As a user of the Galaxy S24 Ultra, I believe that the choice between different smartphone brands is a matter of personal preference and individual requirements. Each brand offers excellent products, and it is ultimately up to the user to decide which one best suits their needs. It is important to remember that we are all consumers, and there is no need for animosity or hatred between users of different brands.

I rewatched the sequence and it def doesn’t “crush” the other, color are 90% the same( higher constrast and saturation with the Samsung ), all of them produced blowout sky when filming a subject inside the car and stabilisation is matching. You may find it better with your taste but it’s not like we are comparing a red camera to a phone where the differences would be drastic.

    • @wheelyflac
      @wheelyflac 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +14

@r0main.895 iPhone is just a bit more blown out than Samsung on that part in the car, on Samsung u can see the edges of the branches of the plants out the car window but on iPhone it's blown out. Small difference but it's there , also if u go to the part with the umbrellas.. the iPhone video is lot more saturated the umbrellas look nearly like neon lights

Upgraded Ultra Wide lens with 50MP instead of 12, and slight round edges on the frame. Maybe the 10MP 3x camera will get a 50MP upgrade as well. And the Cameras will have an even better Dynamic Range. 16GB RAM is standerized in the 25 Ultra, but there is always an option to put some Gigabytes on top of it within the settings of the phone, called "RAM-Plus". Every Samsung Phone has this option and I really recommend it in terms of longevity and performance. The more ram avariable, the better. Also, it poblerlly will get a 2TB Option.

My big issue with these kinds of videos is no one shoots using Samsung in Pro Mode for comparison which in my opinion gives the best output. Especially Pro Mode 50mp mode with all the dials set to auto. It doesn't over process the final image as much and captures light more naturally. 50mp gives all the sharpness you'd want in a phone photo as well. I never shoot with the standard camera mode, too over processed too much hdr and too much weird lighting and highlights etc

I found it to be either extremely similar to the other of just truly inconsistent with flat images lacking charm and style ( not that other have the charm but it’s a bit better). Even after all these years and cam comparison the only thing that keep standing up is the zoom and that it in my opinion. Don’t get me wrong it’s a great photo phone but the consistency is not there yet and the others are matching it 90 % of the time

There is still no definitive winner in the camera phone market, as each option has its advantages and disadvantages. However, with in-camera adjustments and post-editing capabilities, preferences for vivid or flat, light or dark images become subjective, as they can be easily altered to suit personal tastes. Since photos are mostly taken and displayed in hdr on phones nowadays, with compatible hdr screens and higher bit depth, and this video is not in hdr (at least not on the screen/ device that I’m using right now), it becomes a bit difficult to judge. The whole shift to hdr photos is kinda troublesome since it isn’t really fully adopted by the mainstream yet. The new HDR photos typically looks way too bright and powerful, and then when converted to old school gamma it looks a bit muted instead, also in part to having just been exposed to the higher dynamics.
Is this video made in hdr/ rec2020 or something like that? Maybe for future comparisons we should put in the extra effort and go for hdr? And to inform the viewer that the video looks best in an hdr compatible monitor.

Every test seems to show the same thing on iPhone, it tends to lean on the underexposed side. This can be fixed pretty easy though as you can just set EV comp to +0.3 or +0.7 and turn on ev persistence in settings. On my iPhone 13 Pro I actually did this but -0.3 because I found it liked to over expose a bit. Colour wise, the other brands definitely push the vibrancy and saturation higher whereas the iPhone tends to keep things more true to life. Now I actually prefer this as I find overly saturated pics sickening to look at, but I understand that some people like this. They can turn on the vibrant picture profile which will make images look more punchy. I'm quite impressed by the Samsung, it has its problems but its certainly a HUGE improvement over how things used to be. The Pixel I find to be good. But there isn't really anything else to say about it. Its not special. Its just... good.

Disgusting how they do that, anyone know any photographic styles tricks to use to fix the nonsense that apple calls a photo?

Great video as usual Tom! I do like the look of the S24 Ultra and Pixel photos, but the iPhone still seems to be better for video overall IMO. I currently have the 15 Pro Max, but I've decided not to upgrade this year due to the new iPhone not having any features I actually need over the 15. What phone do you currently daily drive now Tom? I am thinking of possibly getting the S25 Ultra next year, I'm currently torn.

I'm impressed that you didn't complain when the 13 Pro Max or 14 Pro Max was saturated, instead you kept pushing it, but now that the tables have turned and the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is experiencing saturation, you're suddenly taking notice.

If you have the slightest idea of what a good photo or video should look like then 95% of the times the iPhone is by far the best choice. The photo of the red tesla is a good example.
If you are the average “Joe’, the pictures especially of the Samsung with the Vivid filter applied by default will look better to you, especially if you have no training or passion about photography.

Atleast half the photos from iphones come out with way too warm colors, is dull and lacks any character.
The other two phones give a punchy vibrant photo that looks good. And believe me, atleast 90% of the users are not going to edit more than 10 photos a month.
These are not film grade cameras, so the average joe should get good pics .

You definitely don’t know what a good picture is, all the noon day pictures on the iPhone was over processed, the colors were too warm and was not pleasant at all, yes the iPhone did a lot better in low light for me.. videos is a no brainer, iPhone takes it every time, let’s hope that future update on the 16 fixes the pictures although I am not planning on buying the 16s

If you like oversaturared/overprocessed image quality go ahead. I'd stick with my natural feeling on my iPhone. Yours doesn't make it look natural by default. And the reason why the "charging speed" is lower is because Apple wants to move to wireless charging technique. Also it's a bit better for your battery by not having 100w charging power instead of 20w isn't it?

In overall, Pixel is pretty good but no where close to Samsung S24 Ultra and iPhone 16.
You can't go wrong with either for the latter 2. I'm leaning towards the Samsung S24 Ultra. The best overall. Video has improved a lot and very much acceptable although the iPhone is still better at it.
I'll be getting the Samsung S25 Ultra/Note next year if nothing goes wrong...
