  • In this video I install the Dr. KDSS Front Sway Bar End Adapters. Dr. KDSS makes a bunch of great KDSS related accessories including overrides, bushing clamps, rear sway bar bracket extensions, and more. This video is NOT sponsored and honestly I suck at HOW-TO videos so hopefully this provides a bit of insight into the install if you plan to do it.

    I'm a huge fan of preventative maintenance, and I can see how this helps align the sway bar at a better angle. What I don't see is the true benefit vs the cost. Even if the bushings need to be replaced they would probably be cheaper than this mod many times over.

    • @GrizzlyPath
      @GrizzlyPath  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Maybe, but if you take into account the time/cost associated with additional maintenance involved with replacing bushings more often maybe there’s a benefit? Additionally, getting the bushings more in line with OEM spec might provide a performance benefit, albeit minimal maybe. Either way, I figure I’d give it a shot.

    Great video thanks, I'm looking to do a mild 2in front and 1.5in rear lift. Looks like the easiest thing to do is drop the entire sway bar when installing the drkdss spacers. For the rear, did you install the treaty oak spacers? (Both sides) I've seen in some vids that the rear sway bar may contact the panhard bar so some say its recommended based on how much lift you have.

    • @GrizzlyPath
      @GrizzlyPath  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Make sure you have a couple jacks and stuff to help get the sway bar aligned again! Can be a pain. I don’t have any rear KDSS spacers or anything, but don’t have any contact with the panhard. At some point I’ll probably do a panhard correction kit of some sort though.

    What’s the best way to lift the front end at least an inch or so to be level or more level with the rear. 22 trd orp with kdss and wildpeak at3’s on rays team Daytona m8’s. I do go off roading and I do drive a lot on road. I’d like to not spend a ton just yet on suspension. I’ll do a whole system upgrade later down the road. Just need something that won’t throw the suspension quality on road esp. thanks in advance 😊

    • @GrizzlyPath
      @GrizzlyPath  ปีที่แล้ว

      1” and easy? I think that is easily within the realm of just installing a 1/2” spacer (in IFS that equates to a 1” lift). Spacers get a bad rap, for sometimes good reason, but a 1/2” spaced isn’t where you’ll have problems. Greater than 1/2” and that’s when you will begin running into suspension geometry issues.

  • @stewielewis8947
    @stewielewis8947 ปีที่แล้ว

    Any noticeable difference? A lot of great information here. Thank you.

    • @GrizzlyPath
      @GrizzlyPath  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Visually looking at the bushing, yes. But driving I can’t tell tbh. I think this is much more of a preventative maintenance type thing since it should help the life of the bushing. If you have longer travel suspension, the added length from moving the mount slight up might help with down travel, but probably not noticeable.

  • @Pennychaser1
    @Pennychaser1 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Thanks for the video. I'm about to lift 2'' using dobinson kit. I was going to add kdss spacers but looks like you don't even have the spacers in front at 3.5'' lift. I do not have lean on my GX460. So I looks like I can skip the spacers and add this adaptor instead. Do you have spacer in the rear? I see some vehicles kdss component making contact in the rear

    • @GrizzlyPath
      @GrizzlyPath  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah I don’t have the KDSS bracket spacers in front or rear and so far it’s been fine. I can’t see any binding or limitation on the KDSS system. Maybe if I go taller I’d need them. This adapter isn’t 100% necessary, but it definitely seems to align that bushing better so I expect a bit more longevity out of it.

  • @quangho253

      It works as intended and maybe a little better droop on the passenger side. Overall it corrects the angle change which a lift will introduce to the stock kdss setup. Someone will need to do a measurable, repeatable test to check the exact benefits😀.

    • @GrizzlyPath
      @GrizzlyPath  ปีที่แล้ว +2

    • @GrizzlyPath
      @GrizzlyPath  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would say ultimately the effectively of this mod is debatable, however it does for sure help correct the suspension geometry, specifically the bushing. That being said, I’d say a 2” lift will have less bushing deformation than me so I might skip it unless you’re looking to perfect the KDSS geometry. >2” and I’d maybe consider it more.

    • @GrizzlyPath
      @GrizzlyPath  ปีที่แล้ว

      Honestly AFAIK a KDSS specific kit might just not come with extended sway bar end links since the KDSS sway bar is different. This bracket is entirely optional and just looks like it should help with the sway bar bracket geometry.

  • @vinnyrodriguez3882
    @vinnyrodriguez3882 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Is this used as an alternative for the kdss spacers? Will this correct the lean and other issues fixed with the spacers?

    • @GrizzlyPath
      @GrizzlyPath  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No, I don’t believe it’s a substitute for the KDSS spacers, but it does help fix the sway bar bracket alignment which I’m unsure if it does much but reduce bushing wear. Doubt it will not help with lean, id recommend small (1/4”) strut spacers to help with lean. I equalized the pressure in the KDSS manifold, but I’m unsure if it did anything to affect lean. I’m not sure if I ever had lean personally.

      @PatSloanx ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GrizzlyPath cool. did you video the install? I am looking for a good process. most people undoo the upper and the steering etc and pull out the top. I've seen a few non kdss just remove the lower control arm ball mount bolts and just drop it out the bottom. Seems way easier. but with kdss the swaybar is connected to the lower. I was thinking it's still a good way to keep it simple. just remove the sway mounts (like you did on this video) on the lowers and the lower ball joint bolts and drop the struts out. Does that sound reasonable? are there any KDSS system things I should consider before doing so? I've seen a few kdss videos where they open the kdss valves 2 turns each before working on the suspension, but I am not sure why that is done. Thoughts?

    • @GrizzlyPath
      @GrizzlyPath  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think your game plan sounds good!
      I believe I disconnected the sway bar to LCA bracket first, popped the upper ball joint out and then that was enough for me to get the coil over assembly out. Just lift up on the UCA and pry the LCA down. I can’t remember, but I may have had to loosen the LCA/subframe camber bolts so the LCA would pivot down easier, but you’ll need an alignment anyway so if you have to it’s nbd.
      Getting the KDSS sway bar back on can be a bit of a bear. I can’t remember what I showed in this video, but IIRC the trick is to use a ratchet strap to help pull the sway bar up and into position. I remember that helping! And try not to cross thread the sway bar to KDSS bracket bolts! You’ll be tired and it might be difficult to get them in if it’s not quite aligned! Ratchet strap helped here.

      Equalizing the system seems to be hit or miss on whether it fixed the lean problem. A lean of some sort seems to be inherent in Tacoma/4Runners, I guess due to the weight distribution (fuel tank, etc).
      However, if you do try the equalization method it is performed AFTER installing a lift, so you could still do it.
