    'Forget trying to repair these things'. Had a Civic with manual windows and parked it for 3 weeks at the Buffalo airport. Went to pay and the window crank was frozen but silly me I forced it a bit. I had to drive back home 2 hours with the window down in sub zero temperatures. Mechanic 'fixes' it and it fails in short time. He fixes it a second time and it fails again. Fixes it a third time replacing the mechanics that time. So, 3 trips for repairs and bills me for two of them which is of course more money than doing it right the first time. I hate walking into shops where there is no one over 40 working there.

    Hi Scotty! Really enjoy your videos. I have owned 3 Toyota and 3 Honda vehicles. I have a 2005 Honda Element EX AWD with Automatic Transmission. Purchased new and now have 141,000 miles. Never had a problem with the windows or window motors. Still have original starter, alternator, fuel pump, water pump, oil pump, fuel injectors, muffler, A/C components. AC blows cold air and Radio still perfect. Changed tires, battery and fluids/filters. regularly. Replaced spark plugs and all brake pads and rear struts at 95k miles. Now I need front struts and lower control arms replaced. Very impressed with the utility and reliability and love the interior too.

    The window lifters failing and the windshields cracking are really the only two common problems with Elements. Otherwise they're like Toyota reliable (especially with a manual like mine). Bookmarking this video for when I eventually have to do this to my Element.

    The Honda Element is one of the most failure cars that Honda even made. Engine and transmission were good though, but it has a lot of problems like this. It could have been better for honda if they made it 4 doors, instead of the suicide doors.

    • @anthonyrice8528
      @anthonyrice8528 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Anthony Staunton I totally agree! I own a 2003 Element with 208,000 miles and just in the last couple years I had to replace both brake calipers (which were stuck) on the passenger side, knock sensor, ignition switch, ignition coils, motor mounts, windshield washer motor, thermostat & housing, left and right ball joints, broken door locks, a broken hood latch and on and on. Thank goodness I was able to do all that work myself or I'd be broke by now! Yet after all that those repairs & money spent there are STILL 14 codes that popped up after hooking up my scan tool the other day. I have never owned a junkier vehicle in all my life! I've owned several Toyotas (Yaris, Scion XA) that had even more miles yet I haven't had 1/10th of the problems with them. This is my third (and definitely LAST) Honda.

    • @anthonystaunton561
      @anthonystaunton561 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@anthonyrice8528 yup, I had one with only 150,000 miles on it. It started its problem with O2 sensor. Later, I had to replace the whole cat converter, brake calibers, struts, brake lines, fuel pump, 2 window motors, and the cherry on top the great passenger airbag light turned on with no reason.
      I had enough and sold it. Now, I have a scion xb that made by toyota and it has 200,000 miles on it. runs just perfect with minor issues. And it has 4 doors and not as heavy.

    • @anthonyrice8528
      @anthonyrice8528 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Anthony Staunton I feel your pain brother! I forgot about the O2 sensor & cat.. I had problems with those as well. And yeah, the XB is a fantastic little car. If it has the 1NZ-FE engine you should be able to get another 100k easily!

    Scotty:
    If you truly want to educate someone on how to perform this replacement, you must stop editing out the video details. There is so much that you edited out that it is almost unusable to someone who is trying to actually do this job. I rate this "instructional" video with a C rating.
    Come on, Scotty. Because you know what you're doing, you can do better on these instructional videos.

    Hey Scotty, my 2001 Outback has finally gotten to the point where it's not worth fixing (Michigan salt & ice is a killer), so I'm in the market for a used car. It's my first time buying a car (the Outback was a gift from my parents) and I'd like your opinion. I was leaning towards a Mazda3 but when I test drove it, it felt way too small for me (I'm 6.2).
    The 2016 Mazda CX-5 felt fantastic, but I live in the city and I don't have kids. Looking for at least 24 MPG, back seats, reliability, sporty/fun to drive, leather seats, and a sub/compact SUV design or possibly a wagon or larger hatchback. AWD would be nice, but I live in Seattle where it rarely snows.
    The 2013-2014 CX-5 and the 2017-2019 Kia Soul have really caught my eye. Any tips or recommendations? Or any other relevant videos I should watch. $15K is my max, $12K would be ideal.
    Love your videos! Thanks for your work!
