I have “amnesia” from my car wreck so I can totally understand it happening in a major traumatic event. However I had a concussion and was seriously injured and almost died so it makes sense my memory of the wreck and the next few days of what happened I only have maybe 2 or 3 minutes worth of remembering. Though I was talking to my (ex) husband and my family in the hospital, the doctors and nurses, I wasn’t just knocked out for days I was awake. It’s such a weird feeling not knowing what all happened. I remember driving into the intersection and then I remember being in the life flight helicopter for a split second and then I remember it being the day after Halloween which would have been three days after the wreck. The brain is a crazy thing. I was very lucky I didn’t die from some moron running a red light. But in this guys case I just don’t see it happening like he said since he changed his story around and the stuff with the dancers …. Idk it’s not looking good for him.

I've been binge-watching Dr Grande. I wonder if I could have been convicted of doing something that I had absolutely nothing to do with. That is so frightening. Disassociative amnesia is absolutely real. I don't ever want to leave my house anymore without a solid alibi. I'm so paranoid now because of all of these channels but true crime etc
I would guess that, when he first tried to shoot her, she managed to get the gun and shoot him first, but only superficially because she had not experience, but then he got the gun back and killed her and then killed the children as well. I think this would explain a lot of the contradictory evidence.
Evidence did not indicate there was any type of struggle between Chris and Kim. Kim did have experience with that gun. Kim used that gun to qualify for a CCW when they lived in WA, and went to the gun range a couple times with Chris (according to what I've read online).
I've seen a video about this case that claims Kimberley had no gunshot residue on her hands. Is this actually true? Dr. Todd Grande did not mention it. If true it must absolutely point to Christopher's guilt.

Can you disciss Dissociative Fugue and how it might explain people disappearing without a trace? I see a lot of videos of people who didappear with no advance notice and no one has any idea what happened.
Dr Grande, are you familiar with the murder of Ann Maguire? A British teacher who was a stabbed to death in the middle of one her classes by then 15 year old student William Cornick. Your thoughts and analysis on this case would be interesting.
The near groin wound is the main thing that makes me wonder. It's very inline with what an angry wife could do. As to him not dying, the fact is that the average person way over estimates the lethality of hand guns, so it'd be real easy for her to think he was surely going to die after being shot twice and quickly moved to finish the children and herself. Statistically, most people shot survive, and it's almost a sure thing if the wound didn't kill you instantly.
@@JennyT101 Firing that many shots only takes seconds and he was just shot and likely disoriented even more because a firearm discharging in a car would be crazy loud and would blow his hearing out. His ears would be ringing for days. It could've been all over before he even realized what was happening. Who ever initiated the attack would have all the advantages. Not saying I'm sure, but it's possible and worth consideration considering her mind set and the angles the bullets that struck the children were fired at.
@@wlknonsonshine You think he hopped out and started shooting? Forensics would have figured that out quick...................it seems like residue on the shooters hands would have pin pointed the shooter, no ?
He could certainly spend a million and a half in the wilderness. You buy some land with the cabin and a lake. Maybe you build a cabin. Maybe you buy a small plane so you could go in and out of the wilderness at will. I could think of more but I feel like I have made my point.

Tfs 😘 I have been hearing. A podcast advertisement on this case and sounded interesting! When I saw Your vid Doc b so excited to see 🙈 what You had to say!
My daughter just said “omg what if the wife did shoot everyone but made sure to not kill the husband so he can be charged and go to prison” she just watched Gone Girl for the first time
Two things about the wife's mental health and the drugs found in her system: first, if she was experiencing panic disorder, this could have been due to some intuitive sense of not being safe with her husband. That doesn't mean he killed her, because there were certainly other things he did wrong that she may have known or sensed, but her disorder by itself certainly does not make it more likely she committed the crime, either, and her panic could have been exacerbated by feeling unsafe with him. Second, the medications in her system: never underestimate the fact that major corporate interests are aligned against recognizing that some widely-prescribed drugs are very dangerous to a tiny group of people. So, there were interests involved in suppressing that possibility. That would make it harder for the defense to get a qualified expert to testify for their side. This is a tough case. Apparently, a lot of people who analyzed his entire statement to police agree it would be hard to fake believing his family was alive without slipping, and hard to fake interest in seeing the video of what happened. But that doesn't point to guilt or innocence, necessarily. It just means he really did have a traumatic memory lapse, making it impossible to assist in his defense.
yeah, the drugs she was on I also have taken, though, luckily not at the same time. Terrible for me who doesn't suffer Bi polar or other psychotic issues. But migraines, these two drugs are used though not designed for migraine. Self harm was coming my way with both, but I got off them in time. I relate to how Kimberley got to that place of self harm, but wow, killing your children too... did she really try to kill him as well? Terrifying situation.
Oh my gosh...Christopher Vaughn. This incident happened very close to where I lived. It was pretty shocking. I had heard that in the interrogation room they brought in a picture of his family. He immediately crumpled it up and threw it into the corner. Also one of his daughters was an avid reader. They found a Harry Potter book on her lap. They think the 2 girls were asleep when they died but the little boy who was the last to be shot was awakened. He had put his hands up as a defensive move:((
I would think it would be dang difficult to come to the realization of the fact that the mother of his children had just shot and killed in cold blood.. and he certainly would have some of his own problems, living with someone who was so labile that she’d even be able to think such things … tragic all the way around
I worked with Christopher and knew Kimberly for a few years and spent time with them outside of work.. They had the 2 girls at the time. It was heartbreaking to hear of Kimberly and the children's murder. Chris was nice and polite but he didn't show a lot of emotion and was quiet. When we were told that Kimberly possibly killed the children and then committed suicide, we didn't believe that for a second. Thank you for your analysis.
Oh, what we don't know behind closed doors...we can present ourselves to the outside world any way we like. My mom certainly did, and behind closed doors, she was a mean, nasty woman. Being introverted and/or unemotional does not prove murder. Kim's medication side effects alone could make at least suicide possible. Nothing is ever as it seems.
@@kataphorav6842 Sorry to hear of how your mother was behind closed doors and how hurtful that must have been for you. Of course people can be different behind closed doors, being quiet and a introvert doesn't make you a killer and being on medication can cause suicide, however, I still say Chris killed his wife and children.

Resistance - too weak to directly display dissatisfaction, come from low self- esteem, people reject useful advice and are inactive. They refuse to do any work. Oppositional attitude toward authority... 4. Reactance - procrastinating ( someone believes their behavior option is restricted ). This restores an individuals perceived freedom of choice. It wasn't "one of the state police investigators", he was the lead investigator until he did not agree with the tunnel vision of the investigation, and they fired him. Also, chris continually begged for the video footage as it would prove he did not kill his family. They also disposed of the bag that the firearm was originally stored in. It was covered in blood and in the crime scene photos. However, it could not be located... additionally, the trip was not concretely planned out, however they had discussed it previously and they were known to take random trips like this. As for his dissociative amnesia, it is VERY common when the brain is protecting you from something so horrible, it cant be handled. How would using complete memory loss be beneficial to him? Obviously he would have had plenty of time to plan this out to the letter had he planned it in advance... it just doesnt fit for something planned out

Excellent analysis Dr. Grande!
U seem like a GREAT therapist,Doc. One who I’d feel comfortable talking to. If u saw patients and I could afford it, I’d definitely consider using your services if I ever decided to see a shrink. 👍
I had dissociative amnesia after a climbing accident. My memory before and after the accident is fairly good. Its just the fall itself and the subsequent pain my mind blocked. My feeling is this guy is lying. He just got sick of having a family.
Bran Stark, it is good that you do not remember what you saw and what made you fall.
Sometimes stuff gets blocked out for our mental protection huh. Pretty neat but so weird!
I was married for five years with this abusive man and I don’t remember the good times only the moments he made me go through pain.. I went to seek therapy and was diagnosed with ptsd
I always get it when my bank statement comes in and hubby starts asking why I spent 1200 on lancome.
Good afternoon, Dr Grande. 🙋♥️🪴🌵🪴 I've had a rough day, so I'm watching you. Thank You! Ps. Hopefully, you're enjoying your day!

Yes Dr Grade Memory loss is very convenient when being investigated by law enforcement if in fact the suspect actually suffered memory loss.
Hi, again, Dr. Grande. 🙋🌵🪴🌵🪴 I'm back. I watched your other video, now I'll watch this one.

Dr Grande has great Dry Witt!! So chill and cool!

I'm happy for you that you survived 😃 I have been injured in a crash too and blacked out on impact but I can't imagine going through what you did ❤ I had pain in my back/neck for 14 years before I went to church and people prayed Jesus would heal me. I was healed that day and regret keeping it a secret.
Hello Dr Grande, I always open your videos and say to myself “speculate away” 😂 I both enjoy and have found your videos insightful and educational. I’m suffering from cognitive decline and am currently working with the drs. This video discusses memory, I have personally suffered from TGA, I was wondering if you have ever covered a case or done a video where this was discussed??

woohoo! another Dr. G video!! we are SO lucky 😝❤️
"There was almost, reasonable doubt." Classic Grande! 😎😅❤
Yeah, so would that be "un-reasonable doubt" ? =)
@@GFlCh i doubt it.
Wow that’s an interesting point 👍 I didn’t even think of that
That’s exactly what I was thinking! Like he’s still guilty, but his wife also tried to defend herself
Heya Doc, love your work and oblique ( to me ) critiques(?) lm hooked on your posts…. ( have I got a problem, d’ya think ) I await your posts whilst performing my mundane , repetitious but rewarding tasks.

Can you disciss Dissociative Fugue and how it might explain people disappearing without a trace? I see a lot of videos of people who didappear with no advance notice and no one has any idea what happened.
I was waiting for somebody to talk about this case.

@T Retano haha oops. Dr Grande's vids are my bed time / trying to fall asleep listening. That is an amusing typo though 😅
Almost at 800k congrats Dr Grande
The near groin wound is the main thing that makes me wonder. It's very inline with what an angry wife could do. As to him not dying, the fact is that the average person way over estimates the lethality of hand guns, so it'd be real easy for her to think he was surely going to die after being shot twice and quickly moved to finish the children and herself. Statistically, most people shot survive, and it's almost a sure thing if the wound didn't kill you instantly.
Why didn't he stop his wife from killing all the children then? He surely could have overpowered her.
Not saying I'm sure, but it's possible and worth consideration considering her mind set and the angles the bullets that struck the children were fired at.
exactly my thoughts!
@@JennyT101 he wasn't in the vehicle.
@@wlknonsonshine You think he hopped out and started shooting? Forensics would have figured that out quick...................it seems like residue on the shooters hands would have pin pointed the shooter, no ?
Very insightful view into his life, and type of thinking.
He could certainly spend a million and a half in the wilderness. You buy some land with the cabin and a lake. Maybe you build a cabin. Maybe you buy a small plane so you could go in and out of the wilderness at will. I could think of more but I feel like I have made my point.

I totally agree with your hypothesis on Dr. Grande's demeanor, or what might be called a demeaner in a video like this. He has a nice cadence to his voice that take the edge off the horror. I love seeing what's next every day!

If lying to strippers and wanting to live in the woods is evidence, he isn’t the only good suspect.
No kidding. Who might want to shoot him in the junk for doing that? Someone overloaded on a very dangerous psychotropic drug? Let me think ...
Other people who want to live in woods and lie to strippers aren’t the husband and father tho?

My daughter just said “omg what if the wife did shoot everyone but made sure to not kill the husband so he can be charged and go to prison” she just watched Gone Girl for the first time
Thanks for covering this.
A killer can definitely be traumatized.
This is a hard one.
Listen to the Murder in Illinois podcast. It's very interesting, heartbreaking & eye opening after several reenactments.
yeah, the drugs she was on I also have taken, though, luckily not at the same time.
Dr Todd Grande Had a new podcast for 4 weeks before I noticed? Nice.
He had put his hands up as a defensive move:((
I think he did it. I love your channel.
I would think it would be dang difficult to come to the realization of the fact that the mother of his children had just shot and killed in cold blood.. and he certainly would have some of his own problems, living with someone who was so labile that she’d even be able to think such things … tragic all the way around
It’s a good day when you get a Dr. Grande notification!
@@kataphorav6842 Sorry to hear of how your mother was behind closed doors and how
hurtful that must have been for you.
Of course people can be different behind closed doors, being quiet and a introvert doesn't make you a killer and being on medication can cause suicide, however,
I still say Chris killed his wife and children.

Dr Grande, do you still read all comments? If so I have a question because I dont know how to reach you otherwise. Its not a "case", but a request none the less. Is there such a thing, or illness, that makes somebody purposely sabotage a situation, in order to "get out of" doing something? I know someone who does this and Its very hurtful and Im looking for info on how to deal with it. I trust your opinion. Thank you.
Do you mean laziness?
Not sure, if that's a disorder though.
It could be passive aggressive.
This is number 4 in my list..
My notes on this.... guess 1952 was my year too, These notes help.
Five factors related to Passive Aggressive Behavior
1. Rigidity - inflexible, maladaptive, stubborn, authoritative, dogmatic
2. Resentment - * anger, irritability, cynical, skeptical, low in trust, jealousy, paranoid, shame in expressing anger and a lot of anger turned inward.
They hold onto control.
5. Reversed a Reinforcement.- normally when problems occur this leads to feelings of power and verification. May agree to something they not enjoy, do it, feel terrible. There is no way to reach negative emotions.
this exists.
@@Anita-k no, not really. More like being upset knowing they need to do something or go somewhere that they clearly dont want to do or go, but feel as though they "have" to. Then turning the situation into such a nightmare that there seems no other choice but to exclude the person who didn't want to be there anyway. I was riding my bicycle to school in 4th grade and my front wheel came off and I took a header. I don't remember the morning at all. It was like all of a sudden I was riding my bicycle and I didn't know how I got there. My friend Misty was next to me and I asked her if I had rode to her house to pick her up to ride to school like usual. She said I had and that I had just had an accident but to this day I don't remember waking up or having breakfast or anything. But that was bad head trauma not just a traumatic scary event. And no one was killed.
That's caused by the head injury, which this guy didn't have.

I wonder Doctor, after seeing so many familial killings, do you think we're seeing an advent of more of these types of crimes? Totally understand if you don't comment back! Hope you and the family are well! 🌵
ps. Your statement of, I don't want to go to prison amnesia was golden! 😂
