I'm 70,in New Guinea 🇵🇬 I've seen locals catch prime fish using local leaves as lures, top is green, under side whitish! You can make from alfoil put red paint line on (nail varnish) ,it's great feeling getting quality fish 🐟 on one you made, cheers 🍻 from Australia ❤ 😊

Try this challenge, a friend and I only took our rods, jig heads etc and made lures from whatever we found at the spot. Surprisingly we caught a few on assorted junk left behind. Love the challenge vids.
The best flatty lure ive ever used was a two dollar cheapie from Kmart.
I went back and bought a heap of em. That was twenty years ago, I've got two left.
I also still have the cheap Jarvis Walker rod from there. I use it more than my expensive ones😅
I remember 20 years ago when kmart eastgardens had like 3 big aisles just dedicated to fishing. This was before bcf and anaconda. They had a mad range back then
True that Vas, there used to be so much more choice. Now you'd be lucky to get one aisle!
They use to carry a lot more of the big name brands as well
Yahhh I remember they use to sell shimano gear in kmart back in the days. My dad still has all the shimano bait runner reels he use to buy from there.
Mega stock & big brands....Mustard hooks, Rebal & Nilsmaster lures.
I remember shopping at Kmart Cairns in the 90s it was mind blowing the range of big brand lures they stocked l bought a Shimano baitcaster rod top of the range at kmart in Sydney.
Hey shroom when you get a hit and loose the fish I recommend you leave your lure on the bottom for 5-10 seconds just so the fish can eat again and you can catch it hope this helps.

Kmart used to have a huge range of fishing gear with 3-4 aisles from the 70s -90s & all big brands too l got nearly all my gear there....Mustard hooks, Shimano rods, Nilsmaster lures it was the best.

Kmart goes hard! Caught 2 very good sized Murray cod on a $5 plastic.
Kmart sports section is nothing compared to what we had decades ago. Back then you could buy many types of guns including semiautos, 357 Magnum power heads for spearfishing, crossbows, slingshots, BB guns, air rifles Oh and fishing rods
Big predator fish ambush, mulloway kingies barra /hiding behind bridge structures and jetty pillons 😊
I always hope for something big to shoot out from the cover and nail the lure haha

almost 25 years ago my grandmother got me and my 2 brothers a kmart fishing rod used it for like 10-15 years until my brother one day drove to her house where i still kept it took all the rods to use and didnt look after them so i no longer have it but that thing lasted over a decade "the wheel was long replaced but thats a thing you upgrade now and again"

Kmart had in the day Shimano ix reels with the back drag and bullet fire cast I have 2 1000 & 4000 now you pay your ass out great reels also you get your gear in a few minutes up the road now travel K's for a large venue.🐊

KMart has pretty decent stuff for a cheap range, they used to stock a whole lot of unusable rubbish but these days they have improved

As an Aussie that’s not really around to many other cultures, this guy’s accent to me is crazy, it’s a cross between Aussie, Arab and Asian. It’s like he’s taken on a little bit of accent from all the different people he’s grown up with, it makes me laugh a bit.

As an Aussie who grew up in Whiteland, too, I'm finally getting used to diverse Australians.
It still surprises me when an Asian looking person says G'day, mate.
Of course I love food. Diverse food is much better than sausages.
@@redtobertshateshandles hahaha to true. I also get thrown, especially when someone Asian looking has an Aussie accent as strong as mine, I actually really like it and find it quite a novelty. I find myself wanting to listen to them talk as I almost don’t believe the sound coming out of them is theirs lol.
The reason we still have a bit of an Asian accent is generally we speak to our parents/grandparents in an Asian language, whether that be Vietnamese, Tagalog, Chinese, Malay or Japanese etc etc. You spend 90% of your time speaking English with Australians but because the Asian languages are so different and we speak it fluently it bleeds through. Funnily enough when we go visit relatives overseas they hate speaking to us in the native language because the Aus accent is overpowering and it doesn't sound right

ther is nowhere near that amount of stock in our stores, and how neat and tidy was it, fishing heavy and with bait is the gear you can ever find and large poppers and things, anyway great vid mate keep up the fantastic job cheers .

I bought all my fishing gear from Kmart and target. a generous couple gave me $80:00 to buy a rod and reel so I bought a Jarvis walker 8 foot Mundo rod a Ryobi reel still got it.

Anything that catches flathead has to be a goodun.
They take a lot of lures but if it's unusually strange they won't bite at all (or especially if you need one during a challenge haha)

13:00 I think that's because it doesn't fall right with a 16th ounce jighead and requires a bit more weight to fall nicely.
More weight usually helps, we got the job done in the end!
