I think they should re-use the raven-knight from series 20. The color scheme was unique (light orange/black with dark red accents) and the raven emblem on the shield was pretty cool. It's quite a waste to leave it there.
Since the Black Falcons are now allies, I would like to see a Viking clan opposing the Lion Knight's. We already have a long ship and we are getting the Target exclusive Viking Village later this year. It would use familiar themes but as far as I'm aware Lego never put the Vikings and Knights into the same sets opposing each other so I think it would be fun and different. Plus in real world history the Vikings did fight with the English.
I think Lego should add like a unicorn or griffin group with the color scheme being light blue and pink for the unicorn and brown and red for the griffin. I think this would make it more fantasy like.
Personally, the Black Knights were always my favorite faction. The have what are arguably the best looking classic castle sets. I would to see them get an updated look like some of the other classic factions have had in recent years.
I actually like what they were going for in the first Lego castle where there were lots of different heraldry. I think it is more historically accurate.
They actually did design a faction similar to what you suggested. It was an Owl with half purple and half yellow as the color scheme. These were used for the legoland hotels wizard suites. They should come up if you google that. I heard a rumor that we never got these because of the return of Harry potter sets and that those would be too similar to a new Magical castle faction.
A really cool faction not shown here were the Dragon Knights with the green/yellow shields. They had a less cartoonish look imo. The Black Monarch's small dragon shields had a cool emblem too, but their larger shields were too cartoonish.
My favorite lego castle is in fact the lion Knights because without them the villains would win thats not good so lego keep having the lion knights as the main charaters in the next castle theme please 😂😂😂.
I like the idea of Black Falcons being good guys now since it means more good guy variety, i'd also love to see Dwarves back as faction. Also not really a faction per say but maybe farmers as a faction with their own goat shield and maybe the hope of getting a new goat piece lol
Yes, Lego could still give us some more peasants! The blacksmith shop was a step in the right direction but they've got to make up for decades of almost nothing in that category. As a matter of fact, I may or may not touch on that in a future video...
I don't like the idea of purple heraldry because it probably didn't ever exist since almost only royals and high nobility could afford it. Putting expensive purple on common footmen and even knights would be a waste However I like the idea of using other animals in heraldry such as boar, bull, eagle, raven, bear, wolf, griffin (not a real animal but still) or deer.
Great vid. I would still love “Elflands” that was hinted from the Fantasy Era. And we could definitely do with more Elves! Dwarves are my fav though! Some chunky helmets, geometric shields and elaborate beards and they could take ALLLL my money! I do think they should continue updating there vintage stuff too though as it’s seems like quite fan pleaser. I would kill for some updated Dragon Masters as they were some of my very first sets!
You couldn't imagine how disappointed I was that they never made a proper Elves subtheme lol. There was a moment in like 2014 when we thought the "Elves" theme was going to be just that...imagine how I felt! And yes, the Dwarves are long overdue for a comeback. Since the Fantasy Era theme sold so well, I honestly don't know why it's taken them so long to bring it back
I really enjoyed the red falcon breastplates they made exclusive to Lego store minifigure building areas, it was a little change but it allowed for much creativity for creating new groups with fans
I agree that the Kingdoms line has the most attractive logo- the gold accented with a thick black line is stunning, combined with detailed chain mail. Since there are so many themes out there, I think I would rather they expand on tiny ones that already exist, like the yellow raven knights. Even small aesthetic decisions like the black/yellow checker pattern on the uniform go a long way to distinguish it as a separate faction.
I think it would be cool to see some sort of badger or fox animal on the crest, with maybe a dark green and black accent colours? I love your ideas and how nobody else has really thought of how much lions are used for the good guys
An eagle symbol for a faction would be a cool idea. I would like a medieval cross symbol in blue and white, or maybe a ram head with yellow and silver colors
I made some ideas for a castle theme 2024, in it there were four factions. The bandits in browns and greens, the dragon knights, in dark and olive green, the vipers, in blue, and the owls, in orange. The dragon knights mostly fought the bandits in forest areas, while the vipers and owls fought in castles and such. I also had each set include a mini animals for each faction
I’d love to see a griffin heraldry and purple is a great unexplored opportunity. As for lions, when it’s great (Crusaders/Kingdoms), it’s among the best. When it’s not (Royal Knights/2013) it’s pretty bad.
I'd like a range that has individual knights with individual liveries. They could sell them in sets like the stunt drivers are sold right now. A large jousting field with 2-4 knights and then individual knight packs. Each knight could have their own squire, page, etc.. Maybe one of them is accompanied by a jester. Maybe some have a whole gang of men-at-arms at their back. That way, rather than it just being about 2 sides facing off, with obvious good guys/bad guys, people can pick an individual character to root for.
Here's a totally original idea I have never once seen Lego do. They make Fright Knights a protagonist fighting a rival faction that is just as evil as them. Two evil factions fighting eachother.
I think we could use a barbarian/wildmen/berserker type faction, something with a Bear theme to it. Either wearing bearskins, having bears as mounts or pets, and having many tribal motifs. As for a protagonist faction, I think we have plenty of 'Kingdoms', so how about a kingdomless faction of Quest Seekers in search of adventure. A brotherhood of virtuous questing Knights who go out to rescue damsels in distress, battle against mythical creatures, search for ancient relics and magical artifacts, and protect the realm from evil forces. Their emblem could be a crossing Key and Sword, or a maybe a Unicorn.
I've recently took up lego castle army building, and for my lion knights I've came up with a head canon that the 2010 kingdoms lion knights and the lion knights from the lion knight's castle are from different houses.
I wanna see comeback of the Black Knights, they had some of the coolest Shields, Armor and the best 90's castle set 6086. Mostly likely they'll tease on the minifig series. Seems like there are different Lion factions, one with the classic Lion emblem and the other with black background but are still look great. I highly doubt lego will ever bring the castle series back. These days it's Ninjago and remakes of licensed crap.
Unfortunately, you've got a point about the overload of licenses. It sucks too because Lego is supposed to be about creativity and that's the antithesis of it. Nonetheless, they've done well making Castle sets in the last few years and I have (maybe unreasonably) high expectations going forward
The first faction I fell in love with were the red lions until I found how many different lion knights there are. Now working on selling off many of my lion knights for a falcon army.
When I was a kid I don't think I ever saw the lion knights as good guys and black falcons as bad guys. They were warring factions in my stories, but neither one had a moral stance that was superior to the other, they both just wanted what the other had. If lego released a new castle theme, I bet they could make a pretty cool griffin logo for the good guys. Maybe a green and gold griffin group versus purple and black ram knights, or a ram skull to really sell the idea that they're bad.
Dark red cloth and pearl dark gray weapons and armor, with a gold double-headed eagle on a dark red background for their banners and heraldry. Make sure they've got lots of barded horses and use the new recurve bow for their ranged soldiers (including horse archers). Better still if they include heads that are mail-patterned with only the eyes visible. Armor printing should include mail, scale, and lamellar (medieval roman and not asiatic, with the recent Vikings 3-in-1 lamellar torso being a solid approximation). Helmets should include spangenhelm variants (the conical helmet with nose piece and neck guard is okay but not great, and the spectacle helm is also decent but not ideal) and kettle helmets. Primary weapons should include the aforementioned recurve bows, spears (preferably longer than the basic spear variants currently available), maces (you can make good brick-built ones using lightsaber handles, short shafts, and 8-tooth technic gears), and a new sword pattern (use the gladius-style short sword but increase the blade length to approximate a spatha). Make the "king" figure into an emperor, using the artwork of Basil II Bulgaroctonus being elevated on a shield as the inspiration, which would feature a new "crown" helmet that is closer to the one worn in that image. Shields should include rohan-style round shields and kite shields.
1. A rich maritime faction sporting purples and golds, inspired by the Byzantine Empire and Italian merchant republics. Lots of ships and harbors, as well as technical innovations (Greek fire, the hwacha). 2. Something "Oriental" - either Arab, Persian, Indian, or combination thereof works for me. Camels, turbans, scimirars, caravans. 3. Steppe riders, taking inspiration from Huns, Scythians, Turks, Mongols, and so on. 4. Return to fantasy but with Dragon Riders and/or Fright Knights as the good guys or at least morally ambiguous ones. Alternatively make dwarves or elves the main faction.
I would love to see large updated Forrest men with modern building techniques. I know they have castle in the Forrest, but that one is hard and expensive to get. The old Forrest men sets with a few exceptions are not worth the bloated price
Don’t forget about Knights Kingdom II! We already had an eagle faction represented there, and a purple wolf faction. I’d love to see Lego embrace the lore of KKII as part of their greater castle lore and fill out the ranks of each of the 4 original knights so we can see what their provinces are like. I know people don’t love KKII but they could integrate their ideas into the classic castle line up pretty easily in my eyes.
I'm not a huge KKII fan but I have a few sets, including Mistlands Tower. You're right about those knights having unique heraldries, but I'm not so sure they count since they only represented one knight each. I would want a whole faction of purple wolves!
@@BB2O2 yeah I’d love to have the lore expanded. I believe there were plans for sets that show each knight’s homelands that were scrapped. Would be cool to see their worlds explored more.
If anything there's too many black falcons. 3 sets in the past 2 years feature them (creator 3 in 1 castle, lion knights castle, medieval blacksmith) and then the newest cmf series 24 falconer is apart of the faction aswell Yeah there's alot of factions with lion related symbols but they aren't connected to eachother in any way, the ones from the lion knights castle are the only ones that are a true callback to the OG crusaders of the 1980s Although the cmf23 series features a yellow castle knight based off the figures from the OG set 375 yellow castle which was pretty cool. Long overdue for a modern reinterpretation of that faction
There's a pretty simple reason Lion imagery keeps popping up in Castle: LEGO is a Danish company, and the coat of arms of Denmark have featured lions for centuries: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coat_of_arms_of_Denmark
Instead of seeing two factions fights each other. I would love to see a Lego Castle into a Lego City/Town. I would like to see LEGO release sets that would be different buildings in a medieval area. So creators can finally build a their own town. Know if you were to bring a 2nd faction bring back the Wolfs tribe as bandits.(but don't have it be the main focus of the sets.
Like what LEGO did with the first lion-knight faction, maybe rotate villains once or twice after they get stale (even though the factions could have all easily coexisted). The eagle is a good idea, but I think for a villain it’s best to look back at old factions. The raven knight (though I think it looks more like a crow…) is a good knight to have a protagonist faction based off of. Another would be the bear knight. If it’s original, though, I think that there should be a faction with a boar or warthog crest, on grey. It’s a color scheme similar to the Knights’ Kingdom I line, but if they made real castles and such, it could be really cool.
The Deer with antlers and crown or Griffin might be good ones as new heraldic symbols. But Raven symbol should be re-used. All these 3 are historic used medieval heraldic banner symbols.
What about a faction symbol that isn't a creature? Also a possibly reason why lions are commonly used as the good guy faction is that its the Danish coat of arms. I also believe this was the basis for the Lion knights vs black falcons, as the German coat of arms features a black eagle.
I've got a few Ideas for new faction sigil's for good, evil and even neutral. For good faction a golden griffin on a red and black shield shield For evil faction I'm thinking a black spider on a purple shield and for a neutral faction a red fox for a forestmen like faction
Could do Hawks, Orange and Gold make there higher up knights be Phoenix inspired, lotta fire motifs, enemies to a revamped (literally) Fright knights with them being Vampires and Ghosts
i dont pick Black Falcons as a "bad guys" but as more opposing Kingdom to the lion knights and with a little more darker theme. Also i hope the yellow black with two axes crossing faction would make a comeback. It is still my favourite faction
Wasn't that used in knights of moricia? Santis raucous Jako and Dan ju? Sorry for spelling them wrong but still..... the eagel bear monkey wolf was there coat of arm's I wish they came out with banners as well instead of just a few flags in castle
I have no problem with LEGO re-introducing the Lion Knights with the 90th anniversary castle, as they have also re-introduced other classic factions like the Black Falcons and Forestmen recently, so it falls in line there. But I will agree that they have overdone the Lion faction over the course of LEGO's castle lifespan.
I want them to take a page from GoT/HotD. Create a historically inspired set of houses and factions as the basis for new Lego castle factions. You can still keep the overly-thematic factions for kid-friendliness, but there should still be a lot more variety to them.
@@BB2O2 Exactly. I try to build and buy based on historical precedent, there are a number of different shields currently available on the official pick a brick right now, I picked up a few with vip points last night.
I think I know why they are using blue and red (apparently they are really really popular with kids - especially boys - ). And last time they tried a purple knight, it looked off (the one from the morcia castle)
@@BB2O2 I couldn't tell you exactly, but it was on a kids toys popularity discussion here on YT(why pokemon Red for example was the best seller in the west - and why we had Red and Blue instead of Red and Green) - also look at lego sets (there is a metric ton of Kai - the red ninja from Ninjago and only 1 or at most 2 Coles - the black Ninja - per Wave, I would presume they did their market research and noticed that red sells - same as blue I would wager). I don't believe the Lion Knights being Red + Blue + Gold to be a coincidence, and I would bet that the popularity of them and the Black (blue) Falcons is due to their color as well. Also on a side note, I was mucking about with some color pallets and noticed purple and dark green work really REALLY well together. So Purple might be a nice accent color for a dark Green faction.
That's a great combo! As far as I remember there has never been a green protagonist faction before, unless you count the Forestmen. Since they're Gryphons, would you prefer a new fantasy theme?
@@BB2O2 I must admit I would prefer a new fantasy theme. Fantasy era was just amazing. That having been said i think the faction could work in a historicla theme if it came down to it. The Gryphon was in some parts of the middle ages seen as a representation of the duel nature of Christ, and at other times seen as an evil creature so the faction could even go either way, depending on your lore preferences.
The Lions were everywhere in European middle-ages, especially for kings. probably why so easy and popular. Personally I would love to see more variation, a stag would be my choice because its historically on my family crest
That would be great! Just the head of a stag, like the Forestmen, or a full one? Also, if you don't mind me asking, where is your family from? I love heraldry
@@BB2O2 Its usually just the head - sort of like the forestmen - Scottish roots - from the Fraser Clan - its actually a really interesting history going back to 1066 and France before that.
Lego Should expand the troll factions, release more sets, those mini figures are like lego versions of a masterpiece , perfect antagonists for human Lego factions . Tired of Seeing Too much knights sets at shelves.
"Eagels resembels good guys" Me trying to think of real life factions using the eagel: Romens, Nazis, Persians, Jenkis... ye I think think there might be a reason why they arn't sean to often as good guys.
Eh, you can find plenty of militaries that committed atrocities under a lion banner too but that hasn't stopped Lego. The eagle is my country's symbol so I admit to being biased
I think “the mockingbirds” should be the next protagonist faction due to the fact that a mocking bird is an innocent creature who sings for others and try’s to avoid conflict. Singing for others could represent how they help their allied factions when in need. avoiding conflict could represent how they will always try to work things out before turning around with swords to fight their enemy’s right away. There colors should be yellow, crimson red and white.
I think they should re-use the raven-knight from series 20. The color scheme was unique (light orange/black with dark red accents) and the raven emblem on the shield was pretty cool. It's quite a waste to leave it there.
Absolutely! They've had so many good concepts on the CMF knights that never turned out to be more than that, and I wish they would
Yea it’s my favourite knight faction I wish they made more, they’re so expensive

I wish that one day the yellow raven knights make a comeback as villains, my favorite faction
That would be great! Wish they did more with that heraldry, that was one of my favorite collectible minifigures
For the new antagonist faction it could be a dark red colored hornet knights

The Deer with antlers and crown or Griffin might be good ones as new heraldic symbols. But Raven symbol should be re-used. All these 3 are historic used medieval heraldic banner symbols.
What about a faction symbol that isn't a creature?
Also a possibly reason why lions are commonly used as the good guy faction is that its the Danish coat of arms. I also believe this was the basis for the Lion knights vs black falcons, as the German coat of arms features a black eagle.
Lego needs to bring back some of the older knights like the crown knights dragon knights and bull knights
I've got a few Ideas for new faction sigil's for good, evil and even neutral.
For good faction a golden griffin on a red and black shield shield
For evil faction I'm thinking a black spider on a purple shield
and for a neutral faction a red fox for a forestmen like faction
Congrats on 500 subs, you are very underrated!
I appreciate it! Looks like 600 won't take long at all the way it's going haha
The Lion is in Denmark's armory , which is why Lego keeps using it.
fuck no - i want lego to sell Horses with Horse Barding & Armor!
Could do Hawks, Orange and Gold make there higher up knights be Phoenix inspired, lotta fire motifs, enemies to a revamped (literally) Fright knights with them being Vampires and Ghosts
"Eagles are commonly associated with the good guys". WW2 Reichsadler would like a word with you.
green and gray griffin faction that could be fun plus its my school mascot
Gold eagle with red background
Wolfpack but more mongol/hun related armor as wolf to mongols is like lion to the English
i dont pick Black Falcons as a "bad guys" but as more opposing Kingdom to the lion knights and with a little more darker theme. Also i hope the yellow black with two axes crossing faction would make a comeback. It is still my favourite faction
I get you with the Black Falcons, but since Lego has since shifted towards "good" and " bad" factions, they lean towards the latter
I would love to see a white dragon on a dark green torso with yellow highlights.
Interesting, so kind of like the kingdoms dragon knights?
@@BB2O2 Yes but less evil looking
Green and Gild Lion Heart set
Honestly, that's how it was during the middle ages anyways. I'd prefer that over what they're doing now. Thanks for watching!
That's interesting, thanks for sharing. Do you remember where you saw it?
I guess I never relised that black falcon was the bad guys
They aren't to some people!
Ok protagonist idea: gryphon, green and gold colors
@@mrlegobrick Interesting! I got the chance to visit Scotland last year, I love its history. Thanks for sharing!
i aint got a name or colour in mind but the cress will be an elephant and they use war elephants to ride into battle 🐘
That would be sick! Surprised they haven't tried something like that yet. Thanks for watching!
The sigil a Boar.
The colors black and yellow.
Interesting! Thanks for watching
Well guess what now you have another subscriber for your next goal!
You know I appreciate it! Thanks man
Anytime!
I want more castle sets based on lion knights verse black Falcons
To each their own! Lego has done a great job with the last few Castle sets doing just that, I'd honestly like to see them branch out at this point
Yes there are too many. #make tournament knights great again.
A red bkack falcon army vs raven knights
Funny you say that, I remember there was a red and white Black Falcon torso in pick a brick not too long ago. Maybe it was a test!
Gryphon Knights.
Good call! That seems to be a popular choice. Thanks for watching!
At this time that im re watching your video your almost at 1k
Getting close! If you share it maybe it'll happen even faster haha. Thank you for watching again!
Lego Should expand the troll factions, release more sets, those mini figures are like lego versions of a masterpiece , perfect antagonists for human Lego factions . Tired of Seeing Too much knights sets at shelves.
Dragon knights in Gold
Second coming of the 2010 Dragon Knights? I'd be for it
"Eagels resembels good guys"
Me trying to think of real life factions using the eagel:
Romens, Nazis, Persians, Jenkis... ye I think think there might be a reason why they arn't sean to often as good guys.
Eh, you can find plenty of militaries that committed atrocities under a lion banner too but that hasn't stopped Lego. The eagle is my country's symbol so I admit to being biased
I want wolf pack to come back actually.
That would be fun! Thanks for watching
The answer is yes.
Somthing about roman Empire and Sparta or Islamic empire there are many things thay can do instead of european factions...
Lots of good options out there for sure. I'd kill for a Rome theme, and it's a big surprising they've never really touched on the Middle East.
Always love when grown men complain about childern toys looking to childish:P
That's what I'm here for! Thanks for watching, Simon.
Interesting thoughts here. I don't think anyone has suggested a mockingbird yet, that's a good idea and explanation. I'd be down for it!
The answer is no
Interesting. Any reason why?
@@BB2O2 any castle at this point is good castle. More castle please lego!
@@PresidentoftheManosquare Fair enough haha. Gald to have another Castle fan on board. Thanks for watching!
