 3 times 70x20, 1 time 100x20, and the thick one also 100x20. You think that matches from your experience? There is simply no documentation on this
