Samsung Galaxy S24 Series Hands-On - Pretty Genius?

  • Meet the Galaxy S24 series, a very familiar look, but with a new slogan that focuses more on something else. Samsung is calling out that its Galaxy AI is here, and I know, the term Artificial Intelligence is everywhere today, not just here. What's interesting, though is that Samsung's approach is unique in a couple of ways, and dare I say, most of which are pretty awesome. I'm Jaime Rivera with Pocketnow and let's dive into our hands-on.

    I think cell phone manufacturers should switch to every 2 years for cell phone releases. Cell phones are made to last and people aren't noticing 10 percent increase in processing and 20% battery increases

      They do it yearly for a reason, to a intelligent consumer, a one year cicle is unnecessary but its lucrative cause people still do refresh every other year, and theres companies that offers you a 1 refresh every year and you pay half the phone but its a way to trap you in to a constant type of subscription
      So yes, companies will still do it yearly cause theres money on the table.

      I totally disagree. Nobody forces people to update every year. Having a regular S24 6.2’ in a S23 body is always nice to have. Same for larger battery. Either you buy an older and cheaper S23 or a newer S24. It’s up to everyone choice.

    Coverage must be made on Samsung's small print clause that states AI features are free until 2025.
    We don't know when they'll charge users, how much they'll charge, will each feature be a separate charge, or whether or not the built in AI features are treated differently to web based AI features regarding charges?
    Since AI is the focus of this phone I think glossing over the fact it's only available for a year is more than a bit deceptive.

It costs a ton of money to develop and run AI they have to train their AI and store data in expensive servers that run on very expensive graphics cards and use a ton of power. I bought the a54 a few weeks ago on huge discount, and I'm so glad I didn't go for the S23 as i managed to get a 43in TV with my a54 for less than the price of a s23. Now I see the s24 looks 99% like the a54 I'm even more happy with my decision. I mean, with covers, people won't tell the difference 😊

    Galaxy AI is free until 2025. S24+ is with Exynos in most countries. What a wasted opportunity not to sell S24+ with snapdragon gen 3 worldwide. Galaxy AI being "free" until 2025 is still deceitful marketing.

    • @Sulfen
      @Sulfen 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They do it to keep market share and in turn they have a card to play against Qualcomm. If they switched all of their phones over to Qualcomm's Snapdragon chips they will realize that they hold all of the cards and they will raise their fees on Samsung which means that Samsung will be forced to raise their phone prices to cover it. Qualcomm did it to Apple for their modems which is why Apple switched to Intel which flopped and then once they dealt with the lawsuits and contracted a lower price they went back to Qualcomm for their modems because their partnership with Intel failed and they failed to make their own in-house Modems. Samsung wants to avoid that because they do not trust Qualcomm.

      @@Sulfenyhhh but AI being free until 2025 is horrible

    • @fightROSHANfight
      @fightROSHANfight 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@samo6083 Yeah that's a terrible move to keep it "free" until 2024. I wouldn't be shocked if Android 15 and third party apps have those features natively, though.
      I don't get why Samsung have to be so deceptive. 95% of talks was AI AI AI. Apart from that camera affects things the rest of the options aren't really groundbreaking. I doubt Samsung's AI translation is integrating itself with all chats- Telegram, Whatsapp, FB Chat, Slack, etc. Each will have to make their app manually work with AI translation which they will through Google's API. Eventually, Google search will have an image search option to be a native feature in Android for all phones. Samsung isn't really bringing anything new to the plate with S24+. Just the flatter bezel, Gen 3 CPU. Its only a combination of prebooking offers and day 1 offers clubbing with your bank offers makes it worth it.
      Also, that part about being environmentally conscious is not 100% true. The recycled materials with phones, and parts is mixed with unused materials. Even Corning disclosures they use only a small amount of recycled stuff in their glass depending on the gorilla glass version. Samsung's greenwashing is obnoxious. Jerryrigeverything called them out during S23 Ultra break test.
      My bank is offering additional discounts, plus free wireless charger and charging my 512/12 GB S24 Ultra for the price of 256GB/ 8GB . I am getting Samsung S24 Ultra for 512GB/ 2GB RAM for $999. I've ordered it only because I have doubts about Oneplus 12's after sales service and the rest of the phones from Chinese conglomerates like Vivo basically have adware infused UI. That leaves me with ROG Phone 8, which honestly Asus service with phones is traditionally either a hit or a miss. They do have a 3.5mm jack, though.
      The only real choice I had apart from S24 Ultra was iPhone 15 Pro 256GB, which I didn't really want to go the Apple way.
      This is also a good time for companies not to release new phones every year. Flagship refresh should ideally be once every 3 years because they don't bring anything new to the table.

Ignoring the android base complaining that the images look significantly worse from their phones. And for no reason at all. The work around has been 3rd party apps and direct uploads to the site. But the filters and other features of the in app camera are way worse on android compared to ios. And again, for no good reason.

    I see all these videos on the S24 lineup and all the TH-camr tech people all say there’s great deals. LIES! Go to Samsung’s website and witness the bait and switch. Example: I looked at the base S24 and it claimed the price was $249.99 for it(which I knew was BS, btw) and I put my phone model in(iPhone 13) for trading and the price jumped to $599 AFTER the trade! But no tech TH-camrs have the guts to call out Samsung for this because they’re probably paid by Samsung or they likely get to keep the review units. There’s very few tech people on TH-cam who tell you the truth. Bottom line: it’s the same damn phone as last year except for the S24 Ultra, Samsung jacked Apple’s titanium design for their own version. There’s no longer any real innovation in smartphones, it’s all thievery and the same model each year.
