    thanks mate, absolutely great video with in depth explanation and absolutely clear shot of the video!
    other videos from other youtuber dont explain that you NEED to be careful of the fans and power pin when opening the PCB and the heatsink! hell, they sometimes fast-forward the whole disassembling part and dont give any instruction. Lol, they think everyone open their GPU on daily basis, so they dont bother give any instruction/explanation and put music instead
    i almost ruin my evga 3080 fans connector cause of those videos.. but this one save me! thanks!

    3 days ago i opened a 2060 and after re-pasting and new thermal pads for memory, the card seems to be dead. Some thermal paste did get on the pc but that i cleaned up with is isopropyl alcohol.. i do see some grey matter and that seems not to get off. The fans are working but the gpu cannot be seen in hiveos. also tested on other rigs without success. I had repasted more of 2060 previously and had o issue. I think this one is dead. any other suggestions? oven? hairdryer?

    When applying paste to GPU, I see content providers mostly doing what you showed. Use a pea sized amount and spread.
    Can you say for same when doing a CPU that spreading is good or following instructions (Notua CPU coolers for example) where they essentially say use a pea and squish it?

    • @milkstacker7064
      @milkstacker7064 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wouldn't recommend doing that on a CPU. There's a lot more pressure on a CPU from the top and if you spread it out even thinly, it'll seep over the edges when you fasten the heatsink to the CPU

      i would say you don't need to change the pads/paste more than every 2 years, if you do it yearly that's ok aswell, but a little overkill.
      Removing dust really depends on how dirty the environment you are running the cards in, could be something you wanna do every 1-3 months if its really dirty or maybe only every year if you are in a very clean environment, if there's visual dust built up its time to remove it. its impeding airflow to the heatsink.

      I'm pretty sure I need to repaste my card because it's constantly hitting 80c after I cleaned it out and it's 3.5 years old. My concern is I crack it open and the thermal pads are all damaged like in this video. Can I just leave them, paste the gpu and put it back together? Seems like thermal pads replacement is scary and unnecessary and I want to avoid it since I definitely don't know what I'm doing. This will be the first gpu I have ever repasted. Actually back cover thermopads should be changed because overheating going from these back side memory IC's and there is no heatsink. Only 1 mm backplate is heatsink for these IC's. Front memory IC's are cooled by fan and heatsink. Also thermo paste. You are using too much. Read carefully at the INTEL or Noctua website how use thermopaste. For me nice video, but viewers should know how do it properly if you are good content creator. otherwise people can destroy their equipment by wrong maintenance procedures.

    If you could stop say "go ahead and" every 5 fuqing seconds that would be great.
    Ridiculously distracting. Ridiculously amateur. Just FYI

    Ok I’m long overdue for a blower like that. I’ll buy from your link. Also great idea with the needle tip dropper!
