What Trump was most right about, and what he adressed in his farewell speech, is the importance of energy independence. Europe chose not to secure this, and now that every rope is torn, we face all the difficulties from that. The most ridiculous leadership is of Germany, that stopped nuclear power, but keeps mining lignite, the least effective coal to sell it, then proceeds to buy electricity from Poland's coal plants, and on top of that Nordstream gets blown up. But the people are starting to see more clearly what they should do.

The one thing I have noticed about every Trump hating Republican, they NEVER did any researched on him. That 30 year old video that Thomas Sowell said that Williams had recently sent him AFTER Trump had been in office for a year, I had watched as soon as Trump came down the escalators. This proves that no matter how intelligent a person is, they are capable of letting their biases and dislike of an individual cause them to lie on them. Trump has never changed. Exactly. Trump has always been very serious about his political positions, and upturned his life in order to defend them. His theatricality is a device, which he uses to great effect. But is that one of the liabilities of attaining high office, learns to act that way? I didn't see that in Obama, who seemed comfortable in his own skin.
I see it in my own PM next door, and I think the habit extends to others in cabinet. Just today I watched a cabinet minister dodge and weave for several minutes, virtue-signaling as he went, to avoid admitting a mistake.

I went from anti-Trump to unsure over the course of his presidency, and from there to pro-Trump less than half a year into Biden's presidency.
It began after I stopped listening only to the left like I had been taught to, around the time I found Sowell himself actually, and now here I am.
My political awakening with Sowell is what opened me up to at least listen to what the other positions had to say, to listen to righ wing and centrist views, and eventually culminating in me becoming pro-Trump.

Was Trump doing what is good for the people when he set up a fraudulent college to scam uneducated people? Prior to the election, my wife and I were pondering Trump. We both felt he was an unknown quantity and both of us were tired of voting for the lesser of two evils.
Backing poor candidates like McCain and Romney left us little confidence in the GOP's ability to pick a good nominee.
We both decided to take a chance and back him. Neither of us regretted that decision. He was a far better president than we ever dreamed.
I honestly believe the non stop attacks on him by the FBI, DOJ, media, etc... directly correspond to the threat the deep state and the left see in him.

Very few people have had such a deep, detailed, factual worldview of societal politics and culture. Always finding and stating solid truths no matter who it upset. Such an incredible mind, It is a crime that he gets far less respect than he deserves. He should be included at/near the top of any list of great thinkers. I too had my doubts of Trump at first, honestly didn’t take him as serious as I should have. But when he was the winner of that election, I decided to give him a chance to see how he would do, and gave him 100 days in the office to study whether he had what it took to be a leader or if this was just something to add to his list of criteria he wanted to put for his own legacy. By the first 100 days, I am honored to say he humbled my perspective about him and saw that he was taking his oath to serve our country with real determination that I have ever witnessed a president do. I do believe he has his blind spots like we all do and it has the potential to hurt both him and the country, but he made serious effort and the results showed how much he cared for the US. Despite what the establishment has attempted to defame him and his family’s legacy, he still delivered those punches on our behalf of those of us who were about to lose hope in our country.
Thus, he earned my respect more than any politician who has sat in that room for decades making a career by just sitting in those damned seats, while our country wasted away. And that is what scares the establishment the most, their time of sitting is now ending.

I don’t think Mr Sowell has spent a lot of time thinking about the circumstances of Donald Trump in his 30s. At that time he was successful, had a formula for being successful, saw what was wrong with the country, and was talking about what he felt needed to be done. The one big difference was he was not facing an unrelentingly hostile media 365/24/7. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen Mr. Sowell debate anyone in a palpably hostile environment. Usually he’s in a very controlled situation, which is entirely different than what Trump faced day in and day out as candidate and as president. Trump took the abuse and gave it right back to people who did not deserve the time of day or the least amount of respect but there is ample evidence of Trump, being very respectful, very cordial and very measured in his response to questions just not with people who are clearly out to get him and to ignore this and take the easy route of chalking it up too emotional immaturity on the part of Trump is somewhat detrimental to Mr. Sowell’s credibility.

I can explain it all in much simpler terms. When people don't like a person's personality they will often ignore or deny any good thing done by the disliked person. If Trump or any disliked person cured cancer today the 10:00 PM news would be filled with stories saying he (or she) did it for the money or they'll claim that he (or she) didn't actually do it or make any significant contribution.

But the fact that he did well in supporting healthy economic principles and was directly against illegal immigration and against the imperialistic tendencies of the US shows that his ACTIONS -- as opposed to his personality -- were praiseworthy...and well in line with the core interests of most voters. In others they are meant to support areas of US business -- which can sometimes be necessary for complicated reasons. His policies helped greatly to reduce energy costs, and were generally pro-business (and anti-tax). Joe Biden has also sometimes acted in a pro-business manner during his career -- but that was only when those businesses first (or afterwards) PAID HIM to act in their favor. That's different, lol.

It is impossible to have both equality of opportunity and equality of outcome. The only way to achieve equality of outcome is to squelch equality of opportunity. Conversely, if true equality of opportunity exists, equality of outcome will cease. If you were to erase the portion of your statement including equality of outcome, I would agree 100% with your statement.

I have seen many questions which prompt people to consider the implications of impossible hypotheticals. There are still things to be learned by considering such questions.
If the inputs are the same why wouldn’t the outcomes have equal distributions? You really have to believe races are unequal in many to not expect equal results.

If you look at some old interviews of Trump when he was younger, he shows that he is thoughtful and understands issues. Look at any old footage of Biden and you see one of the dimmest wits around.

I think Trump at 70 had likely found that ability to laugh at himself and look upon situations a bit more humorously than he was able to in his thirties.

Yeah, I used to think Trump was a fool too. Didn't vote for him or Hillary because she wanted to go to war with Russia (funny how that's technically happening now with someone else at the front line, right? Total coincidence, I'm sure~ Wink.) I remember when Trump won, I was laughing my home from work at how ridiculous it was. But I kept a close eye. I watched as he worked. His choices positively effected my workplace. Obama got my old workplace to layoff hundreds and move to China. I watched Trump handle conflicts extremely well and peacefully. I watched Biden throw all the efforts away. Trump was truly living up to his MAGA slogan. Biden? He's MAWA: Make War Great Again. I loath him and everyone in his crew.

I can't say that my logic was much different than Mr. Sowell's when it came to picking who to vote for. When he first ran, the only reason I finally decided to vote for him was because I knew that he wouldn't receive the protection from criticism and the media as Hillary Clinton would have. In other words, the media hated him, and I hated the media. Therefore, he was the only choice for me.
